The service there was okay, could of been more better waitress could barely understand and vice verse yet she was charming. We order the sweet corn nachos and it was terrible too hot not enough chicken (mind you the first order cook forgot to put the chicken on there). The sauce was either on top or on the bottom...the chips they use are hard. If you get one chip thats soaked in the sauce its half way decent. We came because it was recommended by a lady that worked in the area...clearly she has nasty taste buds..anywho I know not to go there anymore..
Do not go here before a show at Chicago Shakespeare. Really, do not come at all. We have tried multiple times, due to coming in from the suburbs through bad traffic, and the service is always very slow, but this last was just terrible. I never post reviews, but this is to help whoever is reading. We waited 40 minutes for one order of street corn nachos. During that time no one checked in on us until we flagged down the bartender to ask about our food. When it did come, 10 minutes later, it was lukewarm cheese sauce with a little corn, a few jalapenos, and tepid sliced chicken. No silverware and no one we could catch to ask for any. It would have been better to go to the fast food place next door for a plate of hummus, or even just get several bags of snacks at the theater bar. Its sad, because such a location should be golden, but apparently the management places no value on service. We will not be back, no matter how hungry I am before a play.
Had a great time once with a group of four in October 2019 in the evening on a Saturday. Great waiter, good food, food drinks! Was excited to come back. Just attended today, February 2020, middle of day on a Sunday, we were two of a total of 6 people in the place. We waited 35 minutes for our food - a burger, salad, and sandwich. Hardly saw our waiter, had to ask for napkins after HE spilled water, he was generally rude with comments and weird “small talk”. Only one side of the bread for sandwich was toasted, plate for salad was barely big enough to eat off without spilling...generally just a weird experience. Other people got food faster when they ordered alcoholic drinks and we did not, so maybe that’s the key. Either way, we will not be coming back.
If I lived in chicago, I would have a really hard time staying away from this place! We went to Six, and came to tiny tavern before and it was so good! Food was amazing, Tony the bartender made me the most refreshing cocktail Ive had in a long time! Im not one for flavored vodkas normally but damn this was good! Service was fast, friendly, and fun. Cant wait to come back!
Ate here early for lunch before walking the pier and wish wed just gone hungry, honestly. Our waitress was not engaging or friendly at all. My turkey club was off somehow, as was the pulled chicken sandwich another member of my party had. Both of us had to head to the bathroom pretty quickly after leaving the restaurant. Moral of the story- eat at one of the great local Chicago restaurants BEFORE you go to the Pier.
Cite atmosphere but not worth it. Food was okay but the service was terrible. We started off our meal by getting water spilled across our table by the server. They then didnt take our order for ten minutes. After that our drinks were slow and they didnt remove the cap off my beer. Another friend got her order mixed up and they didnt bring it out until twenty minutes after our food came out. They did discount the food but we wont be going back.
Visiting from out of town and randomly decided to give this spot a try for a snack and drink when down at the pier. We had a great experience. Very good service! Split the Roselyn Fries with a friend, which were delightful. Another friend had the chicken soup...cannot say a single bad thing about it!! Yum!! Great drinks too. This place has a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely return!
The only reason this place deserves a 2 star is because there food was good and the place was empty(I dont like going to packed bars). That said, it may have been empty for a reason.I came to Navy Pier on a Wednesday in the summer for the fireworks. The fireworks were at 9:30 and I got here at 8. An hour and a half should be enough time for a few beers and an appetizer. We order the cheese curds and a beer and it all came out pretty fast. The beer selection was good and the cheese curds were my favorite. The service was severely lacking though.By time I finished my second beer, my waitress never came back. She kept walking past me ignoring me talking to other people at the bar. I had to flag her down for my second beer. Normally this isnt a problem, especially when the bar is busy, so I ignored it. Then at 9 we wanted to go get a good spot for the fireworks. Our beers were finished and we were waiting on the waitress again. We couldnt even interrupt her because she kept talking to other people again. 20 minutes went by and we had to flag her down again which was a pain. Once we did, it was already close to the fireworks. She clearly knew about the fireworks because she kept talking about them, so wed hoped shed hurt, but she took her sweet old time. It took us over half an hour to get out checks and we completely missed the fireworks. What really pissed me off was the service clearly sucked, so I wanted to tip low, but she added an 18% automatic tip to the check. Its absurd shed add a high tip when my service sucked. All and all, the food was good, and the beer was good. The waitress was extremely slow, so maybe if you dont get the same one youll have a pleasant time. I however did not.
Stopped in for a quick drink while waiting for a show. Quality was great but service after receiving my drink was disappointing. Sat waiting with an empty cup in front of me when I was going to order a second beverage. Had to force my money on the bartender so we could leave in time for the show since no one came back around
