Valli Produce in other cities:
This is a go to grocer especially for meats and seafood. However, some of the pantry items are priced a bit higher than other grocers. I still enjoy coming here. My daughter and I like to try different things from far away lands so the international isle/s and random food and beverage items are awesome.
Nice grocery store. I only ran in for 3 items. This is not an area I am usually in. Because of that my review cannot be as thorough. Seems vast with a large selection. They did not carry the probiotic I buy. Another con for some might be, they do not give cash back at the register. It was fine for me, they point you to an atm, which was my bank so free to use but if it wasnt free I might not have used it. All in all a good experience and I was happy they were there.
Yes it’s cheap here but you pay for the quality. I’ve bought berries here, only for it to rot within hours (even though I stored it in the fridge right away). Their bagged nuts and seeds were so rancid. I would steer clear of their packed meats as well. You can ask the workers to chop you a fresh piece of meat instead. I got a piece of salmon head that way to make salmon head soup.
The prices I looked at where 10% to 30% more expensive than all the stores I shop at but I would be happy if hamburger, cheese, and bread had the same texture and taste it did 40 to 60 years ago before health nuts and greed producers found away to change them making cheeper go farther and destroying flavor and texture selling for more while keeping health nuts happy without any permission from the rest of us !
Has all the essentials of a grocery but all of the specialty different ethnic foods and seasonings of a large city grocery. Has every fruit and vegetable you could think of. Couldnt go to a big box store and get some jackfruit. Fresh bagged seasonings, rices, dkfferent flours, different ethnic aisles from aisian to german, polish, etc
Valli definitely has a place in the Rockford market. That being said I would want shoppers to pay very close attention to the use by or best buy dates. Also watch the meat, especially the beef. They have put products on special or sale that are of lower grade. Remember, rating is as follows: Highest grade = prime, next is choice, then select, and the lowest is utility. Valli has advertised meat as USDA inspected at a lower price, but if the grade is not stated as prime or choice it is probably one of the lesser grades. I would also suggest that you pay close attention to the produce items as they leave product out that is close to being outdated and unuseable. Smell all fish and pork to assure it is fresh. With some caution Valli can be a good store to find unusual items.
Very very great store They have a very huge selection of foods and stuff like that theyre produces very very fresh always So is their meats and they have very good prices Its just a nice environment to go shopping and customer services very high on their ratings so thats nice and they will even take you to the section of the store that you need to find things Id say the its a lot like meijers both great stores. go check out their fresh produce and their freshly packaged meat everyday. but I really like to go there for their produce I have one of the biggest and best selections of produce. To go out and check it out and see if you like the place and if you do then you know what to do come back again . Give them 4 1/2 starsJust because theres always room for improvement and making things better and not just goes for anything in life including yourself.
I had the worst hiring experience to come into a work place not once but 3time do to no fault of my own I was told to come in at 2pm get there and the hiring manager not there not to mention I had to bring my,5month old son with me plus I showed up 15m early for the hiring manager to not be there I set up there for about 45m had to leave she ask me to back the next day to get sent back home cause they got busy finally she interviewed me hired me the hold time Ive told her I cannot work days but only on the weekends cause my wife works mornings and I have my son I told her I can work all the evenings she said okay we need night workers okay we agree upon the time she took all my information and said she would call me later that day but she didnt she end up texting me 2days later asking if I could come in Tuesday Wensday Thursday morning or to call her and let her know after that Ive never heard back from her but ended up speaking to another manager and I told him I can train on the weekends he says okay were come up with a schedule and get back with you a week and a half later still havent heard back from them and Ive called and no answer
I really like the variety of the groceries at this place. I have been going for more than 10 years and they always deliver quality. Their sales, especially 3-day meat sales, are out of control. I always make a special trip when they have 3-day meat sales. Their prices are compatible without a sale, also. My only issue is the inability to get cash back when you use a debit card. I havent tried in a few years, so they may have changed that policy.
Valli produce is a great place to shop, especially if you are looking for things other grocery stores dont have. Ethnic foods of all types are available here including produce you may not have heard of before. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because the staff doesnt seem willing to help. Just be ready to take a little bit to find what you need and you should be fine. Love this place, and I am sure I will figure out where everything is as I shop there more.
