Valli Produce in other cities:
My family did a quick stop here to look for a specific item. Was very annoyed with this store. We found their meats to appear old looking and my daughter bought chicken to cook as it appeared to look the best and it was spoiled. The chicken had a smell. Will not purchase meat here again.
Its a NEW grocery store not to far from us. By driving or walking if you like long walks. A friend of my sisters reccomend this store. So, we came in to see for ourselves whats everyone chatting about. I will say Saturdays are their busiest days. It was nice to see the crowds of people shopping but we were able to take our time walking in every aslie. Learning the map of this store. I love the seeing the bakery right as you come in on your right. They have a large self- service of NUTS- SEEDS & more in weighed plastic containers with prices on them on the back wall. I found my Brazil Nuts & Asst. Swedish Fish but these are thick fish. Taste OK but not like the Red Swedish Fish. I found a lot and so did my sister. I was taking a lot pictures. And thinking of meals to make for this week. We will be back.
Purchased manila mango and got cognac mangos instead and they were all bad inside as well. I forgot to keep the receipt and the manager said he could not do anything to address my problem. I have returned stuff without receipt at all other grocery stores. I am a $200/week customer of this grocery store. Not anymore. I am not buying here again.
Quick conveyance, in a split second! That is the thing that the store invests heavily in. The store basic food item conveyance stage pledges to offer quality and administrations to its clients. Experience the accommodation of setting orders for food in the solace of your home. Its quick, simple, and helpful.
Asked for blueberries, produce guy directed me to an area that did not have any blueberries. After checking out, was asked paper or plastic? Chosing paper did not ensure my fruit a safe journey home. First, the bagger dropped them a foot putting them in the bag, then, dropped the bag into the cart from a greater height! This seems to be a common trait of baggers in general, but I did not see a self checkout here.
This store has a large fruit & veggie selection. They also have a nice bakery which I now avoid. Enjoyed the tirimasu, lemon bars & cheese cake a little to much. I love going down the ethnic food aisle. Found some different & great side dishes. They have a fresh seafood section with great selection. They also have a section where you can purchase fresh made/cut kabobs, etc. If youre a senior, go on Tuesday for discount on purchase. Fun store to shop.
Vallis I love to shop there , affordable and services are friendly. When you are trying to find something they are quick with coming up to help you, there is a certain cashier I go to, he is always by the exit, and work in the afternoon. I wont name names but he is there majority of the time. BEST CASHIER EVER!! SO POLITE AND HIS RAPPORT TO KEEP YOU COMING BACK! HE HONESTLY IS THE GREATEST.
They have some things that other grocery stores dont have, and the people are pleasant, but they have a serious issue with their dairy storage. Many, many times I have bought milk and cream there that go off a day after opening. Their fridges must not be cold enough, or the stock sits out too long after delivery. Either way, Ive stopped buying dairy there, its a waste of money. Their fruit and vegetables are also unreliable. Sometimes good, but very often I have to dig through stacks of produce to find a lemon or a pepper or a head of garlic or whatever that isnt half rotten. Yesterday evening I bought some blackberries and this morning the entire container was sprouting mold. More money just thrown away. Ive really wanted to support them, but the quality is just too unreliable.
First time shopper and I have to say Im impressed. I was here stocking up on raw produce, raw nuts, and raw seeds. While the raw nuts and seeds werent in their own section (never are! Hint) I was pretty happy with the selection and prices were ok on most.Beautiful lemons today.Currently on day 4 of 51 raw..Did 28 days when pandemic hit and quit until now.
Very surprised going here. Its like an upscale grocery store. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy but I guess enough well to do customers live in the vicinity to allow them to operate. Highly recommend. I bought delicious lunches from pasta to sandwiches. Very inexpensive. They have great selections of pastries and nuts. A wall of candies too. Then very nice seafood dept. Clean facilities as well. The strip mall is a dump but this grocery store is what you would expect in a wealthy area. So grateful they are around. They have everything you need.
I have been going to Valli since they opened here. Its a well run clean large independent grocery store. The staff is pleasant and helpful and they offer many things made in store. Most of these offerings are really good, but there are a few clinkers.I can always count on finding some new and interesting products to try. They offer many foods produced locally. Ethnic selections are interesting and well chosen with many nationalities represented. The produce section is huge and constantly monitored for freshness. The prices are quite fair, but I would not buy a lot of non food items here. Valli is a great addition to our community. I am glad they are here.
I love this store! From the fresh fish to the fresh veggies & fruits to their fresh mozzarella to their legumes, spices, and dried fruits, this store has nearly everything I need for the Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Middle-Eastern, Italian, Spanish, fusion, etc. dishes I love. Prices are really good as well. They have other stores in the Chicagoland area near me, and their all good, but this one is the closest to me... and my favorite.
Love this store. It has a huge amount and variety of products. Beautiful produce section and fresh fish. The staff is exceptional, friendly and ready to assist. I like that it’s family owned and operated and it has a diverse team. Prices are about the same or a bit lower than someplace like Mariano’s. This has become my #1 grocery stop.
Very good selection of produce at good prices and good selection at deli but even though they had about eight people behind the deli counter and no other customers. Were around i had to ask if anyone ŵas working there there before someone acknowledged me and then the person. Was so so. That was a first for that kind of service . Cashiers are usually very good..
Always great deals found here and very friendly staff. Too bad it is far away from me. On the bright side it is easy access by public transportation. Fresh produce and always a good price on meats. Deli is fully stocked and clerks have good knowledge of the products. If your looking for good value this may be worth looking into.
