Trader Joes in other cities:
I am sorry, I know people love this place bit its not for me. It reminds me of old dollar stores. Nothing is where I expect it to be. Prices are good I guess for healthy food. I know its good but something about the odd lay out and strange foods I never heard of, its like a more expensive food that looks generic. I never had a bad problem. With anyone or anything. Just being honest. If its for you great. Keep supporting them.
Pleasant atmosphere to shop in. Large variety of food sized small enough for singles, e.g. single serving salads, fruit priced by the piece, etc. Good wine selection. Excellent nuts selection. Lots of interesting food to check out. The truffle flavored potato chips are one of my favorites.
It seems that every employee is well trained, knowledgeable, & very friendly. Although, I dont frequent Trader Joes that often as I did before, cause its far away, we always have a pleasant experience. On this occasion, thanks to a very nice employee, we discovered that there is a health and beauty section there.
This Traders Joe is not the biggest location Ive been to. However it definitely still has everything associated with the brand that customers do love. Traders Joe is more of a special treat for me since the prices high ( compared to my local grocery stores). I end of getting a few packs of crackers. Overall, its a great experience but not for my day to day food shopping!
Joes is almost the only store we shop at (OK not actually me but my husband ) and a few outstanding items is the reason. Tangarin juice. WOW you didnt know you needed it. Gluten free foods (they could have more) are few but awesome! GF Cinnamon bread. Im addicted. Friendly staff: yes please. Beautiful flowers: seals the deal.
So many healthy and informed choices at reasonable prices. Im very impressed with and really appreciate all the respect and attention to detail that staff has given to sanitizing and safe distancing during this time. If there only was a store closer to where I live (no car), I would shop here more often. Thank you for caring Trader Joes. ❤
Always a happy place to shop. But it seems Monday night is an empty shelves kind of experience after the busy weekend in the store. The pet supplies section was low on merchandise, and totally out of the one specific dog treat I came to the store to buy. But the happy cashier made up for the disappointment.
A terrific place to shop for unique grocery items and produce of excellent quality. All their locations weve visited have been staffed with friendly, intelligent, helpful people who have willingly and generously assisted us. Our main grocer is Marianos with Trader Joes as auxiliary partner. The combo leaves Whole Foods coughing in the dust.
Prices are a little bit high because almost everything is organic. But the quality is pretty high. They always prepare sample food based on the products that they are selling. Not only it might make you a customer of those products but also you can receive good cooking advice by the person who is preparing them. Super friendly staff members and very helpful all the times. I like the store environment and of course their flowers.
Love the selection, the manager and cashier were so friendly and engaging. My daughter dropped her cookies outside and the manager gave us a new one, no problem. I opened my coffee bag wrong to grind in store, and he offered to replace it. I didnt see it necessary but it was so kind to offer. Definitely A+ on customer service.
During these times with the pandemic, I totally understand and respect the need for distance and safety. But, customer service and sensible kindness shouldnt be sacrificed as a result. Or at least not receive dirty looks, or getting scolded for not staying at the taped line. It took one second to just look at the price of the register. Sorry~~Other than that, good prices for a good selection. Sometimes cheaper and better than wholefoods, down the street.
Great selection of wine at very reasonable prices. I also like their olive oil and dark chocolate covered almonds. Meats, produce, and frozen items are aimed at convenience, but the prepared stuff can be high in salt so read labels. Not really a full service grocery store, but a good place to pick up specific items.
Overall, good experience. Trader Joes consistently has a good variety of healthy and unique products in stock. Produce is a bit expensive and parking is always tight because some douche parks in two spots. But, in general, you shouldnt be disappointed with staff or selection.
Great customer service and the food is great! I had one small mishap with the chicken and they quickly gave me a refund and replacement for the product. Their vegan options are also great! Their veggies could use some work but overall great place to shop and love the prices and quality! Would be nice in the future if they carried more variety of fruit. Also I think it would be nice if they did samples of some of the frozen products they carry.
The staff at this Trader Joes is phenomenal. Theyre always ready to engage in friendly conversation and they are very kid-friendly. I did have a hard time finding parking because their parking lot is a little small, but it wasnt that bad. Things are easy to find and Ill continue to visit it.
I love Trader Joes. Ive shopped here a lot. Ive come a few times since Covid. The people at the door are always courteous. However my checkout experience has made me leary. Twice Ive seen the person ahead of me check out and the cashier attempts to hand them their receipt as they leave. However as I am checking out on both occasions the cashier has told me to grab my own receipt. (get it yourself) It makes me feel uncomfortable. Is this really pick and choose and if so based on what? If this is happening to others it needs to be the same across registers. Maybe putting the receipt in the bag with EVERY customer would suffice.
Variety is the spice of lifeGood choices & high qualityFriendly customer serviceVery good place to go for shopping (groceries) with family. Varied food items from different countries is one of their speciality.Beware, some items are very cheap in price compared to neighboring stores but some are very costly. Unless you do the price check, you might spend more.Quality wise all the food items were very good.Friendly customer service
The best managed local grocery store during this pandemic. You join a queue outside store, wait as someone gets done with shopping and comes out, get hand sanitizer and a properly wiped cart, maintain nice distance from others inside store, cashier scans and packs stuff for you, you pay and exit the store. Gives you a sense of responsibility for others and keeps you safe through your shopping experience.Dont like this experience? There are many other stores to match your league!
Low prices and mostly good quality food. I love flavored Sparkling Waters and here theyre only $0.79 each. I usually get 10 or 12 at a time and use one of their discarded wine boxes to carry it in. Fruits and vegetables are high quality and reasonably priced. Also beer, chicken and exotic cheese prices are low. 🌞
Superb location! Literally I have NEVER seen one of the employees in a bad mood, or crotchety with customers! They couldnt be more solicitous, friendly, and helpful, and the store is never anything other than immaculately clean and well organized! They always have whatever I need in stock, and they have grassfed beef available! I LOVE shopping here, and it will always be one of my favorite grocery stores to hit for essentials. Please bring in more sausage options (breakfast and otherwise) with no sugars added, though! 🙏🏻☺️
This is a great place for affordable but good wine and nice snacks. I used to come here a lot for their coconut cream, but they dont seem to sell it anymore. I do come for the tuna in just water (not broth) which is more affordable than the equivalent other places. Also good for frozen foods. They dont carry staples like flour.
I live in chicago but will drive to this evanston TJs for groceries. i’ve always experienced phenomenal customer service. everyone goes above and beyond - one time our car broke down in the lot, and the team was so kind and accommodating.during the pandemic, it’s worth noting that this is where i feel safest to shop!
I buy all of my meat here. Reasonably priced quality meats. Organic, non-hormone, non antibiotic, cruelty free. They also have kosher. Besides meat they have many high quality and reasonably priced foods. Some are imports. Great place for wine and cheese. They also have a great selection of frozen fish.

