Interesting place. Seems much bigger on the inside as you move from room to room. I visited with my daughter after we checked out the 100th Anniversary of the Little Traveler exhibit at the Geneva Historical society. The exterior of the building is in need of some TLC, such as new awnings and definitely a new paint job.
Great food with an amazing staff! One of the waiters has been there for many many many years and I can’t remember his name. But every time we go here we hope he waits on us he is very kind and most importantly attentive as a waiter.Food is also great👍 Very reasonably priced
Great gift shop with a lot of merchandise to choose from. Anything from wine, tea, shoes, purses, clothes, seasonal decorations or cat/dog lover presents...youll definitely find it here. The best part: they have the cutest little cafe to sit down with really delicious soups and sandwiches to take a break from shopping. Love it!!
Bad experience and poor management. Hugely disappointed with this store. I purchased a Christmas hanging lantern - full price - to hang outside. Got home. Read the instructions which said that hanging the lantern outside is not recommended. Returned directly to The Little Traveler to return it. Less than 2 hours from purchase. I was told that because this is a Christmas item that there are no returns. The only signage regarding Christmas items was if I had purchased an item on sale. The clerk said it is policy. There is no signage regarding a return policy on full-priced Christmas items. Management apparently isnt interested in keeping my patronage.
My daughter, who is 26 yrs old, and I stopped in here because we were unsure what type of place it was. We were downtown Geneva walking and shopping. We were so happy we stopped in this place. We were amazed by how big it was and all the multiple rooms and items they had to purchase. If you can not find something here then you are not a real shopper. They have everything from Christmas decorations to wine! We were in here for a long time just loving it! We ended up going into on area that had samples of different condiments and other items to try. They were delicious! I ended up buying some Farmhouse red relish and a bottle of pineapple wine. Im having a Luau at the end of July and will have these at that time. I think if u are in Geneva and you enjoy shopping this is a HAVE stop.
First time going there and each room has its own theme! There was a small like boutique, shoe store, Christmas store, candy store, candle shop, kitchen items cards and napkins it just went on and on. Then the restaurant theres a fountain in the middle of the room. It was nice. Our server had a wonderful sense of humor, very nice young man. I had Turkey sour dough panini which was very tasty.
Best family weekend trip out there. Granddaughter loved all the things to see and husband even spent an hour in the amazing garden area that has a wonderful selection of unique things for yard and garden. Good food and so many shops to see in Geneva. You got to go, everything is open.
What was once the draw to Geneva is now kind of sad. Cafe menu is in need of updating, and what is served wasnt very good. 70% of the merchandise is junk or looks like its been in the store for 20 years. Definitely need to give the buying job to someone new and update the decor.
I am wondering if they are going out of business? I have been going to the Little Traveler for 40 years. I was really disappointed with our trip today. We had lunch in the Atrium. It was dirty and in need of a desperate update. The waiter was ignorant to food allergies. He even said to me he had washed his hands before bringing the food out. Even my 10 year old asked shouldnt that be standard to wash your hands? Its too bad they didnt take advantage of the time closed and update the restaurant and bathrooms.Meanwhile the rest of the rooms were very empty. Everything was on clearance. The inventory looked outdated. They removed the Christmas trees and Deptarment 56 houses which were always a favorite.
INCREDIBLE place. In an old Victorian house. 18 rooms of things. Prices are high on some things, earthquake reasonable on others. Look for their clearance for great deals! Very narrow spaces so not really handicap friendly, be warned. Its a must go though!! Wonderful shop.
Shopped via your recent Facebook Live session with your 50% off Christmas Sale. You couldn’t be more accommodating! Everything worked like a charm and I was able to pick up my items with no problem! Got these two adorable gnomes whose noses light up. I love them and the price was perfect. I know this pandemic has been a hardship on a small business. Kudos to you for trying to make it work!
This place is actually not just a store, but a whole mall, with different kinds of stores inside huge old house.!You can literally get lost, in the good way, when you going through that old antique kind of house / mall. You can find anything you can imagine, there, from home goods, shoes , dresses, toys to garden supplies and decor, not mentioning a wonderful cafe right inside this place. You can find a wonderful gifts for any occasion there, plus greeting cards. Also you can treat yourself with something from European style cosmetics and creams shop, or wine , or candy, you name it..I could spend there a whole day probably, but usually at least couple hours and always happy with my findings.
