I have been meaning to write this review for a while now. I brought this vintage Schwinn cruiser from Tom last summer 2020. It had a beautiful new paint job and was in great shape, thanks to Tom. He sold me this bike at a reasonable price and was very honest and helpful in my purchase. I am soooo happy with it. I ride it to and from work often and take it out of town to also ride trails. It is my second riding season and I have not had any issues at all. It fits me perfectly and I am very thankful to have come across his craigslist ad. If you are in need of a great tuned up vintage bike, Tom is your guy!!!!

Brought some older B&O turntables in for possible repair, and ended up following Tom’s recommendation to purchase a new Audio Technica LP3. Three years later, I couldn’t be more thrilled with that purchase. I listen daily and have been floored by the quality at the price point. The epitome of expert advice, I am so happy I met Tom!

I went to see Tom when I was looking for a used bike to replace one I had with a warped back wheel. He had posted some inexpensive bikes on Craigslist despite being a stereo shop; he explained that he started refurbishing bikes when he found so many at estate sales while acquiring stereo equipment. In any case, none of his bikes that I tried seemed to fit the bill for me, so he offered to fix my current bike. I brought it in, and within 30 min, he straightened both wheels, tuned up my spokes and brakes, oiled my bearings and chain (maybe other things that Im forgetting) and it drove better than it ever had for a ridiculously low price. The next day, my front bike tire tube sprung a leak and he was kind enough to teach me how to replace it myself, in case it ever happened to me on the road, handed me a bike helmet when I sheepishly admitted to not having one. And then called to check in on me later that day to make sure the bike rode well.I now consider Tom a friend. I appreciate his business philosophy and willingness to build supportive community relationships. Highly recommend this shop.

Tom is the best. I love going in to browse one of the best classical collections in Chicagoland. Tom is extremely knowledgeable about classical music and records, He has helped me build my collection. And regarding the negative review that another lady posted here regarding an AT table. I happened to be in the store when this person brought in the table. Tom rightfully refused to look at it. If this person wanted to support a local business then she should have come to Upscale to buy one of many excellent and reasonably turntables that Tom has for sale. It was brought in a battered box with who knows what wrong with it. To be fair he would have to charge this lady for his time to inspect it and charge at least 40% of what she paid for the discounted Amazon price. Not worth it for her or him.Tom is fair and honest and friendly a local store owner as you will ever meet, His only defect is that he makes really corny jokes and puns.I cannot recommend this business too highly.

Tom is awesome! His extensive knowledge of electronics and classic vinyl is a source to be reckoned with. Ive been buying my audio equipment from him for years and sourcing all of my music through him too. When it comes to finding the best deal on quality audiophile equipment, Tom delivers. From speakers, to tube equipment, I have not found another source with better pricing or knowledge. He even fixed my broken amplifier a few years ago.

Tom is my new best friend. I was about to have to replace my bike computer because the battery compartment was stuck. It was working perfectly but the battery was about to die and if I couldnt replace it the whole thing would soon be useless. I found Toms store in a Google search and decided to take it in as a last ditch effort before buying a new one. I figured someone who worked with electronics might have encountered this before. After a few tries Tom was able to get it open for me. He also replaced the battery for free. Plus he is a really nice person. So glad I found him. Thanks, Tom!

Great service. I got a new motor and power supply for my project debut carbon and Tom charged me reasonable prices and kept me in the loop the whole time. My turntable is up and running and sounds great!

I took in my Audio Technica turntable Id bought on Amazon, to make sure it had been set up correctly, and because this is a local audio business I had been meaning to check out. Tom let me know right away he would not even touch it, because I hadnt bought it from him, and he was an authorized dealer. He had a very condescending attitude, and was frankly a bit rude about it all. I can understand the dislike for Amazon, but I took it to his store to support a small business, not to hear about how paying 50 bucks more for something would have somehow made it better.

Tom is by far one of the best when it comes to customer service. In addition to having some of the best used audio equipment in the area, he is also very knowledgeable about his products. I brought in my 5 disc cd player to have him look at it (he actually did this for no charge). He fixed the problem within five minutes and sent me on my way. In addition to that he also threw in a free Sharp monitor. The only issue with the monitor was that another gentleman brought it in to be fixed. It has two slight, very unnoticeable lines on the screen whenever you play something. But the average person wouldnt even be able to tell. Tom wasnt able to fix that issue so he let the gentleman know. The gentleman was okay with it but didnt want to keep the monitor because he really had no other use for it. On the other hand Tom couldnt really sell it to anybody because of the issue with the lines in the screen so he gave it to me out of the kindness of his heart. I accepted and the monitor works great and gives a pretty decent picture. It is an older model but still looks and works like new. Thanks Tom! No complaints on my end.

This place is great for picking up a pair of turntables or for the vinyl collectors! Tom, the gentleman who helped me out, was very professional, and courteous. I will definitely be doing business with him again. Thanks Tom!John Stewart aka DJ. Stereo