Trader Joes is a great little grocery store. They really only carry their own brand here so if youre brand loyal this isnt the place to go. But they have great things, pretty good prices, and they are great at the register...meaning I usually dont have to wait in line very long and my groceries are bagged efficiently and securely!
Trader Joes is one of my favorite places to shop for groceries. This location is always well stocked with the most recently featured TJ items that are featured in the flyer. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. Its a clean store and I never have any issues with parking. This location is also close to the purple line which is convenient if youre taking public transportation.
Gosh, this review is soooooooooooo overdue. Often times we go well over our way to complain and not put in the same effort to leave a positive review (shame on us as people) . Ive been coming to this Trader Joes for quite some time, its always clean, staff is SUPER friendly. One of their amazing employees Kathy is always smiles when she sees me and my son, she remembered us from the first time we stepped foot in the store and that means a lot. Reminds me of how personable people used to be. This TJ is an excellent addition to the neighborhood, even when Wholefoods was open I would drive right pass them to get to TJ. Im a stickler for Great Customer Service and this place is the Epitome of that!Keep up the great work and take all my money! 🤗
Shopping at Trader Joes can be counted on for these things: a bright, spacious store containing a wide variety of both commonly available- and novel products, all without artificial preservatives, many organic; happy, friendly, knowledgeable employees; and prices that are competitive for what you are getting. Packaged wine and beer are sold. An extremely wide variety of desserts and snacks is also available.
This is my go-to Trader Joes. It is clean, well stocked and the staff are really friendly. It is a VERY popular store, so it can get quite crowded on the weekends. My only gripe about this location is that it can be difficult to get parking here, especially in the winter. I have driven around their parking lot for 15 minutes before waiting for a spot to open up.
One of my favorite, neighborhood grocery stores. I can recognize most of the employees when I see them and when they see me and my family. Great selection of food and no discussing food colorings, high fructose corn syrup, and other unnecessary ingredients in foods. Love this place!

