Through two cats, we have found VCA to be staffed by friendly employees and knowledgeable vets. The hours make it a great choice for busy folks and their insurance plans help level out the cost of pet care.We also appreciate their cat only rooms to ease the already tense visit from the 🐈 point of view.
I have been going to VCA for many years for both cats and dogs. I have found all the Vets ( I have used all of them) and staff very helpful. They were very sympathetic when I had to put my cat to sleep and called to make sure we were okay. They have been great with my dogs. I am probably in there every month for nail trims and they are always good at fitting us in. I really appreciate all their advice and help in caring for my pets.
Have received very good service every time I have taken my dog to VCA. Vet is caring and always trys to make my scared dog less afraid and more at ease. Very easy to schedule appointments and the texts/emails from VCA are helpful. 20 minutes before my dogs last appointment I received a call from VCA saying the vet was running 20 minutes behind schedule and my dog might feel more comfortable at home waiting instead of the lobby. This phone call was very helpful and appreciated since my dog becomes extremely anxious when at the vet. VCA is worth a try.
I have been a loyal VCA Heritage customer for over 30 years (before VCA came into the picture). All of the veterinarians at the facility are easy to work with, have the greatest of compassion for all animals and have always been willing to work on finding the most cost effective solution for treating our pets. We have had a couple of instances where the scope of the issue would be too difficult for them to treat, but the veterinarians have always helped us find a provider who could treat the pet or make the extremely difficult decision to have the animal euthanized if that was in the best interests of the animal.I recommend them to everyone I meet who has a pet. They arent the cheapest, nor are they the most expensive, but in most cases you get what you pay for. We have worked with other veterinarians, and VCA Heritage is by far the easiest to work with and seems to care more about the animals than others I have worked with.
Ive been taking all my pets here for years, and my mom took our family pets here when I was a child. It would take pages to give all the examples of how great VCA has been. We have seen every vet but usually see Dr. Sporer. She is very kind and patient and gives very clear explanations of what the options are for the pet. She is mindful of cost and goes out of her way to come up with a plan that is the best for our pets without price gouging or unnecessary tests. I have never felt pressured to do anything that seemed unreasonable. Most recently, our dog was diagnosed with cancer and had to be euthanized. The staff was very caring and happy to answer all my questions. We must have called 6 or 7 times when deciding what was right for our dog and they were very helpful. When we lived out of state we experienced how awful some vets can be and are grateful to be able to return to VCA.
As a new cat mom this staff is so patient and kind with me. They take time to explain what is going on and are completely understanding of my questions! They also do a great job with my kitty and make it as low stress as possible for him! Cant imagine going elsewhere!! Thank you VCA!
Dr. Dust is an absolute professional. He is kind and caring. He speaks in a way that makes you feels very comfortable. We have been going to VCA for over 10 years now and they have gone above and beyond with the service they have provided. If i could give it 10 stars it still wouldnt be enough.
Were so thrilled with this vet experience! As most people, weve struggled to find a vet that wont push unnecessary tests/procedures and who is forthright about how to prevent issues (rather than simply providing meds to fix the issue when it arises - which is quite costly). We have been going to VCA Heritage now for nearly two years, and it has been great! The office staff is helpful and supportive; we have a dog-reactive (but super human friendly) dog, and theyve been great about getting us into a room so as to avoid the waiting room awkwardness. Weve seen Dr. McElroy who has just been extraordinary. Shes very friendly, patient, honest about whats necessary and whats not, understanding about cost issues, and very welcoming. She doesnt make you feel rushed or like you cant ask questions, and you can tell that she genuinely cares about your pet.
We arrived for our initial appointment a few minutes early. I explained over the phone that my dog was special needs and we were given a room right away. However, although they got an extensive history over the phone, nothing was mentioned about prior vet records. I had explained she needed her rabies over the phone. Two techs asked me on arrival about why I had not provided vet records. We were put in a cat room. I explained to one tech that my dog was extremely stressed and frightened, and might need to be muzzled. Tick tock tick tock twenty five minutes later, still no vet. Sorry, this was inhumane treatment of my dog, given they knew she was stressed, frightened and special needs. Not once did they come in to check on her. Terrible treatment. I will continue to look for the kind of service my dog deserves. Will never go back here and do not recommend to pet owners with special needs animals. Ironically, they post a big sign on the window stating if you are ten minites late for your appointment, you will be rescheduled.
I have been taking my dogs to Dr Dust for many years. I have lost a few due to age, & still have 2. I have always had every confidence in the care that he provides. I first visited VCA when my golden retriever was having horrible experiences with another vet in town. She had a very bad eye condition that kept getting worse. Dr Dust cleared it up very quickly. During the times that I have lost my doggies, Dr Dust helped me tremendously in getting through the grieving process. If not for Dr Dusts exceptional care, I would not be able to have my dogs bless my life for as long as they do.
When my 6 month old Boston terrier broke her leg and my regular vet told me they couldnt see her, I took her to VCA. They got me right into an exam room and within 5 minutes a Dr was examining my little girl. Within 2 days Dr. Dust was doing surgery. Her surgery was on a Friday and I received a call as soon as surgery was over with an update . I picked her up on Saturday and they once again made sure to explain everything to me. Dr Dust called on Sunday to check on her and then we received calls every couple of days for the first week or so, just to check on her. They have been amazing throughout recovery. We are now having some complications and they are being more than amazing. They call and spend as much time as you need explaining everything. They really care about the animals they see. I feel like they are treating my Trinity the same way they would if she were their own pet. I cant recommend VCA enough. If you are looking for a vet in Champaign Urbana, this is the place to go.
My family has been coming here since they moved to Champaign over 24 years ago and the vets have always been competent, kind, and professional with us and the many animals (cats and dogs) that have been in our family. From the vets to the receptionists, you can expect exceptional care from the VCA staff.