Fresh produce, almost always able to find what I need. Although I had found some expired product, like a whole section of Tennessee pride sausage and advised one of their associates and the guy could care less. Other than that experience Im always happy with the quality of meat and produce I purchase from Valli!
Valli is well stocked store with a large variety of produce, packaged goods and even a decent alcoholic beverages selection. Depending on the day of the week youre here, it can either be a pleasure to shop or a tightly packed nightmare. However, their checkout counters are speedy and efficient, even if their baggers dont get out of the way to give you space when youre doing your own bagging.
Incredible selection of international and specialty, foods. Also many name brand and specialty plant based foods. WONDERFUL bakery. Incredible selection of prepared foods and unmatched selection of cheeses. TO check out: large quantities of dated bundled produce for $1.49! Fabulous sales.
Five stars solely for reduced produce section in their Evanston store. For someone eating healthy on a budget getting a whole package of vegetable or fruit for $1.49 is absolutely wonderful. If you cook there is so much you can do with reduced produce. Wish their container for them was some type of cardboard(easily recyclable) instead of the plastic ones like they use for meat but not faulting them for it. Also wish they replenished the handheld baskets a little more often. Besides these two things still five star grocery store. Love them and the products they carry. Better than Jewel.
Outstanding produce section and good deli selection. Great selection of imported products! My only complaint is the seafood department and surrounding area really smells due to open raw items outside the counter, and for someone with a shellfish/fish allergy like me its really dangerous. I have to completely avoid that section in the back of the store most of the time because I start getting reactions. Please fix!
This place has an assortment of foods and is what I would consider a full-fledged grocery store. The produce is extensive and the meat department is always offering a good variety of products. They also have an area dedicated to wine so you should be able to find a good bottle. Only minus is their paper bags which tend to rip apart if slightly over loaded, which means more bags to carry. Staff is always nice and helpful.
Had a bad experience with a milk chocolate shake. My sugar was very low and I needed to have it but I was drinking it when I realized it was expired. My daughter told a girl about it and she received an apologize from the girl. I use to buy all my super in your store never happened this to me. I love Valli Produce. Congratulations.
Great grocery store with a dazzling display of a very wide selection of fresh produce! Great deli, international foods, spices, bulk...you name it. And prices are quite reasonable. Staff is also pleasant and helpful. AND for seniors, 10% off everything every Tuesday. Love this grocery store!
Ive been waiting a long time for a store like this to open. There isnt as large a selection of non-food items here (for instance, health and beauty products, pet food, etc.) but the wide selection of everything else more than makes up for it. Incredibly, their freshly-made sushi is pretty good and has become a once-a-week dinner for our family. The prices are good and its a pleasant shopping experience. They also have some pretty good deals - for instance, Ill be picking up a three-foot sub (yes, 36) for spending $50 there today.
My new go-to supermarket. They have a broader array of produce than Whole Foods and at a fraction of the price. No attitude, either. Its not just produce, though. There are all your favorite foods in the aisles and a better than most selection of various ethnic foods. Also a very good beer and wine selection. Its well worth going a little out of your way to Valli. Plus everyone seems so friendly here. Forget Whole Foods.
Locally owned chain of grocery stores, firmly committed to the LOCAL neighborhood!Place is well stocked and well run. Meat department has excellent pricing on very good quality beef, even carrying PRIME graded beef. Fish department has a terrific selection of very fresh seafoods and clearly labeled: where it comes from, thawed, etc.For sure a welcome addition to the ever changing and consolidated grocery landscape.
Best deli and produce section in the Evanston area. And by far the best prices for both. I was getting sandwhich stuff for my office. Ran into Jewel next door and laughed at their tiny overpriced deli. Drove 5 minutes down the road to Vali and paid half the price for the exact same meat and cheese.
Beware when checking out, if you are rewards member and they scan your mobile card it does not take the discounts off you have to be very vigilant to make sure you are getting credit for your purchases but also getting your discounts. Every time I shop here it does not take my reward card and I have to wait till management comes over to override the problem and then I have to wait till they take my information down. This is a waste of my time and they need to fix the rewards issue!
Great produce selection. Meat selections, not so much. Good selections of fish . The place is clean and organized. But the customer service most especially the cashiers are rude. I agree with one of the reviewer, Kyrina R. The management tolerates the rude , unfriendly behaviors of the staff. I don’t know why the cashiers have attitude when dealing with customers. I will not shop at this place again.
I love valli produce! The choices of groceries, gourmet and from many countries. The seafood choices r great and they will cut fish into serving portions.the produce is always fresh and delicious.all the products and the bakery goods r all displayed beautifully. I can easily spend 2 or more hours shopping weekly!
Top notch grocery and european-ish style market but not overpriced in comparison. Bring an educated shopper makes the difference. I deducted a star for Deli attendants could be a bit more personable for my preference. Usually bakery gets grumpy due to long hours. Added start back for Great baked goods and Italian cookies
This store is one of the best kept secrets in Evanston. They carry everything that you can think of and all of great quality. The prices are great which for milleniums who like to brag that they spend more money than other people is not so good. The store is gigantic, the quality as good as any other big store. They have their own bakery, fish market, huge selection of beer and liquors. In short, for people in Evanston that never been here, they should check it out. I promise you will not be disapointed.
Valli Produce has the everyday ordinary selection of meats, produce, bakery, and grocery items. One of the treats in the store is their deli selections and ready made meals. Chicken Parmesan is my favorite and there are marinated chicken bits ready for the grill. I also like the clean upscale atmosphere.
