Whole Foods Market in other cities:
Overall, this Whole Foods is great. I’ve been going here for years now and people are always friendly and helpful. My one complaint is that they never seem to have staff who know how to cut prosciutto. They typically leave the tough skin on, which is inedible and should be trimmed before slicing. Prosciutto is not cheap, and regularly paying for improperly cut product is simply unacceptable.
I came to grab some groceries and some dinner for the night, and this Whole Foods location always has the worse quality hot food bar. Out of all the Whole Foods I’ve shopped out, this one disappointed. Food is old, hard, they don’t replace the trays.I used to live in Austin and Long Beach - PCH, DTLA, and those locations spoiled me with the hot food sections. Please do better, especially when coming at 6 PM — your dinner crowd would thrive. Come on!
Cant speak to the integrity of the entire market, but the specific departments that I visited were very helpful. The gentlemen behind the seafood counter were quick and very accommodating with all the shellfish I purchased, reasonable pricing considering how much I bought, Also gave me about 10 scoops of shredded ice for my cooler to keep everything well chilled. The Gentleman at the bread counter Accommodated me by creating a large container of 9 tarts in short order, which were delicious. The young man working at the cheese/pasta display Told me to accomplish my other shopping 1st so that he could more accurately complete my custom order of fresh cut pasta, which I greatly appreciate. I thought this trip would take an hour, it took 20 minutes. Value of the food was also surprisingly high, I was impressed that $50 worth of groceries stretched me more than 3 days. Im going to use the extra mussels and clams to create a chowder, since I purchased way more than I actually needed. Of the 10 Whole Foods locations I have probably visited over the last 4 years, this one certainly ranks near the top in terms of customer service and value. For those curious, my original dish was a Frutti de Mar, which turned out fantastic and way too big thanks to the fresh ingredients. I wish I lived closer, I would probably be a more regular customer. Thanks Guys!
Great place to shop for groceries. Very clean. Very prepared for covid 19. I seen employees cleaning everything and made me feel comfortable to shop. They had a great security team greeting people at the front door reminding people about the mask requirements. 10 stars super great location.
Not a bad place to shop...the one I visited had a parking lot that remained so crowded that I wound up paying to park on the street.Lots of great selections of food...at premium prices. Expect to pay a bit more to shop there as opposed to Marianos or Jewel.I ordered some deli slices while there; the woman behind the counter, while competent at her job, exuded little warmth during my transactions with her.
I really used to be in love; with this whole foods over here on Broadway ! Since I moved over here in Edgewater, I would go there quite often because this is a nice big beautiful,1 convenient friendly place but since I have been a regular customer,And I take my time to view all of the items because theres anc its a big store and I may not get to see or find everything ,and I dont want to be one of those people who says I never saw that there or whatever... but here lately the security that they have there has made me not so happy to go there Im a Black man I have done great things for, Chicago And for this Community!but my health is not as UT was when I was a teenager, and I do like to see and meet and congregate with my community because a lot of them I dont know so I figured I going to Whole Foods it will give me back in touch with my community and Whole foods is supposed to be that venue that brings us together but when a person is monitored and followed all the time there there and then later being accused of this and accused of that! Im sorry that doesnt make things better for me make me happy to go inside and feel welcome I have no reason for anyone to I think that when people make assumptions about how other people look or dress or act in a free situation its hurtful to be accused of stealing and the manager agrees with this decision of speculation it upset me I have no need to feel need to still anything and what they dont know is I help people every Sunday Saturday every day to be exact I love Whole Foods Whole Foods was like my house my home and I would never steal or disrupt my home thats for damn sure anyone can tell you that so I certainly wouldnt do it to places offer to me healthy food! So I am going to protest because of the evenings that whole food is bought on the Edgewater and I feel fake chains I would not attend that particular Whole Foods Ive lost the interest in even attempting to shop there anymore that is unfortunate but it actually taught me how people really react to who I am and what I d, and what they expect me to do! I hope someone from Whole Foods read this cuz Im simply upset that Whole Foods is changing their security and not their minds within our community because Whole Foods responsibility to the community is 2 just keep their community Safe, healthy, and more importantly. Informed . ..God bless !!! And by the way I found a much better Whole Foods location, it does take a while or a pretty minute to get much is a ways to get there but if convenience the new Whole Foods on Chicago Avenue its wonderful people catch it out I am!