My shopping spot. I absolutely love their own Trader Joes brand products! Would it be a coconut oil or a bottle of sake, I know I wont be disappointed. Their cheese variety usually makes me buy more than I need just because I want to try them all) also I love their nuts and sees, its affordable and the quality is also good.
The store is always neat, even when I walk in during the 3pm Sunday rush. The employees and friendly. There’s a good amount of parking.I can’t really say anything bad about this place except that my wallet frequently takes a hit because I always walk out buying way more than I anticipated.
This place is amazing and I wont say that about many places but Trader Joes is way better than Walmart or Jewel-Osco or any other store the staff is willing to laugh and talk to you without asking and help you find things without asking they dont approach you annoyingly or with a bad attitude they walk up and make a joke or theyll just try to start a conversation with you. its great.
Man what a great place, premade stuff, fresh produce, cheeses galore, wines that are good and reasonably priced. Ran into an old friend who works there, a hug, friendly smile and a tasty sample of the days specials; but whats more important is that he took the time to be interested in me as a person not a patron. That is why I will always be coming back.
Praising TJ is like trying to aim flashlight at the Sun. Only regret I have is that there isnt one closer. I consider their business model very ingenious. Enough standard staples (for regulars to keep coming back) along with constantly changing seasonal and other varieties (for the adventurers like me) makes TJ THE choice for me.
Nicest staff ever! When my gf had surgery and came in with her brace and crutch they offered to help her repeatedly each time she went. If I left her side to go get something I came back to some worker trying to help her. These people are salt of the earth and I told the CEO such when I met him in the store one day. Evanston is lucky to have such folks taking care of us all each dayBest grocery store in the world!
Bar none excellent customer service. Reasonably priced food, good food, healthy food. Clean store. Human mgrs., patient cashiers. An extremely caring place to shop. 12th st., as well as your Evanston store. Id be proud to take a friend or family for the 1st time to experience this haven of food to shop! Thank you . A very merry Christmas to Trader Joes. May you New Year be blessed as well as merry and bright. Thank you.
Actually a very nice store, overall good quality and prices. But the customer service...I wanted to buy some beer and they refused to accept my swiss ID and wanted a passport (which i obviously do not carry around with me), claiming that this was a local evanston regulation. However, I have been in at least 10 grocery stores, bars and restaurants in evanston and all of them accepted the ID without any questions, showing me that this was nothing but a lack of customer service/appreciation...
I cant fault the store for its customers, or can I? I love Trader Joes for all that it is. I can find inexpensive options for very uncommon grocery items as well as healthier choices for the more common of items. The only reason I cringe upon entering any of their locations is that it seems a self absorbed stupidity falls upon its shoppers. I deal with rude customers who block aisles to talk to friends, stand in front of shelves to talk on their phones and are absolutely disgusted with you for asking them to move after waiting patiently for them to catch on. I have encountered mothers with children running wild and doing nothing to curtail their behavior. They terrorize other shoppers and when you ask them to please not climb all over your cart, or not run into you or even just ask them to step aside so you can navigate the aisle you area greeted with a hostile huff and puff from their mother. This is not just at one visit, or at one location - certainly not just one instance; these and more situations happen every time I shop at a Trader Joes (which is more tolerable than trying to shop Whole Foods where the same happens on a greater scale). I will not let stupid deter me - I will keep shopping here.
Its difficult to say that a Trader Joes is just okay but for some reason this one was out of a lot of products and the produce was not fresh. It could have been because it was a Saturday? This is not my typical go to Trader Joes, but I hoped it would be somewhat standard. It wasnt very organized. The staff was professional but not particularly friendly as in other Trader Joes Ive visited. Everyone has their moments and maybe the staff members I encountered were a very occupied trying to organize the store (?). This is an Okays TJs, not the best Trader Joes in the Chicago land area although Evanston isnt Chicago.
Trader Joes just has about everything you could want at a great price. These two brothers that started Aldi and Trader Joes make up a good portion of my grocery shopping. This week it was the umami seasoning, truffle salt, they are new pancake bread yum and the Bim Bam bop bowls which are a household favorite for us. I love how they come out with products you didnt know you couldnt live without! My only caveat is of course when they discontinued them. That saddens me. But of course that can happen at any grocery store.
For years I asked TJs national management WHEN would a TJs be built in Evanston. Well its here and its great. The customer service is unsurpassed! Dont expect a super wide variety of produce, (if you want that, go down the block to Whole Foods). Youll find their excellent selection of most of what you need at reasonable prices. Their selection of beer is good, their selection of wine is better, and their selection of hard liquor is just OK, but the prices are very good.
Great people working there, without a doubt. I dont drive, so I usually do car share for groceries. Traveling to the store and finding my most favorite items out of stock doesnt sit well with me, and this has happened a few times. Id also like a greater selection of organic AND non-GMO products. Ive noticed more recently there have been items marked organic, but not with a green label which I believe indicates organic and non-GMO if the sku# begins with the number nine and has 5 digits. My body knows when its being tricked, sobif I can ma mage I only purchase the latter. All in all, I love the energy of this store. The employees make the trip worthwhile.
While technically having everything any Trader Joes should, I found this location was a little underwhelming in execution of the basics. Bread wasnt as fresh as youd like, produce was a little worse for wear, some items were under/miss stocked. Unfortunately inverse of the stores in the Chicago City proper tend to be a little more beat up than those in the suburbs paradigm.
The girl at the check out counter tossed the pear i wanted to eat back and forth from hand to hand while she entered different product codes into the register looking for the right one for pears. I just stood there and looked at her thinking, and Im supposed to eat that later? Hint: when dealing with money all day, please handle peoples food as little as possible. Its unsanitary and not very appealing.Other than that, the store was OK.