This is a wonderful grocery store. It has all the amenities of those great big super stores but still reminds me of the stores I grew up with. Very good selection all around. Please visit this store, we need to keep these type of stores stores in business, plus they always have a nice variety of sales each week!
Great selection of international foods. On the expensive side for groceries though. What kind of grocery store closes at 9PM?? people that grocery shop after work tend to have the lines backed up between 5:30 and 9:00 PM. No self-service check out means long waits. If they were open a little later to accommodate, they would probably have more business.
Last order was completely messed up: all organic produce was substitute with regular one without notification. Called customer service. They dont have any clue what is the difference between organic and non organic. Pick order was prepared a day before pickup day and kept without a fridge(I ordered some meat)
Great store. Good attendance from people who shelf the food. But not a 5 star groceey store. Their cashiers lack simple skills. On numerous occasions they have placed my heavy foods on top of my delicate fresh fruits and veggies. What is the point of buying good food if they will arrive damaged in the bags. Who puts everything on top pf the bananas?. I have a friend who told me she noticed a difference in cashier baggings with people with different ethnicities. The store is great but their cashiers need training!
I have to drop my rating significantly. For the second time, we have brought home prepared food from Valli only to find out that it was inedible. Be very careful at this store to examine expiry dates on any item that has a short shelf life — we brought home blue mold on rolls and heavily fermented pizza dough. I feel strongly that expired foods should not be sold on the same shelf with the rest of the stock. Having to carefully inspect each item puts a burden on the customer that should be borne by the merchant.
This is a great new grocery store! Its in a great easy and accesable location. With amazing prices. The food ranges from the united states to germany, thay have a section of the store for foods from other countries and continents. Its right inside evanston plaza making it so when you finish your time there you can visit any of the other store nearby. And it has great staff. If your in the area and you are looking for diverse foods and great staff and service and always nice people keep this store in mind. I personally been there and have shoped there it great.
My boyfriend had a REALLY bad day today. I picked out one of the pre-made cakes in the display case and asked if a simple message could be written on it to cheer him up. The woman working the bakery counter was so wonderful!! She made it happen. It was beautiful, and the cake absolutely brightened my boyfriends day!! I am so grateful!! Thank you so very much!!!
Watch out I bought 2 things there yesterday way past date. I realize it’s my fault for checking dates quickly, but I one case it expired March 2nd. Why is that on the shelf??? Off by a day or so I could still use it, but 17 days. Again I know it’s my fault, but be on the look out.
Theres only so much one can tolerate the Jewel on Chicago Avenue. After trying Marianos and not loving it at all (watching a woman stick her fingers in the olive bar repeatedly to snack was just one downside), I gave Valli a try. Went there on a Sunday morning. Easy parking, not crowded (granted, just after the holidays, maybe it was just because of that) and in I walked to a beautiful display of produce. Huge variety, everything was marked and priced, staff was refilling and fixing displays - and the prices! Driscoll Raspberries on sale in December for $1.49, lemons that werent going to break the bank just so you could have a squeeze on your salmon. All different kinds of apples and oranges and potatoes along with parsnips, beets, lemongrass, radishes, several mushrooms, just a good, solid variety and selection. The rest of the store has a huge selection as well, aisles are wide and immaculate, and staff is really nice. And they have a beer and wine section (not certain if they have hard liquor). I was just really pleased with the entire store and I hope it does well in Evanston, its a nice alternative to Jewel and Whole Foods on all fronts - price, service and selection.
Far better than any other local grocery stores in Evanston. The prices are generally good or at least competitive with the other big grocery store in the area, but the selection is food in BEYOND fantastic. The other grocery stores in the area cant come close to offering the variety of foods at Valli. Its my go to grocery store every single week.
This is the nicest grocery store in Evanston. Good selection, great prices, excellent service. I will go out of my way to go here over any other store in Evanston. The deli and prepared foods section could use some beefing up (pun intended). But the beer and wine selection makes up for it.
Purchased a pakage of meat from Valli Produce when i got home and opened the pakage it smelled. The meat was spoiled. I called right away it had been less than 2 hours, the lady on the was helpful. She apologize and advise me to bring the meat back in and its package and she would refund my money. I let her know that itll be a couple of days before I can get in as I work she told me that was fine. When I get to the store another lady at customer service tells me shes not going to refund it even though the date on the package still have not came and the meat was spoiled she gave me a hard time then finally decided to give me store credit. I dont want store credit. I dont plan on ever shopping here again she got the manager he told her to issue a refund. As she gives me my money she say Next time no refund It wont be a next time. They are overpriced.
Valli is a nice addition to the Evanston grocery scene. A big store with a surprisingly good deli counter, good seafood selection and, of course, huge produce section. The produce appears to be riper than at the local Jewel, but that means that it doesnt last as long once you bring it home.
Employees always available for help, top notch deli hot and cold, unrivaled prepacked bulk nuts, seeds, and candies. Wide variety of many ethnic foods. Sushi rolls made continously, and can be made while you wait. Kabobs, skewers, and marinated meats available. Gyro meat by the pound.
I was a huge supporter of Valli, especially as an Evanston resident. However, the customer service is not up to par with other grocery stores(i.e. Trader Joe’s) so I will no longer shop there. If management tolerates employees being rude to its customers, that is very telling of an establishment.

