I just went here yesterday and the workers treat you very badly on basis of how you look. I do my research on products and only go for high end branded sunscreens and moisturizers. While i never care what people think of how i look i dress comfortably with no make up where ever i go. How i was treated yesterday while looking at high end products on the end right side of the store i am appalled. Being treated like a shop lifter and stalked in every aisle by the same 4 employees made me very uncomfortable and least to say angry. And when I finally gave into the employees following me everywhere and asked one of them where to find yet another high end brand she told me where it was and then corrected the way i said it. Excuse me? Horribly disrespectful this Ulta is, i will not be shopping here again. Nordstrom has the same, yet better brands. Can’t believe the audacity of people only because i dont choose to look like some topped up business woman, regardless i can afford anything in that store but to be treated differently due to how i choose to look is appalling! Disrespectful!!
I actually go out of my way to go to THIS ulta. The staff are friendly and there to help, but dont follow you around and bother you. I like how big it is, its clean and stocked up nicely. When you walk into this ulta location you are greeted by a really nice person and they offer help right away. It is night and day compared to the location by my house. Worth the 25min drive here.
This location is closest to me but I wont be going again. I stopped in to pick up a few things and because Im part of the Ulta club I wanted to also get my birthday gift. When I got to the counter there was already a woman being helped. I waited and when the woman at the counter left I stood there waiting for the cashier to look up from finishing up. Nope. Didnt look up, wasnt aware that a line had formed at 2 different ends of the counter. The person in the other line looked at me, acknowledged I was there first and then we both looked at the counter. After a beat the cashier finally looked up. No customary Hello, did you find everything ok? Just started ringing me up. I absolutely hate this. This kind of experience happens time to time anywhere you go so that is not the worst part. When I gave her my cell # for points I asked about my gift. Her response was that they were out but I could try other stores to see if I could find it. No Sorry but we are out. No automatic Happy Birthday. No Let me talk to the manager and see if she can help. Nothing, I got dismissed. I have consciously tried to not get aggravated if lines are long or if the thing I want isnt on the shelf. Im happy that Im able to go shop. There are not enough workers so the ones that are there are probably stressed - I get that. But I cant get past being dismissed. Why bother if I can go to Sephora?
As someone who would never go into Ulta out of my own free will (Im not a makeup guy), I actually had a really pleasant time there. My friend and I were able to easily find what she was looking for, and everything looked relatively well stocked. The employees were extremely friendly and helpful, and made me feel a little less like an oddball in the store. Covid precautions were also well followed by both staff and other customers in the store. Overall, great experience.
Beyond thrilled with my hair! Shanna is amazing! Shanna is incredibly knowledgeable and takes the time to explain every step of the process, what products work and how they work for you. She creates a welcoming environment and takes the time to have a conversation to understand what youd like. Prior to my appointment, I hadnt had bangs in about 15 years and still wasnt set on making the plunge. After our conversation, I felt 100% ready and so glad I decided to! An all around wonderful experience and I couldnt be happier, thank you!!
Looking for an amazing person to cut and/or color your hair? LOOK NO FURTHER. Shanna is your girl!! I searched forever to find someone who I was comfortable with and I finally found Shanna. Her hair cut is perfect every time. She knows exactly how to style and cut my hair even when I don’t. She’s so fun and personable and makes the experience so much better than just someone who wants you in and out of the chair. She is very knowledgeable as well. She has introduced me to so many products that I fell in love with and now use daily. She ha San Instagram too that you can check our. Her color jobs are fantastic and her signature curls will have you feeling amazing. Make sure to have plans after you leave her appointment. You’ll want people to see you. :)
I have always been happy with Ulta until now. This being the 3rd time this has happened to me. I got in and go to find my maybelline brow pencil and there is a tag right below it saying $3.99 instead of the $7.99. Same shade medium brown. Cool, so I grab it and it didn’t ring up as that. I had to go back in the store to ask after looking at my receipt in my car. The girl at register even looked at the tag by the product and said yea I see it let me get my manager. The manager comes out looks at the tag grabs it and walks away. The girl tried to explain to me that the tag was only marked for items under that….. which doesn’t make any sense becuz there wasn’t anything under it. The girl was not making any sense so I left in frustration. Then I call the store to speak to manager and she then told me that it wasn’t the same brow pencil as mine so didn’t apply. Bottom line I am a customer in your store and I walk in and see a clearance clearly marked for the pencil I grabbed, It absolutely should not be so confusing to a customer of a clearance marked down item and if it applies or is it the below clearance. Get better signs indicating that. Very dissatisfied that as a customer being annoyed and inconvenienced customer service and customer satisfaction is NOT the first priority here. It’s checking your customer on the price tag and letting them leave. Very dissatisfied with how your handle things.
