Amish owned and ran with Amish employees. I had their buffet. It was amazing as always. One can also order off their menu. Staff is very professional, friendly and helpful. There is a gift shop as well. I very much enjoy going in and browsing. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Where do I start from when I came in to be seated great person I with a smile. Waitress was awesome also took care of everything we needed. Five star all the way around food quality. First time 3 years that I say I never found anything wrong with this place. Definitely home cooked Amish quality food. Some of the most exquisite places would have their hands challenge by this place LOL. Guys youre doing an awesome job there.
Its a great place, and one of the few in the area, due to the small rural communities throughout. Because of that fact, it is very busy, but no more than a couple minute wait to be expected before being greeted and seated by a very friendly staff member. The food is great country cooking, including a decent sized buffet, as well as regular menu options.
I wish I could have Karen as a waitress everyday! Better yet let this young fireball teach a class for waitresses to learn how to do it. Came in for an early supper and was privileged to be seated in her area. If we needed something, we werent bothering her, she beamed as she met our requests. You have a keeper in her! Thanks Karen!
Im actually really surprised by the number of five star reviews. Weve been there a couple of times. I will say that the restaurant is very clean. The service is decent to good. The prices are reasonable. We both had the buffet and it was $15 each. They say this is traditional Amish cooking. Maybe that was the problem for me? I will say the broasted chicken is some of the best chicken Ive ever had. The problem is after that. The rest of the buffet consists basically of mashed potatoes, dressing, green beans, corn, spaghetti, salad bar. Mashed potatoes I think are made without butter. And no seasoning. So theyre a little looser than I would make them and have no taste. The dressing appears to be stacks of slices of bread with milk and maybe chicken broth poured over them and then baked. No seasoning. No onions. No celery. No, nothing. Very bland and mushy. I think they use frozen vegetables which is okay but they need some seasoning. Everything needs some seasoning. They bring you slices of bread to the table. Its fine but nothing to write home about. So all in all, if you go and you get a big plate of the chicken its fine. But if youre looking for sides and other things youre going to be very disappointed.
They are really friendly and family orientated very good with children its all you can eat or you can have a plate full of whatever you want off of the menu they also have a shopping small area I have been coming here for years wonderful and very family-oriented and the waitresses are pretty much Johnny on the spot
My wife and I ate here for a buffet breakfast. Weve eaten here several times. The breakfast buffet is our favorite though. Plenty of things to choose from with fresh fruit too. Their bacon is perfect! The service is pretty good and they keep the coffee coming. If breakfast isnt your thing, they have wonderful fried chicken.
Our server was very informative and had a Ray of Sunshine attitude. We really enjoyed our visit! We were curious if the Yoder family was related to the ones in Sarasota Florida, she explained that there was no relations but they visited the FL location and gave us a bit of history of this restaurant. A must do if in these parts!
Yoders provides a robust, flavorful and fulfilling Amish buffet to please anyones appetite. You can also order from their plentiful menu. The food is prepared by their own pampering chefs. The family restaurant is in Arthur, Illinois (65 miles from my home). But definitely worth the trip just to experience the extraordinary atmosphere and unparalleled food quality and selections. Went for lunch Tuesday September 2nd. Their meatloaf is outstanding. The person with me says their vegetable beef soup is the best he has ever had. Added a new photo showing s worker in her Amish attire servicing the buffet. The Amish refrain from having their faces photographed. So if you take a camera with you please honor their wishes.
I’ll never understand what all the fuss is about at this place. The popularity absolutely befuddles me If this is what they want people to believe Amish home cooking is like, they need to stop by my house and let my wife show them what a home-cooked meal actually tastes like. Took my wife, our daughter and two grandchildren for lunch. That food was absolutely bland, tasteless, and just horrible. Anyone can do what they do. Anyone can take a canned ham and cut it into quarters with no glaze or seasoning. Anyone can open cans of green beans and corn and put them in a pan Again without a hint of seasoning, not even salt. The dressing was nothing more than a pan of wet bread with no seasoning and the noodles are like little rolls of dried up wallpaper paste. Went through the buffet line a second time just trying to get one piece of white meat chicken, didn’t happen. I never saw a single chicken breast on that line. Absolutely terrible and I’ll never go back again. To top it all off, the bill was over $80….That is obscene…Never Again.
