I stood in line about 10 people back and the line didn’t move for a solid 10 mins. I was getting really hot and suffocating with my mask on so I threw my stuff down and left. Why do you have someone standing around saying hi to people at the door when there are THAT many people in line??
Every time I visit I find one more item, whether its a beauty aid, for your nails, maybe your hair or complexion not quite right. Maybe you just want to smell nice, a little different than the rest (in a way that sets you apart), in a good way of course. There havent been any disappointments with Ulta. The staff are extremely welcoming, educated and really do listen. I and the wife have made it a must stop. Easy right next door to one of our favorite stops Trader Joes.Now I have to figure out the way to get the staff to lower the thermostat, my suggestion to you is if you dont have to have the heavy winter coat, leave it in the car.
The sales people are nice but they are perpetually out of stock of half the things I need. It’s too bad and it makes people like me who would like to support physical stores go to shopping on line. Ultimately it will lead to less sales for Ulta because there won’t be impulse shopping which people do when shopping in the store. I blame the store for not properly filling their stock and I can’t depend on the items I regularly buy to be there. It’s too many items all the time and it’s frustrating. If you kept your stock filled it would be five stars here.
Recently moved to the area and decided to try the salon at Ulta in Algonquin. I was SO lucky to get CHRISY doing my hair and nails! She is AWESOME! What a pleasant girl, professional and personable. The salon is clean and bright, and I enjoy my time there. The store is well stocked and sales people are helpful.
LOVE the Benefit brow bar girls. Whitney and Natalie are sooooo nice and do an amazing job! This location is clean, always well stocked, and their employees do a great job of informing customers of their brand events. Ive loved the two Ive made it to (Benefit and It Cosmetics). Employees are also really great at letting you know where the deals are at in the store. Ive saved tons just by talking to them about what Im looking for before trying to find it myself.
I went to get my makeup done for homecoming, and I showed this makeup artist, Jessica, a picture of what I wanted, and what she gave me was something completely different. Im so disappointed, I thought the women who worked there were supposed to know something about makeup and how to donut right. I wish i could add pictures to compare and prove how terrible the outcome was. $45 was a waste of my money. Theyre good at hair styling though and the store has good products.
Pretty good selection of products. Decently clean. The staff seemed a little uppity though. I have been in there numerous times and I have never been offered any help to find products, which was disappointing when I actually needed help trying to find my shade in foundation. Overall not bad though.
I did enjoy the service of getting my haircut here by Rosanne but when I got a hair trim and neck clean up by Sarah I was charged for a full hair cut and a trim. I was refused the trim charge by the woman running the desk and had to pay $45. I want to go back but Im scared if I am going to get overcharged again.
They discriminate if you dont look up to par (basically not white) and serve you with aggressive customer service by recovering around you and asking me if Im STILL finding everything alright over 18 times (I wish I was exaggerating but I started counting as soon as I noticed what they were doing). I spent over $200 in here but will be returning right back due to this unfortunate circumstance. Manager needs to retrain his staff, this is unacceptable.
I have been to about 5 Ulta stores in the area, and the one in Algonquin is by far the best. The staff is so helpful, employees are everywhere, ready to help if you need it. This is the first Ulta (maybe the only Ulta) that was as good as Sephora when it comes to service. Ill go out of my way to shop at this store from now on.
I love Ulta just like the next person but this store can be a little rude, insensitive, and not helpful. I usually come to this location because it’s convenient. Today though I’ve just had enough. I had a brow appointment today. I called 4 hours before my appointment (which I do feel you guys should have a follow up system, so you don’t loose sales ) to not only confirm my appointment. After waiting on the phone for 20 mins they found my appointment time. I said thank you and I wasn’t frustrated because I’ve worked in retail as well. I called an hour prior to arrival to inform them I was going to be a few mins late, I was getting ready for a funeral so I was still at the funeral home. It was told over the phone it was fine. I get there and one of the associates asked if I had an appointment, explaining everything and being only a couple mins late. She said everything wad fine. I stood around awhile. When I see the nice lady tell Whitney I was here. The women told Whitney everything with me in ear shot. Whitney says “That sucks, I’m busy, this lady just walked in, oh well.” And turns back to continuing her task. Now I’m grateful the nice women asked if she could have another associate help me , Whitney said maybe. The young lady was able to get me in for service for an hour later. Now what I’m upset about is the way Whitney handled this. She could of said unfortunately I’m booked, I would of asked if there was anything she could do, but if she couldn’t I wouldn’t of been upset. I would of understood. I was late a couple mins , if happens...but not acknowledging a customer, or empathizing shows that you shouldn’t be in customer service. What she did was unprofessional. That makes customers not want to come back
I love the store and go there for all my beauty needs. However, dont get your makeup done here. I went to go get my makeup done for prom, and ended up looking like a raccoon. I asked for a light pink natural eye look, and she ended up using blue eyeshadow. Not to mention she didnt actually match my foundation to my skin, and just used the same shade the previous client wore. I am extremely fair skinned, and she took the foundation she previously used and said looks light enough. It wasnt, I looked like an Oompa Loompa. Dont spend the $50. I know enough about makeup, so I took it all off and did my own makeup, which looked 100x better than what this supposed professional makeup artist did.
I had such a wonderful experience yesterday. I made an appt for a makeup lesson since Im getting married Saturday, and I wear very little make up. The girls took such good care of me, going above and beyond to make sure my makeup was a perfect match, and that the products I received would be products I could use everyday. When I got home, my Fiance said, Oh Wow, you look like one of those Housewives, lolol, teasing of course. I love the make up, loved the make up lesson, and they have a client for life.
Can’t say enough how much i love Being inside ulta, it’s my Disneyland. But trying to get actual assistance with products is getting worse and worse. The employees (some or all) work for the individual makeup companies so it doesn’t matter what you ask, they turn it around and try to sell you their brand instead. This has happened every time I’ve been in the last five times now. Even when i asked a specific question about a specific brand , suddenly I’m handed a different brand and it makes me not trust anything they say anymore. I’d like to be able to request a neutral ulta salesperson.