I had the opportunity to do their brunch on a Sunday and it was fabulous. The servings were perfect, nothing too heavy. The complimentary cinnamon rolls were to DIE for. I loved it. The stores and boutiques within were welcoming and owners very kind. Lots to explore and find here! Worth a visit especially if youve never been!
This shop was just amazing. It is an old house turned into a montage of small boutiques. You go from room to room finding everything: household items, Christmas decorations, candles, clothing, jewelry and so much more. It has an adorable little tea room as well. I recommend coming here to everyone who likes to shop or browse. Had a lovely time. ❤☃️❄👢👒💍🧤🍷🍡🍬🍭☕
Such a fun place to take visiting guests. There are over 30 rooms, each with its own theme, so there is something for everyone. Staff are always pleasant and helpful. Dont forget to eat lunch in their sunny, indoor garden cafe. Wait staff is exceptional, food is fantastic and the cafe is decorated for seasons and holidays, so it is always changing. Also mark your calendar for their Festival of the Wine in September. Great, inexpensive way to try dozens of wines and staff holds your wine purchases as you shop inside.
Love this place. Lots of unique items. Perfect for decorating your home or gifts. Its like a small department store but all on one level and you feel like youre in a home. They have clothing, garden accessories, kitchen stuff, a place to eat, and much, much more. Staff is very nice.
So many little shops inside this sprawling house! You need all day to see all they have to offer. Some things are pricey but there are plenty of fun and/or useful things to buy: kitchen stuff, toys, lamps, clocks, food, clothes, shoes, jewelry...the list goes on and on! The cafe has tasty food and reasonably priced. All the employees are very friendly.
Such a cute store. We had lunch there during my most recent visit. The food was delicious and the ambience was cute and girly. The prices were great too. You can definitely get lost in this store, but it is so fun to see all the things they have to offer! My only issue is parking, I could not find a spot (even on the street) for a long time. I had to circle around a quite a few blocks to find one. So, prepare for that during peak hours of the day.
I had afternoon tea with a party of 10 yesterday. I knew about their tea service for a long time, but was afraid to go due to bad reviews citing rude servers. They must have been really old reviews! Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating! My friends were impressed with the ambiance and we all had a great time! The tea was bagged instead of loose-leaf, which might deter some, but I enjoyed it. (The brand was The Republic of Tea.) They kept coming back to make sure we had enough hot water and insisted we take as many tea bags as we liked. Instead of the standard 3-tier tray of finger foods, we were individually served our own plates of sandwiches, scones, and sweets. I thought this was unusual and didnt really like the sandwiches, but the sweets and jam all tasted like they came from their own food department! If youve shopped there, you know how delicious their baking mixes and spreads are!I plan to go again and again because the price is so affordable and the service is excellent. Just remember to make reservations for tea. (I didnt realize it was a regular cafe, so I hope to walk in one day to try their regular menu as well.)
So disappointed! Sisters and aunts and mothers all come from out of state to spend a day in Geneva. Unfortunately a blonde haired older woman was quite unfriendly and way too aggressive with the requirements for mask coverings (we had on but pulled beneath the nose b/c of asthma and it was 95 degrees and their little vintage home was warm) - she could’ve been kind about it but wanted to argue that it’s not a law but a store mandate- what fun! ... no matter we took our business elsewhere.Went to Country Naturals, Graham’s, The Patten House, Cocoon, Paper Merchant and Cali and Chance- all who were more than welcoming and we had a delightful day in this adorable town. Skip this place!
My friends and I absolutely love coming to the Little Traveler. The people who work there are so friendly and helpful. There are always unique items to choose from. The food in the Atrium Cafe is delicious. It is a fun filled day for sure. We joke that we should count how many times we say I love that! while we are there:) We usually end up being the last customers out the door before they close for the night.
This is always a girls day out destination at least once a year. The 36 room mansion houses a large variety of shops carry quality goods from cards and toys to fancy dresses and everything in between and their lunch room serves the most delicious sandwiches and quiches. Its even a great rainy day destination!
I just love going to The Little Traveler in Geneva, Illinois. It is one of Genevas gems. Whether one spends an hour or a few hours, it is a great way to spend the day. Its a very charming place. There are numerous little boutiques that one can shop in and have a sweet lunch in The Atrium Cafe. Its worth checking out.