I went to work today faburary 08th 2022 as a prime shopper in this whole foods edgewater it was my first day in this location so I do not know the store yet around 2 pm I was lookin for a lip blam for a customer as a prime shopper of course I spent 20 minutes I did not find help there was a kind lady and a kind man they helped me but we did not found it until another lady who worked on that area ( beauty and essential oils ) wearing a brown shirt and a gray pants she came angry to me and said it is in the aile 7 and it was not there she was like ( youre laying) I told her that it is not there she was so angry I do not know why I told her multiple times that it is not there but she keeps ignoring me I was really upset I cried a lot I was shaking, my boss even was upset by the way thank you for your support ...I went to the bathroom I cried a lot because she made ma day a horrible one ..why can we just be kind and calm why do you have to be so rude ..You made ma day so horrible I felt my self embrassed , I was just trying to do my job and get a little help since it was my first day ...I will never forgot this day and unfortunately I will never get back to this store only because of her
Whole Foods has the best cookies in the world. They have a cheese monger. Its clean, well lit and staff are super nice. Freshest fish and they smoke the fish too. Wide selection of locally produced and grown products. You can also bring your Amazon returns there to be shipped. Very convenient!
Clean, spacious store with freshly prepared food available for take-out, such as pizza, gelato, sushi, noodles, sandwiches and a deli. Excellent selection with an emphasis on quality. Reasonably priced considering what youre getting. This place reels you in, hook, line and sinker.
I had a traumatic experience with Whole Foods from many years ago due to a severe service problem at another location. At the time, I swore never to patronize them again. However, Ive gone to this location twice in the past couple years for items I couldnt find at Marianos. (The Edgewater Marianos is relatively small, and often doesnt have items on my shopping list.) On neither occasion did this Whole Foods have any of the everyday items I had on my list. Both times I left without buying anything. I have little reason to return. I find myself ordering items more frequently on Amazon (but not Whole Foods items). And, I go way out of my way to Paulina Market for meat products when needed. It takes a lot of time out of my day to go there, and its more costly, but I always walk out of there feeling valued as a customer.
This Whole Food is close to where I live, so its very convenient for us to go to. They have a decent selection, but I have found the prices to be quite high here compared to other grocery stores we go to. I mainly come here to get items that are more difficult to find at other grocery stores like comte cheese, caslevetrano olives, etc. All the staff I have come across here has great customer service and are super friendly.
This is my neighborhood Whole Foods. It’s a good place to get what I need. They’ve got great options available. Service is good. As someone who lives with someone with dietary restrictions, I find it unethical that the options that fits within these restrictions are almost always more expensive. I feel like Whole Foods is profiting off peoples’ sicknesses and vulnerabilities.
Unfortunately this store has a lot of empty shelves, especially for sale items. I was there today, the first day of the sale and lots of sale items were already sold out. Today they had no ground lamb, no cereal that was advertised and many other sale items with empty shelves. Isnt this a bate and switch? I shop at this store all the time and in the past month, this has been common.
For the most part I always have a pretty good experience. But when I go to the meat counter and ask to have something ground up like lamb, they are never able to do it... the butcher always seems to be on lunch (3 separate occasions and differing times in the day/evening). Otherwise always good experience.
Good about refunds. Org strawberries were hardAs though having been frozen. Before Amazon these would not have been sold by whole foods.Amount of cocos in chocolate ice cream seems reducedMaybe to hold price. Little things that all groceries indulge in creeping in with more of a bean counter mentality. Can the pepperoni be sliced any thinner on pizza?
The Staff here is great Very Friendly & Accomadating! They are helpful when I ask for an item & typically ask Me if I need assistance before I do which is greatly appreciated! There are Many great deals & I am able to shop here pretty often even though Im budgeting (even before Quarantine) They took the highest measures of safety as soon as The virus Hit & I felt very safe shopping in store at this location!
So this door if its into my three tiered shopping plan. things that I really like, and things that I really want to taste good every time I have them like a really really good burger come from here. so the things that might be hard to find. but regular things like milk and frosted flakes they can come from Jewel. dont get me wrong Jewel has great sales and then other things like cleaning items when I need real bleach not organic easy on the eyes and hands bleach that can come from Walmart or the dollar store especially when you buy it by the five gallon bucket.
Feels very ghetto and not up to typical Whole Foods standards. Parking lot is confusing the way it is striped and the entry is awkward to get in to without causing damage to your vehicle due to the way the curb cuts into the entry. Went to buy some fresh fish there today and asked if it was fresh. The clerk merely said, Its fresher than the piece under it. Needless to say, we did not buy the fish. Big price tag and a big disappointment.
What a refreshing place to go grocery shopping. Such kind and helpful staff, and excellent produce and floral options. Their olive bar made me feel like I had died and gone to savory heaven. Also, did I mention their soaps and herbal teas? It’s amazing, and now a lot more affordable with their partnership with Amazon.
A unique shopping experience today at this location. People are quite friendly and that a different a shorty red food compared to some of the other Whole Foods places I was not privy to View... again people were quite friendly and I would go back there more often and I would just to have lunch. Positive experience!
Their products are fantastic, the pricing is kind of high. But the place needs a cleaning! If youve ever been to the bathroom inside this location youll know what Im talking about. Its filthy, garbage on the floors and they are regularly out of hand towels. They could do a lot better.