2022-08-17The customer service I received from Ariela was amazing! I had assistance on the floor from someone else that was very helpful but when I got to the checkout desk I had additional questions and she took her time to explain everything. She was so patient and funny. I hope she becomes the master trainer for that store and is recognized by management for her awesome customer service. I usually shop online but based off the experience I had today I will certainly shop in the store. I walked out feeling like Rihanna 😊.

2022-04-17I’m pretty frustrated as I have been a customer of yours for many years. I headed across town to the Algonquin Ulta tonight, knowing that it was getting close to closing time, but that I would make it there before closing. I arrived to the door at just before 7:55. Both doors were LOCKED.I knocked and three separate employees IGNORED me and walked away. I didn’t so much as get a wave, a hand signal, nothing. As a customer was leaving, I walked in.The woman, Gianna was now near the door and said abruptly with an attitude that they are closed. I said it’s not 8:00 yet! (Completely frustrated because I had now been standing outside at a locked door for a few minutes - but it’s still NOT 8:00!) so I walked in to get my item (a last minute gift). I walk back to the checkout lane (all within 30 seconds and STILL BEFORE 8:00).All I hear is GIANNA talking to Tyler loudly about me! How completely unprofessional! At least wait until I leave or whisper if you’re dying to talk about me. I had to defend myself and say it was not 8 o’clock yet. Not that I should have to!You are closing the door to paying customers before 8:00. Not only that, but you have only one woman doing checkout with a line of people waiting. There were people still wandering the store but I’m not able to grab my item and run to the checkout? Huh? The whole time TYLER is rudely saying to people we close at 8:00. I waited in line and when it was my turn, my checkout took maybe 30 seconds tops.I politely asked for the manager on duty, because surely they would find this unacceptable. Nope! I had the pleasure of speaking with ABBEY who looked like she couldn’t care any less. Actually no, she looked like she was shooting daggers, the way she was looking at me. I mentioned how upset I was that they were talking about me so loudly in the middle of the store- she disingenuously said “I mean, there’s nothing I can do about that now..” WOW. Abbey went on to tell me that her store’s policy is to close early. HOPE YOU HEAR THAT AT CORPORATE.I told Abbey I’m also a manager (I would NEVER behave that way) and her response is unacceptable. I wished her the best in her career.I’ve been a customer of Ulta for many years. I’m a huge makeup and perfume geek. I’m pretty upset not only that I got this type of treatment, but that your so-called manager’s response was so disingenuous.I’m sure nothing will come of this, but my god, have some compassion. What a RUDE group of people at that store tonight.

2021-07-28I have been going to this Ulta for about a decade. They color matched me for the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear back in 2019. It’s still my go-to foundation, same shade and all! I appreciate that they offer assistance and respect when I say, “no thanks, I’m okay today.”Whether I have a full face of makeup or I’m bare skinned, the staff is happy to help and offer guidance. This may not seem like a big deal to some people. But I’ve been treated differently depending on the amount of makeup I have on in other stores (not Ulta). Never have I been ignored, treated rudely, or spoken down to here…something I greatly appreciate.

2022-03-05Do not get your childs ears pierced here!! Took my daughter today, shes been wanting to get them donr and decided we will take her here and the lady that did them totally botched it. So bad that the earing had to be removed there. She totally missed the mark went way to low and was very painful for my daughter. Now my daughter is scared to get them done so who knows when she will have the courage to get them done again! Please think twice before you take your child here. This lady should not be able to do ear piercings again after today!! I did contact the manager she said she will comp them if we come in another time. Unfortunately we will not be back there!

2019-10-22Always a neat and clean store. And typically always has what I am looking for. If its not on the shelf , staff has no problem checking the back room stock or drawer stock to find what I need! Or they always offer to order it online so I can get free delivery. I picked up some of my tried and true as well as some new products. New here in this purchase is the KKW lipstick trio, the eyelure promagnetic lash kit, and the UD brow blade. Based on trying it in the store , I think Ill love it.

2021-07-26Went in today needing lots of help finding a neutral moisturizing lip color that complimented my features. Tracy was extremely knowledgeable and kind, and she helped me thoroughly the minute I stepped in the door! Would highly recommend this location due to the friendliness and efficiency of staff like Tracy.

I have been very impressed with the quality of the services I have received.Chrisy is very knowledgeable, passionate and experienced master stylist who will advise you and style/cut/color/tone and treat your hair for your best hair health and look. She is one of a kind professional you would want to be in charge of what happens to your hair once you are in need of looking and feeling well about your hair. Chrisy is also very helpful with her knowledge of the best products available in such abundance at Ulta, which really helps me with selecting what would work for me. Me and my daughter are always uplifted after an appointment with her. Thank you Chrisy!!

2021-06-04I have not been in for over 2 years. Staff is fantastic, always clean and organized. Highly disappointed in the merchandise/stock. I went on Google looking for an item and the shelves were empty.Better luck on my next visit. Not giving up.
