Whole Foods Market in other cities:
I used to love this Whole Foods for the salad and hot food bar. This year it is getting worse and worse every single week. What’s going on?Update: I was really encouraged to see how fast wfm responded to my question! I really hope the food bar gets better. It’s gotten to the point that it’s half empty no matter what time you come. Sushi is still great and seems much better staffed than the hot food and salad.
I go here for everything! It’s like one of my happy places..lol.But I love the personal care products and of course the consumable goods! You have rather competitive street metered parking out front. There is a 2 level parking garage and as long as you don’t leave your car there to go elsewhere, you Gucci!I go sporadically for their hot food bar. It’s dope in the morning and great for lunch or dinner! Don’t get carried away because it’s weighted and then priced, it can get pricey!
Fresh fruits and vegetables. very friendly staff. They have just about any organic item you may want. The prices have come down after Amazon took over and I regularly shop here. They have a great salad and Pizza bar. I also like that you can take your empty water containers (2Gal, 5gal) and fill it up for 50cents or more. Everything is well organized into sections and sale items are kept at the front.
I’ve been a patron of the Canal street Whole Foods since it’s been open, with no complaints until now. There is a relatively new security group made up of predominantly Black men and sadly these men seem to have set their sites on the Black male patrons that enter the store. Where I once could stand in an isle and browse I now find myself accompanied by one of the security guys who just happens to be in every isle I’m in. Because I’m a healthy food enthusiast it takes time to read the labels but since the atmosphere has made it uncomfortable to browse I think I will limit my frequent trips to this establishment
This whole foods is a joke. I visit this store almost daily for the past 2 years and Ive yet to encounter a pleasant employee (besides the one nice lady who usually works in the skincare department, she rocks!) Everyone else is just so rude if you have a question. Shelves are often empty, theres times I cant even find a case of bottled water at this store..As of recently, you can no longer pay with cash at self checkout, so youre forced to wait in line while theres only one or two cashiers and lines are half way through the store. As a tipped employee who has a short lunch break, this is extremely inconvenient. I know I cant be the only one this affects as the self check out is a ghost town and lines are growing longer day after day. Today, the lines were so long I politely asked the young lady at the customer service desk if I can check out with her. As she rolled her eyes, she said no not really, but yeah I got you...... Okay... I apologized and informed her that Im pressed for time and I only have cash to pay with as she stood there silently and rung up my items with a distasteful look on her face. Sorry if I ruined your day? I tried reaching out to customer service via chat on their website but that is conveniently unavailable and couldnt find an email to write to. I dont have time to sit on the phone and wait for someone who might be able to help me with this issue, but if someone who works there sees this, please pass it on to a supervisor.
This is the worst place to ever shop there’s never nothing in the store lines are long hot bar disgusting pizza always burnt no one never knows where anything is and really don’t care store leaders are never mentally present every terrible review I believe it 100 percent now that that’s out of the wayI also worked for the company and u all wanna know why it’s gone down hill the store managers don’t really care they sit in there office all day and do nothing there clock for punch in has been out and some employees haven’t got the correct amount on there checks this is a terrible place to work and shop simple i hope they go out of business and we can get a Mariano’s
Love this location!! Really friendly staff and always spotless. There are definitely a couple rude Amazon shoppers though. One in particular, I literally have a run in with her every time. Shes always loudly sighing when people are in her way, running into peoples carts, and even being super rude to the meat/fish staff. She needs to go. ANYWAY, great store. My favourite is the marinated meat section! So good!
This was my first time trying the Hot Bar buffet. Since COVID, I have stayed away from buffets. I purchased the pot roast, mac n cheese, and the string beans. The meal was good, but the string beans were AMAZING! Going back for more string beans. I hope the same person cooks them today!
Please be careful with these guys while claiming the bill. As they charge wrong category of vegetables since most of the billing man have zero percent knowledge on vegetables.I bought Green chillies , Lemon and corianderGreen chillies to green beans , Lemon to Orange gold melon , coriander to parsley .
