Great view of the city. 103 floor FAST elevator to the top. Now that they’ve added “The Ledge”, it’s very scary and cool. Hang around a while and you’ll see plenty of people that just can’t make their way out into the boxes even after they’ve already seen dozens do it. It’s amazing what fear will do to rational people.Again, great views of the city and the lake. Miles and miles and miles on clear days. I try to stop by Willis Tower every time I’m in Chicago. I don’t know why really. It’s just cool to be up that high I guess.
Well what can I say that haven’t already been said about this place. Since a kid I have all been Infatuated over really tall skyscrapers and this was my favorite one and I got the chance to see it in person. Expect the day we went, it was very cloudy/ windy and the sky deck was closed for that day. I still got the chance to see it though. Will be back again one day to finally get to the top and see this wonderful city from above.
Various locations for photo ops and selfies throughout your trek to the top. There are various ledges and you will be directed to your assigned line. For two people you are timed 60 seconds for pictures on the ledge. For 3 people and up you are given 90 seconds. They are very strict on the time even if you have handicap or elderly in your party. Make sure to buy your tickets in advance as they will only let you in during your designated time.
Sky deck was super cool! Purchased tickets online and they were timed so it wasn’t too crowded! Before heading up to the sky deck you go through a Chicago immersion which walks you through Chicago history, architecture, and everything else that makes Chicago! The sky deck is a quick 1 min elevator right up (filled with fun facts). The views were amazing (we went at night, it was a little hard to take pics bc of the glare, but you could easily take them in some corners). The “ledge” was super neat! Organized line with time limits (60 sec for 1-2 people, 120 sec for 3+).I’d recommend expedited if it’s busy - you get to cut the lines. Def a must-go when in Chicago!
I loved the place, The reaction when you get to the Skydeck, seeing faces of people who are scared to walk right out is hilarious, all the information provided and the souvenirs, beautiful views, the trip to the top, and the info inside the elevator and the history all very informative.
If you’re scared of heights and shaky elevators this place may freak you out, but if you can get over your fears, this place will amaze you. It was so cool to be at the top of the world instead of looking up at it. Plus I got to stand where the actors of ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ did which was really sweet! Great location for a day trip, but go on a week day. There were hardly any people there which was nice for the lines!
They were amazing here! It wasn’t the best day because of the clouds, but I feel it made it better. I scheduled my Navy re-enlistment here and everything went smooth! The staff Emily helped set everything up and responded so quickly via email and Greg was there the day of. There was loads of traffic that morning due to the rain and they let our whole party arrive. I don’t remember who took the pictures while we were up there, but I bought them all! He did an outstanding job. Thank you for making this a very memorable day for my family and other service members who came out to support! We had a blast and I am so grateful.
The Willis Tower was opened to the public as the Sears tower in 1973 at 1450’ feet tall looks and feels fresh again after a new facelift. You can see 4 states on low humidity clear days. There is a new beautiful park that’s 3000 square feet above the restaurants that you can get an amazing view of the west loop. The observation floor at 103 stories ann the building is 110 stories. Also, the new urban exchange Catalog is open for business with many restaurants to choose from. Like Shake Shake, Rick Bayless, Brown Bag seafood, sweet green, Market Creations, Sushi-San, Joe & The Juice, Convene, and of course Starbucks.
The Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) is a 108-story, 1,450-foot (442.1 m) skyscraper in Chicago. The tower has 108 stories as counted by standard methods, though the buildings owners count the main roof as 109 and the mechanical penthouse roof as 110.[4][3] At completion in 1974, it surpassed the World Trade Center in New York City to become the tallest building in the world, a title that it held for nearly 25 years. It was also the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere for 41 years, until the One World Trade Center surpassed it in 2013, and had the highest occupiable floor until surpassed by the Central Park Tower in 2022.The Willis Tower is considered a seminal achievement for engineer Fazlur Rahman Khan.[5] It is currently the third-tallest building in the United States and the Western hemisphere – and the 23rd-tallest in the world. Each year, more than one million people visit its observation deck, the highest in the United States, making it one of Chicagos most popular tourist destinations.
Beautiful views. We visited on a Thursday afternoon, wasn’t crowdy but it isn’t the tourist season i guess. You get to take pictures from every side and then on the ledge of course. It’s a fun and visual experience! One star missing cause I’ve been on skydecks and I’ve seen ones that you can hang out in with plenty of space and drinks to buy etc. Also some of the windows were bit dirty. But that’s life.
11/25/2021Even on Thanksgiving the Skydeck was busy. The trip was amazing although the $35 price tag is pricey for 2 mins on the Ledge! They do time the 2 mins!! We went at night because I wanted the city lights and buildings to pop in the photos. You can take your own pics as well as having them take it. You will take pic in front of a green screen where they will place a sunset view and a daytime clear view in the background. When you get on the Ledge theyll take another on. One set for $31 or both sets for $42. Your ears will pop on the elevator and you have plenty of chances to take awesome pics before getting on the Ledge. If you dont want glares in your pics just place your phone on the window!😉 Very amazing experience!!
Enjoyed the small history of Chicago and the tower. The top of the tower had amazing views and the glass ledge was pretty cool but abut scary. They only give you 2mins in the glass ledge which is a short amount of time but enough to take your pictures. There are plenty of other windows on all sides of the floor to take great photos. Would do it again on my next visits
Tallest building of the Chicago town.. Structural view is amazing.. It has many restaurants and has most amazing place called skydeck.. Its on 103 rd floor. View from skydeck of the town is breathtaking.. There’s also two small gift shops..decoration from the skydeck check in to elevator is eye catching...
Must go on Chicago! This place view is amazing. If you are planning to visit Chicago for a few days I would recommend the City Pass, as a City Pass you made reservation and your ticket counts as expedited, you don’t have to make any lines. It is required to wear mask inside the place.