Shanna is the BEST hair stylist! She is knowledgeable and passionate about her job/products. I was going to a different stylist, before Shanna, who messed up my hair right before a wedding I was going to be in. Shanna was able to fit me in her schedule and do a color correction and saved the day! I have been going to her ever since. I highly recommend her to everyone I know.
I usually have a good experience, however one girl was really rude to me. My mom bought me little perfumes for Christmas. I didn’t end up liking them so I went to exchange them. The girl at the register was really rude! I hand her the perfume and she says “if you used these just say so” I was so confused my mom literally bought them the Day before Christmas and also the perfumes weren’t wrapped in plastic. I told her I just smelt them and didn’t like the smell. If she actually looked at the receipt she would’ve known. Next time she should ask before assuming.
5 stars only because of Laurens excellent customer service. I have been to this stores many times but no one has helped like Lauren did. She was the only one who went above & beyond to check for products that werent on the shelf, help me order online, etc. She is efficient, friendly & genuiny cares for customers. Ulta is lucky to have employees like her!!!
Shanna is amazing!!! I have a curly haired little girl and the last time we got her hair cut (almost 3 years ago when she was 2) the place we went to messed up her hair big time. So i have been beyond nervous to take her somewhere to get her hair cut in fear that the same thing would happen again. i was recommended to go to Shanna, going in i still was nervous but she did an amazing job, told me everything she was doing before she did it, was very patient with my 5 year old, even took the extra time to braid my daughters hair after her cut. i could go on and on! We have definitely found our go to for my little one. i highly recommended Shanna!
The staff are super helpful and great at helping you find what you need with makeup and other products and finding what fits your skin type/hair needs. The salon and brow bar also do a great job! Carmina does a great job with my hair and Maya at the benefit brow bar was patient and did a great job with my brow wax.
This is a nice Ulta, with very helpful and not judgemental staff. Its always clean in there which is important for me in a makeup store. Ive used the salon a few times in the past (like 8yrs ago) but was not happy with the results. Theres probably new stylists there now. All in all a good place to go.
This place is amazing. It’s amazing because of Shanna Hushaw!!She is phenomenal!!! I have never been to a hair designer that is so effervescent as well as knowledgeable about hair. She LOVES what she does and that is clear within EVERY part of the styling, hair cutting, coloring, highlighting process. There are so many wonderful adjectives that come to mind to describe Shanna and my hair after she’s done her magic that this review could sound like an English primer. So I’ll end with this: Shanna and the work she does makes me feel like the amazing person within me comes out to the front. I adore her. If you want to have someone amazing work on your hair, give Shanna a call.
I had one of those credit /debit cards that kind people give for Christmas. For the last couple of months Ive been trying to use the last $5 and was having a difficult time. Cards been declined rejected wrong pin you name it its happened. My last time before it was to expire was Ulta. The very competent and friendly associate Bing bang made it work, no problem at all. I was in and out card used up and I was happy. Staff very helpful. Great experience.
One word. SHANNA. The universe brought us together 4 yrs ago and she’s been stuck with me since. I will follow her wherever she goes bc it’s hard to find someone who knows you, your personality, your style, hair wants/ needs & more. She teaches me about what she’s doing as we go bc she knows I’m like an inquisitive 5 yr old and puts up with my word vomit so that alone earns her a gold medal. She’s helped me through some challenging hair times (box black hair, chemo hair loss, etc.) and I will be forever grateful.I want to be selfish and say don’t go see her bc then it will be harder for me to get an appointment if everyone realizes how great of a stylist/ colorist/ artist she is but everyone needs a Shanna in their life!She is Ulta’s hidden gem!
When I had my hair done there, there was one person cutting my hair, answering the phone and assisting customers at the back, she kept leaving me to do those other things. Pretty unbelievable. Ive had good products recommended to me that I still use on my face. The front desk staff is usually smiling, helpful and quick. Never went back to the salon, but I frequent this location a lot for facial products. The only thing I dont like is when I have to fend every single associate off trying to sell me something, which happens maybe 3 out of 5 visits.
I had my full highlights done by Daisy along with a root touch up and I can not begin to tell you how much this girl has gotten me to love my hair in such a short span of time. She is filled with pure talent and I would highly recommend Daisy for anyone who is trying to go lighter with their hair, Daisy is the go-to stylist!

