Walgreens in other cities:
WOW, what has Walgreens come to be now.... Night and day difference when people who used to work there took care of patients needs especially in the pharmacy. It appears that the new scale is making Walgreens extremely arrogant that they do not care. I had 3 different people ask about my prescription today at the drive through window - one found my script was updating some information and disappeared, second asked for my first name and said she could not find my prescription and the third a pharmacist was the rudest of the all. Anyways I hope Walgreens gets back to its basics - I am done shopping at Walgreens I would rather drive further out then use the convenience
I decided to add to my review on this Walgreens Pharmacy. This is the worst place to get your prescriptions filled. I waited in the drive thru for 15 minutes when it was my turn at the window they told me just a minute. after 5 minutes I left. They have lost my entire familys business. Which for medical prescription is quite an amount annually. $20,000+. I would recommend Costco or Target. Every time we had gone there there is a wait, not a short wait but an extended wait. Dont waste your money at this store.I recently visited this location to our home, the Pharmacy Department at this Store to pick up a phone in prescription from our doctor. They didnt have it. We call the doctors office to resubmit the prescription for filling. Received a call from Walgreen that it would be filled between 6:30 and 7:00. Went to the store at 6:45 and waited another 35 minutes for this prescription to be filled. This is why I had all my prescriptions transferred to Costco years ago. Not only can you find the prices for prescriptions online at Costcos Web Site, but they are much, much cheaper and more dependable for pickup times. One of the biggest problems in the Pharmacy Department is that they have not enough help working. The Pharmacist was not only filling prescriptions, but checking out customers at the register. This happened all the time when I went to this Walgreen. They do have enough business to have an extra person working, but they are all about cost cutting, no matter how long customers wait in line.
So, with multiple health problems and lots of prescriptions, I am a Walgreens frequent flier. This is a very typical Walgreens - cosmetics, one-hour photo, shaving supplies, and (of course) a prescription counter.Over the years Ive had passport photos done here, photo prints made, purchased lots of deodorants, shaving cream, toothpaste, vitamins, liquor, and have made way too much use of their prescription counter. Ive even had flu shots there.I dont quite understand the overly negative reviews of this Walgreens. While its not the Ritz, they provide what they need to. There is rarely a line at the checkout counter; there is usually a small wait for a prescription, and they have a drive-through so you can drop-off or pick-up prescriptions without having to go in.The only problem I have ever had with this location is they dont always have prescriptions I need in stock or only partial fills. So, often I have to come back the next business day. But, I suppose that there are so many drugs they cant possibly stock them all.I have been very pleased with their pharmacists and the pharmacy assistants. They do need to be commended for the hard work they do and the knowledge they share.
I was here earlier today. They told me my prescription would be ready in another 15 minutes and I would have to go to the end of the line at the drive through (fair).I come back 2 hours later, car number 2 in drive through lane. Sat for 20 minutes as I have a sick 22 month old and a 4 month old in the car and I was not about to bring them into the store. Finally got to the window and wasn’t acknowledged for another 5 minutes.Worst pharmacy, and I will be changing all prescriptions from here on out.
Prescriptions are never on time, the wait is unbelievably long no matter what. And the drive through is a joke. No one even looks at you to acknowledge that you’ve been sitting there waiting for a long time. It would be nice if they just said “hi, it’ll be a minute” instead of just ignoring you. I have never had a good experience with their pharmacy at this location.
When I have my prescriptions filled at this location, there are constant issues with out of stock medicines, lost prescriptions or they can only fill a couple of days worth. Walgreens thinks that the customers revolve around them and have no problem asking their customers to come back later or tomorrow. I work of a living and it’s not easy for me to go back and forth to pick up my prescriptions. I have called the corporate office and they don’t even apologize for the inconvenience. Walgreens corporate asked me if I would like to receive a call from their district manager and I always say yes but never get a callback. They act arrogant and give the impression that we could care less about having your business. ( i would think that Walgreens would learn from other large companies mistakes .ie Sears, Kmart and many others). I will need to transfer all my prescriptions to Walmart or Costco. It may mean a little inconvenience but at least they appreciate a customer.
The wait is ridiculous. They often make mistakes like never faxing in my Rx to my MD 0after I request it after they claim they did and rarely apologize. Today they told me the Dr. Didnt respond when I called them the day before and said they did. I need to find a new pharmacy.
Gina from the pharmacy was not accommodating at all. She told me to go to another pharmacy to get my prescription, even though I received a text from Algonquin road, saying my prescription was ready. She closed the pull down gate on me. I’ve never been more embarrassed. Once she closed the gate, there was no one I could talk to so I left humiliated.