I’ve been disappointed my last three trips here. Both times I went for a few slices of vegan pizza and there wasn’t any available. First time, it was 10:30AM so I understand it was still early in the day. 5PM on a Saturday & Sunday is unacceptable. The pizza bar was completely bare and there was nothing in the oven either. I was told it’d be 30 minutes... not cool. I won’t complain about the prices, everyone knows the store is overpriced but they carry certain items you can’t find anywhere else. What are you gonna do?
This Whole Foods has a better selection than the others in the area. However whenever I go there, the stoopid security guard believes I’m a potentially shoplifter. Look wholeFoods stop looking for the same type of people. If that pathetic security follows me again, you may have a problem.
They have like one cashier and tones of pointless wooden labyrinth walls making you feel like a sheep trying to check out your groceries. Noone builds stuff like that. It is useful if you have a lot of people but then get the tapes from airport or club lines that you can later disconnect and let people pass. This specific wholefoods store is not built with human experience in mind.
Without a doubt, Whole Food is the best grocer near me, and probably in Chicago. The produce is green and very healthy looking. Perhaps a little pricey for some, but best and reasonably priced for me! Quality food for cooking, snacking, eating and enjoying! Hoorah for Whole foods, and yes I know who owns Whole Foods!
The kindness is the employees at this location is unbeatable. I told the cashier I was paying cash because I needed bus fare for my dad. She made sure to break up the change in a way that I would have enough singles and quarters to give him exact change. I couldnt have asked for more han compassion.
Order pickup is a great service and still saves time, when delivery is unavailable. However, when items are listed as out of stock and left out of order, it pays to double check the store yourself. I was able to find a perfect substitute for the missing item, even though this was truly a last minute trip!
I absolutely love this Whole Foods store. The employees are exceptionally kind. I go during senior hours. I would like to acknowledge Daniel in the Meat dept.. He is a a jewel and goes out of his way to make sure seniors are treated with dignity and respect. Always willing to give us exactly what we ask for and so very patient kind. Thank you having Daniel as an employee and please give him a raise and a higher position He deserves it. Just ask any senior! Thanks.
I love WF and do a substantial amount of shopping here. They have the freshest produce of any other market Ive shopped, and an incredible selection of grocery items. However, since Amazon bought them out, more chemical-laced foods have made their way onto the shelves, and the organic apples appear to be waxed. The also octen discontinue foods that have become staples for me. This is always annoying. Even with theze drawbacks, theyre still the best market out there.
Quality and service have been declining over the past year or so. I went in to buy two quarts of chicken soup. The short vat that was out was completely fried out, but after talking to three different employees, I was told theyd have a fresh batch out in five minutes. What came out of the kitchen was not enough for a single quart, all the noodles were broken, and there was very little chicken and no vegetables at all. I stopped by the customer service desk before leaving to let them know, but the desk was unattended and after waiting for three minutes, decided to leave.
Grateful to have this market in our neighborhood. Ive been to many Whole Foods in the city and this location has the best pizza and hot food selections. However, I have better experiences overall going early on weekdays. Overtime Ive had some pretty awful customer service interactions but I continue to go because its convinient.
Came in that location for the first-time (usual go to the best loop location) and the security guard at the front was EXTREMELY RUDE! I ask if I could enter since theres but a limit on how many people could go in and he answered with a question trying to pick a fight with me. I wanted to walk right back out since I did not want to go and spend my money there if thats the kind of attitude thats accepted there. Not to mention so one was harassing me for money in the parking lot so the security guard wasnt even doing his job. I will not be going back to that location.
Whenever I need a full pantry of goods this is my Whole Foods of choice. Even during the pandemic they still have bulk grains and a nice contingency of seafood and meats. Almost every vegetable and Herb I want is here as well as prepared foods I can use for quick lunches.
Its become less of whole paycheck recently. I usually get produce and house brand stuff only. I have stopped buying packaged goods at grocery stores so I cant speak for that. But all the 365 brand stuff is really good. Especially things like canned beans, coffee, frozen veggies, Olive oil etc. Stick with these and you wont be shocked by your bill.