Very impressed with all of the friendly staff while I was shopping, but Karen at the register was AMAZING. I didnt know how to check my points and she was very kind to walk me through. Her customer service is truly outstanding. I definitely will be a regular at this location due to her!
Went there today to buy an item that was on sale. They told me it was no longer on sale but might still be online. The sales girl was helpful and looked online... keeping me waiting for 5 or 6 minutes while she took a call from someone else. Eventually she hung up and said nope, Im sorry its not on sale online either. Went home disappointed. Checked online and sure enough, the item was still on sale at exactly the price I told her I knew it was. Why would they lie to me in the store?
Love love Love Morgan at benefit counter. Everyone here is very nice. Always have what I need or order it for me. And they even are sweet when you just want to run in and grab just 1 thing. They will set it aside for you up front. Can not say enough great things about this store.
The store is NOT AT ALL friendly to handicapped individuals from a design and accessibility standpoint. Thankfully the woman in front of me let me check out before her as she saw how I struggled to stand in line. The cashier also walked down to the register near me and rang me up there.
I had terrible customer experience. I had just finished paying for my items when I was given a receipt but no change. I told her that I did not receive any change but she kept insisting she had already given it to me. I checked my wallet, purse, and even the shopping bag to make sure I didnt misplace it or forgot about it. I didnt find anything. I told her again, I did not receive my change. My ride was waiting outside so I was hoping this would have been solved quickly. Well, I was wrong.She ended up asking her coworker to check the cameras which took even longer since her coworker was attending someone else. Like I imagined, she took a while before she had the time to go to the back of the store to check the cameras.Now, I understand that people can be forgetful, including myself, and I understand how things might get mixed up. Now, what I dont understand is how she just literally left me standing and waiting at the register to attend someone else. I think she just expected me to let it go or leave because even though another employee was attending said customer, she began to assist them as well.At this point, I was angry and impatient because of her behavior. She literally just left as if she dismissed me and had better things to do. My ride had been calling me nonstop and all I could do was wait until her coworker confirmed she did not give me my change.Finally, she gave me my change and I left. All I wanted was my change but instead I recieved terrible service from one of my favorite places. Its unfortunate that this is the only ulta near me, but I wont be coming back soon unless its my only option.
Hair colorist Leticia is wonderful. Less than good customer service in make up. 2 associates carrying on conversation with each other and completely ignoring all customers around them. One young man was more concerned about touching up his own make up than assisting customers. Not good business practice!
I walked today into the store wanting to buy a product I have been wanting for a while. I found the product and just had one question about it. I started looking around for a consultant. I looked to the left and there were 4 employees standing chatting (one of them was the store manager as I found out later)...nobody acknowledged me...I came closer but nobody even looked at me. I walked around the store trying to find somebody to help me.One girl was walking towards me and I was about to ask my question when she approached me but seemed like when she saw me she started walking other way ...Finally I ran into the lady who clearly didnt know the answer to my question and tried to switch me to a more expensive product. I have been working in retail for years and understand the important of customer service...this time it was bad enough for me to leave the store without making a purchase. I can understand a consultant might not knowing about the product well enough and need help to answer some questions...but not even great the customer in the store??!!!
This is the second bad experience Ive had at this location in about a week and a half. The first time all the employees were talking and I couldnt get any help. Had to wait five minutes before theyd even ring up my purchase. Three employees hanging around the register apparently cant seem to do more than talk. I had a coupon for a free sample that the lady said they were out of. As Im leaving a lady asks another worker for the sample and she gets it. Seriously!
I love all the selection here. They have everything from makeup to hair/skin care. I also love the different products from low end to high end. With makeup I always buy high end, but when it comes to other things I like to spend less like on shampoo for example and Ulta covers that.Their point/reward program is better than Sephora. I used to be Sephora Rouge status, but I feel if I originally shopped at Ulta I would have gotten better deals and more bang for my buck.
I like Ulta. The stores are neat & organized. I went in to get my hair color, Clariol Perfect 10, and Ulta is not carrying hair color anymore. This is a shame since I always bought my hair color at Ulta. I understand that most women dont color their hair at home anymore. I get it.... Im a dinosaur! LOL!! I had to buy my hair color on Amazon. Free shipping but I had to wait a few more days to color my hair but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!