Our group, Jarrell Siblings, consisting of my brother and sister in law Renee, who live here in Newman. Then the sisters Faith Norman, from NC, Hope Willis, and Charity Jarrell from WV, Love Estes from Ohio, and my husband, Ronnie and I. We had wonderful meals and a great hostess/server.
My husband, brother and I decided to take a drive to Amish country since my brother hadnt been there in years. We stopped here to eat breakfast at the buffet and was not disappointed it had everything and fueled us up nicely for our wonderful day ahead. At dinner time we once again found ourselves here for the buffet it was very good but they had a hard time keeping chicken on the buffet and I really didnt care for the ribs but the guys did. Still a great place to stop just may try to menu next time.
Although we had to wait 25 minutes to get a table because they were so busy, the food was fresh and plentiful. We met up with friends theyre and we all had a fantastic home cooked meal! My favorite was the mashed potatoes and brown gravy and the noodles and the homemade stuffing was the BEST!! They had plenty of help and it was clean and the staff were all friendly and kept so busy!! Thank you for the best meal and my family will be back to see yall very soon!!❤️
Great place for dinner or lunch. If you get the buffet theyre fabulous Amish pie is only $2 a slice. The buffet salad was five star. The chicken is always excellent. We were so full when we were done that we took the pie to go and it did not disappoint. Buffet with a fantastic salad bar., potatoes vegetables and other items in the buffet Ran us $15 a piece which was fantastic for the quality and quantity of food. You cant visit the area without stopping here to eat. Its almost Ascend to miss it. Each table has homemade apple butter, homemade peanut butter and freshly baked bread period a real treat and you can buy it and take it home. Dont forget to tip!
Its a minimal item buffet but everything on it is very good. Super fresh salad bar. Broasted chicken is to die for! Waitress was friendly and very attentive. Cost of $15 per person was excellent for the food we received. I have to say again the salad bar veggies were so fresh we both thought that they must have grown them out back and brought them in daily!
Best fried chicken. Its always busy so never hurts get there early, but always worth the wait. Staff is great. Gift shop us a great selection. The food is always good. Fried chicken and the noodles are my favorites. Never pass up the homemade bread and apple butter or peanut butter. They have the buffet but you can also order from the menu.
Yoder Kitchen was excellent! We each had the buffet. The catfish was fantastic as was their fried chicken. The corn fritters were the best Ive ever had. I was not impressed with the chicken dressing but everything else was great.Service was super. Those gals worked hard to please.
My husband and I had the lunch buffet today and they have the best fried chicken we have ever eaten, hands down! It was perfect. The bread they give you and the Amish peanut butter and apple butter at the table are delicious! The buffet offered enough for us for the price. We cant wait to visit again.
Quite a good buffet at Yoders! A vast selection of entries from chicken and noodles, fried chicken, fish, and more! Theres also many great sides to choose from! The salad bar and dessert bar make great additions to the buffet as well. However this establishment gets quite crowded at times so the best times to come are whenever there arent too many people.
Not terribly crowded, seated right away. The salad bar is outstanding, lots of choices and kept filled and clean. The usual crispy fried chicken, and all the fixings! The brownie lava cake for dessert hit the spot, but there were fruit crisps and ice cream too. Our server kept our drinks filled and checked on us often. A great time with great friends!
Great Amish cooking. I did take away one star because the broasted chicken that I was served was a little overcooked and dry. Everything else that sampled from the buffet was very good. Great chicken livers. Their homemade ranch dressing was some of the best I have eaten.
The parking lot was packed, but there were still open tables. We had the lunch buffet and there was a variety of items to chose from. They serve sliced homemade bread. Amish peanut butter and apple butter are on the table. Service was okay and friendly. There is also a gift shop. We bought some of the peanut butter to take home because it was so good.
We/ enjoyed our visit, very much. (50) miles from home in Indiana, still inspires our appetite . What surprised us was not the hospitality and food but the difference in visitors manners and lack of such for others. Some are still referencing , for later that night. ( Purses ) I could go on but socially IS prohibited. Delicious , looking forward to our next visit
We love the buffet. The fried chicken every day is awesome plus all the homemade sides. My husband likes the Monday buffet with the ham loaf. Friday is also good with the walleye and shrimp on the buffet. They also always give you slices of fresh made bread. There is dessert on the buffet but I highly recommend paying the extra for a slice of pie. The pie is a must! Our favorite flavor is the coconut cream.
