Worst experience with the delivery service.Got my furniture delivered yesterday. 3 guys showed up. Two of the guys who were inside moving and assembling furniture were wearing their masks partially. I asked them politely, and they completely ignored my request. Then I asked again them to wear their masks properly, guy said No, I am tired, I will not, and told me we should be wearing the mask. So, I went ahead and put on a mask, and asked them again. They completely ignored me. They basically dumped the furniture in bedroom and left. Not a word on their way out. The Room place should reconsider who they hire for their delivery service. They are charging hefty amount for the delivery fee, and the service they provide is not acceptable.
We had a fantastic interaction with sales associate Vanessa! After realizing the sectional we originally loved wouldn’t fit our living room set-up, she immediately had a suggestion for a different sectional that was better priced and fit our needs. Highly recommend speaking with Vanessa if you shop at this location! Very knowledgeable and made the process easy and fun!
Durwin Arnold was very professional and really went above and beyond to make our experience a good one. We are returning customers of The RoomPlace and after my visit today, I know I will definitely come again for my hone furnishings. Good and clean environment and exceptional service.
Purchased media center 2 weeks ago. It was part of the Memorial Day sales. Wasn’t in stock but was told it would be available 6/21 and I scheduled delivery for Saturday 6/23. Just received call yesterday from sales person informing me they discontinued the set. This was quite perplexing to me as how can something I purchased weeks ago which was on display in store and part of their sale be discontinued after I paid for it and have been anticipating delivery. They offered the discounted floor model but it was scratched up too badly. They also told me they would have to disassemble for delivery and then reassemble. This would definitely degrade the quality of the furniture. The manager stated it was the vendors fault and not the stores. No one seemed to care that my time was wasted not only from shopping to find the piece we really liked, but we quit looking for the last 2 weeks thinking we found our media center and moved on to our next project. Wasn’t given any apology by anyone and knowing this type of incident can happen with The room place and their vendors makes me never want to take my business there again.
A good place to do business at and get all of your household furniture needs met. The Sales Manager LJ Smith is truly Awesome with Customer Service and professional,helpful, courteous and a great personality in taking care of the customer that made my experience at The Room Place a really good one and explained everything step by step that made the process easyI would recommend furniture shopping at The Room Place. I am looking forward to enjoying my new furniture purchased.
Worst experience ever with a furniture store. Went there willing to spend a bit more money to get better quality as I got most of my furniture at Value City. Wanted a better experience. BAD DECISION. Returned pieces 3 times because damaged. Kept having to argue with customer service because paperwork was not being submitted to them by delivery people as to the damaged found. Tried sales rep but he completed ignore me. All he cared about was making the sale. Last resource was the store manager and he was complete disillusion as well. One of the pieces returned had expensive hair gadgets that my daughter forgot to take out. Stolen by their employees. I filed claim and all they sent back was hair accessories. THIEVES! Took 3 months to finally get a complete bedroom set for my daughter. Worst birthday present I could ever give her.
My mom went in last Saturday to get a mattress and adjustable base. The salesman, Kevin, was very helpful and not pushy. Helped her pick out a mattress, base, and a mattress cover. Set up delivery for the following Saturday. Delivery team was in contact thru text and then called 30 min before arriving. Set up was quick and efficient and they removed the old bedding. A great experience.
I have gone to the room place for 2 separate purchases in Joliet. A wonderful young lady has assisted my wife and I with some furniture that fits what we were looking for. Especially the power foundation it is everything she said it would be it has helped me get some great sleep. She is very knowledgeable about the furniture and if she doesnt have the answer she goes and gets it for you. Her name is Venessa Romero proud to say she is my daughter and now can add great knowledgeable sales person to her. So you can ask for her when you get there you will not be disappointed at all great shopping to all.
It was my first time buying furniture I thought the process was going to be a little overwhelming but it was such an easy process. The General Manager Michael Shanab was very helpful and answered all of our questions, he made the process go by quickly and smoothly. It was a great deal too. :)
General manager Durwin Arnold was a great help. Came in to the stores and he was very helpful and help a lot with my order that Home Place warehouse mess up they where very unorganized.. But Durwin did an amazing job ... Thank you so much to the home place store in Joliet ..,