Very cool going to the sky deck. The views are incredible. However, they put over 20 people in one elevator to go up and are not adhering to social distancing at all. (Nov 8 2021 was when we went) We were extremely disappointed with their precautions or I guess I should say their lack there of…..
The introduction prior going up to the top is beautifully created which provided tourists with the knowledge of the city. The view on top is also quite stunning, except that the windows were really dirty, with many MANY spiders seen across the windows. I have been to other similar sightseeing towers like SKY100 in Hong Kong, they definitely dont have dirty windows like these. I have literally checked out all the windows trying to find a spot where I can film clean and clear footage. Unfortunately all the videos I took were somehow distrupted by handprints / spiders / various kinds of stains outside the window. Honestly if you are gonna charge us for such a view, the least you can do is to clean more frequently and provide a clear view.
We visited Willis Tower during the Memorial day weekend, we thought we will be able to buy tickets on spot but to our surprise all the tickets were sold out till next 3 day and only One was available on their website for the entire day which was so disappointing. Speaking of Willis tower and tickets its totally worth it. The elevator was quick, there was no line at the time I went up. The view is breath taking & highlight of the tower is the The Ledge where all the visitors gets a minute to stay and take pix which is quiet less time, honestly it takes 20-30 sec for someone to adjust their self to look through the glass, remaining 40 seconds are soo less to enjoy the view. Please do increase the time to at least 1:30 min. Would love to bring my whole family next time and will buy the tickets in ADVANCE.
I remember reading about the Willis Tower and wanting to go there. Standing on the 103rd floor was a surreal experience. Even the elevator ride up was fun, which had a screen showing your elevation. The only downside is that it took awhile to get up there. I really want to come back and I haven’t since 2019. I think the $35 cost is worth it. (Especially because I wasn’t the one paying for it.) I wish I still had the pictures.
ABSOLUTELY THE COOLEST SPOT GO HERE NOW!!!!!!🔥 this place is 103 stories up above the Chicago skyline you could never go wrong with a sunset here kind of sketchy elevator on the way up Just Close Your Eyes itll be done quick the views are exceptional its a must every time I step into Chicago the windy city one of the tallest buildings
Worth it if you get it as part of a City Pass. The City Pass gave us an expedited experience so we always had priorities in lines which was awesome because we went at sunset so there were a lot of people. Its also much lower on my list of must see attractions. If you only have a short trip, just go to The Signature restaurant at the 95th (John Hancock tower).
Gorgeous views of Lake Michigan and Chicago. Only downside was we didn’t realize we had to get tickets and had to pay a lot to go up yet that evening. The fact that you need tickets should be advertised. Also there were such long lines for the glass window hang over thingys that we didn’t get to even look out those sides of the tower. It’s just a small boxed out area not sure what’s so great about that 😉 but the other side views were incredible!!! I’m sure the fact that it was Friday night contributed to all the people.
The key is to not look down at all if youre terrified of heights. As one of the tallest buildings in the world, the view is magnificent, overlooking Chicagos architecture. Its best to come on a sunny day for a bright view without the clouds in the way.The line to go up was a bit of a wait but doable if you have good company. Theres several boxes that you will wait in line for your turn to take pictures. This line was much shorter. Then you can go back in line or go to another box. There isnt a limit of how many times you can get back in line. You might spent about 30min to an hour up there. Probably next time when Im back, I would go during the sunset until night time. The view would be even better.
Came during the morning/afternoon on a clear day, and wow! You can really see far (into 4 states, I believe)! Views are stunning and if youre up for it, you can step into that clear glass box thing (I would have done it, but the line was too long). Definitely recommend this place.
Iconic place to visit at least once. They have a nice tour along the pathway to the elevator that takes you to the top. They also had a film and model buildings so you can easily understand how tall the building is compared to other skyscrapers.Sometimes there’s a line at the top to come back down…so don’t be surprised.
Was fun to see but on the expensive side. The parking in the area is very expensive! Especially if you take longer than an hour at Willis Tower. Either way the view was amazing and I was able to get my whole family to enjoy it even with my wife not liking the elevator ride.
My visit was prior to the beginning of the pandemic. Yet, I didnt want to miss the chance of saying how wonderful the experience had been. It is, undoubtedly, a must in this windy city. We got there early in the morning so that we could skip the long line, however, Willis Tower being such a major attraction, it proved impossible trying to skip the lines. My best friend and I, climbed the tower in excitement. Despite being so windy outside, once you walked into the building its central heating plant greets you warmly. The cost is $23 dlls per person, quite reasonable. The actual sky-deck seems as though an empty large space which eases the whirling seas of people. A Coffee shop or a souvenir stand may come handy. The view is just breathtaking, specially the northern view ,which shows giant Michigan Lake stretching as far as the eye can see.As you may see in one of the pictures I took, the glass boxes provide a superb opportunity to take fabulous pictures.
I’ve decided to share my own experience visiting Willis Tower in 2015First of all - if you are scared of highness that’s probably not for you! Better spent your time else where, than panicking on glass balcony at 110-floor! lol As for me, the only thing I was scared of was a security guy, who reprimand people before me in a line for taking their pictures to long! I was concerned would I have enough time to make a pictures I like! lolEven the place was full of people, I really like all the experience, the view was amazing, standing on the glass floor 442m felt great and exciting, the short video about the Tower before the trip on top was interesting, actually, if I’ll ever be around I will definitely go there again! There are an entrance fee, souvenir shop available#WillisTower#WillisTowerChicago
A fascinating skyscraper to visit in Chicago. One special part of its is the sky deck. This let you have a glass floor experience, which is phenomenal. Don’t forget to take your selfie stick and ready it before entering the skydeck, because you will not have much time to take pics in the deck. It’s crowded here in vacations, but city pass help you skip long lines and make your experience better.