Yes, Whole Foods is pretty expensive. However, you should know your own budget and what is affordable for you. We do not and would never buy ALL of our groceries from here. My husband is a vegetarian and WF has a great deal of options. They also have Halo Top ice cream which is simply amazing. This store on Broadway is beautiful and the staff is great. Ive not had a bad experience at this store. Its very clean as well and in a great part of the city.Side note - it is hard for me to give a bad review unless Ive truly had a negative experience. So, understand that my review is mostly based on service provided by staff and the aesthetics.Anyway, I hope this helps you and look forward to seeing some people in neighborhood. Say hi if you see me! :-)
I like this whole foods. Its easy to navigate and I like the fact that they sell beeswax and Coco butter in bulk. This grocery store is expensive but there are certain health products /food that I can only find here. The store is wheelchair accessible & there is handicap parking available. Unfortunately, Whole Foods does not offer electric wheelchairs for customers.
To many employees doing nothing but standing around customer service & cashiers by the door.No one acknowledges you are even there. Thats very rude, after spending $40 on 2 bags of grocerries. They should be ashamed of themselves. The security door woman gets my applause for saying goodbye. The rest of them could kiss my A..!
We were so excited when Whole Foods came to the neighborhood and shop there often as Its the closest major market. That being said weve found that their prepared food really miss the mark flavor wise and is never consistent. Theyre often out of stock of the items we want. Theyre bakery has very little selection and their bread is undesirable and not fresh. I do appreciate they have quality meat and a great selection of bulk and other hard to find cooking items.
This is literally the worst Whole Foods I’ve ever been to. Was there recently with some friends in December and we were there to buy some flowers and some snacks while we drank some wine and got to catch up over a light healthy dinner. Anyway, I purchased one of the soul vegan prep-packed dinners (they come cold) and when I went to the dining area to microwave it, there was NO MICROWAVE. I was shocked, literally. Every Whole Foods I’ve ever been to has a microwave, water, utensils, condiments, etc. in the dining area. I spoke to several staff to ask where the microwave was an 2 staff members said there was no microwave, it had broken and just never been replaced. I spoke to a manager who said they got rid of it because microwaves are unhealthy??? And finally some staff members just heated up my food for me in the staff break room where there was a microwave. I’m just like really disappointed with the events that took place. Whole Foods sells a lot of pre-packed food that requires a microwave to be eaten, so like it’s just ridiculous that when the microwave broke it wasn’t replaced. Not to mention, if you purchase something from the hot bar, by the time you check out, and sit down to eat, the food is lukewarm. So you obviously need to microwave it. I don’t know but I know I won’t be coming back to this location. It was awful and I was literally so uncomfortable. The manager who spoke to me was just not sorry at all for the huge error that occurred in that store. GROSS.
I love this store, but there are still some changes that should be made. Before Amazon bought Whole Foods, the store was absolutely perfect, but it the changes that have happened are not good ones at all. There used to be a much larger eating area, which is now only a fraction of the size of what it was a couple years ago. It is now cramped, and slightly dirtier than it used to be. This is all thanks to Amazon Prime taking over that old space, rather than creating a separate space for them. The hot food section is also starting to slowly decline. While the options are still good, but it doesnt seem like it is as fresh as it used to be. If you can get it as soon as it comes out, then it is perfect, but otherwise, it is hit or miss. The grocery area is still great, just a lot more crowded with all of the people getting things for Amazon.
I miss Chicagos whole foods. This location is large and very well organized. The selection is close to that of the Lincoln Park store- but without the annoyance of having to travel to Lincoln park. The staff is always super friendly. My favorite store aside from the LP stores selection. Pro-tip anything you buy by the case at Whole Foods is 10% off and most case sizes are fairly small.
I love whole foods in general but this location is so convenient for the neighborhood. Its pretty easy to find everything and I like that its not as condensed/small as the boystown location. Doesnt feel too crowded. I was a bit let down that theyre now using purell wipes for the carts. They used to use a natural brand that wasnt made from harsh chemicals. Where are your standards going whole foods?
One of my favorite Whole Foods locations. Outstanding seafood and meat departments. Excellent wine selection as well. This store took over the space formerly occupied by Dominicks, so it is quite large and has ample free parking. The friendliness of the staff is second to none.
It has a great selection of produce. I love the dining area. I have purchased food from the deli, grill, buffet and stir fry area. I have never been disappointed. I buy alot of my sons food here since he allergic to certain foods. There is hardly a wait in line and the staff is always helpful.
