Strawberry Fields Cafe in other cities:
I had a mixed experience of this place. It was suggested by one of my colleagues, and since it was so close to my new place in Urbana, I tried it one weekend. The chicken kabab sandwich was amazing. And they have a lot of items to choose from. The gentleman at the counter explained everything so nicely. I was determined to go back and try everything eventually. So the 3/5 is an average of the 5/5 for this experience, and 1/5 for the next one below. The next experience was terrible. They were about to close at 8, it was 7.50. I had helped someone move earlier and was really hungry. I entered and asked if they were open, the person at the counter said they were, took my order. After the transaction went through and I left a tip, the boss (a different person) said they will close and cannot make food. Which was still okay with me, but then this chap was not able to reverse the credit card transaction. However he paid me cash after 10 mins of futile attempts.I did give this place another shot. And the falafel sandwich was good. So Ill probably go in and check their other stuff out sometime later. Remember to ask clearly before you order any sandwiches.
Honestly, the grocery section is a little too pricey for me, but I love their yogurt selection. Also, the prepared food is wonderful and competitively priced. So far I have had their cupcakes and a brownie from their bakery, and I just went to their cafe/deli for dinner and got delicious chicken and rice for $5. I will gladly pay $5 dollars for a filling dinner that I do not have to cook. I am a huge fan of the co-op, but I think I can also find the time to become a regular at this place.
The food was OK. Ive been multiple times and the meals Ive received each time are nothing like what the pictures showed or the descriptions described. So as long as youre not expecting to get what you ordered, its not bad. Also, the signage does not accurately reflect the times they serve meals.
This is a nice middle eastern restaurant in Urbana. There is an attached store, which sells items from middle east and India. The restaurant owner is very helpful in explaining about food items. Tried California burger wrap and it is delicious. Also their nut noughts are excellent treats.
My boyfriend and I came in to get some food from their salads/cold section in hopes of finding some tasty treats. What we ended up with was flavorless hummus, super dry falafel and a rude woman taking care of us. The tabbouleh could have been better but was alright. The dressing served with it was too sour. When I got home I just used some olive oil and salt and it was fine.I hope to return to eat lunch there and maybe my experience will by better.
We started off the Great Heatwave of 2013 right here. The line is long but moves fast with many people behind the counter who know what theyre doing. The guy who helped me seemed genuinely excited that we were about to have ice cream cones. Id trolly hate life and all people after scooping for a line like this one but the workers there seem to be really happy. In fact, this might be the only place in 95 degree IL where everyone is happy on both sides of the counter. Wish they had frozen yogurt but thatch just because Im lame. The ice cream is, because it is ice cream, wonderful.
I bought organic grapes and was very disappointed to find out that they were NOT ORGANIC at all but freshly soaked in herbicides/pesticides. I grew up in the vineyards and there is no easier task than telling this difference. Many yogurts that are found in other usual grocery stores are much cheaper than they are in Strawberry fields.

2021-08-26As I am new in town, I have noticed this place while I was walking to downtown Urbana. I decide to give it a try so I ordered kuffa with stewed potato, okra and mushroom ravioli. Everything was delicious, especially the smoky kuffa. A full lunch for only $7 after tax. Will definitely come back.

2022-05-14I came here on the spur of a moment looking for a smoothie—and I am so glad I did! I ended up trying their falafel wrap and *wow.* Perfect falafel, creamy tahini, and the addition of cucumber and tomatoes to add variety—and all for a reasonable price! I will certainly be back!

2020-09-11Fantastic coffee shop with a fun breakfast and lunch selection as well as some tasty bakery items. The international market attached is incredible with an amazing selection of imported foods. Pasta, cheese, sauce and bread are delicious. Owner is incredibly nice and helpful. Took the time to help me build a gift basket of assorted goods for my mothers birthday. Definitely will continue to go back. Five stars.

2021-04-14The owners have done a fabulous job in maintaining ethnic food supply in a college town like Champaign. They provide a small deli and always cater to people with food sensitivities. If you want to grab some fresh juice and a quick healthy snack this is a place to be.

2021-09-22Went in for lunch. We waved to employees. Looked at the posted menu. No one came out of the back room after ringing the bell. We left after 5 minutes. WTH!??? Went to Black Dog Smoke and Ale for lunch!

2021-10-17Extremely dishonest seller. Keeps expired meat products(over a year) in refrigerators, and sells them as halal. When confronted, argues that printed date is wrong. Yesterday, he was calling everyone in mosque to buy food with the sale proceeds meant to be donated to mosque. I got food poisoned from that semicooked stuff!