A cute little store in what used to be a house. I was visiting my friend. I live in California. The store was amazing. Each room had different things in it. Loved the kitchen room and the Christmas room. I picked up a few great things. We even stopped at a little restaurant for brunch. Great food and an amazing price for brunch!!! Definitely stop by.
Had brunch at this place with my family this past weekend in an area called the atrium cafe. The service was very good, but the food is not in my opinion. The bacon was way overcooked. The potatoes were very dry and from a frozen bag. If youre just going in for tea or coffee, its not bad.
For nearly a hundred years, the Raftery mansion in downtown Geneva has drawn shoppers with exotic imports from around the world. In its heyday during the 1950s-1970s, shoppers could find unique treasures and then stop for tea. It was one of my grandmother’s favorite places to shop. However, the advent of the internet made accessible everything that’s inside this rambling maze of rooms packed full of trinkets and overpriced junk. Little Traveller is a tarnished memory of a bygone age, when travel across the oceans was exotic, expensive, and exclusive. Now we have eBay, so save yourself the trip.
So many wonderful shops in here. A lot of great stories of where the items come from. The staff inside is very knowledgeable and takes great pride in the shop. Usually always a good amount of people around on the weekends but not crowded per say. You can find gift for yourself or just about anyone here.
This place has everything classy, from housewares to wines to one of a kind clothing and accessories to an old fashioned candy shop plus a tea shop. Also, there are rooms with antiques, seasonal items like Christmas trees and garden accessories as well as linens, blankets, wall hangings, and chandeliers. I cannot stress how unusual or exquisite and expansive this place is. Every time I come here its a discovery. It is an ENORMOUS home converted to a shop, so get ready for lots of walking! So much fun. I forgot, they also have a cafe. Ive eaten there several times and items are well made.
Cute store filled with a hodgepodge of stuff. From clothing, to bedding and lamps, kitchen ware and lifestyle knickknacks like soap and moisturizer. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. The store is a little like a maze though, and its easy to get overwhelmed. It can also get pricey. Other than that, its a great shop!
Customer for over 20 years. Love this delightful collection of shops in one vintage house. Enjoyed many lunches there with friends and family. Always go home with something; be it a gourmet food item, greeting cards, jewelry, housewares, or a gift. An enjoyable destination for a fun afternoon.
Cutest little bunch of shops. I could walk around here for hours. I only wish they could make it stroller/wheelchair accessible. I cant take my child in here at all and I could imagine it being an absolute nightmare for anyone in a wheelchair. There are stairs/steps between every little shop.
Oh my goodness, what a TREASURE! You literally need the MAP they provide to get around. Theres a little bit of everything here, and I LOVED it. Whether buying for yourself or a gift, youre bound to find the perfect item. I went for a baptismal gown and ended up with many other purchases from this store!
Located in Geneva,IL., The Little Traveler is a wonderful shopping experience!! Its a must visit if youre in the Chicago suburbs. There is a variety of shopping that carries quality merchandise: Christmas Room, Wine/Kitchen/Candy area, Tea/Lunch room, clothes, purses, and jewelry area, a garden room, childrens shop, etc. Fantastic place!!!
Wonderful store with lots of shops inside. Hard to imagine going through the store and not finding something that makes you want to take it home. From tea, kitchen, household, food, books, wine, lighting, garden, gifts and apparel! Tons of items to see. And the cafe in the center is a great place for tea or lunch. Will be back for sure!
This is such a unique store that is set in an old house. Each room offers different types of items for sale, and there are products for every budget. It is easy to get lost, though, because the rooms connect in odd ways, and it can be cramped in some rooms. I always seem to miss a room or two on accident when I visit.
Very rude owner and managers!!!!!Let me start by saying that the woman who let us in said nothing as to how I wore my mask. Then this happened:I literally just left here with my husband. We both had masks on. I suffer from claustrophobia and anxiety and had mine on just barely beneath my nose, but still on. One woman ran to get the owner after I told her of my issues. The owner, after I told her, was VERY rude and harrassing about it. I told her I am prone to panic attacks if too high. She said its not her issue and it had to be pulled up all the way. Then, a third woman began harassing, yes, HARASSING.me about it.I do my part with covid. I have no problem wearing a mask. I have gotten used to it anxiety wise. But its not a cut and dry issue. Pritzkers order was to wear one UNLESS you have a health condition. Mental is just as valid. I was not being a diva and not wearing one, period. But everyone is different. I usually love this store and area but these people, very snobbish, I may add, treated me like a pariah. ALL customers should be treated with dignity and respect. All I received was judgment and harassment. I WILL NEVER COME BACK.