2022-01-04This entire team is amazing. Our puppy had caught parvo. And was on day 5 with 2 days of treatment over the New Years break. by the time we were able to get him in first thing Monday morning. He was in critical condition by the time we got there. They were pretty booked that morning but had us come in anyways. When we got there, they made him a priority. When we talked about financial options. And I didn’t get approved for care credit, they made sure that I knew about every option available. And didn’t let the cost affect the care that he got that day. They made sure he was still getting EVERYTHING he needed. And made sure that they did absolutely everything they could to make him better. Unfortunately our sweet Bullet wasn’t able to pull through and was going into sepsis and was in pain from any movement. Everyone there was great with communicating what was going on. They updated me throughout the whole day. And even in his end of life care, they were extremely compassionate and caring for his needs and ours. After this I will never go to another vet clinic. I’m grateful that our baby got to spend his last moments in the care of this amazing team.

2021-02-25I can’t say enough about VCA Heritage. I’ve brought my dog, Chance and my cat, Big Fuda here and always had a wonderful experience. Recently, Big Fuda has gone through some medical issues which required her to spend three days at the clinic. Every interaction with the front desk has been positive and friendly. They always wanted to go the extra mile for you. They treated Big like she was their own and always answered my question (many, many questions lol). Dr. Phillips was one of the most compassionate and thorough veterinarians I’ve ever met. She made sure I was always informed and comfortable with the plan. Also, Dr Rhodes picked up right where she left off on the days she wasn’t there. And shout out to the technicians!!! They rock! They always made sure to update me on how she was doing and I felt comfortable leaving her there. I’m very picky about who I trust with my animals and VCA Heritage has earned that trust!!

2022-05-23EDIT: Its 1 star because I cant make it negatives! How dumb we were! For the past 2 years we came to you over and over again because Bubs couldnt breathe and various things. YOU FAILED HER!!! Another Vet saw her suffering as she laid in the hospital. CUSHINGS DISEASE!! You NEVER tested for it! You just telling us she was FAT and to cut back her food yet AGAIN. We got the call last night. The insulin isnt working any more. Now her kidneys and liver are failing her. Shes suffering! Her boy is suffering right along with her because we mightve been able to manage it IF ONLY YOU HAD TESTED HER FOR IT LIKE A VET WOULD! Our Bubbles will be gone by tomorrow. Ill never bring any pet here again. The ONLY place we take our furfamily members. Always great

2019-11-05Great vets, great staff. Ive gone there for more than 10 years and they have always been helpful and compassionate. Years ago my cat had breast cancer, her prognosis wasnt good, but we did at least four surgeries. We loved that cat so much and other than the cancer she was healthy and would bounce back from the surgeries quickly, so we did as many surgeries as we could and we bought her some time. The surgeries werent cheap, but they got significantly cheaper each time because we were willing to do whatever it took to help her and the vet and staff saw that and reduced the prices of everything. And when she couldnt have any more surgeries Dr. Dust let us know there was nothing else we could do, that we had done everything possible for her in such a compassionate way. He even teared up. These people care deeply about animals and will help your fur babies be as healthy and happy as possible! I cant recommend them enough!

2018-10-02Dr. McElroy is awesome!! We have an elderly golden retriever, and she has been working with us to keep him with a good quality of life. She is so gentle with him, and is always happy to take time to explain things to us. She was even willing to discuss our boy with a family member who is a vet, she offered to do this for us knowing it would help us to know that we were making the best decisions.Additionally Dr. Dust has provided more than excellent service in the past. He assisted us with gentleness and great empathy when we were there for our other dog.The staff that assists out front is more than amazing and always willing to be helpful. I cannot sing the praises of VCA high enough.

2020-05-06I will never not sing VCAs praises! I had to bring my dog in last week for the first time due to not so great circumstances unfortunately. The Doctor was very firm and thorough with what she wanted to do to help my dog and she was not gonna let any money issues stand in her way of providing the best care for him. I was able to pay a generously discounted rate and it was all because of how much she wanted to help my doggie! It made me cry how sweet and sincere she was. Also the techs that I spoke to were equally as awesome and thoughtful. I wish I had before and after video of my dog he is just so extremely happy and acting like a puppy again (in a good way lol) they added years to his life!

2019-02-12This is the only place I will take my cat, who is quite grumpy at the vet. The staff are always exceptionally patient and understanding during our appointments and take the extra time needed to make sure that my cat is comfortable during the exam. As the parent of a “difficult” patient I really appreciate the separate exam rooms and waiting areas for cats and dogs. It helps her and my stress level go way down. The staff is also great about communicating what is going on with your pet. Dr. Hadley is the vet we typically see, and she is absolutely amazing!! Hadley has the kindest heart and is so sweet and patient with my cat, no matter how fussy she is being.

2014-06-16I dont remember how long Dr. Dust has been my vet. But over many years he has cared for all my cats and dogs and their various problems. Dr. Dust always takes the time necessary to explain problems, answer questions and sensitively give advice if needed. Its a wonderful relief to know that you can trust your vet to provide your animals with the best treatment possible. I know his care has contributed to my animals happiness as well as my own. I should mention the support staff at VCA Heritage also. They are always cheerful, friendly and helpful.