For the amount of money you pay to get in, you think they would at least give you more time to take pictures. Who seriously thinks 60 seconds is enough time especially for two people. As we awaited in line, we saw & heard timers go off from the different staff and their ledges in the sky deck. The staff who was at the ledge we were told to go to didn’t even start a timer nor did one go off. We were just told that our turn was “over” as if he counted in his head. While we left, some of those that were in line ahead of us were still at their ledges and yes, they also had two people. It honestly felt as if we only stood there for 30 seconds. Mind you, my bf and I barely got any pictures of each other (2-3 poses) while none together.Being on the ledge, you don’t even have time to look at the view never mind taking pictures. A random customer, still in line, had also asked the staff if they could take a “quick” photo of the ledge while we were still in it which also made it feel like we were being rushed.
The views from the top are AMAZING. That said, the staff are unfriendly and the whole system getting to the top is unorganized. This place caters to the people who have the VIP pass-letting them cut ahead in lines, and staff will kick you out of your 30 seconds on The Ledge, to make room for VIP pass holders. That ruined the whole experience for me. I regret not going to 360 Chicago. I was closer to the Willis Tower at the time, that’s why I chose it versus 360 Chicago. Hope this review helps others choose between the two.
Sadly when I visited a few years ago the people in front of us took forever probably taking instagram photos but as I’m reading the reviews it says there now is a time limit of 120 seconds so that problem has been solved I guess. Anyway you really must visit this, great view of Chicago and cool to see below.
This is a must visit place in Chicago, but visiting Sep 2020 wasnt the best experience. We waited more than 1h30 on the lines on a Saturday morning to stay only 2 timed minutes on the deck. Its a very short time to take pictures, so plan ahead of time. There is an express ticket that allows you to jump the line, I would have loved to have one. Its totally worth it if you have short time to visit the city. You will make several stops on different floors on your way up. Maximum two parties on the elevator. They clean the whole glass deck between every party, masks are mandatory and you must practice social distancing.Last tip: Bring your water bottle! All water fountains are closed and you will not want to pay the price on the gift store.
Definitely what you expect when you visit a skyscraper. It offers beautiful views over-looking the great city of Chicago. A city full of many unique must-sees and tons of fantastic restaurants.I was fortunate to be able to capture WT from other locations while visiting many times on business and pleasure.Great experience all the way around and one of those must-do’s if you’re planning a trip to Chicago. You can get panoramic views of the city and it’s a great way to make any trip to the city complete.
Allow plenty of time for this experience. It is more engaging and impressive than you might think and there was no time limit on the visit when we went. I recommend going at dusk. We were there about twenty minutes before sunset so we had the daytime views and the experience of being out on the glass Ledge while you could see clear to the ground and then we saw the sunset and the lights coming on all around as darkness fell. Magical.
One of the best places to view all of Chicago. You as a Bussines professional I can tell the staff are trained extremely well. Customer service is too notch. You haven’t see. Chicago until you have been here. Yes you have to pay to use the facility but it’s worth every penny. Photos that will leave you breath less. I can’t believe I still come here every year from Arizona because the great experience I have.
The Crowning Jewel of the Chicago Skyline. This Skyscraper defines the great city of Chicago. One of a kind construction and was way ahead of its time.No matter how many times we see it, we are always in awe of this amazing Marvel. The inside of the building is very beautiful and very well lit. It has some of the best looking washrooms. And offcourse it is the home of the amazing Skydeck.
This is a must try wonderful experience. The speedy elevator that takes you to 103 floors in no time is both thrilling & fascinating. The views from sky deck are exciting. Stepping on to the glass ledge is an experience of a life time. On a bright sunny day you can see whole of the Chicago. Highly recommended to visit.
Terrible experience. We bought the tickets expecting that we would actually enjoy the view. So here is how it goes: after we spent an hour in a line to get to the elevator, we spent another hour in the line to get to actually experience the view in the glass room but here is the surprise, you have a minute(TIMED!). Yes, you read it correctly, only 1 minute to enjoy the view, gain the experience and get your pictures taken. That’s the biggest waste of ticket I have ever had.
Long and slow moving line to get to the top. Once you get to the top, expect it to be PACKED. There are glass boxes that extend from the tower so you can take a photo above the skyline. They also have people in charge of who gets to go in the glass box so it is very organized and everyone gets a good photo. Great photo op but terrifying if you’re afraid of heights.
This place was amazing! One of if not the best thing we did on the trip. It didn’t take as long as other reviews say. Only 60 seconds to the top! A nice area to observe all areas of the City and 4 states, with display pictures to show you where/ what to look at. Two likes for the sky deck, 4 glass boxes. They take your picture in one and you get “free time” in the next one. We visited just the day time out next trip we would love to visit at night to experience both views!
The ledge was breathtaking. One of a kind bucket list option checked off. I went during the nighttime and really enjoyed all the nights views and the lesser crowds at night. I should of gone during the sunset as those pictures over the sun setting over the horizon couldnt be beat. Maybe next time. Highly recommend this as a must do attraction to anyone visiting Chicago.
A must do on any Chicago visit. We dropped on visiting early in the morning after Labor Day so virtually walked straight onto the elevator. Looking at the set up they have for managing queues I imagine you can wait for hours during busy times.Well worth it though for the mind blowing views. Very, very eerie feeling once you reach the top and allows you to make connections between different elements of the citys history and architecture that you are likely becoming aware of on your visit.
Amazing piece of architecture and although it has been renovated, it’s keeping up with the times, despite it being built in the 70s. I’m going to be an architect after i finish school and seeing such a marvellous building reminding me what i’m working toward designing.
Wonderfully wonderful and amazing experience. Breathtaking views of the city at an amazingly crazy height. A must do thing for everyone in life. Chicago is a beautiful city and if you are there and not going to this Skydeck, you are missing something or if this world. Strongly recommended for everyone to go there and have one of lifetimes achievement.