I used to really enjoy shopping at this store because of its size and availability for parking. Grocery stores in Chicago often feel compact and congested. The Amazon grocery delivery has certainly changed the experience here for the worst. The parking lot looks the UBER waiting area at OHare. Drivers are parked in the wrong direction, often take up several spaces and the fire lane in clogged with drivers waiting to pick up deliveries. It almost feels unsafe, as these drivers arent paying attention to any of their surroundings. It felt like 60% of the shoppers in the store were AMAZON shoppers fulfilling orders. They are literally racing around the store with little to no regard for fellow shoppers. One of these shoppers tried cutting me in line, then she started arguing with the cashier that there was no line. The shopper looked so high and and really out of it. I wouldnt want any of these people responsible for handling my groceries. This store has become a warehouse with AMAZON delivery shoppers desperately trying to complete orders and make a couple bucks. Im reporting the store to CFD for unsafe conditions in the parking lot.
The selection of food items is average at best for a Whole Foods at this location but where it’s truly lacking is on the hot food bar. Items are not replenished on a regular basis even at peak times and the quality of the food is below what I’ve come to expect. That said, it’s still far superior to the other supermarket chains in the area.
I can find a great variety of item but the people working here are a hit or a miss. But more like a miss 99% they are glorified cashiers and the guy I asked for help he rolled his eyes and he had attitude, almost like a teenager just wanting to go back to his phone. Awful service but tons of goodies and quality.
Great staff at this Whole Foods branch. While everyone knows that the prices at Whole Foods in general, is more expensive than other grocery chains this branch is literally just one block from where I live in and is hard to resist going to for this reason (Id have to take the train or bus to get to a Jewel/Osco and since I have some mobility issues its often not worth the hassle). If you selectively buy things that are on sale, then Whole Foods prices end up somewhat comparable to regular grocery store prices. Of course, if you prefer to buy organic then WF has a lot of that as well as some conventional produce, though youll obviously pay more. And like I say, the staff here are friendly and helpful, making the experience a very pleasant one.12/2/2017 UPDATE: It might be time for the management here to do a refresher course on customer service w/ some of the staff. The majority are, as I observed in my original review, friendly and helpful. But Ive noticed that the past several times Ive gone, for some reason the staff who have rung me up or helped me were significantly lukewarm. While Ive come to expect that at certain chains, Whole Foods is WAY too expensive of a store to not offer friendly service to its customers. Believe me, I know how hard it can be working at a grocery store, and I know you probably get some really rude or crazy customers. But Id imagine that most of us are nice, decent people who dont go out of our way to try to make your jobs more difficult. Our lives arent exactly bundles of joy either, especially not with the cultural-political climate of this country nowadays. Were spending loads of money at your store. Please be nice to us if you can, especially if were being nice to you as well. Being nice doesnt mean you have to treat us like royalty or have a conversation with. Just smile a little and try not to show your annoyance, even if youre annoyed, especially if were not making unreasonable requests. Thank you.
Stopped in for a breakfast burrito and some coffee and both were simply not up to expectation. Its uniquely surreal that a business that advertises healthy and fresh would serve overcooked mediocre bad breakfast. Im from Texas and its sad to see how far the original vision for Whole Foods has fallen. Thank goodness H-E-B delivers.
An Amazon shopper, coughing and sneezing profusely, all while having difficulty pushing his cart (he looked weak) was allowed to continue working. Handling groceries and being in a crowded setting. Mitigation practices are succesful when they are ALL followed. When I told the customer service person, their response was: Well, they are wearing a mask, arent they?
A great selection of produce, Meats, Bakery, and no salt added tuna fish which is great for someone on low-salt diets, like myself. The organic tomatoes are better than Jewel or Marianos or anywhere else other than the farmers markets that are seasonal.A fantastic Bakery with wonderful breads. I love The Rustic and the Sourdough bread is authentic, better than other bakeries ! After 9:00pm, you can slice the bread yourself thin, medium, or thick you have three choices. Of course I always prefer the thin because I like to Toast My Bread a little bit and I dont like anything dohey. Fantastic place as always...with a informed & knowledgeable staff !
Use to be my favorite store but since Amazon bought it selection of Organic Produce has been very limited. They have been out of organic produce, especially vegetables for weeks now with explanation that they are having trouble with suppliers. For such a big store in hot location I expect to be better managed and stocked.
Solid products at an unreasonable price. If you’re trying to buy in bulk or get specific health food products, sure, but in my opinion prices are too high for everyday grocery shopping although they have improved marginally since Whole Foods was bought out by Amazon. They have hot food and pizza (rude pizza area staff in my experience) and a bulk section which a lot of other grocery stores don’t offer at all. It’s a chain health food store, it’s Whole Foods. People know it’s pricey. You should know what you’re looking for and be willing to spend more than a penny before shopping. Also, pizza bar has mediocre pizza for a dumbly high price and rude staff, particularly one unmotivated worker that could barely answer simple questions such as “Do you have plates?” By the way, the answer is no. It shouldn’t have been no. Pizza places should have plates.