The selection of produce is impressive. However you should carefully inspect what you buy in packages. I often find items that have begun to spoil. You also have to watch the prices in meat section. The prices can vary for the same cut of meat, packages marked managers special or use today may be more than regular packages. That being said. I enjoy the international selection of goods and prices are reasonable.
Big selection, good prices, huge produce department. Usually a great place to shop, but today it smelled like something went bad in the while store. Employee in the floor was in her phone everytime we passed her, when we asked where something was, she said I dont know, try isle 17.
I try to stay away from this store, because I spend to much money. They have such a large selection of products from around the world. The store is clean, and the staff is awesome. Yesterday, I had seen some rice chips online and after being in the store for over 2 hours 😂, I made me way to the checkout line. The cashier called an associate over to look for the chips, he couldnt find them and said they carried then at one point and time. His name was JORGE, and he deserves a metal for his service. 😘This is an update on my review from a week ago, I bought some Bob red Mill buckwheat pancake batter and it expired in March! I brought it back today and the manager of the store and the general manager or whoever the hell he was told me that there wasnt anything he could do about it except give me my money back or replace it! He said there wasnt anything more he could offer me! He acted like I wanted some kind of a handout! Ive been in retail all my life Im 67 years old, and I dont care if you are a family-owned business, and not a big corporation like Walgreens you should still offer some kind of compensation besides oh its nothing I can do about it, its the person who put it on the shelfs fault. Well I guess Ill spend my money somewhere else where Im appreciated. After all this is bad business!
Store always has the largest and freshest produce department in town. And their produce products are so low its hard to believe. Presentation and cleanliness, A+. Prices, A+. Easy access to items, A+. Customer service, D-. On average there is about 20 customers in line with full baskets to the two cashiers. They seem to always call someone up well after the lines get longer. When they page overhead for backup it usually takes 10 minutes for them to come. Cashiers tend to have an attitude probably because they hate their job??!! Customer service needs to be a focus in their store.
I would have given this a 5-star rating. Really enjoyed the place and what they had to offer. Absolutely love how they have exotic and foreign products compared to other local grocery stores. And the checkout time was fairly quick. But the way they have a security guard standing around and putting stickers on to your items at the cashier to let the security guard know you checked out. As a customer makes you feel like they dont trust you.
Ive been searching for YEARS for coconut ice cream that is good and FINALLY found it here!! They have 3 awesome one not JUST one. I go here for hard to find items and like that it feels like Im outside the u.s. I appreciate their dedication to serving immigrants a taste of home and helping an American like me taste products from around the world
THIS IS THE ULTIMATE GROCERY STORE. aisles upon aisles of fruits and vegetables and seasonings and canned goods and cheeses and bread and snacks and basically everything you could ever want from every corner of the world all at walmart prices!! AND theres a taqueria inside. 12/10 put one in north carolina please 😭
My husband and I shop at Valli every other weekend. Today I encountered a very rude cashier. She was at her register and I asked her if she was open for check out. She said no and rolled her eyes. About two years ago, my husband and I went up to the lottery counter and purchased a ticket. The female seemed as if she did not want to help us. She was really rude. I thought she was the owner. I was happy to hear she was not. I do not understand why these employees were being so rude! We do not deserve to be treated like that. We are paying customers! I really do like Vallis international foods, but a year ago my husband bought a big jar of olives and we opened it at home and there was mold on top of the olives. We threw it away and didnt report it. To the Valli employees...I seriously am not there to win a popularity contest with any of you! I just thought you should know that. I am a customer. If you dont want to be there, then walk out the door. I do not need to witness your rudeness!!! Some Rockford Valli employees are a bunch of clowns.