When I first walked into the store, I was a little worried about employees not taking my future hubby and I seriously because were college students but Venessa was very professional and treated us with the respect we deserved. She found us a great deal! I was very happy leaving the store. I went to The RoomPlace in Joliet. I highly recommend this location, the people are so friendly & always willing to help.
They advertised 10-30٪ off for presidents day. Spent approximately 2 hours finding the exact item I wanted, only to be to by a manager that the item I choose wasnt included in the sale. There was a sale sign directly on the item I wanted! Not only was I disappointed, but I felt I was tricked with the old bait and switch. It is unlikely I will shop there again.
Talk about horrible service both at the store, and online. We were looking to purchase a bedroom set and mattress from The Room Place. We went to the store and had everything set to go. Salesman tries to sell me on a warranty (which I refused). He then tells me he can get it to me for free. Proceeds to charge me for the warranty and then removes the free delivery. After I catch him doing this he says he cant do the free delivery without purchase of the warranty plan. We left we were so upset about the dishonesty.My wife and I then decided to order online. Placed order online 1/7/2017 with earliest delivery available 2/3/2017. My wife takes off work for the furniture delivery and the day of the delivery they state that there was an internal system error and the furniture will not deliver today. Now earliest delivery is 2-3 weeks away. No notification given to us from The Room Place until the day of. This was a nightmare purchase from the beginning. We requested a refund and will be shopping elsewhere for our furniture and mattress.
My parents usually hate going to furniture stores usually because they get a pushy salesman and dont really understand salesman terminology. I was unable to accompany them due to working long hrs in the summer. So they decided to go without me just to check it out. They went to the Room Place in Joliet and Vanessa R was the salesperson they dealt with. They were so pleased when they got home and raved on how through she was and in the end helped them with their purchase and find the right choice. I want to thank the store for one having Vanessa working for them and two having a good price! Thanks!
This has got to be the absolute worst experience I have had with a furniture store.! I purchased of 9000.00 worth of furniture for a new home. Upon delivery my kind size bed was sagging in the middle. I called the store whom gave me the run around. Finally they had a man come out take pictures of what was wrong with the bed and nothing was ever done. Now a its been 15 months and my head board where the side rails go into the bed broke and I called the extended warranty that I paid over 600.00 for and they tell me that because it is not accidental they cant fix it. To call the store. I call the store and they say that its been over a year. I will NEVER purchase from Harlem furniture again and I am telling everyone I know to be aware as well. Over 4000.00 for furniture that they are refusing to fix.
This is/was the worst purchase experience of my life. What they have on display in the showroom is NOT what they deliver. My furniture was delivered Scuffed, and torn, was informed by the very rude delivery people that I had to take delivery the call customer service to get it taken care of. Thats when the troubles began (back in June 2015) and persists today. The store manager M. Ramos is liar, she has told me repeatedly that the replacements cushion would be delivered in 5 days, then 7 days.. When I call customer service they have no idea what I am talking about and the process starts over again.NEVER WILL I MAKE A PURCHASE FROM THE ROOM PLACE AGAIN.I will inform anyone I know who is looking for furniture to not even look in that store.VERY DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER!W. NEVER purchasing furniture from here again! We had a kitchen table put on layaway and obviously made payments on it until we moved into our home and all of a sudden it was on back order for 2 months! How is that possible when its on layaway? Then the manager wouldnt even give a discount or free delivery for the long inconvenience. Will be shopping elsewhere from now on
Michael Shanab and Vanassa were outstanding purchased living room set Friday night and had in our home Saturday morning drivers were amazing and very polite couldn’t ask for better service. We had a set ordered from bobs discount still waiting couldn’t give answer for our delivery needless to say canceled. Will be back to room place in Joliet.
