We bought an 18 foot pool from John. Everything was going well. Unfortunately, we had an equipment issue. After calling John, he quickly had a solution and came out the next morning to replace the faulty equipment. I need to add that it was raining and muddy but Johnhandled the problem.I cant recommend John and Great Escape Schaumburg enough. David Parmacek was the sales associate who took care of use. He was so helpful and really listened to what we wanted and directed use in the right direction. I was very impressed how clean and organized the store was too. Everyone seemed friendly and helpful. David is the store manager and he is doing a great job. I will definitely recommend this store to my family and friends.
I ordered a spa on July 1st with an estimated delivery date for the 1st week of September. I was told several weeks ago that my spa was in the warehouse ready to be delivered. I have called the Great Escape once a week trying to receive an update on my delivery. Each time I have been called, I was told that I will receive a call back from the person who sold me the spa and the warehouse for delivery. I have yet to receive that phone call. We ere entering the winter months and I would like the ability to fill the spa and make sure there are no issues before it freezes. I typically don’t go this route to get answers but I feel I am forced to do so.
Overall a good experience. The special 0% financing came with an additional fee for a basketball hoop even though it was well over the $1000 threshold. I opted not to finance because of this. It would be nice to know what items to qualify for this before trying to purchase.
I have been going to The Great Escape in Schaumburg for 19 years, and have been very happy with the professional service and how they also stand behind the products that they sell. They also have outside workers that they hook you up with to get things done. Today I needed my new heater installed and his name was Jody, he is awesome and did a GREAT JOB. Please ask for Jodys phone number at the Great Escape to do work on your pool.
I am new to the area and moved into a house with a pool and a spa that were both bought from Great Escape. The store staff took their time and walked me through how to use the tub and how to test the water. We were very unsure about the pool and the spa when we moved in, but Great Escape has made it very easy for us to understand how to care for them. We feel welcomed every time we stop. Love this place. Thanks guys!
Well first I call to get filter to hot tub talk to a nice fellow who look up old order to see if they had some said yes come on in when in and the gentleman at the counter could not have been so short with me like I was bothering him said I should go back home and get number off filter because it was so old so I did and got it delivered in two days from on-line thanks. Gave my rating they got back to me and asked if I could call store and talk to manager I did thay said he was busy will call me back still waiting
Highly recommend The Great Escape in Schaumburg! Great customer service in person and online. They helped us out in getting our pool this year and the communication throughout the whole process was amazing. Any other pool related items or outdoor items I may need in the future will always be purchased through The Great Escape.
Update: I recently visited a few times and have to change my review from 1 star to 4. Im not sure what happened but the staff is a lot more helpful and greeted me every time. Maybe some bad seeds were remove .Keep up the great workRecently moved to the area and was in need of suggestions on what to purchase. My wife was completely furious that no one offered to help and everyone was hanging out at the main desk. I was only approached regarding a hot tub purchase but was not provided help at all after mentioning i was new to pools and needed advice. the worker immediately uninterested to help or have any drive for a customer to purchase products from the store. Seems that everyone checked out from this place. The lack of enthusiasm or customer service is unreal. The only benefit is some prices. In regard to being greeted upon entry that did not happen at all. Why would any store ignore the fact that 1. im new to pools and need advice. 2. your have a clear sale to make as your recommend products. 3. greeting is completely worthless if you dont follow up with a did you need help with anything.Id rather drive to american sale and spend the time and gas for real help.
Thrilled! From the second we walked into the store, John went over everything we didnt even know to ask about a Hot Tub. He spent so much time with us, even after we made it clear were just looking..may not even buy. Well, we ended up buying and we are beyond happy with not only John and the staff at the Great Escape, but Samantha in Spa Scheduling and everyone who came to haul away our old tub and put in our new tub, they were amazing! GREAT EXPERIENCE all around. Well be back again when were ready to purchase out patio set! Thank you Team!!!