Great place to eat in the heart of Illinois Amish Country! Great people & great service. A long time favorite to many folks. Its got a lot of seating but is highly popular, so be prepared to wait 10-15 mins to get a table during prime eating times. Also, for those with an appetite, bring a wheelchair....you may need it after you get done eating all of the yummy food! 🤣
It was amazing. Reminded me of going to my great grandparents house in the country.the food is what you would exspect from a place that knows how to cook everything. The area is a story book atmosphere. From everyone in a Amish attire. Horse drawn carriages to farm land also country stores, hand made woodcraft stores. Always having something going on in town. The hospitality isnt pushed it comes natural. I cant wait to visit again.the only thing I wish I could of done. Bed and breakfast.. That would of been unbelievable.
Family-friendly restaurant with fantastic gift shop to browse while you wait for a table. Friendly service. We ordered buffet, and it was fine - but nothing to write home about. Fresh bread at table with apple butter and amish peanut butter (in a squeeze bottle - maybe whipped with milk or cream?) was great.
We decided to eat from the buffet and were delighted in the quality and variety of food with the exception that only 1 meat was offered. We both like fried chicken, which was quite tasty, but we would have been more pleased if they had a second meat on the buffet too. The atmosphere was delightfully bright and cheery. The gift shop was beautiful, clean, well organized and nicely spaced.
A lot of the food is good but way to high price.Sometimes the chicken is under cooked. Well once again disappointed with Yoders.Got an order of B&G to find it so watered down it ran off the fork like water from tap.Just got a half duzzen doughnuts the twist and they stoped the size and amount of glaze on themIll never go back there for any meal.
My brother,Bert Chambers recommended this to me.He has poor health so I drove him and his wife there to eat, Thursday.Saturday,I drove 2hours to take my husband and granddaughter.Tuesday I go to the Dr and will drive aprox 3hrs to take my sister, brother-in-law,and my brother and sister in law (again). All in a weeks time.Soooo I do believe you can say Im very impressed with Yoders.
Good things first. If you want a country style home cooked meal...go for it. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere was spot on with the theme. Pleas try it to form your own opinion.I didnt really enjoy the experience. I went with the family and got the buffet. I would say it was a similar quality of a home cooked meal. One thing I didnt like is I felt everything was flavorless, however, the chicken was over salted. I cant say anything for the food on the regular menu, but if their cooking style carries over (and it generally does) youll probably find overly salted meats and non-seasoned sides. However, its got a nice little gift shop and almost all the decorations you see on the wall are on sale at reasonable prices. Please try it for yourself.
They have an awesome lunch and dinner buffet! Staff are friendly and accommodating. If youve never been here before, try their fried chicken! Its delicious. The country fried steak, hamburgers, and other menu items are tasty, too. If you go during lunch time theyre pretty busy, so be patient with the meal wait time. Its well worth while.
Always good, no complaints ever. Update as of 9-3-21. Been here many times. All on a Friday. The salad bar is really good. The Friday buffet is Fish, fried chicken, fried shrimp. Mashed potatoes, gravy and more! Even have a couple different soups. Plus, soft serve ice cream and various types of cobblers and chocolate lava cake. (Luck of the draw for cobbler flavors or lava cake ) You should certainly give it a try. $14 for all you can eat buffet, Good value for the price. Must try!
Very enjoyable atmosphere. Got thereMid afternoon and the lot was full. Thought there might be a wait based on people sitting outside. No wait and tables were far enough away from each other that it was easy to social distance. The buffet was popular but if your not into fried chicken, the patty melt and buffalo chicken sandwiches were tasty. Lots to chose from. Fresh bread is brought out. Homemade apple butter and peanut butter on the tables. The peanut butter is sealed but if you have an allergy you might ask for it to be removed from your table.Finished off lunch with a slice of banana cream pie - so delicious. Flaky crust, creamy banana filling and actual bananas.Service was outstanding. Waitress kept our glasses filled and checked back often.Highly recommend.
Nice modern clean restaurant.I’m not sure how anyone could call the buffet home cooking. But don’t misunderstand, the food is okay just not exciting.Order off of the menu for much better selections. Look at the buffet first. If you think fried chicken or goulash is a good main dish, then do the buffet.I think the ratings might reflect what your home area has to offer in dining. We have no complaints. Not bad. Not great. Probably very good considering the small town.I’d go back. But I’d read the menu.