2022-06-066/2022 5* Nice large grocery store. Lots and lots of Produce! Bakery was a bit disappointing. Bakery items look great. Just disappointing when you bite into them. But everything else here is top notch!

2022-03-20Great bakery with delicious pastries and cookies. There is always a special of the week. Produce is fresh and reasonably priced - always some good specials. Nice deli counter, cheeses, lunch meats - better priced than chain stores. Pretty store inside. Nice staff.

2022-01-19This was my first time visiting this store. A friend suggested this was a great place to buy fresh Red Snapper fish. I must say, I bought so much more! Team member ELI in the seafood department was very helpful, and treated me like I was the only customer in the store. He is truly and asset to this store, keep up the GREAT customer service Eli and I will be back!

2022-01-26Great place to shop for produce! They have everything you will need to make dishes you get off the net. From fancy schmancy to poor mans meal... theyll have all the ingredients on your list! They have an awesome nut and dried fruit section, piles of fresh beans (all kinds), and a great seafood section. I prefer this place to Marianos any day of the week! Huge parking lot too.

2022-03-25Amazing produce and meat dept. Good sale prices. (I know they are not catering to a Jewish population, but since it is so close to Passover, they might consider a few reasonably priced Passover products. I laughed when I saw a small display of 5 lb Matza for $18.99!!! Jewel sells it for $3.99!!!).

2022-01-31Its a really good place for people who like different national food, fresh fruits, nuts, and vegetables. You can use self-service checkout or a traditional cashier, you can choose a paper or a plastic bag. Im not enjoying prepared food here, but its just my preference.

2022-03-01Clean, convenient multiethnic supermarket. Nice produce section including lots of dried fruit and nuts at reasonable prices. Fairly good deli. A great variety of dry goods - not as much as going to specific Italian, Indian, Latino, etc markets, but plenty for most purposes. Good advertised specials including occasional free items.

2022-02-16This is our primary place to shop. The service is great, people are friendly and they have a great selection of meat, seafood and produce. Their grocery section is very hit or miss. However, if you watch the sale ads you can get some great deals. We always check the reduced produce and dairy sections. We have been very pleased with Valli since we moved to Evanston.

2022-02-19What a cool grocery store! Great variety of produce, and every time I’ve been the shelves have been beautifully kept and well stocked. The staff are friendly as well! Love shopping here!