I used Whole Foods florals for table decor for my wedding in June and it worked out wonderfully! Antonia was super helpful and great to work with! Antonia took the time to think through how many flowers I needed and made sure the peonies we chose were open enough for the wedding day. Everything was very organized and the flowers arrived on time/in great condition. Thank you!!
Many times I have ordered pizza from this edgewater wholefoods establishment . On several occasions, Ive have had terrible service from a couple of employees who prepare the pizzas. On two occasions, the pizzas were improperly prepared leading to two separate allergic reactions. Some employees who prepare the pizzas there dont seem to care about the customers.
Whenever I am at Whole Foods which is several times a week, I never fail to get my coffee here. The staff are very friendly and good looking. Its always a pleasure to sip my coffee at the bay window or in one of their tables. Its my favorite place to visit. The place is strangely relaxing and pleasant. Of course, they also serve the best coffee this side of Chicago.
Best on-site smoked slab bacon.Bathroom and carts cleaner that most stores. The best indicator of companies philosophy towards your health.Great staff, knowledgeable.Surprisingly, fellow customers often use bare hands to grab samples and are not very friendly towards children.
Its a Whole Foods, so its pricy, but the food quality is great. I like the sushi and the desserts from the prepared food area. They are out of tofu about 75% of the time I go there recently, but most other things Ive wanted are in stock (relevant considering the stocking issues most WF locations have been having recently in general)
The store was clean, well-stocked with a nice assortment of goods (although a little sparse on stage 1 baby food options), & the employees were very friendly & helpful! Its no secret to most shoppers that youre paying a little extra for that nice shopping experience though.
My favorite and the best place to shop for excellent products excellent service very nice employees very knowledgeable they always like to help. Not very expensive as you think. Alot of the products prices are similar to other stores if not cheaper. if some products are more expensive you would not regret what you are getting in the quality. They have a nice area to enjoy a meal, snack, or drink there. They even have 2 bars and quite a few food stations you can choose to go to
The biggest draw to this Whole Foods is the location. Its extremely convenient and really the first major supermarket in the area. Its always cleand and well organized and the staff is very friendly. It doesnt have as much of the specialty products as the main location in lincoln park but this was a great addition to the neighborhood.
For a place that strives to be know for organic, sustainable, and environmentally friendly, this place sure got one thing wrong:Why the hell would you ask if a customer wants a receipt or not if you wont take returns or exchanges without a receipt? Even on your exclusive products! You sure put your customer in a difficult position to always say yes for the stupid receipt - when the customer wants to be environmentally friendly! So stupid! You should just give the receipts without questions in the first place!Even Target takes returns or exchanges when you make a purchase with a debit/credit card!
Possibly one of the largest Whole Foods stores in the country. Unfortunately, the stock at this location seems plagued with damaged packaging. On the first day the store opened, I bought a jar of pasta sauce that wound up containing shards of glass inside of it, and which very nearly sent me to the hospital (was offered a $25 gift card by the manager. Haha.) Not only that, though. I shop at this store on seemingly a daily basis, and I seem to have to return one or two things every week that I bring back home to find have damaged packaging (exposed food). Im not sure why its such a problem for this store, but definitely be aware of this issue when shopping this whole foods.
Although there are many good things about this Whole Foods, there are also problems in the culinary or prepared foods area. Surprisingly, that is also the area where prices are highest.Where do I start? The hot food bar generally does not present well; selections appear over cooked, sloppyish, unappealing, and not appetizing My guess is that there is no one overseeing this department who has any particular skill or training in cooking or food preparation. There are also too many vegetarian dishes and not enough meat, chicken and fish.In the salad bar area, the lettuce invariably looks wilted, the kale has been drowned in whatever dressing it swims in.In the nearby refrigerated foods area, the usually tasty Sonoma chicken and tuna salads continue to increase in price and are now at almost $12 a pound. I do not pick these up anymore for that reason. That is just not a good value. In choosing an occasional Cesar salad, I am invariably disappointed - appalled even - when I find that the romaine lettuce beneath the plastic salad dressing container is now black and slimy. The same is true beneath where the packaged croutons were. Most of the remaining romaine is buried in an overabundance of shredded parmesan cheese, possibly to hide its poor quality. The cost of this 8.4 oz. quasi meal will set you back $8.99, by the way.If you want desert, there is ice cream around the corner in another refrigerated area. Dont expect to see all your favorite choices though. No butter pecan, no coffee flavored gelato, limited pistachio. I must admit that I may have missed some would be choices, however, as on several shelves the containers were covered in thick snow! So, is this neglectful attitude Amazons fault? Im not sure that it is, but it could be in part. Nevertheless - come on Whole Foods! Get your act together and hire some experts in food science, nutrition, and from the culinary arts! Your expensive prepared foods, such as they are, dont compete even with nearby fast food options.