Fantastic hostess and waitstaff. Excellent food, reasonable prices, and a great selection. Gluten-free options available. Very spacious seating and very clean. Warm and welcoming decor. Beautifully updated bathrooms throughout. Large unique gift store with thousands of options from fresh bread, pies, and cookies to clothing, jewelry, and home decor!Definitely a must to visit as often as you are able to!!
Beautiful restaurant with really good food! We avoided the buffet (shoulder to shoulder people with no masks on), sitting near the wall & ordering from the menu instead. Our meal was delicious! It was disheartening to note there were no face coverings on the staff or capacity restrictions, though. Enter at your own risk!
The fried chicken was delicious and the salad bar was great. But the rest of the food was bland and no seasoning. The dressing was just wet bread yuck! Chicken and noodles were like soup no taste. It use to be great but not anymore for the price. Even the desserts were awful. I wont be return.
Awseome place to grab some breakfest. I was in town getting some poultry processed, (Central Illinois Poultry Processing) and had plenty of time on my hands. Was totally blown away by the toast - and Im not a toast person... but the toast was amazing. Ended up bying plenty bread to bring home. And the strawberry butter was a excellent find as well. Will return for sure!
This is just like Old Country Buffet, if Old Country Buffet was the way wed like it to be, with really good food and a beautiful dining room. The dishes on the buffet are very similar but these are for the most part much better versions. The price is about the same as OCB but Yoders is anything but conveniently located, unless you live in Arthur, IL. Also, unlike OCB, they are open for business.
Homemade warm at home atmosphere with friendly service delicious food and everything you would want in a country restaurant. It is the essence of hometown American cookingVery comforting atmosphere.Homemade jams pies ice cream for dessert.Im definitely coming back.Great for families
It doesnt get much better than this. Granted its the same option for the buffet every day, but you can also order from a menu. Food I delicious and the staff gives friendly service. Dont be surprised if you have a wait of 25 mins or so on Saturday, its busy. During the week, you may have a 5 min wait or so, but they have a beautiful area to shop/look at merchandise or fresh baked goods. Ive been coming to Yoders for years. If your looking for delicious chicken and other homemade sides....this is your place! Oh, the desserts are awesome. Chances are you will overeat and not have room for dessert, but they will be happy to box it up for you to eat later!!Great place to have a banquet or family gathering.
Amazing food, everything seems like it was made from scratch even the buffet. Had the lunch buffet and looking to return for a dinner and/or breakfast buffet at some point. Desserts are incredible especially the cobblers coming from someone without a sweet tooth. Definitely try the apple butter tableside with the bread they bring out, the best butter ever. I will have return and check out the gift shop. Excellent experience.
Came 4 the Buffet. There was a little wait but it was only like a few minutes no problem. They was busy. Everything was spaced out everywhere. They dont have much on there Buffets but several good options. Chicken constantly coming out & OMG soooo Yummy. Salad Bar with lots of Healthy options. I had 2 Salads cus they was just so good tasting. They got 2 different Soups. A Dessert Bar even a few Sugar Free options. Plus a Ice Cream area. They give u a Basket of Homemade Bread plus theres Homemade Peanut Butter & Apple Butter which is sooo Delicious!!!They have a nice little Gift Shop with lots of Stuff. Baby stuff, Childrens, Adults. Cookbooks, knickknacks, jewelry. Something for everyone. U could probably get something for yourself or give as a gift any time of the year. Plus come back from time 2 time 2 See what New Stuff they may have. U can even take home some Homemade Bread, or some Yummy Apple Butter. If you havent been here to Yoders Kitchen in Arthur, Illinois you should definitely check it out.
I was very pleased with the service I was very pleased with the food it was on the homemade food we have never been there so this was a first time for us I have some kids and they were very Amazed by the horse and buggy we told him you know that its they are you but we were very pleased and the kids enjoyed the horses we were very pleased and we went into your small shops and we are very pleased with the service we will be back
Exceptional customer service and very welcoming hospitality. Food makes you feel like a guest in a friends kitchen. I also highly recommend purchasing one or more of their recipe books, as they have several excellent recipes that they dont offer in the restaurant. The buffet is always a favorite, but the menu also offers some delicious options for those who prefer to avoid the temptation of eating too much. Excellent prices. Highly recommend.