HI -BOUGHT THE ITALIAN BEEF THAT THEY MAKE WITH THE JUICE.VERY GOOD--- I RECOMMEND AND THEIR DELI SHRIMP AND CRAB SALAD, POTATO SALAD AND THEIR MEATBALLS WITH THE SAUCE, THE BARBECUE CHICKEN WINGS, AND THE HALF SLAB OF RIBS AND AS ALWAYS..... ALL GOOD....ITS ALWAYS GOOD--- WITH THEIR OTHER ITEMS....ALSO THE GOOD--- SUSHI---THE CRAB AND THE VEGETABLE
Have to share this. Arrived April 9 at about 4:30 pm to shop for a few things. Ran bell at bakery. Waited 20 minutes after ringing bell another time and finally calling front desk twice with cell phone. Finally a very young boy with unkept hair came. he did not wash his hands and I offered my hand sanitizer which he refused. he was very combative, rude and criticized me as I made my order of various cookies and other deserts. I am still angry and customers do not deserve to be treated this way. This kid needs training big time. Moral of the story, do not go to Valli if you are on a tight schedule.
What a great store!! If you cant find a certain food item at other grocers, you can probably pick it up here!! Almost all ethnic products are available here daily. The prices are very competitive and the selection is wonderful. They have a FULL service deli, live butchers, a fresh seafood department and an on site bakery. And dont forget the fully stocked beer, wine and liquor department. It can actually be a pleasant shopping experience!!
Friggin love this place. Massive produce section. Giant chicken breast, excellent fish selection, decent beef selection. Lay out is a bit wonky but likely due to their having so many aisles with random smatterings of international foods. Ive gotten, eaten, hated, and loved so many different foods from here! Next is Borsch (borscht?) Made with beets! Lol. Staff arent extremely friendly but are efficient. Kinda all that matters.
Excellent store, clean and well lit. Every member of staff I encountered was friendly and helpful. Amazing selection of goods, the produce department is huge, theres tons of cheeses and specialty meats in the deli area, an extensive olive bar, lots of imported goods from all over the world you wont find at other stores. And the prices are great too. We travel about an hour to shop here and will continue to do so.
I love Vallis selection of produce. They have exotic fruits and vegetables and great bulk grains and nuts section. When I make recipes with hard to find ingredients I always come here. They have tons of ethnic selections that are well stocked. Plus the store is clean and well lit.
One of the best places to go for year round produce. They take great care to ensure stock is rotated, and presented at the peak of freshness. Their international grocery is also second to none in the area. Store is always clean, and staff always friendly and helpful. General grocery prices are at the high end for the area, so we usually do our general grocery shopping elsewhere.
Its got a wide selection of international foods. The deli area is bigger than most grocery stores; with more selection of meats and cheeses. The produce section is absolutely huge in comparison to most stores; its very wide open and has a great variety. They have a very good selection of liquor, wine, and beer. Ive found some alcohols here that I couldnt find elsewhere.
The bakery had beautiful looking items. Bought an assortment. Was terribly disappointed. The cake square was so dry we couldnt eat it. The Napoleon and canolli were stale and chewy. Couldnt even cut them. The filling tasted old. Stomach ache after eating. I am so disappointed, I will never buy baked goods from there again.
Great variety for ethnic shopping. Produce selection is great. Meat tends to spoil quicker than the out date on the packages. Not many people speak English here but it is always an adventure to find new things. Check out often has errors but its fine if you watch each price as it rings up. We still like shopping here despite the above issues.
We just recently started to shop at Vali, and we are so pleased ! Very well laid out store. The variety in every department is great. Awesome selection meats, fish ,vegetables etc. We have decided to make this our Go to grocery store. Just to ADD we are fussy and picky = highly recommend !
The sales here are wonderful! Only one complaint. Every time I buy strawberries here I hunt through and still end up throwing over half of them out as soon as I get home. It is a little upsetting because who wants to go through this huge store then have to go elsewhere for strawberries? But otherwise the selection is amazing and prices quite fair! Live the huge international selection!!
Ive been to Valli before and would ordinarily give a 5 but my buddy had a bad experience while we were there. Amongst other things he purchased a duck and was double charged. For the next 5 or 10 minutes (not sure cos I was jamming to the tunes on the PA) he got sent back and forth 3 times before they made it right for him. So if I could Id give a 4 1/2 just because of his frustration. My transaction went off without a hitch and I had two orders.