The store in general is horrible. They seem to be very disorganized and the front section is dark and crowded. They have good quality perfume which I enjoy. There higher brand stuff is not very good and not very high brand. They seem to always run out of the popular colored make up such as light, many eye shadows are not in stock and forget about getting some good eyeliner they only have some in the front section (okay quality).Reason it got 3 stars is because I had a great hair transformation there dark dark brown to red!! It was wonderful and extremely difficult but the style pulled it off perfectly!
The only reason Im even giving two stars because there are a couple employees who were very nice and helpful, otherwise most of the time the employees either harass you to buy from the brand theyre repping or they ignore you completely while they sit there and gossip with one another. Aside from the actual makeup, there is little motivation for me to continue shopping here.Im really disappointed in their customer service. I was under refunded and when I questioned the cashier about why I wasnt getting back the full price that I originally paid I was given attitude and they tried to talk around the issue without actually holding themselves accountable for their mistake or even fixing it (this happened at the Wheaton location). I called customer service last Sunday and havent heard anything back even though I left two contact numbers and my email. I tried to go in to one of my local stores today was told unless I have my receipt or go to the original location they couldnt do anything. I thought the whole point of their return policy/using my rewards number was so I didnt have to bring in a physical receipt. Either way, I STILL HAVENT BEEN REFUNDED MY MONEY AND NO ONE HAS CONTACTED ME IN ALMOST A WEEK TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. My whole reason for stopping in was for my birthday and I was so frustrated I didnt even buy anything. So, thanks a lot Ulta! Maybe Sephora would be a better option.**UPDATE: STILL not impressed with the customer service. It only took several attempts to get my issue resolved & I had to resort to calling them out on social media before anyone took me seriously. I had a brief correspondence (& waited around for two hours) when they finally offered a solution with the least amount of effort, a gift card that covered the refund amount (and MAYBE tax), but no apology whatsoever or much incentive to continue shopping with Ulta (other than essentially being forced to since my refund was issued in the form of a gift card). Stay classy, Ulta!
Everyone there is helpful and acknowlable. I get my eyebrows done at the brow bar with Araceli and she is the absolute best. The other girls are great too but shes my favorite. Lexi at the hair Salon is also wonderful! She lightened up my hair and it came out wonderful! I was so nervous about getting it done but it worked out great! My hair looks amazing! The store is clean and organized. Someone is always there to help: I buy Lancôme products and the ladies are all wonderful! Maria is a dear! I highly recommended this Ulta. Its a great place!
The women who work here are pushy and rude. Either they flat out ignore you or they constantly bombard you, no middle ground. Had a disappointing encounter here where an associate attempted to argue with me about price stickers that had been placed incorrectly. Big highschool mean girl feel. Wont be shopping at this Ulta again.
Just going to be completely honest the majority of the people that work at this location are so rude! I go to tha locoation often it’s the closest to me. I won’t ever understand why they are so damn rude some of the girls that’s work at this location seriously will look you up and down you ask a question they barely even make eye contact with you or they plain just ignore you. I just went in a couple days ago I walk in no one greets me but 2 girls are just standing by the door talking I’m walking around no one ever comes up to me anything! The reason why i decided to do this review is because like I said I go to this location often and it’s just uncomfortable how those employees make me feel!!
This location at this Ulta is horrible! I never wanted to get out of a store so fast because I felt judged! They dont even deserve this one star! The ladys were following me everywhere I went I asked for help with make up and she didnt not! Know how to apply it and the manager was very very rude! I believe the manager name was LIZ ! Blond hair and skinny Coustumer service I everexperienced!
Where do I begin. The amount of distress this place has caused me is unbelievable and I plan to take legal action. I came to visit a technician by the name of JAMILA. Whatever you do, do not have her touch your face. This woman should have her license revoked. I came on the day of my bridal shower with my makeup all done just to have lashes put on. Not only did this woman have no idea how to measure and cut the lashes before applying the strip, she applied them with PERMANENT glue intended for INDIVIDUAL lash extensions only. You are NEVER supposed to apply a strip with that. It started burning immediately, my eyelids felt like they were on fire! My entire bridal shower my eyes were watering and eyes burning.Despite every method of removal, (4 hours to be exact) half of the strip is still stuck to one eye and 60% of my eyelashes are gone. They certainly wont grow back by my wedding. I am disgusted by the work at this place. Please do yourself a favor and go to a place with people who are more skilled.
This store doesn’t even deserve 1 star. The second time I’ve come into this store and they need new management and the service is terrible thankful for The Clinique lady who color matched my friend and at least made it a 1 star experience but other than that the store needs better management.
Would have given more stars!!! Accept for 2 reasons!!! First mens section has gotten smaller and smaller!!! Second mens section is almost completely nonexistent at the JOLIET Illinois location!!! Sad that I need to drive up to the Naperville location to purchase anything decent!!! Really sad!!! Men like higher end product to!!!