Do yourself a favor and stay away!! Kitchen chairs fell apart after 2 years and insurance does everything they can do to not cover the problem..called the manager at the store and cant get any help.. update 7-1 getting the runaround when I call..promises of a call back in a few days and nothing..manager will call me back but hes never in..Ive bought a few thousand dollars of merchandise here and I guess they just dont really care..junk..
This place is totally unprofessional. I received my sofa set on time but the problem is the sofa makes a creaking sound as if the wood is not structurally sound. I immediately called customer service which inturn sent out a technician. The technician didnt find anything broken but stated that the sofa frame was weak and that he could not do anything about it unless it was broken. He proceeded to tell me I can complain to the office after they received his report to request a replacement. I called customer service and they told me that since it wasnt broken that Im stuck with it and they would not do anything about it. So screw the hard working middle class with furniture that they wont stand behind. If anyone reads thats please trust me and go elsewhere. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone not even an enemy.
After moving into our new home I decided I wanted new furniture, but I didnt want to be pressured or stressed into making outrageous decisions on choosing new furniture. We were welcomed by Venessa R. at the Joliet location and she was very knowledgeable about her products! She didnt pressure us into buying anything or didnt watch us like a hawk like most salesman due when they try to make sure they have your sale. Venessa made us feel comfortable, she spoke Spanish fluently, she answered our questions best to her knowledge, and she was very professional. I highly recommend this Roomplace Joliet location because she was awesome! Its hard to find good help like her!
I am very disappointed of how I was treated after twenty plus years as a loyal customer by the store manager ( Amjad Wazwaz) !!! when i filed my complain last week about a broken chair this manager was very rude I explained him that I had just spend a whole week with the insurance company going back and fort. I told him that the insurance company does not wants to fix or replace the broken chair and since they sold me the insurance I was expecting some kind of support from the store, he was just very rude!! he should learn from Micaela (the previous manager) on how to treat customers. I am not sure if he was having a bad day but I can see his frustration loosing all these customer going to the new furniture down street. all I can say is that you have just lost a loyal customer over a broken chair. IF ANYBODY DECIDES TO PURCHASE FURNITURE AT THIS STORE , DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY BUYING GURDIAN PROTECTION
Overpriced crappy furniture. No matter how expensive a piece you buy. Crappy installers. Delivered with defects theyll be taking and bringing back same piece until they get it right. Horrible customer service. Chair start getting loose right away. Shop somewhere else these people blow!
Apparently my last post was deleted. Avoid at all costs. Do not buy the warranty, it does no good. The people at the store arent terrible, its the customer service of wherever else we call. Bought 2 new coushions, that warranty didnt cover, said delivery would be 4-6 weeks. Called just recently, 5 weeks later for a status check, 3 different people told us different stories. One wasnt sure, one said they were out for delivery, and last, a supervisor said that they were just put on bavk order today. Oh, im sure they did. Order was in june, now deliver is scheduled for SEPT 30TH? Also took, demanding a supervisor just to talk to them, because apparently they dof not call back. Even if i they offerred me a whole living room set for $50, i wouldnt take the deal.
Its been more than 6 months already that i have been waiting for my livingroom , i dont understand why I wasnt told that it was gonna take a year to recieve it and i called and they said that i could go pick another one out and then what wait 6 more months. I am very disappointed!!!
Had a wonderful sales experience after that it was down hill my bed broke and we can no longer sleep in it now Im sleeping on my livingroom floor. Called the roomplace to see if they can relace it they referred us guardian the issue was never resolved and I still have a broken bed. I bought this furniture less then a year ago I will never go back to the roomplace.
Hi my name is Stefan and today we went to the RoomPlace at 2724 Plainfield Rd. Joliet, IL, 60435 to purchase an entire bed set, dresser, as well as a chest. Me and my family must say that the gentleman Michael Shanab that helped us today was one of the most phenomenal employees that we have had at this location. He helped us pick out everything that we wanted and helped us get our home renovation started. We will definitely be back to do more business at this location with Michael Shanab.