I love this place. Where else can you get goat butter, quail eggs, smoked pig tails, and vodka under one roof? I love the reduced price of meat and produce just near its end, but still perfectly good. Speaking of meat, the best selection of any grocery store in town. Did I mention, the prices are reasonable?
Unfortunately this store has ridiculously high prices. Some of their products are old, their produce and fruits are very expensive and is kept in refrigeration apparently to maintain the freshness in their products. If the products are not selling the store lowers the prices in order for them to sell. Costumers buy them at lower prices, but after 2 days they are spoiled and ready for the garbage. Its a pity having to throw all away.I cant imagine families that live pay check to pay check which is most of us, specially with this difficult economy. Play your role compete with your prices, but most of all think of the families that cant afford you.
Very dishonest and deceptive service. They pack the rotten fruits and veggies into small wraps in order to hide them. I bought okra and Indian bitter melons in packs and they were full of fungus, I took pictures and in my next trip I showed to customer service lady and she refused to give me credit because I didnt come back within 48 hours. What a stupid rule to come all the way from your home within 48 hours to get $5.00 credit. Totally unprofessional and rude attitude. Simple solution- stay away with these imposters and fraudsters.
Valli is a great place to shop for produce, and anything that comes from the deli. Everything else is overpriced, but they do have some imported stuff that nobody else has. I try to go here at least every couple of days. You can come out with a ton of food for less than $5. The only complaint I have is every time Ive ever gone I feel almost ignored when checking out. The girls up front always have their own agendas.
They fill a niche market. If youre eating healthy, keeping your fresh produce in stock is where Vallis shines. And their deli counter is unequaled. While I dont think their produce is top tier, in America, were too picky about eating pristine produce anyway. Once you understand their limitations and use them accordingly, youll make them a routine stop. If you can only go to one store, then go to Woodmans.
Favorite local grocery store. They have a great deli, and their prices are good. The layout and atmosphere of the store is good, and they have a wide selection of items. They have a sort of restaurant in the store, I have not been there, but it seems to be pretty popular. Overall a great grocery store.
They have been out of reduced fat salami for several weeks on the Deli. Didnt have Grandmas potato salad that was supposed to be on sale too. Deli workers need to be neater filling contaibers. Food should not be on the outside of the container when they hand it to you. They could stand to clean up their parking lot a bit more too. They need to get on the ball more. This could really be a nicer store.
Best store Ive ever shopped at in Rockford! The prices are Unbeatable! The management is awesome! Employees make you feel like family!Wide variety of fresh local & imported foods- no need to go to any other grocer from common to exotic you will find it at Valli!! Produce/Deli/Meat and fresh Fish counter all in 1! Plus stocked pantry ( catering all cultures) paper products, pet.Liquor with a omg wine selection priced amazing as well ;)Oops almost forgot the Italian Style Bakery!!! Every kid gets a free cookie too no matter if your purchasing bakery items, My youngest says the cookie girls his favorite! Aside from his pal Oscar upfront ;)Check them out!! You Wil be pleasantly amazed a store like the old days still exists today :)
The Valli store in Rockford, IL. On Alpine st. has the most amazing produce section!! The way the employees display everything is eye poping! Every color of the spectrum is on display when you first walk in!The remainder of the store is amazing. All the ethnic foods, the meat and deli section is to die for! From hand made brats to live lobsters, they seem to have it all! Fresh meat, frozen meat, deli section, it goes on and on!I dont know every ethnic group but Valli seems to have them all covered!Lastly, the adult beverage section it fantastic! We have found almost every thing we looks for! Wines, liquor, beers from all over, mixes, glasses........I highly recommend this store, if nothing else, just for the produce section!!!!!!!
Have never been too fond of Valli - fresh produce is pretty good but the meat & seafood counters are questionable. Bad smell, area with marinated meats & marinated products looks like the meat has been jammed in big plastic bins for days. Store is never really clean. Getting help finding something is impossible - better to ask another customer.
This location is much less customer oriented than the one on North Alpine. The guys at the deli act as if theyre doing you a favor to wait on you. I had stopped going there but ended up there yesterday. ..nothing has changed. Last time I didn’t even wait to get deli items and left. I also find they arent fully stocked with items that I need to buy.
