I have been working with James for a few years now and he has done wonders for my hair! Gives fabulous hair cuts and tremendous color and highlights! He knows his trade well and uses only the best organic and least toxic products in his salon. I highly recommend Star Vibes Salon!
I have been jumping from stylist to stylist the first 27 years of my life. I was referred to Jim by a friend and I can say I will be going to see him until he stops cutting hair or I move out of the state. Heres why:I dont have to stress about what to do with my hair. He takes one look and knows what to do. He casts the vision, gives me an amazing haircut and guides me on what to do outside the salon to keep it looking good until next time.He is passionate and knowledgeable. He stays current with whats trendy but also puts his own Star Vibes to your haircut.I always leave feeling great. He has infectiously positive energy and is sincere.Jim is the man!
James is the absolute best !!! Went to see him once when looking to find a new hair person, I was super impressed !! I’ve gone back 4 times since and will continue to go to him to get my hair done ! He always does exactly what I want and I always leave feeling like a 100 bucks ! Definitely highly recommend ! Awesome hair stylist with great prices !
James has transformed my hair from previous stylists that over processed my hair. What I like the best is he totally educates you on the chemical process and how it affects our hair. My scalp use to itch and burn after highlights and touchups but his products have never affected my scalp. My hair is now healthy and soft. I trusted him so much that I went to him as the mother of the groom....and you know that your hair needs to be perfect on the day your son gets martied. It was perfect.
There are not many hairstylists that I would say do whatever you want, especially on the first appointment. Not only did the cut and color come out beautiful, he hydrated my dry, damaged healthcare worker hair. I have to wash it a lot to get all of the rona out after every shift. Hes also super entertaining. Thanks Jim!
James if Star Vibes Salon gave me hands down the BEST experience I have ever had out of any hair salon I have been too EVER. I will be a customer for life after having had my hair turned into something I never thought could look so beautiful!
He’s so awesome and friendly. I was so nervous because I haven’t had anything done to my hair in a very long time . But I’m so happy with my haircut and the color! Highly recommend him!
If your vibe is a rollup, James can do it! If its unicorn hair hes the man. Problems with a bad color job from another salon, he can fix it, may take a few visits though, its not magic! Been seeing him for 6 yrs, I like the natural look and no one would guess I have a full head of silver hair ;) because its an awesome, warm black. Everyone looks happy walking out, guys cuts, kids, I even had my 95 yr old mother getting her hair done here. Nice guy, knows his art :)
James (owner of salon) was one hour late for our appointment. When finally showed up looked high and smelled like weed. When he was coloring my hair my sculp was burned and my hair looked nothing like what I asked for. When I confronted him he verbally insulted me and threatened me. This place is a joke. Dont waist your time or money.

2021-10-28Star Vibes? More like Bad Vibes. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE — I AM WARNING YOU. James will ruin your hair. This was the worst hair experience of my life. I should’ve gotten a refund because I left looking ten times worse than when I came in, but I didn’t bother asking for one because I was so afraid of him. He’s very weird and he wants to talk about inappropriate and uncomfortable conversations, and he was high the whole time. I had balayage already and just needed my roots updated. I wanted blended balayage but he gave me chunky highlights. He quickly and sloppily threw a few streaks of bleach on the top of my head, but then he toned all of my hair with this god awful toner. The bottom of my hair was already a perfect blonde color and the top just needed to be matched to it. But instead the top stayed orange and yellow and then the bottom was a purple/gray tone! Then he tried to sell me the toner!!!!!! What?! No thank you!!!!!! Not to mention, it was the worst haircut I have ever gotten. Was he blindly cutting? I get better haircuts at great clips!!!!!! I looked like a clown!!!! I can’t believe he let me leave like that and he said I looked amazing. I’ve been scared for months to write this review because I’m scared of him. I was horrified by this experience and had to spend $300 at another salon to get it fixed. Please don’t go here I’m begging you.

2020-11-28James made getting my hair done a joyful and fun experience. His level of precision and perfection is phenomenal and he really took the time to make sure I was satisfied with my color. He walked me through the whole process and addressed any concerns or questions I had in a very professional manner. James’ expertise in the field is marginally higher than any other salon I’ve been to. For the first time in my life, I feel truly happy with my color and hair! Very reasonably priced as well. 10000% recommend going to Star Vibes.

2021-02-04Wow there is nothing but good things to say about Star Vibes. The most important at the end of the day: phenomenal haircut. Every place I’ve gone to needs a picture and a novel on how the hair should be cut and they still can’t get it right. Jim just needed a brief description and nailed it! It’s like he reads minds! The experience is also amazing, in a cool studio. Normally I dread appointments after work, but my appointment this evening had me excited to chill out there. Thanks Jim!

2021-02-06James did an amazing job with my hair. Super knowledgeable and made it so easy to get amazing results! He has a great personality too, making the experience very fun! I went in with a Groupon for a highlights but ended up really needing an overall color to achieve the desired result. There was an upcharge for the extrs color, but he was upfront about it and I was thrilled with the result!

2019-06-26James at Star Vibes has been my stylist for several years. In fact, I tell him that if I move he has to move too. When I first moved back to the area I tried a variety of salons. They were fine. Then I saw “organic” and thought I bet it will be expensive. But I tried it once, the hair color didn’t set my scalp on fire and the price was comparable to what I had been paying elsewhere. That was hook one. Then there’s James. When I first started going he would ask how I wanted my hair. My response was always the same, “I don’t care. It just needs to look good slept on.” Most stylists can’t handle this seemingly lack of direction. They don’t have the training or confidence to get to know me and make a decision based on what will look best for my face shape and what will work best for my lifestyle and occupation. James is the consummate professional and I always leave looking my best. With my busy life there are times I have washed my air and let it air dry on the way to work. I felt guilty receiving compliments but someone in my office commented that it was because of the great cut. Thanks James, you made my life easier!

2019-06-25I have been seeing James for years now, gosh it has to be 7 years already.Let me start that I’m super picky with who does my color!!!!! And have had my hair damaged by many. James always does a great job.I couldn’t see myself letting anyone touch my hair.I’m also the one who calls last minute because I looked in the mirror and said “ I need my hair done” he has never failed to make a spot available. The organic product are amazing, I’m plant based vegan so that super important to me.His place is amazing, clean, comfy, and very welcoming feeling!!!Star Vibes Organic Salon is the placeI can’t say enough!!!5⭐️

2019-06-22I came to Jim by accident years ago crying for help after a different stylist in a different salon ruined my hair. Through the years - he has done it all for me - I had an organic perm when my hair were long - and it was amazing - no frizz, no broken hair. I went super short eventually - and the cut was superb. I work in corporate environment- and going really short was risky for me - but Jim did an amazing style. I get highlights in various colors on a regular basis - and my hair is always the color I want, never burnt, and super silky. He never pushes products on you - but if you do ask him for something - all the stuff he sells is awesome - and lasts a really long time.He charges very reasonably, always available on shot notice in odd hours (I work downtown and a single mom - so need MUCH flexibility). And he is a very pleasant person to be around.I will never ever go anywhere else again. And my boys - including moody teenager, love him and how he does their hair too.

2019-06-17I had a cut and color done by James last week and couldnt be happier with the result! I had an idea of what I wanted going in, but he used his expertise and it turned out even better. The salon was clean and had a very relaxed vibe. He was a lot of fun and we had good conversation. It was also VERY reasonably priced 👍.