The quality of customer service is diminishing at this store. Went there for lunch a couple days ago and they had very long lines. There were three persons at their Customer Service desk conversing. I took my two items to have them rung up and all three chimed in unison that we only do returns here. If this is the latest company policy, they need to rethink this. Formerly, if the lines were long and you had a couple of items, they would accommodate you at the desk. Check Trader Joes check out. They get you in and out in a very efficient and effective manner. It took almost 10 minutes to check out the two items.
After failing to place a catering order the night before it was due to be picked up, the store manager and catering crew got right on it and whipped up a fabulous luncheon in record time They upgraded the order and didnt charge me for $100 in food and comped the plates and utensils PLUS free delivery. They really stepped up and made it more than right. The food was incredibly good! And even without the comped items it was a bargain. Thank you very much for helping make the family reunion a success!
My wife loves going here, I feel they are little pricey but the selection is wonderful and she loves all the inque food and drinks available at this location. With all the health conscious people today companies like this strive with all their organic and natural foods. Most people dont mind spending a little extra for the quality they provide. The setups are usually pretty standard but each location has their own personal service so dont think one is just like the rest, its the people that make these specialty stores worth the money and the service here validates the cost. The 4 stars is only for the price.
I went here to buy Maple Bacon and what I received instead was ordinary bacon. They need to instruct their employees how to properly season/sweeten/flavor their bacon if they are going to label it as something specific. I have noticed this trend in Chicago Whole Food markets vice other cities I have lived in (I travel a lot, I am in the military) that how they prepare things in the meats section is vastly different than how they do it in other markets (Kansas City, Washington State, California, etc.) especially with concerns to how they season things that are labeled as something specific which is the same at all other locations outside of this city but different in Chicago. Whole Foods needs to do better in Chicago.
Love it. Great selection of fresh produce, prepared foods, seafood, meats and cooking products as well as general groceries. Their crabcakes in the fresh seafood section are excellent, one of my favorites for a fast meal. And they have a fantastic selection of cooking & food magazines, sure to get your culinary creative juices flowing.
Wide selection of fruits, vegetables, organic and pre-made food. Some paper goods and home supply. Expansive hot bar. Fast service at the meat counter. Fish department can smell fishy (unlike other locations of Whole Foods). Helpful wine department. Some fresh cut flowers and plants. Lots of free parking. Attentive staff.
Have gone there for years despite the increasingly poor level of service since Amazon ate its soul, and lunch has not been exorbitant, though buying ones groceries would be. My sibling, a venture capitalist, owns a Whole Paycheck franchise in Pennsylvania, so I feel more at home there since she provisions her family from the store. But today I noticed how unpleasant the increasingly marginal clientele has become, when someone very irrational and rude accosted me about getting in his space. Given its proximity to Pacific Gardens one does see many shelter people there and it was difficult for me to refrain from telling the offensive person that it was my tax revenue that was enabling him to eat anywhere...we are now done as an office with Whole Paycheck after today.
Best customer service, very friendly and they research products and order them for you if they do not have them in stock. Their meats and dairy are always fresh - the meat counter guys always help to give you great ideas of ways to cook your choices. The parking is great and they are right by more shopping.
Just visited the South Loop Whole Foods this weekend, stopped in for lunch and a glass of wine after errands in the area. They have a seating in the front so you can buy food at one of the departments and enjoy it there. We had the cranberry tuna salad and blackened chicken, both excellent and some sushi rolls which were also great. Had the albacore sushi special and a shrimp tempura roll - both high quality and way better than I expected for grocery store sushi.Excited to find out that the bar will be opening soon. Plus, they have free, secure parking.
Theres three grocery stores in the area. A Dominicks across the street and a Jewel a few blocks East from here.Obviously the best quality of food could usually be located at Whole Foods. The problems in coming here though was of course the price (thats a given) and the parking was annoying.Depending on how important the natural and organic aspect is to you this will either fall at the top of your shopping locations for the health factor or the bottom for the price that comes along with eating better food. The store itself though is always clean, the staff is friendly, and the shelves are always stocked. Even the music is good here.Depending on what is important to you, youll love or hate your grocery shopping experience here!