Great place to go shopping for your groceries and especially for your produce I miss coming here after I done move across town very far and I hope to come back someday too and the female clerks there are Very Classy,Respectful. God Bless Vaili Produce Youre The Best!
Fresh produces, daily specials clean and well organized could get more variety of fruits and vegetables and custemer service needs improvements cashier are not to friendly (attitude). Meat department have a good variety i find they over stock sometimes delly is best part with the bakery its always good selection and fresh in general is really good place to shop planty of parking secured and clean.
Disgusting meat. Their fresh meat section is fast food quality or even lower. I cant believe I wasted my money buying steaks and ground beef that was made to look fresh but it was rotten, and I had to throw it out. Will NEVER shop here at this nasty store, that is run by bunch of scammers.
Valli is truly an international marketplace with a wide variety of ethnic foods. You can often find something (especially produce-wise) at Valli that you may not find at other grocery stores. The story is clean, and it seems like there is always somebody readily available to help you find something. I did only 4 stars instead of 5, because sometimes the variety on what I consider staple items is lacking while there is a larger variety of specialty items. It was also a bit disconcerting to have someone from meat department (I think) standing next to the urinals while I am using them.
The selection of ethnic ingredients cant be beat, and they have an extensive deli counter. However, a lot of the butcher department items seem kind of iffy to me - lots of bone-in cuts where the meat is red, but the bone is grey/black. In my experience, fresh meat from Valli also tends to spoil MUCH faster than meat from anywhere else, as quickly as the day after purchase. Very disappointing to buy steaks and upon opening the package, the underside of the meat is blotchy grey and smelly. The avocados also tend to be bruised to hell and back, and you cant tell until you get them home and they ripen 3-4 days later. Ive been shopping here since they opened and Ive yet to get avos that arent trash. I just get them at Schnucks or Aldi now.Their liquor department is MASSIVE. If you can drink it, theyve got it, with mixers etc as well. They always have the best sales price on boxed wine!Other than meat and avocados, I do recommend Valli for any other grocery needs, especially if you like to cook Asian or Latin recipes. They have all the miscellaneous ingredients youll need to make it as close to authentic as possible!
There are two in Rockford, this one is the cleaner looking of the two. Could be brighter lighting, who knows, but same great selection either way of fruits and vegetables, deli section and staff are always good, deli can get busy but staff is always quick and friendly without making you feel like youre being rushed. Their sale prices are what brings me in
I went there for soup bones and was pleasantly surprised that they actually have them out already. They have their own butchers working right there in the store! The man who assisted me was asking, for soup? , I nodded and was able to purchase the correct type of soup bones to make my bone broth .Bonita apartment is so big that they seem to always have reduced cuts of meat that you have to use the same day, which is what I did to make my bone broth.
Valli Produce is one of the best grocery stores I have ever been to! It is a shame that there is not one in my hometown of Freeport, IL, however I will gladly travel to Rockford so that I may grace the aisles of this location. I love the low prices and specials along with the massive assortment of ethic goods and produce that I cannot find at any typical grocery store. Please bring Valli to Freeport!
Produce is always fresh and neatly stacked. The deli case it was loaded well-stocked and they cut the meats and cheeses to order. Perhaps the only drawback is that because they have the store divided up into the ethnic foods to find things like rice or olives you might have to look in several sections of the store. But the stockers are always helpful and friendly
Great grocery store with a variety of products. Prices can be a little higher than other stores (i.e. Wal-Mart, Woodmans) on some items, such as beer and soda, but prices can be reasonable or lower on others (such as produce, meats). Watch their ad- you can sometimes find some nice deals and sales. Great produce dept with a wide selection of fruits and vegetables. Can find great ethnic ingredients and specialty items. They have very good Italian beef available at the deli- nice to order for parties.
I have a complaint to make. Sadly, as a regular customer of this location I experienced bad customer service from the managers, one of them being Khanifa and the other one named Michelle. I asked for help and they wouldnt come out due to the sad fact that they were using their cellular device during THEIR work hours instead of assisting customers. One of the cashiers took over the managers responsibilities and assisted me. I dont like walking in to a place where they dont want to do their job correctly, nor a place where the employees look like they dont want to be there. Please take a look into this otherwise I will spread the word.Thank you.
