St Vincent Thrift Store in other cities:
Management changed recently and now the prices are absolutely outrageous. $20 for a thermos. Stop pretending to be Target, its a place where people drop off junk; there is absolutely NO reason why the prices on EVERYTHING needs to be so high. I used to come here every week. I will never return.
Ive visited this St. Vincent Thrift store on several occasions. Ive been to their other stores too. But I like this one in Will County better. If you dig very deep there are some deals to be found in this store. This store has lots n lots of vintage everything!!!! Theres lots of older clothing too!!! Some of the items tend to be just a little bit worn out. But I say it depends on what youre really are looking for and if its there that day. Then Its a Good find!!! Ive found them to be just a little bit pricey on some items. But a lot of their non- essential things/dishware are 99cents They tend to have a lot of bric a brock merchandise n other interesting pieces in the back of the store.I been able to find out their Senior days are arranged for Thursdays for older individuals. And I generally use my discounts every chance I get$$$$
I recently moved to Joliet and Its been rough and I heard this helps out people in need. There I met GG she was amazing I told her I needed some help and they were amazing with me. They are very kind and hard working people, They have been a blessing in my life! Thank you St Vincent!
St. Vincents is a cute little thrift shop. I found a pair of jeans and a few light blankets for my little dog there, and only spent $10 on them. I was quite happy with my purchase. The shop is neat, clean, and tidy, and the employees are all friendly. My sole complaint is that their air conditioning either doesnt work or flat-out doesnt exist. It is *really* bloody hot in there!
Meh.. only thing I like to check out here is the strange mix of everything in the back of the store. The clothes are a no go. They have great prices.. and sales all the time. Goes to a good cause.. I hope. Because this is where I like to donate to.. to avoid good will!
Im not one to write negative reviews but under these circumstances Im a little bitter towards the staff and the policies at St. Vincents Thrift Store. I had purchased a coat of which I did not wear or use and before the purchase I had asked of the return policies in preparation that the item I had purchased may not work for me. I was informed it was a 2 DAY RETURN POLICY!!! Upon returning to the store for a return I was informed that return policy only applies to electronics. The salesman(Maxwell) had incorrectly informed me of the policies in which he was there at the time of the return also(EVEN CONFIMING HIS STATEMENTS!!!) A manager gave me a BS condescending answer that the cash register only works one way and that I had misunderstood the policies even though his associate even confirmed he had wrongfully informed me! IF I HAD BEEN INFORMED CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THE ITEM!!! I understand the not for profit donation center thrift store profits go to a good cause thing but darn it if you cant stand by the customers contributing to your cause. I wont be supporting the business or its affiliations in the future store credit or not.
New staff is completely out of their minds with the prices on stuff. Winter coats 35 dollars? Vinyl LPs as high as 40 dollars? Ice skates 30 dollars? For a second I thought I was in some hip metrosexual Chicago thrift store, but no Im in Joliet. Suggestion: Lower your prices and you wont have 300 junk and broken oil paintings, and so much furniture clutter you may be able to walk around the store

2022-06-12I’m very upset at the management of this location. I used to LOVE shopping here. 2-3 years ago, I could actually find items worth buying and enjoyed talking with the workers. However, recently they seem to be under new management. This management has chosen to price items for 3x what they are worth. It is RIDICULOUS. The man at the register was not only acting strangely but he overcharged me. There was an entire rack of the same t-shirt… however he decided the prices at the register regardless of what the tag said. WHY is one t-shirt priced at $5? Don’t bother SCAM SCAM SCAM

2022-06-29I love this store! Bought brand new set of king size sheets. And a red heart mini waffle maker. Love everything. They have a huge assortment of crafts now. Papers too.

2022-06-13There are some very unique finds in this store.I thought the clothing was priced very high for very used clothes. My thought was I mine as well buy retail.Lots n lots of various furniture, dishes lamps, cds,and dvds.Very organized and very friendly checkout!ALERT: As I was shopping a smoke detector kept CHIRPING ( indicating a battery was needed or the unit was malfunctioning). Not good for business 🤔 or for their own protection.

2022-05-26Scammer alter! Rude and abusive staff. They tried to sell a boxed exercise equipment that was filled with junk weight. I immediately returned the item only to be accused of not checking the contents before purchase. This gentleman was very rude and confrontational. We had to fight and make fraud claims to get our $5 refund. Very rude and unprofessional people. I will never patronize this location again! Buyer beware

2022-01-22I was shocked at the prices! All shirt minimum 9.99. It was insanely priced. Then shirts they consider name brand were 14-16$. Trust me, your better off going to the Goodwill. Thank me later

2022-02-16The SVdP mission statement is about helping one another, the less fortunate etc. How can USED goods priced SO incredibly high be any use to anyone you claim to want to help? I’m considered middle class and I cannot afford these prices. How could someone who’s jobless or homeless afford to shop at your store? They can’t. The prices are RIDICULOUS!! Whoever is in charge of pricing the items here is certifiably insane. $14.99 for a pair of used Kmart store brand jean shorts? $12.99 for used shoes? $5.99-$7.99 each for BABY CLOTHES? Why? What is the purpose? I’ve stopped in just to kill time in between doctor’s appointments and there are items still sitting here that were here MONTHS ago. I guess they don’t mind not making sales. You are FAILING your goal and your community by pricing your used goods at retail prices. Corporate American greed wins again.

2022-04-26The cashier was ridiculouly rude, and gave me no time when it says they close at 8 online, they really start kicking people out at 7:30. Not even mentioning how overpriced everything was, and it smelled weird.

2022-01-06Very expensive. I would pick literally any other thrift store in the area. Used Abercrombie dress, size XS for $16.99. Retailed like $50 max. Used Michael Kors shoes for $19.99. Peeling shoes for $10.Haven’t been much since the start of the pandemic but stopped in and they have new sale tags, a membership card the employees don’t know what the points / rewards are (I asked two different ones two separate times) - something is definitely different with them.Got an incredible chair here before for $15 about a year ago. Now I’ll probably no longer stop in. If shirts were $2-3, dresses $4-5, shoes $5-6 max, I could spend $100 easily here. Bummer.

2021-11-17This place has gone down hill fast. I used to find a lot of great items here for good prices. Unfortunately their prices have skyrocketed on decent items, and they now sell most of the nice donations they receive on eBay. This leaves a lot of junk in the store for people of the local community to buy, who they are supposed to be supporting.

2021-10-04Prices are way too high. I shop at several different thrift stores. This used to be one of my favorites, not anymore. The clothing is so packed onto the racks which makes it impossible to look at anything. Please have a sale each week to increase the turn over of clothing. Get rid of all the summer clothing in a sale to make room for the winter clothing. This management staff is ridiculous in their pricing and their turn around. Have a sale, for Petes sake! You collect it all for free anyway!