Cons: Bar service was terrible. Waited for over 10 minutes before getting acknowledged even though it wasnt busy & made eye contact numerous times. It takes two seconds to say, Ill be right with you. Two different people were behind the bar! Bartender was the unfriendliest person Ive encountered in the service industry. Beyond unwelcoming. Strange experience. Wont be back.Pros: Drink was good tasting & I could take it to go!Please properly train the staff here. I was a bartender/mixologist in LA & San Francisco for 15 years & this was unacceptable.
OMG the roasted beet salad is fabulous (and I dont usually eat beets). The lunch portions wee perfect, and their speciality drinks were crisp and refreshing after a say Navy Pier. We all got different meals and shared. Everything we got was good. They also carry local beers. This little place is worth the visit. It was not that much more expensive than eating at the food court, but the food was 100 times better than fast food.
I don’t normally write this type of review but I must say that I was not impressed with this place. I chose to dine here with my family before our show at Chicago Shakesphere and the service was just so slow. The menu had little selection. The bartender also screwed up our drinks and tried to pass a Chardonnay for a Sauvignon Blanc. I do not think we will be returning.
Me and my friend Jason where looking for place to eat in the Navy pier so we found Tiny Tavern we both are from out of town. The server was incredible slow we order one tomato soup that had little flavour. Me friend order the cream of chick was way over seasoned. We spilt Turkey club that they burn the bread first time so we waited for another sandwich to come out granted the parking is outrageous expensive to park on the pier.
The best beer selection Ive seen on Navy Pier. You can get beers to go (which I highly recommend...) Service is lack luster at best. They also automatically added gratuity for some reason. I was going to tip slightly more (because Im not soulless) but thats kind of unprofessional to add gratuity and not tell you so I left it at what they elected to give themselves.
Absolute trash establishment. The bartender yelled this is not a public restroom when me and my friends tried to use the bathroom AFTER we sat in the restaurant and drank multiple beers for like an hour. The server had to come and verify before the bartender calmed down. He needs to either chill, become a better bartender or just quit his job.
Food was dissapointing to say least and not at all worth the price. Soggy lettuce and what tasted like day old fries were only some of what we were served. Staff was less than enthusiastic about helping customers and were more interested in their personal phones. Dont expect this place to be children friendly and when they say tiny, they mean tiny.
Had to wait for an hour just to get an empanada and pulled pork. Empanadas were burnt and tasted frozen. Pineapple chipotle sauce smelled funky and had no taste of pineapple whatsoever. Pulled pork was okay-ish. Not a good experience at all. I rate both food and service 2/10 at max!
First time at this place which is tucked away at the back of Navy Pier. Certainly lives up to its name. Menu prices are what to be expected for a place at the Pier. Drinks were priciest of all. Got the grilled cheese sandwich which was one of the more expensive food items. It was decent. Not a place Id frequent.
This is some of the best food on the pier for the price. A sit down joint with tables and bar seating, the decor is elevated for Navy Pier standards. A small menu of sandwiches and salads along with some bar food staples like nachos, truffle fries and cheese curds. Enjoyed the potato and bean empanadas and the truffle fries. Have had a few sandwiches from here and they were fine. Not amazing but easily great compared to what else is on The Pier. Some fine cocktails as well as a good Pinot in the by the glass category and a full bar to boot. Better then reheated pizza and cheaper then Riva, this place fits right in the middle.
Worst experience in Chicago (the bartender who I will call Igor ...red haired with big beard). We ordered their number one cocktail, a simple Dark & Stormy with just three ingredients. It started out sweet and refreshing, but half way through it became extremely bitter. We choked them down since with was hot and muggy out, and I commented to Igor that the cocktail was bitter and not satisfying, and he immediately rebuked us with a remark...”you drank it, you have to pay for it, it’s the same in life, and anywhere in the world.” Walking out with our disapproving looks, Igor said “don’t come back now, ya’here.” No worried Igor...we won’t, thank you very little. It doesn’t take much to make me a satisfied customer, even just a polite comment of a small credit would have sufficed, but to be barraged with negativity was completely unacceptable and took some shine off our Chitown experience. This was an hour after coming down from the 96th floor Signature lounge in the Hancock Tower, which is where we should have stayed just a bit longer.
Absolutely love the establishment been wanting to try it since i seen it being built and it passes the standard for being a very laid back and friendly place.me and the wife wasnt to hungry so stopped in for are first time and ordered appetizers i ordered the pulled pork cheese fries and when got to the table i was surprised at the size, they call it the tiny tavern but they got some big ass food lol everything was fresh to our liking and will definitely put this place on my favorite list....keep up the great work guys ill be coming back to try other things on the menu for sure