They have always given great advice on how to service my hot tub and swimming pool (they came with our new house and we werent prepared) - everything from the filters needed, the chemicals and how often to use them, how to care for the hot tub/pool (with handouts even after they walked me through the process) and how to open and close them for the season. When I had an algae bloom in the pool they tested the water for free and told me I had high phosphorous and recommended the chemicals to treat and prevent the bloom. If I didnt have time to walk around the store, I could call ahead of time and have it ready for me to pick it up at the front. Very nice, poliet, and informative.
Older gentleman was so rude and not helpful at all! Seemed more as if we were bothering him by asking a question. Terrible customer service. Sent us to pick up heavy gallons of chlorine to bring to the counter. Once at the counter the cashier informed us that we didn’t have to bring them to the counter. We could have paid for them and someone could have taken them to our vehicle. Would’ve been good to know...
I have been to this store probably 10 times and I have yet to be greeted or asked if I needed any help!!! Salesmen couldn’t be any ruder. If you do ask for help or ask a question they are short in their response or make you feel dumb for asking it! After their continued rudeness today , I left and ordered what I was looking for on Amazon.
I just called in to get pricing on certain items that were in the store Brian picked up the phone he was super knowledgeable in the items that I was asking about gave me all the knowledge that I needed and amazing price is definitely definitely amazing prices compared to the other pool stores. Give this man a raise or his own store to run he definitely knows what he’s doing these last sentences are for management to read I’m going to be coming in shortly to purchase what I need before I head out to my customer in Schaumburg thank you so much Brian I appreciate all your help
Amazing, walked around the store for 20 minutes looking at lawn furniture without ever being greeted or asked if I needed help. 3 sales people sat around talking to each other and playing on the computer while ignoring me, the only customer in the store. I was very interested in buying some furniture, but not if they are too busy screwing off to do their jobs. No thanks!
I bought a pool from Dan at the great escape in the spring, well it has been nothing but a head ache.The delivery guy dropped and kicked boxes, I took video of it.The ladder was missing the parts that keep it from floating up, after going to the store and Dan looking in other boxes said they are all missing this and he would order this and get back to us.Well now it is fall, my motor is making a winning noise, still no part for the ladder, and went in to get the winter cover that was told was part of the package I bought, and Dan who was eating chips, said no you have to buy that,I think this store needs to have a better more caring person running it, I left there and will never step foot in there again, I will go on the inter net and pay more .
Mindys husband Jeff writing this: Ive bought my replacement filter, pump, skimmer components, etc., all from the Great Escape over the last several years. Every year theres something else little needed. Its nice knowing theyll have everything I could possibly need, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable, considering its pool stuff. I once went to Leslies in a pinch, before they closed, because they were closer. It was a little thing, but was $18 (later found out it was $4 at Great Escape.)Im heading in with a terribly cloudy water sample a week past pool opening when they open today. Hoping they can advise what to do (or whether to give up, drain and refill 16,000+ gallons - ugh.) Will report back later, if I remember to. :D
Just had a $1400 gas fire pit delivered. Invoices states Delivery w/installation and Designer Patio Installation IncludedTotally misled by Great Escape. There is no installation; just put the shell together and left. I understand that for liability purposes a delivery man cannot hook up a propane tank However, advise the customer prior to the purchase. Totally misleading . Ive purchased from Great Escape before; never had an issue. Now, Ill be shopping on Amazon.
TL:DR2 wks turns into 4.5 month replacement part fiasco. No updates. Inane shipping restriction. Never again.We needed to replace slings on chairs we purchased from Great Escape several years ago, so I went back to the location we bought from.Apparenly only 1 person there can assist with patio furniture. Between trying to find the person who could help me, waiting for her to be available, then waiting again while she attempted to land a sale, it took more than an hour to submit the order for 4 new slings. No problem. Get them in 2 weeks.Apparently the store I went to cant actually complete that kind of order, so it got routed to Downers Grove. Who, after 2 weeks, told me it would be at least 4 more weeks.8 weeks later its not clear where the order is or when I will get the slings. Ive been told theres only one person who can tell me and she does not work on Thursdays.And when (if) the slings do show up, I have to drive an hour each way back to the Schaumburg store because they are not allowed to send the slings to my house. Even though I did have to pay a shipping fee to have them sent to the Downers Grover store who then will forward them to the Schaumburg store holding area.After 4.5 months the slings arrived at one store, got sent to a different store, and I had to drive an hour to pick them up. Contrary to they posted here, the slings were not dropped off at my house.
I was in a few weeks ago and a sales guy quoted me $2400 for an outdoor sectional. When I called a few weeks later, he said he messed up and that the price was $2800. Finally I went in yesterday, and a new sales associate told me I dont know what that guy was talking about and quoted me $500 higher still! Is it bait and switch? Laziness? Either way it certainly didnt seem like they cared about the error, doesnt feel right considering how much money I was prepared to spend.
I went to have my pool water tested told the young lady I dont use chlorine. She asked me chlorine questions told her again those questions dont apply to me. She tells me well I cant tell you whats wrong cuz I only know about chlorine. WHAT??I use aqua silk and she tells me what is that. Two guys that were behind the counter walked away. Then she tells me give her s few minutes to find someone who does. I walked out.Second encounter needed a pool filter. Took my purchases to the counter two guys behind counter. One guy looks at me, I look back be just stands there. I said I am ready to check out he just stands there.If I didnt need this filter I wood have walked out again. SCHAUMBURG is a horrible store on Irving park road. Wish Leslies never closed. Ppl were young but they knew their pool info.
Im discouraged. We decided to splurge and buy high end (to us) patio furniture because we wanted it to be sturdy, last forever, and really love it. We picked a set that had a 7 year guarantee. Weve had it for 2 summers and it has never been exposed to the elements (we have a covered patio). In May, I was sitting on a chair and the slat in the bottom broke off. I am 51 and 120 pounds. We contacted the Great Escape. I wont go through every bit of this but weve had countless phone calls with no follow-up. The staff is relatively polite with each encounter but then nothing happens! It is nearing the end of August and our chair is still not fixed. Chicago weather is finally beautiful, our patio is like an oasis, and one person in our immediate family has not had a chair ALL SUMMER!This purchase is seriously the worst $1200 that I have ever spent, any $35 chair would have lasted longer. I checked the return policy because at this point, I wish I could get rid of the entire set and start over.Their return policy is un-used in original packaging within 30 daysI guess I am spoiled by the Costco return policy but I would NEVER shop the Great Escape again. I prefer companies that guarantee and follow through. I dont see a long a fruitful life for this company. I give it 3 more years, tops. People want, expect, deserve, and can get a much better experience elsewhere.
I am a black woman middle age. People at the desk saw me walk in, the store was empty yet no one offered to assist me. So I walked around the store but didnt see what I wanted. I then went to the counter to ask for some assistance. Now after asking I did receive and the woman the gentleman ask to assist was quite nice and helpful
I have shopped there for years bought several different items including a pool and spa and have always gone back to buy my chemicals and to get advice on water chemistry issues. I have read the other reviews on this and i dont understand what happened to them ???? Staff is very friendly and will help you with all your needs
Bought a saber grill from mike ,,he talked me into the stainless steel version for a few bucks more..glad i listened to him,,,the grill is beautiful,,the service was impeccable and mike answered every question i had..i would recommend seeing mike ..he is very knowledgeable about all their products
Terrible customer service!! Employees have extremely bad attitude towards customers and each other! I provided this store with my phone number on three separate occasions, to receive more information about a couple of their products. One would think, I would get a call back however I never did. I will NEVER step foot in this store again!