2022-04-18Im lucky since when I came here there were only a few cars parked in the parking lot and I could park my car easily. They have a clean parking lot and I cant see any garbage or dirt in there. When I enter I can feel the cold air coming from the aircon. I went to the cart area and took one cart. I went first to the cereal section. I love eating cereal every morning so I took different kinds of cereal. Then I went to the dairy section and purchased powdered milk, bottle milk and some chocolate. I also purchased candies and gummies. After that I went to the counter and paid it. Im happy with my purchase. I highly recommend this place.

2021-11-19I took a PCR test on Tuesday before traveling for an international flight Saturday where it was required. I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment time and the whole process took about 30 minutes in the drive thru with only one car ahead of me. The tech was very confused how to administer the test and had to get assistance from another. As of Thursday, I had not received my results so I called the pharmacy who said it was still pending and to contact the lab. I sent an inquiry to the lab who said they never received the sample from Walgreens. I called back Thursday evening and was placed on hold or hung up on for over an hour just to be told they have no idea where my sample went. I ended up having to pay $350 for an expedited test elsewhere even though I had been proactive in getting it 4-days before the flight from Walgreens (this is the maximum amount of time allowed before a flight internationally). Very disappointed by the unprofessionalism at this location and frustrated by the lack of accountability on employees.

2022-01-05Made an appointment to get booster. It took longer than an hour to get the vaccine. They seem under staffed. Review is for poor management and scheduling system not the overworked staff. Defeats the purpose of making an appointment.

2022-03-17Worst pharmacy ever! So disorganized! Always slow and never properly staffed! Pharmacist and the entire Pharmacy staff are inept! Lost my covid test results, which I needed to fly out the next day!

2021-12-15Had the booster today. Scheduled online and did questionnaire online. Dont bother to do the questionnaire online as theyre gonna let you do it again because they dont want to waste time printing it out. Even if you have your appointment, youre gonna wait and people are gonna line up and get crowded where its not supposed to get crowded. Get a separate line for the PCR test or a sign for that and that youve to get an appt to get tested so that people not computer friendly will atleast understand. The nice lady who did our shots were quick and fast. She knew what she was doing, whereas my 2nd shot she just pushed it all the way to my bone (that was with CVS).

2021-11-06The pharmacy at 1550 Algonquin rd. in Hoffman Estates has the worst customer service. They are never friendly or helpful. They are always backed up inside and outside. On many occasions I’ve seen one Jr. pharmacist running around while three pharmacists are standing in the back talking. Too good to wait on customers I guess. The lines are alway always long and the wait times are always always high, and I often have to correct payment info regarding insurance. Very frustrating!

2021-11-28The worst!!!! Scripts are never ready on time. They are constantly out of stock. You call and will wait forever to speak to someone. The drive thru is a joke, youll wait with no line 5 minutes at the window before even acknowledged. Terrible management. Run if u can away from this walgreens pharmacy. Never seen anything like this.

2021-11-23This review isnt for the dead overworked soulless employees that work here, more for the management that keeps the shift as few employees as possible.Every time I come into this store the employees are overwhelmed, tired and obviously dead inside. What a terrible place to work and when you see employees that obviously want to quit so bad, makes me not want to shop thereAlso, I dont appreciate the solo woman that runs the pharmacy by herself every time i come in shes working very hard with NO HELP and being swarmed with customersTrash management, trash company.

2021-06-04Made an appointment for vaccine.Got to Walgreens 15 minutes before appointment as mention in the email. Did not receive vaccine till 40 minutes later, there was 6 people infront of me in line to get vaccine. This is ridiculous if people have to wait an hour to get vaccine than atleast mention in email. If people are making an appointment than you should give people vaccine at the given appointment. If we have to wait than what is the point of making appointment. It should be walk in.Wait is awful. Hire more staff!!

2021-02-12Like many today, i have been desperately trying to sign my parents up for the COVID vaccine. After receiving a hot tip of a work around on their web site I was able to get my parents scheduled for an appointment three days out. I received a call asking if they can come in earlier and I jumped at the chance. The challenge was that I signed up for my father, using my name and his DOB as there was no other option. I begged and pleaded with Merissa to help sort this, he is 80 years old with multiple health issues. She said, let me work on it.... she called back and was able to get them both in at the same date/time. I cannot express my appreciation, they are trying very hard to get this up and running and that extra step that she took, literally brought me to tears. One dose done!!Thank you Merissa, i promised you a virtual hug, here it is my dear!Walgreens: There needs to be another option to the portal, remember the people that need it the most right now do not know how to use a computer. Create a phone number, please help them.