2022-07-04Brought family here as we have enjoyed ourselves a few times at the River Walk location and ended up really regretted it. We ordered cheese curds and a caesar salad (nearly $30) and both were a huge let down. The salad was maybe 5 pieces of lettuce cut up and covered in Italian dressing. The cheese curds tasted good but were smashed on the dish and the portion was extremely small.

2022-07-16Horrible service, no one should go to this place. Initially was told “the kitchen” was closed for about 15 mins before we can place our order. After waiting 20 mins, we ask the waitress and she stated the kitchen is still closed and we would have to wait another 15mins or more. It seemed like they did not want to serve us to begin with due to us being a minority. When we walked in there, there were people eating so clearly the kitchen was “open” right before we arrived. After 45mins of waiting, the kitchen magically opened when 2 other groups were being seated. After ordering, we were told the food would be out in 15 mins. The waiting game continues. Then we see that food was brought out to 2 other tables who just walked in and our food was no where to be found. We asked how come the other tables were served when they just walked in and we’ve been waiting for almost 1.5 hours. Both my husband and mother are diabetic and their sugar was going down but clearly this restaurant does not care. When the manager came to speak with us, she had major attitude and was trying to make up excuses (such as the Wi-Fi “stopped” at our order and did not print the receipt) as to why we were being treated differently. Then my mother got very upset with her and the manager’s reply was to refund us the money and to not serve us. After waiting almost 1.5 hours, they did not even try to improve our experience. Horrible manager and horrible restaurant. They will be reported for their clear racist behavior!

2022-07-05They delivered our food to the wrong table when there was only a few tables in the restaurant seated at that time. After 30-40 minutes we asked them about it and they gave attitude to us and refunded the food but not the tip which was 20%. We waited another 10 minutes and then left with no food ever arriving.

2019-06-14Lower level inside and outside:We ordered the BBQ Pulled Chicken, the Chicken Empanadas, the Corn Nachos, and the Pretzel. BBQ chicken was great it is served with a pickle on the bun. The chicken and Potato empanadas were phenomenal. 10/10. The nachos were obviously fresh and were not as good as they cooled off. The pretzel.... Well Ive never met one I havent liked but this wasnt one to write home about.

2017-09-28Dope place to stop right quick for a drink or snack (or both). Whiskey sour was on point. Bartenders were attentive even though the place was packed. Would definitely stop in again next time Im in the area.

2018-08-25I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. The hostess was watching a movie on her tablet and didn’t even acknowledge when we walked up. Our waitress was very nice but didn’t come around very much at all, we and the lady next to us waited for at least 8 minutes to get a refill on drinks. The burger I got was nothing much to talk about, it wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t something to get again. Also while we’re eating there was a group of employees two table over that were sitting on their phones the whole time we were eating, not sure if they were on break or what but it made the restaurant look very poorly managed.