Absolutely blown away by the lack of professionalism from security guard Anthony who works the night shift in the lobby on Franklin Street. I, having locked myself out of my apartment without my keys or phone as I went to take out my dog (and its raining), went to Willis Tower because my wife works for United Airlines in the building, and has her house keys. As I walk up to the front desk and very politely ask if they can call up to my wife to come down, Anthony ignores my request, meanwhile another female security guard offers me her personal cell phone to contact my wife to come to the lobby. Confused as to why they cant call from the desk, but still grateful for her offer, I accept, but my wife doesnt answer the call immediately. So I tell her thank you, and look back at him not realizing that he has already dismissed the situation. So I ask him if he can call up to her. He states that he cant call, he doesnt even have a phone and doesnt even know how he would call up. Even more confused I say, “O.k. but my wife is just upstairs and theres no way to contact her, or the company floor?’ He says ‘No’, flat out. Meanwhile, female security guard comes back around and says she’ll help me in a second when shes done doing her rounds. When she was done, she texted my wife and my wife came down with my keys. As she was texting my wife, she says to me, ‘I dont know why he isnt calling for you, they do it all the time. Must just be something with him, I dont know. Im not even on this desk, I was just helping you’. So, if you are at Willis Tower in need of assistance from someone who has been hired for assistance, dont count on Anthony. Will never understand how people like that have job retention. His behavior was absolutely uncalled for
One of the best places if you want to have an overview on Chicago. You need to register first before you can go up.One one of the top levels you can make a reservation to the metropolitan club to get some drinks and a very good dinner.I like the view to one of the nicest cities in US.Have a try.
Ive been here since it was called Sears tower and on this last visit it was silent yoga on the top floor. Many different improvements have been made and some on their way. Security has improved and people were friendly here. The elevators are a bit slow but they get the job done. Once on the observation floor youll find out what makes the Willis tower so great to visit when youre in Chicago. The views are awesome and you can visit during the day or night and youll see a complete different look. On a nice clear day you can see very far and the pictures youll take will look awesome. If you havent stopped by, you should.
Awesome view... It was cool experience to see Chicago from such height...Other skyscrapers looks great... You must go on sunny day to enjoy view...Glass windows are on 103th floor but unfortunately on western side opposite to other skyscrapers...Must go there n enjoy the view all-around...
Takes lot of time to get to the top floor. It took us almost 3 hours to the top including ticketing and waiting in lines. Also u can get tickets cheaper online in some 365skydeck.co. website. They allow digital tickets as well no need for the print out. But the view is awesome. You will technically have 3-4 minutes at the glass box for viewing.
For us Indian tourists its a joy when we see these lovely high rising buildings in the heart of the city since we dont get to see many back home, this is the case with the high shy rising Willis Tower Building.Located in the heart of Chicago is one of the most famous tourist location in the city because of its famous sky desk in the highest floor of this tower. One of the best views of the city and the water body can be witnessed from the top of thud building, we did not realise how much time flies when we visited this place especially enjoying the magnificent bird eye view of the entire city of Chicago.
It’s a pretty cool to go 17 miles per hour or 24 feet per second up a 103 story building. View is phenomenal and the glass-floored boxes are a thrill. You can see up to four states on a clear day and you can really appreciate Chicago’s layout from this height. Would highly recommend buying tickets ahead of time online to cut the long lines.
The Willis Tower (formerly and informally: Sears Tower, its name until 2009) is a 108-story, 1,450-foot (442.1 m) skyscraper in Chicago. The tower has 108 stories as counted by standard methods, though the buildings owners count the main roof as 109 and the mechanical penthouse roof as 110.[4][3] At completion in 1974, it surpassed the World Trade Center in New York City to become the tallest building in the world, a title that it held for nearly 25 years; it was also the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere for 41 years, until the new One World Trade Center surpassed it in 2013.
Holy cow, do not go here on a busy day, the wait time is insane. It took me 2.5 hours from end of line to the top of the building at the glass. To top it off, theres a line to exit the top floor. Other than the wait, the view from the top level is astounding. You can see the Chicago city line from the top, and especially when its dusk... The view is amazing, so colorful.
This place is amazing once you can get up to the top. The view is incredible and the time they give you is enough time to take good pictures and also admire the view. Make sure you do go on a sunny or mostly cloudy day or the view might not be worth it. Good thing is when you cannot see from the top they will let you know. Worth a stop!
WOW!!! What a wonderful experience to see Chicago from this vantage point, 103 floors up!!We went on a Monday morning, so the wait wasnt long, the elevator ride was only 60 seconds after seeing a short, informative film about the building history.Upon arriving at nearly the top, we walked around 3 sides before coming to the Skydeck, literally standing on glass 4 ft outside the structure! Very scary and amazing at the same time! This is a must do while in Chicago!
This tower is a #mustdo in chicago!!This skydeck offers the most amazing views of the city... I recommend to visit it on weekdays because on weekends the line can last many hours. My friends and I went on saturday and the line was 3 hours, so we left and return on Tuesday before 10am and the line was less than 30minutes... Dont miss this awesome view!!!
Great views. It took nearly an hour to work our way to the top. Multiple lines. Something resembling security with scanning, etc. We bought tickets online but still had to go through most of the lines. Once we arrived at the viewing level it was really crowded. Especially the one side where you must wait in another line to stand on the glass floor. When we had seen enough we had to stand in another line 20 minutes to get on the elevator going down. Overall, Im glad we experienced this. It was quite a stellar view.
We went at night. The view at night is very pretty. We were told by locals that the views are better from John Hancock building.Because we went later in evening there was no wait time to go up.I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because at the viewing area there were no staff to help keep line moving and therefore people stood on viewing deck taking so many selfies we had to wait 20 minutes even though only 7 people in front of us.There are many gift shops on way down.