Valley produce provides some of the best natural foods in town. They also excel in providing cultural foods. Its a great place to go if you want to find a food that comes from halfway around the world. Without Valley produce I wouldnt have ever tried Jackfruit, Dragonfruit, or my favorite purple potatoes. They have a cool bakery that serves the best canolis. The workers are fast, friendly, and great. They even have a small resturaunt inside the store in case youd like a quick meal. One of my favorite grocery stores in town.
I am in love with Valu produce! Excellent prices, above excellent produce and meat!!!!!! Yhe variety and selection are spectactular. I have a deep fondness for thier bakery because they always have several selections for between .99 and 1.89.You really need to stop by and take advantage of the great prices, selection and friendly customer service.

2022-06-20Immaculate produce section!!!! Its HUGE! Limes and watermelons are cheaper than Walmart and im sure other items too but I dont have the prices memorized. I like that they have an expansive international variety and the thai chilies are sold loosely so you dont have to buy a big pack with too many like at the asian markets. They’ve got the spicy korean ramen, thai rice sticks and awesome Mexican snacks. Theres an Elotero/raspado lady at the entrance and she also sells Tamales!! Honestly im impressed.

2021-03-15Stop here all the time for their variety of vegetables. Yum. So many. Store is always clean inside and out. Public restrooms are available if needed. Great deli selection also. Staff has always been very friendly and the atmosphere is laid back. Here is some pictures of just one meal Ive made with the food from there. I cook a fresh dinner every night of the week. The prices are perfect for me.

2022-04-26Best grocery store ever! Seriously, they have a ridiculous selection of meats. Cuts that I read about in recipes, but can never ever find. And the vegetable selection is equally impressive. The prices are difficult to beat, and there are about 15 isles of food. Specialty selections galore. Its my favorite grocery store in Rockford. If you havent stepped inside, please do...

2022-04-15Have never been inside the store before but have used their ad to price match at Walmart since I dont live in Rockford. We got a really really good buy on asparagus and other vegetables so we will definitely be back

2022-07-13Whats not to love about great produce pricing, quality meats and everything under the sun. Spices of plenty from all over the world. Such a fantastic grocery shopping place.

2022-05-15We love this place for produce. They have good prices, for the most part, and they have some ethic items that you dont find everywhere.

2022-06-29I love Valli and Im a regular that comes in often. One of the cool things about Valli is that they give half price sushi after 6pm...it was 6:16pm when I found an appetizing roll. I went to check out and it rang up full price. Apparently, its after 7pm now? I know Loves Park has always been after 6pm, but its wrong that people go there specifically for this and everyone is already struggling right now as it is. The cashier at the self checkout took the package over to the put back cart at the front of the store (so who knows how long it sat there before it was put back) and then went right back to texting! Thats another thing, the amount of workers that I saw on their phones was surprising and its not fair to the hard-working produce/stockers that I see each time I come in. Customer service just isnt what it used to be, and they (millennials) need to start appreciating that they have a job instead of holding their head in their hand while they continue to text! They wont have anyone else to blame when they are being replaced by a computer!

2022-02-13Valli foods has really cleaned up and reorganized the Loves Park store. We still feel the need to watch the quality of produce and also the grade of beef products as they still sell some lower grades of beef. Many grocery items are priced higher than other stores, but if the buyer watches prices, the grade of beef, the freshness of pork products ( a buyer be aware store) Valli can be a good store, with the large selection. Many different from other food stores.

2022-02-20Love Valli. Best place to find produce. Limes everywhere are expensive. 3 for $1.00 here yesterday. Didnt buy. I love fresh lime juice, but thats to much. I guess its a better price than Wal-Mart. They wanted .46 cents for just one last week!!

2019-10-12Variety! I love the produce department. Every time i find something new to try ...or read about. Hand picked some brussel sprouts, got skinny beans for sauteing. Meat department guy approached me and offered to trim up the beef tenderloin, which was on sale! Great service. Here are pictures of foods i need to learn more about...