2022-05-29If I could give this store & staff 10 stars I would in a heart beat. My family and I went into the store 3 times before purchasing our pool because we werent sure of the size we wanted. Each time we went back Brian N. Helped us out and was awesome, he answered all our questions, gave us ideas about the pool sizes, had a lot of patience with all my questions about the credit card & the installation. I called the store a few times after that with questions and he never seemed bothered to help me out. The pool liner was never delivered, so the store manager Tim went out of his way & personally delivered it to my house while I was at work the day before installation. I had an issue with the installation company & had to call the store & speak to the store manager Tim again. After the damage the installation company caused Tim was soo quick to fix the issue on a store level, had amazing customer service, always called me back & even reached out to the installation company. As I mentioned Tim went out of his way and fixed the issue on a store level, he went above & beyond customer service. Today my pool liner started leaking and once again Tim to the rescue. He reached out to the installation company, and is trying his best to get the liner fixed as soon as possible. My pool journey has been stressful, but customers service at the great escape Schaumburg location is making this process as easy as possible for me. Brian is a great sales person, was never pushy to get a sale out of me, Tim is a great store manager & is soooo good with customer service & is always helping & makinging sure customers are taken care of on his end. I will continue to go there & buy all my pool supplies as well. 100% best store experience.

2022-06-14I recently bought a sand filtration system from here and I’ll tell you something, these guys know what they are doing. I came in there and asked for what I needed and they helped me out and explained everything I needed to know to operate and get my pool back to good looking conditions

2022-06-11We just went in to make a large purchase - pool, sauna, hot tub, gazebo, & patio. We were not greeted, i asked for some pool information, I was pointed to the pools, & completely shrugged off. We walked out. The older raspy man doesn’t need to work with the public.

2021-09-28I thought my sales person Brian was very knowledgeable and helpful. He always got back to me and tried to help me with some ideas on how to get my permit with my village. Brian also reached out to the manufacturer of my product to get me additional information as well as delivery times. I definitely would go back. Nice guy and the store manager, Tim, was awesome. He was able to get in contact with the installers to get me a date and time for the delivery, and was able to expedite.

2021-04-21Working with Great Escape Schaumburg was a five star experience. Our sales person, Tim Fitzgerald was excellent. He was very knowledgeable on the specifics of each tub and how they best related to our specific needs. I really appreciated the thoroughness of the approach. We were given the opportunity to wet test every tub. He gave us space to enjoy the experience, but checked in enough to make sure our questions were answered. Sales process was a breeze with a small refundable deposit. The entire process couldnt have been more painless. My wife and I walked out of the store confident that we made the right purchase with the right store. Thanks Tim and Great Escape! We cant wait to get our new hot tub!

2021-05-03This show room felt a little closer to home. We had been searching outdoor patio furniture for quite some time and have been to almost every store in the area. The other Patio Furniture stores seemed to be WAY over price, but the big box stores seems to have cheaper sets, but compromised on the quality of the furniture. We were sooooooo happy to find the perfect set that was within budget and made in the USA. Garrett was a lot of help and was full of knowledge which sealed the deal for us. We didnt feel like we were being sold to, but more or less was just offering some friendly advice. Long story short, we walked in very frustrated and walked out of the store super happy! 20 year warranty on our patio furniture says a lot about the quality the GreatEscape stands behind.