Today there were 3 express lanes open with no line and only 2 normal checkout lanes open with long waiting lines. Im usually one to try and respect the express checkout lanes but when you are 8 months pregnant with a toddler who is ready to jump out of the shopping cart and you see you only have 16 items in your cart- you go express. Well, the employee checking out the customer in front of me really rubbed me the wrong way when she told me to get out of line. She had a snotty attitude and no sense of customer. Its amazing how one employee can ruin your opinion on the whole store
I went to Whole Foods in search of Ezekiel bread. I located the bread, and decided to also purchase an almond crossiant and cheese danish. I thought the almond crossiant looked a little dry and empty, so thats why I purchased the cheese danish as well. Thankfully I followed my intuition! I opened up the inside if the crossiant and was surprised, but not really. It was the poorest excuse for an almond crossiant I have ever seen or tasted. Whoever is in charge of the bakery needs some additional training asap. I paid $2.50 for a dry, crispy, and empty in middle, almond crossiant. Shame on you Whole Foods!
I visited this store, which is within walking distance, intending to purchase bottles of Chambord, Courvoisier, Absolut, as gifts. It was both surprising and disappointing that, not only didnt the store carry them, but the selection of better liquors at this store was so limited. They carry what looks to be hundreds of bottles of beer and a pretty heavy selection of wines, but they cant spare the space for fine liquors? (Good grief, at my previous location, even Walgreens and CVS carried them!)
Compared to other grocery stores, Whole Foods has the best food court. Many by weight choices with nutritional information. They also have Chipotle-like bowls, sandwiches, and pizza by the slice. Theres a nice bar and coffee stand as well. The grocery store area almost always has free samples of something. Also, since they got bought out by Amazon the price of many produce items dropped.
Anyone ever tried their packaged veal chorizo? I did and will repurchase. I like to browse this store and maybe try something new or a product that is a healthier alternative to my favorites. I also make sure to check the bulletin boards on my way out because theres usually info on neighborhood happenings and such.
This is the best Whole Foods in Chicago!! Was so thankful when Whole Foods took over this Dominicks location and couldnt be happier with the result. Unlike other WF locations in Lakevjew and River North, you dont feel like you are squeezing by other customers through tiny aisles. The space is well laid out, always stocked, and the staff never fails to be friendly and helpful.
I will never shop at this store again. Everything is over priced. Go to their cheese shop. Everything is as least $3 higher than Marianos. And its the same item and same venders. I went through the entire store and its like that in every department. No wonder they call it whole paycheck. Unless youre a hipster, dont go there. Its not worth the money. They claim to be so forward thinking but in fact theyre just greedy.
This use to be my favorite grocery store, but I noticed that some of the staff is overtly impolite. I went for a coffee and one of the baristras hurriedly took the tips money from the jar. Wow!! I tookbreal offense to it, as I am a person of color. Her move did not rest well with me, AT ALL! I simply stated that I am not a thief or a liar. Even though there was only $3.00 in the jar. If it was a million, I dont want it, as it is not mine.We are living in strange times. And if this is acceptable behavior for some of WF staff, Id rather not give it another dollar of my hard earned money!!!!!
While my experiences here have been par for the course as far as most grocery stores are concerned, the butcher shop in this particular Whole Foods is awful. Ive never once come across anyone in the department who seemed even slightly interested in helping, and theyre always out of everything I need.
Though not as it used to be when I first encountered them in Tustin CA in 1980, nr when they first came to Chicago, Whole Foods does give back to schools with garden, salad bar projects and support to nonprofits. I do not shop there so often, because I live in wonderful Rogers Park in Chicago where I have access to organic food from my garden, Morse Fresh Market, Go Grocer, Heartland Cafe and General Store, Arya Bhavan, The Coffee Shop, and Glenwood Farmers Market. The politics of their leader may stink, they may have more than ordinary turnovers o staff, and prics may be to high for those who depened on prganic, yet their bdget does not match prices, but they do not sell me old dried up produce, and have a good return policy. They also donate food to Food Not Bombs, sell organic seeds for gardening, and their stores are clean for the most part. My favorite employee at the store in 60660 is Shajeeah. BTW, they are one of the few stores besides RAW in west Loop that sells coconut wraps. Alkaline and gluten-free, so no inflammation, no GMOs, no pesticides, no guilt. And plant-based, so no eggs, no animal milk, no honey. Newleaf used to be my favorite Ma and Pa natural foodstore. My other favorite Ma and Pa or small, friendly natural foodstores are Goods in Detroit on or near Cass Ave. and in Washington DC on H Street. Love the idea of more willing to donate organic produce to United Church of Rogers Park for free Sunday meal. Love the spaciousness of the store on Broadway for wheelchairs, walkers strollers, free wifi, and ample seating indoors or outdoors. The mosaics on the building are cool, too.