Long wait times on the weekend. City pass helps you fast pass security but not to take the glass floor pictures. Nice view of the city but nothing really to do when you get to the top expect take a pictures on a small glass floor. You get 90 secs to take as many pics before being asked to move along.
This is a must visit in Chicago. The 360-deg view of the entire city and its surroundings are laid out like an amazing canvas. Day or night, doesnt matter, coz both have their own appeal. And you can spend as much time as you want. The souvenir shop on your way out is extremely well stocked with all possible memorabilia that your heart may desire. Dont miss out!!!Had an amazing time here
Bucket list for Chicago isnt complete without visiting here! One of the most well known icons on the city (formerly known as Sears tower). If you go early in morning can avoid huge lines.no other views like the ones from up here. The ledge experience was okay, have a minute to stand/take pics on the approximately 4 ledges they have.
Best place to view the city, the view is awesome from all sides and specially dek at 103 flr. We visited several times for office meetings on 66 and 67 flr where the elevator takes you in less than minutes. The location is close to all public transport so easy to reach.
This is an amazing building, a must-see for visitors to the Chicago area. The lines for the skydeck were long but moved quickly, but it was a bit pricey, $24 per person to go up and see the view. We passed on going onto the ledge overlooking the city as the lines for that were really long & it was an extra fee. Very nice gift shop both in the sky deck & in the lobby. The staff were helpful & friendly. Be aware that you have to go through a security checkpoint and cant take weapons or alcohol with you; i had a bottle of wine from the train in my bag & had to throw it away to go through to the skydeck.
“Everything looks peaceful from 1,353 feet”. -Ferris BuellerI’ve dreamed of returning here for years. It has amazing views and you truly are above the clouds. The staff is patient and lets you take multiple pictures, which is great since I spent over 30 minutes waiting in line for the sky deck. And about 20 minutes to purchase $24 tickets. It was painfully crowded for a Wednesday morning.
Feels like a fairly overrated experience to me. Dont go during the holidays or high tourist season or risk facing 3-4 hour long lines. If I had to wait that long, there better be a slice of cake waiting for me on top (spoiler: theres not, its actually another line, more on that later). The views at night also seem subpar in comparison to the views during the day, so if you have to go, go during a clear day.Ive gone to the tops of a dozen tall building and this had to be the most boring one. Theres really nothing very special about the Chicago skyline outside of the Willis Tower itself, not to mention the fact that the tower is positioned in a bit of an awkward area in terms of viewing stuff. We went and stood in line for about an hour and a half with a fast pass from Citypass (absolutely worth it for skipping lines at other places). Theres another line on top for glass bottom viewing platforms and during busy times youll be time limited for that..
On my second vacation to Chicago I had the opportunity to go to the famous Tower. I must say that it is a wonderful experience, the 360 views of the city is amazing. the experience of the glass cabin for photographs is something of madness, if you suffer from fear of heights it is a good therapy. In 103 you can see from your feet the rivers, buildings, shops and the daily life of the city. The bad thing is that the nearest parking lot is 41$ for 2 hours. the photographs that the staff of the tower makes you, the price for only one is 30$, if you want some souvenir like a sweater, it is 40$. It’s an amazing but you must be prepared to spend money.
Very nice views! I went there in a saturday with clear sky having fast pass. If I hadn’t I would have stayed in a line 2 extra hours! So at least for a weekend day I recommend the fast pass! I do not know for a week day! It is a different experience from the 360 Chicago! I recommend this by day and 360 by night!
Well this was a building with an amazing experience and certainly a view that takes your breath away!! Very educational from an historic and architectural design aspect. Staff is friendly priced fair to go up 110 stories and look out of one the tallest buildings in the world 🗺. Stayed about an hour
The view was outstanding, you should visit here on work days to avoid long boring lines.if you visit this iconic place on weekend then yll should prepare for a boring 3 - 4 hours lines.also one of the must visit place in Chicago.this building used to be the tallest building skyscrapper in the world !
Impresionantes vistas de la ciudad.Definitely it deserves the money and the time in the line. But, I have to complain about one of the workers who was pushing us to leave the balcony. We were five, after 1h30 min of queue, he only gave us few secs to took the pictures. He was very rude and unpleasant. Fortunately, the woman who was just in the balcony aside give us a second chance to take more pictures and we could finish our visit with a smile. Kudos to her.
The Willis Tower in downtown Chicago is one of the tallest buildings in the world and the second tallest building in North America. Who pays the entrance fee to get to the top will then stand on 222500 tons of constructed material and will be rewarded with a fabulous view that is second to none.
Parked for $18 for up to an hour in the garage directly across the street. Enjoyed our visit at sunset in December. There was no line and we went right up. A bit of a line to get out on the ledge but staff present took both photos that were offered for sale but also took photos with your personal phone. The staff I observed were all fluent and knowledgeable with most peoples phones, going into manual settings and making sure the photos would be great rather than just clicking off a few photos in auto mode.
Had such a great time visiting for our 3rd anniversary. Used the city pass to enjoy the skydeck. We got there first thing in the morning and it started off not too bad. The line was short. There was a group blocking 2 of the glass sky boxes for tourists brochures. This made our wait longer than wanted and was rude on their part. Once we got in there the view was amazing! I can check this off of my bucket list!
Great place and the experience is unique. I regret going to thethe 360 Tower because Willis beats it. Entry is $25 and fast pass is $70. I know its much expensive but its worth it... You could wait in the line up to 45min. Pictures are $30 but the most expensive is the parking. I had to pay $57... Yes $57 so be aware that an uber is cheaper
I recently visited Willis Tower with my family and it was very impressive. It is taller than the Space Needle and the Empire State buildings. One of the cool things about the tower is being able to stand in a glass like box that protrudes out the building. This allows visitors to basically hover over the street below. It can be scary for those who are scared of heights. You get to take pictures while in the box, so you have pics to show family and friends. Visiting the tower is not something I would do often because it can be expensive but its something you should do if you are ever in Chicago.