2022-01-07This location definitely is the best grocery store in the area. With those few times that I went here the store would always be clean and spotless. When I first went here it was easy for me to locate and find things that I needed because everything is well organized. Products are in a good quality. Most of the products are local products but there are also lots of branded or imported products. I never went here without buying something interesting because there are many interesting products inside. The produce is always fresh as well as their flowers that I love to buy and put as a decoration in my place. The prices are fair and reasonable which is really a good thing too. The staffs on the other hand are friendly, accommodating and very helpful. They always greet you with a smile and would help you gladly with anything. I really love this location. Keep it up Trader Joes!

2022-06-26Not only is there a great variety of delicious things, but the service was also quite kinds and quick and functional.I enjoyed it very much.Highly recommend the turkey sandwich (I believe it had provolone or cheddar or some yummy cheese). The pesto chicken wrap is so so... But there seems to be something for everyone there 👍I truly couldnt find anything to take a star off for. Did my best 😉

2022-02-17Id never been to a Trader Joes. I was amazed myself to that fact AFTER Id visited Trader Joes. This store is incredible on the grocery level. And its all pretty much Trader Joes brand! Frozen, pre-made, bakery, snacks... pretty cool that they make their own stuff! And the staff is so cool & helpful. Rather good experience. Thanks!

2021-08-01I really do like Trader Joes. It may not have everything youre looking for, but it has a lot of items you cant get anywhere else. Prices are great, even for organic stuff, and we never have to worry about something being out of stock. With those prices, we dont mind going out on a limb to try something we havent tried before. The frozen section is especially valuable for that (although I do wish that TJ would enclose them. It seems wasteful to pump all of that coolant and electricity--but this is a problem/concern for all grocery stores). As a bonus, some of their own TJ-branded stuff is really, really good. Id love to see a full-sized TJ someday. This one, like many other locations, is, shall we say, cozy rather than roomy?

2022-06-02I used to do most of my shopping here, but now I just get a few select things. Prices went way up, even before the current Inflation, and quality of many items went down. The ready made salads are one example. Mostly lettuce and way less protein and vegetables. Smaller in size and higher price. I bought a bag of frozen chicken strips to supplement the salads and it was a blob of weird colored mush. No strips. Looks like it was thawed and refrozen too. And more often than not they are out of my favorite items, though this could be related to current supply chain issues.

2022-04-30This is my first time in a Trader Joes and I wouldnt call it a grocery store. Its more like a corner store. Its pretty small with a slim choice of products. Maybe I was expecting more, but I wouldnt go there for a full grocery run.

2022-04-21An alternative to Jewel-Osco. Appeals to hipsters! Fun to look around and buy things. Unique food selections. Good fruit and vegetable selections. Many unique products from all over the world.

2022-07-01We love this location. Down the road is the movie theather. But I found their Key Lime powdered sugar cookies. OMG they were tart, sharp-worthiness . But melt in your mouth cookies. So, good great with coffee or tea. Then I noticed their UBE Purple Yam Ice Cream, I should have bought it. But it would have melted by the time we got home. But I tried UBE from Baskin Robbins Ice Cream with a Ribbon of Sweet Cream It was so, so great tasting Ice Cream. Its my next thing to get. I love their Natural Beef Jerky, Original Its Red package and a Gold ribbon and there is a cow with horns on the package. its little spicy but good, No Sodium Nitr I tried their Natural Turkey Jerky is in a Gold-ish Yellow package with with a Turkey on the package, a Beige Ribbon its too spicy but good, chewy and large pieces. It use kitchen scissors to cut the pieces smaller to eat at a later time.

2022-06-06Trader Joes says it cares about the environment, but it does not show it with its actions. Why bring water all the ways from New Zealand when it can have a purifying machine here in Chicago where I can fill my container.