I used to love Whole Foods and especially this store. Now, I can’t seem to find what I need and when I place a delivery order there is ALWAYS something wrong. Today it was a replacement item that was half what I needed and the shopper wouldn’t respond via app. I’m a frontline worker, exhausted and didn’t have time (or energy) to go into the store myself. To add insult to injury. The order never showed up. I had to cancel 20 min after my delivery window had closed. Amazon’s handling of delivery from Whole Foods is abysmal and I’ve been in contact with them endlessly about it. I’ve been charged for items not delivered, had items miss picked and charged too much, and the delivery window is rarely respected. Either way too early (hours) or too late.So here I am, leaving a public review. Use Instacart & marianos- they have been amazing, prompt and sooo communicative & helpful.I doubt I’ll darken the door of a Whole Foods again, or ever use Amazon’s food delivery service.
This market was nice clean and had a wide variety of items more then in years past but still is pretty pricey for the same items you can find elsewhere for less if its specific specialty items you are looking for and dont mind paying a bit more then this is the place for you they have a very nice selection of freshly cooked food salads soups etc. to choose from women wont mind the nice organic makeup lines they carry and some clothes as well.
Hopefully Amazon will repackage everything into foodkits and you will also be able to click on a choice of outfits for your temporary waiter and cook who will be dropped off with your food. Amazon should buy Monsanto as well while they are at it, since they sell so many GMO products in Whole Paycheck. In case you thought you were going to get healthy notice how alcohol keeps creeping into the produce section, in addition to the wine bottle tower obstacle course that you generally have to navigate to pass by the meat, in order to get to the rest of the store. Cant forget the booze and the meat or some years down the road the medical system might not profit from your suffering as much. Still the best ubiquitous orifice to by natural and organic and sometimes even local products....some of them even feesh and unprocessed...... best advice: Grow a garden!
The security guard was on his cellphone when I arrived and when i left he was still in open between the main doors and the sidewalk on the cellphone which we as customers pay his cellphone bill so he could at least hide or take a break instead of being on his cellphone in the open while attempting to count&see if customers had a mask on.
Im a very regular WF shopper. But Im becoming very disallusioned! They do not even have a good variety of organic on their salad bar. Even their detox salad is regular gmo, pesticide vegees that I could get @ Marianos for allot cheaper. You mean you cant take organic beets from the produce section for the salad bar? This store had less variety than most! Also NOT ONE pastry in the bakery is organic. Are you kidding me. If its not non-gmo, not organic then its the same low quality, pesticide, hormone, virus laden food that is causing a pandemic of Cancer. You arnt selling out are you?!!!Come on Whole Foods, certainly YOU CAN do better than that!!!
Hughe selection on all grocery items you may need including large selection of international itemsRecently noticed a large and pretty good selection of wines from the moderatly pricedto medium nonentless popular and good quality especially for the grocery store of maybe lil bit too cramped but it is neighborhood get it all in one place grocery store! It gets my 5 star !

2022-05-05I like this grocery store for a lot of good reasons. First of all, the store is clean, well-stocked, and has a nice layout. The products are fresh, and the quality is good, plus there is a huge variety of options. Second, I only went here recently for the first time, so I basically went here once, but the customer service I experienced was great. The staff are all very nice, like every single person I talked to was nice and friendly. Most of the time, I encounter some pretty rude staff whenever I am doing my groceries, but this store is different and I like it. Good treatment from the staff and their helpfulness is such a vibe for me. Last but not least, I am so pleased with the goodies I bought from this store. The produce was where I got to choose from their huge variety of options. The options are also fresh and of good quality. I wanted pastries and, like the produce, they have a variety of options for it. It was fresh and tasted good too. I only bought a few, and all of them were delicious. I also got food, and an entrée plus two sides cost me about 10 dollars, which is a pretty good deal, and in fact, the food I got was so delicious that it could definitely beat a restaurant’s food. I highly recommend this store. Prices are fair and reasonable.

2022-03-01Yesterday I came here early since I have something to do by afternoon. I bought our groceries to put in our cabinet and in ref. There are few people inside and it seems that I will not be a hassle in choosing my grocery. There are also no long lines at the counter. I went first to the selection of chips and chocolate. They have chocolates with different brands. Then I went to the selection of juices, soda and alcohol. After that I went to the selection of produce to buy vegetables and fruits. Lastly, I went to the meat selection. There are different kinds of meat that I can choose. It looked yummy when I cooked it. Some are expensive and some are not. I think I bought everything I needed and I went to the counter to pay for my purchase. Well try to go here in the morning.

2022-03-12Went to this location today for the first time and it was very clean and organized. Prior to coming i made sure they had items in stock on their website and sure enough when i came, they had the items available. I am always trying out new things and i happen to find the new califia half almond and half oatmilk there. Also, i love acai so i got some pretty cool freezer pops as well which were very good. The lines were semi long at the regular counters but the self checkout was super quick i was in and out within 10 min. Definitely coming back to this location.