If you are scared of heights this isnt the place for you. You can spend as much time as possible moving around enjoying the view of the city from different directions. But the time on the deck is limited. you get there click pics and get out or your kicked out..lol! Amazing views. The first time its fun but not a must do is what I feel.Going in the morning as soon as it opens is the best as the place gets packed. specially on weekends its super crowded.
This place is amazing! You really feel like youre getting youre moneys worth. That moment when you step out of the elevator and the see the amazing city of Chicago, that feels priceless. Around 20-25 dollars per person, but you dont leave the tower thinking about the expense. You leave amazed. The skydeck is mesmerizing, and great for kids who dont worry about heights. Overall, a must-do in Chicago
Amazing views from the iconic building! The addition of the protruding glass balcony is amazing too!Expect crowds up there, as its a major tourist attraction in the city, but well worth the visit.Id recommend going just before sunset, so you can see it in the daytime, as well as when the sun is setting and after, depending on how much time you have to spend up there.
An experience well never forget but thats because of two reasons. One because being in the Sky Deck is one thing well have forever but also because the queues were crazy. We waited in the queue for about 4 hours, and that was with pre-paid tickets. It was the day after the Chicago Marathon so we expected queues, but nothing like that.Once at the top, there are also queues to get onto the glass ledge. They tend to go quickly though. The pictures were amazing from the top and did make the wait worth it.
I went early on a cloudy day, at the bottom they showed us a video of the visibility. You couldnt see a thing so I came back later a bit after sunset. It was awesome there was no wait at all. I had to wait a whole 3 minutes to get in the sky box, but that was it. Really good experience you can see a lot of the city. Very peaceful at night. Definitely worth a first time trip, lots of gift shops though. There is one at the top, one as you exit, and then another at the final exit, I found it more humorous than annoying.
So first and foremost,I absolutely love the architecture and the style of this building always have since I was a little kid. Im posting three stars on this review not on the building itself. From being out of town, like most visitors are. I was disappointed in the service and set-up including the length of time that way it would have taken to get to the observation deck and world-famous ledge. 2-3 hrs just to stand in front of an elevator and wait some more? I understand its a attraction and thousands come every day. I will have to set some time in the future to return here. Like I said I absolutely love this building, one of if not my favorite tallest buildings ever. I did not get to enjoy the view from up top unfortunately.
Amazing experience. Get tickets ahead of time to avoid lines. If you can, go at night, early in the week. No waits. There are two lines for the ledge. Each line goes to two different ledges, 4 total. You have 60 seconds on the ledge for 3 people or less and 90 for 4 or more
Info (as of 07/17/2017):General admission (Adults): $23General admission (Ages 3-11): $15Fast pass admission: $49Time: General admission takes 2-3 hours.I did this through the Explore Chicago pass which gives you the general admission. When you enter , you wait in the line for the sky deck. The line takes you to an elevator, the elevator takes you to the basement.Theres another queue here, for the security check (regardless of whether you have a prepaid ticket or not).Once you are done with the security check, you get in the line for tickets or if you have prepaid tickets you skip the queue (hooray!) and get to the next stage: a photograph. After the photograph, theres – you guessed it – another queue. This queue takes you to the ticket checker, who leads you to the next stage. The next stage is, yes, another queue. There are things to entertain children and some infoboxes to read along the way in this room but not much to keep you from getting bored. This queue takes you to the informational movie which is actually pretty interesting. It gives you the history of the chicago, starting with the fire and changes in architectural styles to the conception of the Sears tower. After the movie, theres another queue. This moves fairly quickly, thankfully. This queue finally brings you to the elevator! The elevator ride takes just over a minute ( i used a stopwatch to measure this). When you finally arrive on the sky deck after all this, its seriously not that impressive. Yes you get the views, but seriously not very impressive.Theres the skyboxes but the queues for that are LONG and time taking. There are two manned skyboxes where you get a limited time so those queues move pretty quickly, but the unmanned ones dont. The manned skybox queues also have professionally setup cameras that that take your pictures.Once you get downstairs you get to see your pictures. You can buy all the shots that they take for a low, low price of $50, NOT! These are already printed and if you dont buy them my guess is they are thrown away.Apparently the business model is to spend all this money on printing every single photo taken and throwing away the ones which arent purchased (which is a lot!!) rather than selling them for a more reasonable price. The pictures are available online for purchase but each picture costs $30 online. Fuhgetaboutit! This is another patel-point that you may want to cross off your list but this strictly OK and so not worth the ~3 hour wait that it takes. Also, if you have elderly folk in your group, keep in mind theres absolutely no seating in all the queues that you have to wait through.
Formerly the Sears tower, you can head to the 103 floor and stand in a glass box. The glass floor is a really cool thing. They also allow you to take your own photos in the both. We showed up and the wait time was 3 hours so I paid the fast pass price. It took 15 minutes and was worth the money. I would give it five stars but its just too crowded.
Great place to see a lot of Chicago. Make sure you get there early and plan on spending a couple hours. Its not a quick trip but pretty nice. There was a wait to get tickets, and another wait when you get to the observation deck. View was pretty amazing.Id recommend getting the city pass of you want to make a day of it.
Huge tower with great awesome view. When it was finished it’s construction, Willis tower was the highest building in the world. When I visited the place back in summer 2015, the height of the tower showed in Barrak Obama’s units... 😲One of the iconic places in Chicago city. Somewhat expensive for our standards but the view is absolutely mind blowing... sky deck experience is marvelous 👍👍
As you can see, it was too cloudy to see anything from the top. I found it thoughtful and nice that we were told so many times that we should try to come back another day instead of going to the top for the view when there was such low visibility. They could have easily just taken our money, but they didnt and I really appreciated that. ☺
Horrible customer service. I have a service dog and they embarrassed me in front of other people asking regarding my medical condition and questions they do not have the right to ask. Very unprofessional. Making someone with a medical condition and properly trained and certified service animal cry is unacceptable. The view was ok once we finally got to it. They need to properly train their staff on providing high quality customer service.