Just cant get enough of this store! They have everything, from really cute clothes, hand bags and accessories, home goods, luxury soaps and body products, Christmas shops and specialty foods and more!! Leave yourself plenty of time to really peruse all the fun stuff!!
The Little Traveler is adorable. They have a little bit of every kind of shop within one building. Sadly we didnt know it is only open till 5 p.m. so we only had about 35 minutes to shop. In that 35 minutes though I did find several things that I really liked and I purchased them. The staff was very friendly and kind even though we were almost the last customers in the store. My cousin has never been there I will definitely be bringing her back on a different day and much earlier in the day so we have more time to shop.
This place is definitely worth a visit. You will find something new everytime you go. I dont think I have been to every room in here yet, you have to spend a lot of time here to do it all in one stop. It does get busy and it is an older home, so pack light so you can squeeze through the crowds. Love how the older home was converted into this quaint, but large shop.
Such an amazing place. A huge house with over 30 different large rooms. Each room is a different store that sells different things. Anything from a candle store, card/stationary store, handmade quilts, pillows and curtians, a light fixture store, a garden store with accessories, fountians, fixtures and plants, purse stores, shoe store, kitchen gadget stores, spice stores, kids toy stores. Anything you can think of. Truly an awesome place
I think they make shopping very difficult and backwards and I understand why its just the up and down in the different rooms and then you got to go back through rooms that arent being used theyre doing the best they can thats all. It will be nice again and we can get back to normal.
My wife and mother-in-law always come here at Christmas and spend hours going through the place. Normally I would kick and scream about going with them but I know they have lots of delicious food samples! Their candy shop is amazing - all of my favorite brands from growing up in the 70s are there (as well as from all the other decades!). MEN - THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!
Yesterday I was out with my disabled nephew and my cousin in Geneva. We decided to go into little traveler. We followed the signs to find the handicap entrance and it led us up the ramp to an entrance that door led into the clothing store. We had to ring the bell to get in. The women who answered the door said they werent open yet. It was two minutes to ten and I had a nine year old in a wheelchair. So Im sure I looked aggravated but in my defense the lady was very rude. She finally agreed to let us in but told us to stand by the door so she could keep an eye on us. I couldnt believe she said that to two middle aged women and a nine year in a wheelchair. Needless to say I wont be spending my time and money there. ☹️
Me my wife and my friends .Stopped in to look around and this store is very very prejudice.I really hate to say it but if your skin color is a certain tone do not going to this place.I have to say with all the stores in Geneva this is the only place that made me my wife and my friends so uncomfortable it was not funny its a shame that we have a business like this in Geneva.I wanted to leave no stars But there was not an option for that
Love the Little Traveler.... very old Victorian house with many rooms. Each room has a different theme. Clothes. Shoes, Brighton, vera Bradley. Christmas Shop, Kitchen Shop, Candy Store, Flower Shop, nice lunch, breakfast. Fun place to go with your girlfriends. Highly recommend. Not to be missed if youre in Geneva.
The Little Traveller in Geneva, IL is known for its fine assortment of shopping. They also have a Juliet Day for 6 or more friends. Book with them ahead and they will treat you to a $20 coupon, dessert or drink at lunch, and a choice of fashion advice, wine tasting, or flower arranging. 10% of our purchases that day were donated to a charity of our choice. It was a very fun ladies day!
A very unique place that offers a very fun and unique shopping experience. the place is a little crazy and tight but youre bound to find something as a gift for someone. all in all a very cool place, 36 rooms with an amazing history filled with such a variety of items and kind workers
While I am not the typical buyer or visitor of this kind of shop (blame wife and mother in law), this place really has quite the selection and myriad of products. Also, (and surprisingly so) there lighting selection is definitely worth a look if shopping for fixtures, many unique and different designs/styles that youre missing out on if you only shop your local hardware stores. The staff is always friendly, and you can easily get lost in this store!