2022-05-17Theyre always well-stocked, produce is always fresh and they have a wide assortment of vegetables, especially their lettuce, my personal favorite is the romaine, and the fish is outstanding too, especially the candied and smoked salmon. Id try more types of fish but theyre on the pricey side, although well-worth it for that occasional splurge. Cod is a good choice if youre looking for a meaty type of fish that cooks relatively fast and doesnt leave a fishy aftertaste. Its moist and tastes delicious.

2022-03-27Despite being a sizeable Whole Foods location, this one still has a neighborhood vibe to it. Unfortunately they did away with the bar during the pandemic to make room for in store and drive-up ordering. I feel like produce is often limited to only organic, more expensive items. Fine for most things, but I prefer having the choice based on what Im looking for.

2022-06-03Walk in the store, made it all the way to the seafood section. Was getting items, Jeremy (works in the floral dept) comes to Me, asks if My dog is a service dog, I said “Yes. He services Me”. I then turn My head and speaks to the person working in the seafood dept. Jeremy, stood there waiting, looking at Me weird and disrespectful. As the seafood assistant and I finished talking, I turned to speak to Jeremy, asked if he was ok. He says “I’m going to have to ask you to leave the store”. I gave the man the meat, walked all of the way back to the customer service counter. Waited for a bit. Tito, came from the back. During his speech he says “we are now enforcing no dogs unless they are service dogs”. As he and I were talking, a lady came in the store with her dog. He shows Me that the dog has to be of a certain height and not above the waste. Like really, just too much. I went to sit in the parking lot, the lady never exited with her dog. I’m currently facing the door typing because I’m letting the car cool, she still hasn’t exited. Now tell Me, what is the issue? Whole Foods employees be disrespectful, they just do want to assist

2022-02-11The store itself is generally well-stocked, and while usually busy, the lines are always staffed and move pretty quickly. Post-pandemic we almost exclusively use Amazon’s pick-up service, and it’s very efficient—using the link provided allows you to give them 10 mins warning before you arrive, so they can meet you just about or after you pull in.I’ve only ever had one bad experience with this, where our order was accidentally switched and given to another customer for pickup. Unfortunately, though this happens rarely, since Amazon’s pick-up service is separate from Whole Foods’ system, the store couldn’t replace our order, or give us a refund at the store—the refund had to be taken care of via the Amazon app or Amazon’s Customer Service. As I said, this has only happened to me once, and that I know of has not happened to anyone else I know who use this service here.All-in-all, this Whole Foods is our go-to location for groceries, and we no longer shop at the nearby Mariano’s or Jewel-Osco.Add: Their beer selection post-pandemic has lessened in quality, with more 4-6 packs of widely-produced (some local, most not) brews, and fewer single bottle/small-supply of special releases, small-batch, and seasonal special selections. Thankfully, Bourbon County can still be found when in season.

2022-06-23It is a nightmare at times,at best okay. unlike other Whole foods stores I previously had shopped in. Unfortunately, I have to use that WF as I dont have a car & it is the only major food supermarket within walking distance from my place, especially in bad weather.First the produce is horrible most of the time. Natural organic doesnt mean a fruit or vegetable should look rotted or moldy! Even the garlic cloves are rotten. I have had to many cloves ones to count! The potatos & yams only look good occasionally, the white baking potatoes usually have dry rot. I have brought this to the produce managers attention to no avail. The fresh meats: sometimes looks ok but usually not appealing. Just the other day while I was getting pork chops a huge fly was crawling on tip & inside some rolled beef. There are no ultra violet lights or anything to prevent bugs . I alerted the counter person about the fly & had her put back the pork chops I wanted. I was nauseated!Cold meat section: Several times the cold section where they keep packaged chicken was not on high enough temperature setting because v the thermometer is hanging advove it,but its not even inside enough, its barely in. That said, it should read below 40° degrees-this was near 50°! When I told the meat person, the man just said Thanks, yeah Ill go check it out, but the thermometer isnt really in there. So why the heck dont they keep it in a spot where they can get an accurate read? Otherwise whats the point of having a thermometer?!! Really!! Do they want people to get sick? Scary!Deli Counter: one day I was at the deli counter to order & there were 2 people there to serve that turned me off. The guy who came out of the back room to help me had a long avarice beard and unkempt hair that was not covered. He had a mask in but his beard didnt fit in it and it was all hanging out. I went to the customer service and told her I dont want to complain, but I think did servers should have proper attire to wear to serve food. To her credit she walled with me by the deli counter passing by just to see what I was taking about. She said she sees my point & will talk to managers & group about this. The next time I came in I was delighted that everyone at the counter had proper fitting masks & hair covered. This is why people should complain or write reviews because thats the only way change can happen! Food safety is extremely important for all of us & we need to make sure stores stay vigilant about this. Its no joke, people can get very sick, end up hospitalized from food poisoning or even die. I hope that WFoods