Very busy spot, we came to Chicago at the end of March thinking it would not be busy. The wait for the Sky-deck was 3 hrs? They force you to purchase a VIP pass to avoid the 3 hour wait. With the VIP pass our wait was only 10 minutes. The photos they take of you on the glass sky-deck are top quality but they are extremely expensive $30 a photo. Cha Ching $$$. The people watching is incredible! The view of Chicago from atop of the tower is absolutely stunning! You can see everything!I highly recommend purchasing the VIP pass to avoid the wait.
I had a blast. I wouldnt be too keen on bringing little kids because of the air pressure and it can get crowded in the elevator. This gives you a really good view of the city. Great for family and friends to see and they give you pictures but you do have to pay for them.
We had a great experience! Read online to show up when it opened to avoid lines, and so we did and I highly recommend! Showed up 10 min before and they let us in immediately. No line!! So cool haha. We were in and out in 30ish minutes, seeing as we just wanted the pictures at the top. We did look at the informational parts of the line- interesting historical info as you go through the line. It said online it is usually a 2 hour thing. Theres a gift shop up top but when you get back down there is a bigger shopping center. Got our tickets through groupon- ended up being $22/person.
Very crowded but fantastic views of the city on all sides. If youre pressed for time I suggest the fast pass, you pay twice as much but youll save an hour of your life. The Ledge is the main attraction and it is thrilling to stand in a glass box 103 stories above the streets below.
I liked the experience its actually mind blowing standing 1300ft in the air on glass,And not to mention the ride to the top, You go from 0 to 100 real quick literallyIf your even in the city of Chicago you have to stop by and I hope its on a clear the views are amazing
An interesting place that will give you a phisical fear as you step on the glass floor. If you have patience to wait until they will show you the boring movie and to get into the elevator, you will have a nice surprise.Try to visit during nice days for the best experience and pictures.
Regularly a Must when youre in Chicago (2nd time). 35 $ could be ok when you like to see loads of backs of heads.** Amazing view when you won the fight to the glasses. I wanted to check the Skydeck (did not before) but you have nearly a minute for foto and fear to fall. So I recommend the 95th floor or the Hancock where the look-out is also great (Hancock: free entrance when you drink something) Because Chicago is. Yes the building really looks like a cigarette box** Not perfect because of Covid, the staff seems overwhelmed with the situation so in a bad mood
Super experience. Slightly long waiting times. Two hours to the elevator. And another hour to the glass floor. But you dont do it every day. And its not that expensive either. For example, 25 dollars for adults. So you cant do that anymore. I can only recommend it to everyone.
Tallest building in chicago down town.skydeck is available in this building.Have public rest rooms and cafeteria.Souvnior shops are also available.they have sweets too.the life there take you to the floor where skydeck is less than 1 minute duration. That is an exiting experience.
Go early. Theres _a lot_ of queuing. You queue for tickets. Queue for security. Queue for the lift up. Queue to get to the ledge where you have 60-90 seconds (enforced). You can queue as many times as you like ?! Then you queue to go back down. On a good day thats 2 hours of queueing. Not including any time you spend at the top. You can buy a fast pass.for 3x the price of youre right on time. Bought tickets online which was cheaper and avoided one queue. Views are good though.
It was a dream come true to me since going to the sky deck Lodge was on my bucket list. Ive enjoyed it a lot however I found the bottom glass quite blurry and you cant get really good pictures with your phone, especially when they only give you like 30 seconds or something to be there. (Because of the long lines). Still it was a Very pleasant experience, the view is fantastic, its impressive to see Chicago from up there. Nice souvenir shop and I also had a great traditional deep dish pizza!
Awesome. I came here to check out the Sky deck and it was everything I had hoped for. The sky deck is located on the 103rd floor of the Willis tower. I love that they have clear boxes protruding from the building that you can take awesome pictures in overlooking Chicago. I recommend this to anyone that hasnt already been.
My favourite building in Chicago. 442m high (plus radio tower), 110 floor, when it was built in 1970 held the highest building of the world record since 2000s, it has a beautiful skydeck (it was 23$ per adult) with a thrilling ledge and a beautiful view of city and the michigan river. Worth to go. Not as crowded as Manhattan skydecks..
Business junket to the 100 floor. The view was amazing! Clear skies and sunset. Having someone else pay for dinner and drinks was even better! It took two elevators to get there. If you have sinus troubles take some pseudofed before hand....Amazing views. I am not the best at heights, but really didnt have too much trouble. It would have been nice to have had a key as to the buildings we were viewing, but having taken the Architecture Tour earlier really helped. Bring your drivers license as there is fairly tight security. Recommend highly.
No lines! We got there around 10am and the place was practically empty. It took us no time at all to get onto the elevator. The glass overlook is very cool but youre timed so no one takes too long looking around. That doesnt stop anyone from hopping back in the line though and the personnel are fine with it.Veterans dont forget to show ID! We get in free!
My wife and I purchased city pass tickets to visit the skydeck and Im glad we did. We passed over 200 or more people on the way up and only took us 20 or less minutes to get to the top. Others must have waited hours. The scenery was absolutely breath taking. Very awesome and the highlight of our whole experience!
You must see the amazing view of ChicagoThe Willis Tower, built as and still commonly referred to as the Sears Tower, is a 110-story,[4] 1,450-foot (442.1 m) skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois. At completion in 1973, it surpassed the World Trade Center towers in New York to become the tallest building in the world, a title it held for nearly 25 years; Wikipedia
Willis tower provides a beautiful view of the city. Unfortunately, I went when it was early winter, but thankfully still had a decent view of the cityscape. We came during the weekday so there was not too long of a line. I can only imagine how bad this would be during peak tourist time. If you plan on coming here during the summer, I would highly recommend shelling a little bit of money or opt for the citypass to skip the line. We passed many empty rooms where there were lines set up to guide people to the elevator. There is an extra queue at the top to stand and take pictures in the glass box above the city, so be aware of that as well. Otherwise, this is a standard must see if you have time. I have heard you can go to the Hancock building for a drink and skip the wait to see the city.