My wife has a breathing problem so she wore a mask, keeping her nose open. A lady representative told her that she has to cover nose and mouth. My wife told her lady at door did not say anything to her when we came into business. The lady left her post a snooty lady with grey piled up layered hair told my wife she has to pull mask covering nose. My wife told her of her condition, lady was indignant and indifferent saying its their policy. They lost 2 customers today
I personally am not and never will be part of the demographic that would shop here. That being said the 36 differrent rooms of home goods, womens clothing, jewelry, art, crafts, kids toys, wine, spices, candy, stationary, and all sorts of other odds and ends is impressive. If you are looking for a gift idea, and have no clue what to get, this is your place to go.
Little Traveler is one of many awsome places which has several stores within it. We found a sale at a fancy womens clothing store and we all found something nice and reasonable. This is our yearly sister get together. Out and about together enjoying the sites and each other. Even when it was drizzling. There is an awsome restaurant across the street in one of the alcoves to the right of the gift shop in the middle of small mall. Awsome chicken chilie and vegan menues. 👍💖👚👗💞🌂🍱🍜💖
Shop, eat, relax. Great little cafe, lots of Christmas decor, 2 rooms devoted to Dept. 56 towns and accessories, clothing, handbags, jewelry, Brighton, Vera Bradley, candy, baked goods, paper items, childrens clothing, Naot footwear, conservatory with floral and fairy garden, linens, kitchenware, makings for appetizers, wine, childrens toys and books, crystal and a Fair Trade room.
I am a professional musician and owner of Northside Brass. My brass quintet performed at the Little Traveler as part of their Christmas Walk and had an amazing experience. Not only were they professional and supportive of our performance, but had a packed-house for us to play in front of. The Little Traveler is supportive of local artists and musicians like myself, and also has a wonderful selection of unique gifts for all. I highly recommend them!

2021-08-22Wasnt sure what to expect when we stopped in here but was completely blown away at the vast number of rooms and variety of goods! You could spend hours here wandering the 36 rooms. They literally have it all from clothing, shoes, art, pet themed gifts, puzzles, Christmas ornaments and trees, Fair Trade items, home decor goods, etc. A great place to bring an out of town guest or do your Christmas shopping. Definitely plan to have Sunday brunch in the quaint cafe that is delicious and reasonably priced.

2022-05-05Best place to go to when you need a gift/present or just to treat yourself. Many rooms to browse through from food, kitchen items, jewelry, hats, clothes, linens, outdoor items and much more. They have a wonderful Cafe for a snack or lunch/brunch. You go once and you definitely will go again.

2022-04-24Was looking forward to shopping The Little Traveler after being there last summer. I was very disappointed in the delapidation thats occurred to the exterior of the building. Awnings ripped and hanging off windows, exterior in need of wood rot repair and paint+++Sad.Didnt walk the entire store, but did look like supply chain issues may be occurring here too as product offerings in certain areas seemed less than I recall.Hope they get work done soon so as not to jeopardize a beautiful piece of local history.

2019-10-17The Little Traveler is a fantastic place all wrapped up into a large multi-room, multi themed shopping and dining experience. We were in the area to enjoy a little Suburban shopping, and we found everything that we were looking for at the Little Traveler. The wall decorations and kitchen and home items were very reasonably priced and they had a huge selection. Their Garden area inside their Sun filled atrium, had a huge selection of fantastic lawn ornaments, Christmas decorations, and beautiful faux floral arrangements. The sales people in each area were friendly and accommodating. We ate at their small little cafe and our finger sandwiches were excellent and the vegetable soup was awesome. I give the little traveler store five stars.

2022-04-27Even as a child I have been an admirer of ‘The Little Traveler’. My Grandmother, who resided in Geneva, was an collector of fine European antiques and furniture who did business with the the Simons, one of the early owners of the Little Traveler.)• Interesting Note: The original owner of the house was a woman who collected items from Traveling all over the world. She eventually began to sell her beautifully curated treasures to her friends. Thusly ‘The Little Traveler’ was born.Sadly I am disappointed in the establishment in recent years. It seems to have lost much of the ambiance and quality of goods. It is a shame.

Great waiting staff who always makes sure you have what you need. I love walking around the different sections here, especially the Christmas section. Amazing place to take friends and relax! Love coming here!

2017-10-17Very very cool selection of items in the various stores.Service at the restaurant is very good, the coffee is nice and strong and the seating areas reminds us of Grandmas Arizona Room and her Atrium... unfortunately the food is not like Grams, in that its pretty bland.