So expensive, its scary! Good thing supermarkets like Petes are now carrying more organic foods, and a good variety of nuts and seeds. I came to whole foods for one item, swiss decaffeinated coffee, but picked up a few other things. I was trying to be careful not to spend too much and yet, I paid over $70.00! How do they do that?!!!
Whats happening at WF is very sad. Went there yesterday looking for chickpea flour and quinoa flour for a couple of recipes. They had NEITHER and the specialty section where they should have been was very sparse. Went to Cermak Market today to get dried chickpeas to make my own flour. Picked them up, turned the corner and there was the same specialty section as WF; with about 4 times the selection and BOTH of the items I was looking for! They also had a better international section and its the ONLY place I have found caramel made from goat milk! (Allergic to cows milk.) Honestly, if they had more organic produce, I dont think Id have much use for WF at all!
Allways a winner, though certain products I favor & use(cause theyre really beneficial!),they stop carrying if they dont move as quickly, but overall this is my food & beverage market-I have walked from where I live to this location-from 110th.Place,off Michigan! Prices are more reasonable, those who work there tend to be knowledgeable.
I come here almost daily because i work nearby. The Deli people have declined dramatically with customer service and the sanitary conditions are bad. I always wait more than 8-10 min to be helped. It seems like the sandwich are is abandoned and even tho the other by the deli and pizza area see me, they never acknowledge . Today, a young lady wiped the counter with a towel and then wiped the knife that she cut my bread with. I was disgusted and embarrassed to say anything. When she was maki g my sandwich, she was asking me how to make it, when all she had to do was turn around and read the ingredients the sandwich has. This Whole Foods needs to dedicate some time to properly train this are because it’s in bad shape.
Hands down one of my favorite grocery stores in the city! Whats not to love about Whole Foods? The location is amazing and theres free parking to boot! I love how there are different shops in the same building so you can hit up several stores in one trip. Additionally, being a foodie, they carry some of the more unusual ingredients that other stores dont have. The staff at Whole Foods is awesome! They are so knowledgeable and always willing to help answer questions and offer suggestions. There is a HUGE and high quality selection of items here whether its produce, meats, seafood, alcohol, bread, sushi, pizza, gelato, etc. I would live here if I could! There are also samples from time to time to try out new products, which is always nice. Not gonna lie, I would go broke buying ALL my groceries here, but certain items are definitely worth the steep price!Ill be back fosho.
This location is much better after the layout rearrangement. The standout of this market is the extended prepared food section that features several salad bars, hot dish bars, sushi station, pizza station and juice bar. The eating area could be redesigned (its currently squished in the corner by the front entrance) but its a great spot for a quick lunch while shopping in the area.
Conveniently located near a hub for both public transit and expressway merges in Chicago. The layout of all of the departments really appeals to me, not to mention it has had one of the nicest, most spacious areas for stocking up on bulk items, offering a fantastic assortment of grains, pulses and spices--and the selection appears to keep improving every time I go!A recent reviewer (+Erica Williams) mentioned the music and the atmosphere--and this is something that has stood out to me as well. Whether cleaning the house or grocery shopping, there is no chore that cannot be made easier by turning up the music!
No matter where I may be living or working, I have always counted on Whole Foods for great variety, selection and quality. Most of the time, I can always find what I am looking for to make my special meals and teas; however, they do not carry a large selection of Chinese herbals, so I will usually make a trip to Chinatown to get these lacking ingredients. Otherwise, this is a fantastic Whole Foods, located in the South Loop area. It is an easy stop after making a trip to the gym (LA Fitness), for a healthy and nutritious snack or meal before grabbing a few things to take home to prepare. The customer service is top-knotch, and the people who work there can actually give you helpful nutritional or medicinal help with food preparation. I highly recommend this Whole Foods!