I tend to be a little difficult when I shop, or I dont know what I want. But Venessa Romero understood my vide instantly, and helped me blossom in my style. Now I have a beautiful interior that assists me in being the best I can be. LOVE it. Im very grateful of the amazing service I got. Her flair and her listening made it easy for me to make my own decisions.
We had started of by going to the one in Bloomingdale I believe. Thats where we met the store manager Mike. We moved the service that he gave us so once we found out he had moved to this location we headed that way. Sales representative are nice and arent pushing you to buy things.
Recently I visited the Room Place. All of the staff was super friendly and polite. Susana C, the lady that helped me out was very nice and helpful. She made me feel comfortable and she new exactly what i was looking for. I enjoyed my visit, thank you for giving me a great experience Susana looking forward to seeing you again
I will never ever buy another piece of furniture from this store again. When we bought our furniture we al bought the 5 year warranty if you dont use it they will not give you your money back you are forced to spend it at the store.forced I will never step in that store again.
After moving to IL we bought a dual recliner on 4/3/13...we called them 3 wks later to tell them that one seat cushion sagged on one side. They sent a technican and all he did was take a picture of the underneath and he said to us I understand what you mean by the seat sagging. Told us RoomPlace would call in 4 to 5 days. We waited 7 and I called and they said there was nothing wrong with the manufactured structure so they werent doing anything about it. NOW IM STUCK WITH A SEAT THAT SAG when you sit in it. Its like theres not enough stuffing in it and your bottom cheek sags in the seat on one side like youre leaning. I WOULDNT BUY DIRT FROM THEM EVER. Besides all this, we paid extra for a 5 yr. extended warranty...lot of good that did me.
Surjit is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sweet & helpful. He takes his time and make sure that you are satisfied. He goes above and beyond service!!! He really made me feel at home.. That man deserves a raise. Thank you sooooooo much!!! Mo was always sweet and caring! Thank you so much guys.
Worst place to buy from there return or exchange policy is the worst and delivery guys are very rude and left our home a mess. NEVER again will my family or I buy from room place. And there sale price are not good we just rushed into buying.never again from room place.
Venessa Romero was so helpful to me and my husband she listed to my ideas and was very knowledgeable about princesses and helped me bring my dream living room home she was so sweet, I have gone to others furniture store where I was ignored for about the first 20 min of me being there but Venessa was the first friendly face I saw as I walked in this was one of the best experiences I had shopping for furniture thanks to Venessa am highly recommend this Roomplace Joliet location. :)
Outstanding service by Fabian Lomeli, there was a problem with my account and was the only one that was really looking to fix the problem, the cashiers or i am not sure what is the job title of those girls were not really taking care of the problem and Fabian came to make some calls to other stores and fix the problem and plus he gave me a gift for the inconvenience, really a five star service, look for him in the store.