2022-07-06For an awesome hair color experience see Jennifer Fors. I have been going to her for years and she never disappoints. She is an expert with color, takes her time with haircuts and my hair has never been damaged over the years with her. 100% will always go to her no matter the drive. Shes the best!

2022-05-20I hadnt visited in a while and the store is very clean and organized. I do wish they would consider better lighting for trying on foundation makeup it requires great lighting second to natural sunlight. However, when we were greeted by one of the beauty consultants we were asked to try several shades 6 to be exact did not match at all. They need more experience working with tan and darker skin tones to properly match the customers. The consultant quit trying and we were left to find it on our own. We did it better I must add🎯✅ Ulta do better ! Those prices are high end and service should meet up to high expectations for paying customers. Thank You

2022-08-02I Just got my eyebrows done by Maya and she did an awesome job. She was very friendly and explained everything. I was so impressed that I got all the products that she used which is new for me! I will definitely go back to her again. If anyone wants eyebrows done make sure you ask for Maya and you won’t be disappointed!!!!😊

2022-03-30Went there a few weeks ago to tone my hair for the first time. Carmina took awesome care of me! She was very informative with the products and very knowledgeable on how to get the correct tone I wanted. She was super friendly and made me feel awesome. Thank you Carmina!!! :)

2022-03-21Went in looking for skincare for my teenage daughter. Its really hard to get her to talk to people and the woman who is educated in skin and how to take care of it, Yvonne, was able to get her to talk without being super self conscience about showing her skin. She was very knowledgeable and helped to get my daughter to open up. I really appreciated her taking the time to get her to talk and she made the experience very pleasant for my daughter.

2022-06-28I had a very bad experience. I did my hair n make up for a pageant. They did not say anything that they cannot match with the hairstyle n at the end it was a simple one.They spoiled my day. I did win the runner up title but could have been better.

2022-05-28I dont write many reviews but the contrast in service we received in one day prompted me to.Our bridal party, visiting Chicago from out of town for the wedding, had appointments at two different places, Ulta and Sephora. Due to many events that day and logistic delays, we were running about 15 minutes late and informed them of the delay. The first lady said she would tell the artist. Then we get an angry call back a few minutes later, where I tell them we have arrived and apologized that we are late. Okay, understandable that theyre upset the customer is late. That was our fault.However, at this point they still need to remember that this is a paying customer; either they decide to keep the appointment, or cancel it. At no point or business whatsoever does this entitle them to now proceed to treat said customer in a demeaning manner for the next hour that we are at your salon.My aunt, whom I booked the appointment dor, was charged a higher price for the appointment than was the stated rate, and, being the kindhearted and woman of principal that my friend is, still tipped this lady who provided an extremely horrible service and ruined her experience of Ulta forever. The lady who told her Ill get revenge when I visit your town and have you ever put lashes on in your life?? when she asked for them to be slightly trimmed! Unbelievable! I mean have you ever dealt with a customer in your life? Have you ever applied make up before or know that lashes are measured and trimmed when needed? Do you just hate your job or hate customer service? Because if you hate doing make up so much or are unwilling to listen to what your customer wants, what the hell are you doing working at Ulta? Is this the standard of customer service Ulta has? Or is this exclusive to the Naperville location? Does your staff receive ANY training on how to talk to a customer? I wish I had recorded her tone to prevent anyone from experiencing such humiliation. I have never experienced or heard of so much drama at a make up appointment! Getting your make up done is supposed to be a fun, relaxing, and exciting experience. At least thats what I have experienced anytime I have gotten it done at Sephora! I will definitelt be reaching out to corporate to complain about this as well, because, frankly, if it was me, maybe I would have dropped it. But this was for my elderly aunt who decided to get a little make up done for her daughters wedding.Contrasting this to Sephora where the other two appointments for our bridal party were, we received the most kind, helpful, and friendly service. Every single person was courteous and helpful, and asked us what we wanted, tried on different things to see what fit our tone and desired look, MEASURED AND TRIMMED our lashes without being asked to, and even adjusted things based on our requests and suggestions and preferred look. Due to the fact that we had arrived late, they allowed us to change one appointment to a 30 minute one instead of completely cancelling it, and did a great, wholehearted, and thorough job during that time without ANY passive aggressive or rude behavior, allowing us to truly enjoy the experience.Whether this lady at Ulta was having a bad day or she is like this everyday is unclear, however she is the reason I will never book or advise another person to book a beauty appointment at Ulta ever again. She is driving away customers, unfortunately, and will be the reason I use Sephora for any services going forward.

2022-08-06Worst experience ever with salon Services. I booked appointment and they did not even wanted to do it. Figuring out ways to say No to color as it’s a weekend or my hair is tangled. Don’t ever go to Amy hair colorist. She can’t handle your hair