While its mostly set up like a normal Whole Foods, it seemed to be run poorly this morning when I stopped in to grab some groceries for breakfast. They were out of the oatmeal bar at 9 am and would not refill it, and they dont serve any coffee due to some agreement with Starbucks next door. Normally I love WF but this one kind of sucked.
I go out of my way to visit other Whole Foods locations, because they have power outlets and I can get some work done. This location intentionally does not have that. It has a small bar, but unlike other locations they forbid you from consuming the liquor you bought in the liquor department (which is usually cheaper).
Much better buffet than the PetSmart below it. Terrible selection of wild animal harnesses though. PetSmart got them beat there.Neither place will arrest you if you stop doing what you are doing when they ask you to. Also, make sure to bring some sort of payment type if you dont want to be pepper sprayed in the parking lot.
I remember the day when this place hot bar was to die for..now I struggle to even go there. They used to have different countries food on displayed and would changed it every 4-6 weeks to a new country. Can you please go back to that? Also, bring back Wednesday brisket sandwich during lunch please.
Whole Foods can be expensive but you get what you pay for. You want real food then this is the price you pay.On Wednesdays, WFs runs a whole pizza special with one topping for $10. You can also take the pizza home to cook it, if you want. This is just a cheap affordable quick dinner idea. Many people come here for the hot prepared food and salad bar. There is a large place to eat whatever you buy. If your looking for a few drinks, you can hit the bar located here. Check the chalk board for special drink offers. The parking lot is free but do not leave the area and go into another store because you might get towed.
The store experience was fine but Im very confident that I got food poisoning from Salmon Burgers that I purchased on 5/26 and grilled later that evening (around 8pm). Im the only one in our group that eat a Salmon burger (everything else was shared across the group). I had to take work off today and decided to post this for two reasons:- Warn anyone else who purchased the double pack of Salmon Burgers from a stand-alone fridge near the meat area at the South Loop location.-Ask Whole Foods to pull these pre-made Salmon Patties if theyve heard from anyone else.Thank you,Steve
I went looking for a product in a certain flavor and couldnt find it. So I ask the guy whos stocking the shelves if he can check in back for it. They dont have it. Darn. So hes like check back Tuesday b/c were getting a truck and maybe itll be in. i reply that theres a Whole Foods by the gig and I can just check there tomorrow at lunch. Hes like well try this other flavor. ....but I dont like that flavor so im like Naaah cuz if I dont like it Ill be pissed and Ill still have to go to the River North or Kingsbury one to get what I wanted. The guy says well we dont like to loose a sale so he gives me the flavor that he was trying to get me to buy and puts a little Try It sticker on it.That was so cool.I will not abuse this perk but I thought it was kinda cool that theyre customer service is so good that rather than lose you or send you home disappointed theyll let you try somem out.
Absolute garbage. In particular the cheese section. The people who work there are the laziest, most snide, holier than though, condescending beings you could possibly imagine.Dont dare ask them a question, dont you dare! If you do prepare for eye rolling, feet dragging and mumbling under the breath. If any of you cheese section soyboys are reading this? Just... why? Why dont you just leave if you hate people and dairy so much?
Just called to see if they carried Gingras vinegar and the girl said immediately that they didnt and we only sell Spectrum, Whole Foods and Braggs. I said well its an usual brand and Ive gotten it at other whole foods so could you please go to the vinegar section and check. She said she could transfer me to a team lead and he could just tell me that they dont carry the vinegar. I said hey all Im asking is for you to go check rather than going off memory...is that to much to ask as a customer? Finally she went and checked and said We only have Spectrum, Whole Foods, Braggs and Edens. Even though you didnt have the brand I was looking for she still kinda made my point for me...you cant go off memory because you wont remember them all. This really put me off from a customer perspective that you have to be pushy to get someone to look for a product. To me this is base level customer service.