Food was absolutely delicious, but restaurant seemed to have little in the way of COVID precautions. We visited 7/27 and got takeout, which we ate on one of the many outside tables. No employee I saw was wearing masks, and diners inside did not seem to be seated in a socially distanced way. Im glad we chose to eat outside.Food (and pie!) was absolutely delicious. I had the noodles (chicken noodle soup noodles sans broth on mashed potatoes). These were helpfully delivered layered noodles, potatoes, noodles, so I could eat one portion and save the rest. We also tried the corn nuggets (sweeter than I expected, but SO yummy). I had a piece of coconut pie, which was unsurprisingly great.Staff at the takeout counter was super nice, chatted to us while we waited. One star off because Id love to see them take more public health precautions, but overall really enjoyed my visit and would recommend this detour about 10 miles off I-57.
Im sorry to say food and service were not too good. Ate there before and enjoyed it. The roast beef with cheese was not edible. Beef was old dried out and looked fried with a tiny drop of cheese.it should not have been served. It was that bad. The poor server looked tired and overworked. She couldnt remember to bring hot water for tea or napkins even after i chased her down. Dont worry, i was very polite and I couldnt bring myself to complain to her about our food.
The food was delicious. The roast beef sandwich was very tender. The fries were almost greeseless, with a great potato flavor. The corn fritters were perfect blend of corn and batter. The staff were very professional in dress and service. The restaurant was the cleanest I have ever seen. Great pride in serving people.Even met a friend who lives in FL.
This was an awesome place to visit, the experience is worth your time. The staff is friendly and the store is interesting. The food was okay, nothing special but it was okay. If you are looking for something fun to do you will love this place, if you are looking for super good food you will be disappointed.
This place was exceptionally good. They didnt have chicken fried chicken which I love so I decided to get chicken strips with country gravy, mashed potatoes, and corn fritters. Oh my goodness! It was delicious! Probably the best mashed potatoes Ive ever had! Ive never had corn fritters before but they were absolutely wonderful and the chicken straps with country gravy were great as well! Our server was very nice and knowledgeable as well. She always made sure we had drinks and anything we needed. They were quite busy when we got there but when we were waited on, it was like we were the only people there and we were given undivided attention. Everyone was very nice and the gift shop has some wonderful things in also! I live 2 1/2 hours away and I may make a special trip sometime to come back up there and eat at Yoders Kitchen!
Had been here a couple of years ago and had to return when we were back in the area. Both times, I have enjoyed the buffet because all I really want is the fried chicken. Its delicious and getting the buffet is a better deal if you eat at least 3 pieces of chicken. The corn was very good as was the homemade bread and butter... but did I mention the chicken?
I would not go again. They had a very limited buffet that featured cold fried chicken, spaghetti, and greens of some sort. I think there were 6 items on the buffet. The salad bar was good, fresh items on it. There wasnt even enough cherry cobbler left for both of us to have some and no more was brought out the entire time it took us to eat our meal.

2022-06-28I was only able to take a picture of my husbands bread as everything that we ordered was gobbled up so fast. I would say we were super hungry, but more that the food was just that good. Are waitress was phenomenal and attentive.Downside, this place is soooooo popular that there is quite the wait to get in. It was crazy! After eating though we could see why.Definitely a must stop!

2022-03-19Fantastic experience! Buffet has many options & the fried chicken is the best. The warm bread was great with the Amish peanut butter and apple butter. Can’t go wrong with the desserts & soft served ice cream!

2021-10-06This is a very good place to stop and eat. The buffet was simple with many choices. All items were delicious. Salad with fixings. Fried chicken and ham. Mashed potatoes, green beans, corn and more. Everyone was friendly, quick and helpful.

2022-05-17Service was fast, food was good...a solid performer. The quesdilla was loaded with great chicken and onions and cheese almost more like a typical paninni would hold. The chicken salad sandwich had good bread and a good mix of ingredients.

2022-04-05The fried Chicken was the best! Nice home cooking everything was very good except the dressing could use improvement, the rhubarb cobbler and baked chocolate pudding were good! The wait was 40 minutes at 1pm on Saturday. I advise making reservations. Lovely gift shop just way too expensive. Very large building, tables were spaced very nicely so you were right up against another table!! Overall great experience!

2022-03-30Wow! Our first visit was two Saturdays ago. I always go into a new restaurant with low expectations. My family and I got the buffet. It was traditional American breakfast food. The overall quality of the food and atmosphere were top-notch. You also cant beat the pricing. If you go there on Saturday expect a bit of a wait. However, the wait is worth it. If youre closer, or even if you have to drive a fair distance to get there, you wont be disappointed!

2021-10-17Excellent experience. Can’t wait to come back to try more options from the buffet.
