I did not know this store existed until I heard they were taking donations for Ukraine. I dropped things off on four different occasions and was always greeted with a smile and a “thank you”, despite the fact that it was hectic in there with donations coming in. Please give them some slack right now. They are going through difficult times.While I was there on my third trip, I purchased the cheese blintzes and the black currant jam. I sautéed the blintzes in butter and slathered them with the jam. OMG…heaven!!! I’m definitely going back for more!Right now the food signs are not written in English, but they are happy to tell you what each item is.

We’ve always had a delightful time at VarenychOK — it’s difficult to find a place than not only welcomes you, but has some of the freshest and most delicious Ukrainian food you can find. The people are wonderful and you know that they care deeply about their place of business as it’s reflected each time we pick up our food.

As the other review mentioned, COMPLETELY UNWELCOMING STAFF. And I did not come in to shop. I came in to drop off medical/hygiene/baby supplies for Ukraine. I walked in to ask if someone could hold the door open for me while I bring in a large box. Stood without anyone even looking my way. Finally asked if someone could help and got a nod. Barely dragged the box toward the door and nobody came by to open it. I managed to get it into the shop and got unpleasant stares. I wasnt looking for a thank you. But really? Do you think I will ever suggest that anyone else goes here? Have fun with your Soviet behavioral habits.

Let me just say- I have picky eaters at home. The preferred option is the home-cooked meal that catered to the taste of everyone. It cant be too fat, too salty, or too sweet. When I first stopped at Varenychok I was skeptical, and I dont know how Oksana managed to keep her cool when I asked 100 questions about each item. I am glad she managed, and I found a new place that I can always count on. My middle school student takes lunch from home that I purchase from Varenychok. Todays breakfast was the food from Varenychok. I highly recommend everything from this wonderful place. I am a mother who works over 40 hours a week, plus a full-time student. Verenychok is a lifesaver for my busy schedule and making sure that my family has fresh and tasty homecooked meals daily even when I cant manage to cook.

Bought some dumplings and pierogies from VarenychOK. They taste OK but are priced on the higher side ( approximately 2x the price of those from a regular store). It is handmade so we understand the pricing. The staff is NOT welcoming at all. Not even a single smile. I felt like I owed an apology to the cashier for something that I didn’t do. I don’t think I would be coming back.Update: I never commented anything about the Nutella cake from your place. I did mention that your pierogies are on the higher price side BUT I do understand the pricing because the product is handmade, please read my review carefully. I will not be coming back because of unwelcoming staff, not because of the taste of pierogies or their price. But honestly, why would a cashier be smiling to customers if the owner of the business responds to a review in this manner…?

Just find my new favorite place, recently opened in Buffalo Grove. It was end of the day, not much left from the menu , but what ever we bought we loved it, even 4 years old finish his plate. Thank you guys. 🤩