2022-03-03I purchased a sectional here and the date of availability was pushed back indefinitely. Its days of COVID, I get it. But if its unlikely something will become available, honesty wouldve served me better.The fact that I was only notified of pushbacks (multiple times) was when I called to confirm the pickup date was unacceptable. If furniture is going to continue to be pushed back, you should be honest so that customers can make informed decisions.I purchased a new house recently and receiving the couch from The Room Place in a timely manner was THE ONLY big purchase that was affected by supply chain issues.

2022-03-07I was wondering if you had an update? I have yet to hear from anyone about the issue.My wife purchased me a recliner as a birthday gift in August of 2020. In September of 2021 we noticed the material on the arms was starting to tear. I took pictures and and sent them to the customer service team after calling them to describe what the issue was. They gave me a name of another team member because the chair was 1 month out of the 1 year warranty. I emailed her and never heard back. I then emailed again with no response. The material of the chair (Leather) is paper thin and has torn in several places as seen in the pictures. The other issue was that a support piece in the back of the chair just snapped. I took the back off and the wood material that broke was a scrap piece of wood that was different that the other pieces so the issue was know when the chair was assembled. Sad that we spent over $600 and the chair is now not even being used as it was an embarrassment to have in the living room.

2021-11-08Do NOT waste your money here. Thought I’d upgrade to a nice reclining sectional last year. Within one week it was completely unusable because of the seats breaking. They tell me to pick out a replacement couch and the same exact issue happens. Customer service tells me different stories every time I talk to them. Now I’m allegedly getting a clearly broken couch “repaired”, which the service tech even admitted the couch. I am consistently fed lies by the customer service team and cannot find anyone willing to try to help. The last representative I talked to told me to “wait on hold for an email from the service company”.You’d be better off buying a cheap ikea couch because the quality is substantially better.

2022-04-14Our Sales Associate Marlease Wolfe was a breath of fresh air after going to multiple furniture stores today. She listened to what we needed and directed us to the perfect high quality couch for our family. I recommend The Room Place but you must ask for Marlease, you won’t regret it !Edited a year later….Still haven’t received my furniture and every month I call and they push delivery back another month. A YEAR for a couch… If Marlease is still there, she was still a great sales person but I won’t be purchasing from that company again.

2021-07-18We ordered a living room set back in November. The store said it would arrive in January because of COVID. Which of course we understood. January came around and they pushed back the date to February. February came around and they pushed the date back to March. Well I’m sure you know where I’m getting at. My husband would call constantly for updates on delivery date. And every time it was a different date. We even called to ask to buy the the floor model, but they told us they couldn’t sell it to us. Back in June one of the associates had called stating they had received a new set, and perhaps we’d like to get that one instead. We went in and to our surprise the floor model of the one we ordered had been sold! Even though my husband had just called to ask to purchase that one instead. I would think they would have kept us in mind when they decided to sell it but of course they didn’t. In June our delivery date was for August. My husband then receives a call last week that it will be in until November!!! Really? A year to receive furniture?!!!! Nonetheless we canceled our order (which honestly we should have done long ago!). We will not be doing business with them again. To be fair we have been more than patient waiting on our furniture, 8 months to be exact. I really want to know if there is anyone out there who waited a year to receive their order?

2021-09-25This has to be the most disorganized and incompetent furniture store I have ever done business with. I purchased a bunk bed package and was given delivery dates at the store. They have lied to me for two months about when different components would be delivered and at the end of it all it will take 4 deliveries (which I have to be home all day for) to deliver a bunk bed. The store manager is atrocious and should be fired for his complete lack of accountability. The guy flat out told me he doesn’t care about their customer service after sale. You would be much better off going to Ashley or another store in the area.

2022-02-22This is a update .We had posted a beautiful dining set that was marble with your choice of black or white chairs.There was a price of $888 on it ,well needless to say they have nearly doubled their price on that set.We also ordered a bedroom set & we had it set up for a November delivery which was 3 months from the time we ordered it.well November came & they told us it would be December. December became January. JANUARY became maybe in April .Then they told us they only had 1/2 of the bed & they werent for sure when the other 1/2 would come or if they could get it Well they lost our business.

2020-10-12I recently moved and purchased a bedroom set the first week of July and was supposed to have it delivered August 5th. My delivery date was then switched to the end of August. No big deal. My delivery date was changed again to middle of September. Then again to the end of September. Then again to October 21st. I was just told that my new tentative delivery date is December 1st. I have been extremely patient and reasonable but this is ridiculous! Do NOT get your furniture from here because you will be waiting at least half a year before you’re able to get it. The staff is unprofessional and no help at all. I have been there several times to try to speak with someone and come up with a solution and I have gotten nowhere even though I have been extremely inconvenienced.

2021-11-08Worst customer service ever. They lie and gave me the run around. They delivered my bed in incomplete pieces. Then I was told I would have wait a month to have the pieces delivered . I asked for a refund and the manager told me he processed the payment after waiting a whole week I had to call them to find out what’s going with my refund it was then I was told that the refund wasn’t even processed so now I’m going on ten days and still can’t get my money back. Disgusting and dishonorable service

2021-03-16Went into the Joliet store just to look around and encountered a sales lady named Marlease. She was a breath of fresh air! She greeted me with her gorgeous smile and made me feel comfortable in the store. When I am ready to make my purchase, I will definitely ask specifically for Marlease. Her customer service is top notch!