Such a disappointment, we bought the tickets in advance to come to the Willis tower, excited and expecting the best view Chicago has to offer. Unfortunately, for the day we schedule it we have to reschedule due to low visibility, which is totally understandable, we came the following day and for our surprise, Willis tower is closed due to high winds….. here’s my issue, I know we can’t fight against nature,however:-why can’t we receive an email notifying us that is going to be closed?-What about a phone call?It is unfair, we came all the way from Miami and not a single email saying that sky deck it’s closed. The communication system with the costumer must be improved to avoid this type of situationsThank you
Definitely worth a visit when in downtown Chicago :) its an historical landmark, after all. The wait is reasonable, staff is friendly. I actually almost wished we had a longer line to sit in because the halls are full of facts and little interactive things about the tower. When youre done at the skydeck, the elevator down takes you to a gift shop with a concession/eatery area. Thats nice enough, but the food really isnt anything special.
The elevator ride was amazing. Even tho it is a little pricey it is worth it for the view and experience. We didnt feel rushed to view everything and go back down. We were able to really spend the time and take it all in. We were even able to plot out a few extra stops that we didnt realize were so close.
Privileged to work at Willis Tower when visiting Chicago as my office is there. Great views from observatory. Try to go off peak hours in morning to avoid long lines. Beautiful views of Chicago from the top. We took several pictures at the Ledge which is made of all glass. Had a blast as we were not afraid of heights. They let you take pictures with your cell phone and hence you are not obligated to buy their ledge pics. However the aerial drop picture they took was amazing so we bought that.
$23 regular admission or I got it for $18 on Groupon. Its not bad if you have never been up there. It was fun. I liked it going during the day, so I can actually see all the buildings and streets instead of just lights. There was no line downstairs and only a few people in line for the glass box. It was a bit funny to see some people getting scared to step in the box, but everyone got over it and enjoyed the view. The pictures they took for you are $30 each. The gift shops actually have some nice stuffs, not junky stupid things.Oh yeah, you can also schedule in advance for a private dining breakfast, lunch, or dinner there. The lunch and dinner are just Giordano, which I think its pretty bad pizza so its not worth the money. Breakfast is caterer by the private club in the building, so it should be better!
Exciting thing to stand on the glass deck. Must to visit to go in Chicago. Get there early in the morning there are no long wait. The view from 103 is breathtaking.Standing on the glass floor is quite a challenge. Fantastic but also awesome. There is also a souvenir shop at the lookout tower. Great experience, highly recommended!

2022-02-25Absolutely loved it in my very recent visiting,Best time to visit is between 5 pm to closing. We can enjoy Day view, Sun set & city with millions of lights…! The lake view from here is crazy. As usual parking is difficult & paid parking are available too. There are tons of reasons to say this is one of the best place to visit always.

2022-05-21Its was absolutely stunning view of city. Just grab a drink and find a place to sit and you can enjoy your evening perfectly. The place is always crowded so it’s advisable to book it. One of the top most things to do while you are in Chicago.

2022-03-15This was my first time in Chicago and coming to this place was truly wonderful. Although, there was some wait, I can completely say the experience is totally WORTH IT. I would have loved more time going in the ledges glass boxes. My recommendation is to have all your phones ready to take pictures because time goes fast. I enjoyed the views and you can really see how beautiful is Chicago.Note: Make sure you go in a day that the skies are clear ;)

2022-05-20Beautiful views. A little pricey. We did not pay extra for the expedited tickets, the wait wasn’t too bad, but be prepared to stand for awhile waiting in line for elevator. They allow only one Minute in the pop out windows, so know what photos you want to take in advance.Would still recommend checking it out, the views are spectacular.

2022-04-15Touristy? Yes. But wow. This is such an important part of skyscraper history. I love that they have a little historical museum before you ride up! Incredible views, but be sure and monitor the weather before you go up. Staff was friendly and helpful too.

2022-06-10Great experience!! An iconic must visit place of Chicago. You get 120 seconds per turn. But you can go back in queue and go multiple times. Even the museum part of the path while going to the sky deck was amazing!! Make sure youve enough space on your phone cz youre about to take a bunnnnch of pictures!!!

2022-05-01Have you been to Chicago, if youve not been to the Willis (Sears Tower) sky deck? Great 360 views from flow 103 with views to neighbouring Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan in the distance! Needless to say, try coordinating your visit on a clear day! The photo service was pricey, which I only opted for to complete the experience, but wouldnt advise.Try to get there early to avoid long waiting queues. You can even buy tickets at the location even if the online booking service says there are no time slots available! In case you have to wait, there are some fast-food restaurant options at the base.

2022-03-02The observation deck was a cool experience! I found the Willis Tower to have a much different approach to observation decks than those in NYC. I tend to prefer the outdoor option that Top of the Rock and the Hudson Yards buildings have. Something about the open air makes the experience more immersive. Additionally, I’m not a huge fan of how the glass boxes you stand in don’t face the skyscrapers of the city. Instead, they kind of look out on the flat portion of the city. This left me feeling a little underwhelmed. With that said, I’d definitely make this a destination if you’re in the area!

2022-06-28At 1,353 feet above the ground and only 1.5 inches between you and a plummet, the SkyDeck at Willis Tower is an incredible experience. The views from the 103rd floor are amazing, with 360° views of the city. The only thing I would have hoped is that the SkyDeck Ledge was on the side of the building overlooking north or east, so you could see more of the city.