Whole Foods is not just a grocery store - it is a shopping experience. This particular Whole Foods plays the music pretty loud, so sometimes you feel like you are at the club. Last night, they were playing Michael Jackson, and the guy behind me in line called me out for dancing a little bit. I cant help it Mamma say, mamma sa, ma ma coo sah...Anyway - the staff here is really nice - the produce guy is starting to recognize me, which I think is funny. They sometimes give you free samples of things without you even asking - one time, I was just asking what coconut water was, and an employee gave me a small sample to take home and try. Now thats what I call customer service.I really enjoy the blackened chicken salad which can be purchased from the deli counter - great for sandwiches/wraps, etc. Not cheap, though.I know that they call Whole Foods Whole Paycheck, but you have to know what to get there - some of their products are actually pretty affordable, like their frozen fruits and veggies. This is one of my go-to spots.
My fav Whole Foods in the city. The music is always on point. The store is ALWAYS immaculate. Ive even spotted a few local celebrities in there, not to mention the cute single men. Haaaaa!!!! If youre in the market for a new honey and some healthy food options, make sure that you go to this locationi.

2022-07-02Friendly welcoming staff! You get the best of both worlds shopping at Whole Foods. Organic eggs and flower bouquets!

2022-07-15So, I currently am an employee of another whole foods. I walked in to take a look around to see what differences I can see compared to my own. Their produce section is pretty well managed, the floral section has a wide variety of flowers and plants for your special occasions. But as I move on, I walk into the seafood department. I myself am an employee for the seafood and was appalled by both the sight and smell of the area. The fish itself was shrunken and looked as if none of it was rotated or paid attention to. Their whole fish seems old and shriveled up. Probably their best ones there was the whitefish. Otherwise.. I wasnt happy with what I was seeing. Moving from that, I checked out the meat section, they were decent, much better than the seafood with sight and smell. Another thing Ive noticed is their displays were full of random or displaced items. It didnt seem like there was many on the floor doing anything. I found an open container and went to one of the staff members. Told to just toss it out.. your supposed to take and account for the losses in the store. This store definitely needs to get new management who cares about the store . Hope this helps.

2022-03-26The security in the store is clearly suffering from anxiety or some complex. He initially asked if we worked there. Im always ready to help so Im like no but there was an employee near that I directed him to. He then proceed to hostily explain that the store is about to close(trying to rush us out) We peacefully walked away and started to ignore due to the level of hostility he displayed and the obvious confusion his intitial question caused. He aggressively tried to put us out of the store because they were about to close? Ive honestly never experienced anything like this but Im not from here so maybe its just the norm. The only person who seemed to show concern was our cashier. The other employees probably wanted us out too. Which explains the lack of concern. Whenever I visit Chicago. Ill try to stay away from this place.

2022-05-28Its a nice store. Good parking. Just never seems to have what I want in butcher or deli sections. Could be supply chain related but still irritating. It Whole Foods....

2022-03-12Since Amazon took over its not the same. The community room and other parts of the store have been replaced with Amazon operations. So now its pretty much a basic grocery store and warehouse. But its convenient if you shop at both Amazon and Whole Foods.

2022-06-20Generally exceptional quality food. Excellent customer service. However, two recent consecutive visits, I purchased catfish from the seafood counter that was bad.

2018-07-09The place sold pricey but dependable quality items with lots of them gourmet and imported. Vast selections of prime-aged steak and seafood, not to mention several kinds of cheese and oysters. Which I loved most was fresh ground coffee and freshly made nut butter. The food court like the salad bar and pizza bar and bakery had many delicious options. We often visited here to get some hot lunches. Gelato was $3.99 for the big size of all flavors every Wednesday. It merely there was countless things to buy in this place. Free parking for 2 hours was a plus in all other locations.

2022-07-15Good location, but its never anyone to help get behind the counter food and half the items dont scan at self-checkout....its frustrating.

2020-12-05The market has a great location and is usually not crowded. The quality of the stuff they sell are usually higher than the other grocery stores with a price to match. I love their bakery and the bread they make. The wine and cheese selection is also good. During the pandemic we pick up a pizza every week. There are plenty of parking available.
