I just had my first haircut and style at Sojourn Salon. I couldnt be any happier!!! Brandon did an amazing job delivering the haircut and style I was looking for. It was a dramatic change and I love it!
Morgan was very friendly and easy to talk to. I could tell she really paid attention to my hair type and lifestyle when suggesting a style and color. I still definitely be in to see her again.

I had the absolute best experience here at sojourn with Philip. Not only is he an enjoyable person to be around, but he is EXCELLENT at what he does! Never once have I ever left a hair salon with a smile and confidence like I did last night. The salon is gorgeous, the hair washing was extremely relaxing as well!!! I was SO scared and nervous to cut my hair due to bad experiences in the past, but he made me feel comfortable and excited. I trusted his expertise and needless to say, for once in my life I feel sexy and beautiful. I can’t thank him enough! Everyone at this salon is extremely welcoming and kind. I will never go to another salon. This is it for me. I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone and everyone in need of hair care! If I could rate more than 5 stars I absolutely would. I have been going to Phil for about 3 years or so, maybe more, and I have never had a negative experience. Between Phil being an absolutely amazing professional who is great at his job, and the super friendly staff (S/O to Angel) I could not think of going anywhere else. My daughter also sees Emily who is just as great! I have recommended this salon to anyone and everyone.

I love this salon! The owner seems like a great guy. The entire staff is friendly, helpful, and seems to genuinely enjoy working there. I saw Brandon for the first time recently after my previous stylist switched careers and I’m extremely impressed. I left with exactly the haircut I was imagining and he taught me how to properly blow dry my hair. My hair looks so much better now! He’s friendly, funny, and likes to take his time. I was super nervous going to a new salon and stylist but felt super confident when I met my stylist Philip. Very welcoming and knowledgeable. All the employees had a positive attitude & really took the time to listen to my concerns and needs. I would recommend this salon to anyone! I dont trust people styling my hair, so when I say I walked out feeling super confident in the quality of Sojourn Salon I mean it.

Shaun Galbreath is the best stylist I have ever had. He takes his time to cut my hair so it looks fantastic each and every time. His eye for styling hair is perfection. My husband even began to use him for his haircuts because he was that impressed. The salon does a wonderful job keeping everything clean and safe. Finding Shaun is the best thing I have done for myself in years!
I got an amazing haircut from Brandon today. He was funny, incredibly knowledgeable about the products he used, and he took the time to listen to what I wanted for my haircut. Brandon gave me great tops along the way about how I can more efficiently style my own hair! If I could give him more than 5 stars, I would.Everyone I spoke to see this salon was wonderful. I’ve been here a few times and I Love booking with Brandon! He’s Very funny and knowledgeable, plus my hair looks so good! I didn’t book for a consult but I got one anyways, and I’m so happy I did. Had to book again for my color, but I’m glad we took the time to go through what I wanted and make sure the maintenance schedule was something I wanted to commit to. Emily was so sweet and very friendly. She did an amazing job on my brows and should I say more or less gave me brows. 😁. She asked me if I was comfortable and was so gentle waxing. I’ve been putting off doing my hair for months due to Covid. I’m also admittedly not great about scheduling hair appointments in the first place, but I’ve been even more hesitant to schedule an appointment now. I felt so comfortable at the salon. I felt like Emily and Brandon really took the time with me to make sure they knew exactly what I wanted. They were also great at communicating with one another, to make sure everybody was on the same page. Brandon was even nice enough to take the time to explain the difference between textured and layered to me, which I’ve never had a hairstylist do before only to discover that what I really wanted was textured hair and not layered hair. Emily was so great, she took a ton of time explaining all the different ways they were able to color my hair and the benefits of each. And I also appreciated the overall precautions taken by the salon to make everyone feel safe during this pandemic. They are still currently not using any blow dryers, which was totally fine with me and I thought a great way to make everything extra safe. Even without the blow drying, I still felt pampered and like I was getting a great service. I am very excited to come back pandemic or no pandemic.

Brandon is an excellent stylist and always knows exactly what I want/need when it comes to my hair, whether it’s a bold or subtle change. I really appreciate how he explains what product he uses and why, along with providing recommendations on products that I can take home. He sold me on three today! Though the product line may be on the pricier side compared to what you’ll get at the store, it’s Certified B Corporation and sooooo worth it. With his recommendations, I don’t feel bad about splurging. I 100% recommend Brandon to anyone and everyone :) .

I’ve never been before today and it was easily the best decision I made. Emily was my stylist and she helped me figure out what would look good on me. When going to other salons I would always be told that layers was the only thing that would help with the thickness of my hair. She finally offered a different solution and my hair feels so much lighter! I will be going back to her always even though I live over an hour away.

I was dyed and styled by Hannah, it was a big and long job but she did an amazing job, she walked me through the whole process and was super friendly and attentive. The end result was even better than anything I could have imagined. I went from super dark brown to a beautiful vibrant blue. I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience than what I received with Hannah.

He explains thoroughly about all the different options for your hair, especially if you ever get stuck on not knowing what to do with it. I am so amazed by the hair coloring magic that Shaun has done. I originally was really impressed by Shaun’s cutting skills a couple months ago. Shaun really takes the time to listen to you. This visit Shaun took it to a whole new level. I saw some amazing hair color on TV and asked if it could be replicated. Shaunmade it happen! I am in love with my Starfire/Phoenix hair. I highly recommend Shaun for any and all hair things. I’ve even recommended my mom go and see him.
Philip always gives me a phenomenal haircut. Even after letting my pixie cut grow for over 3 months while on quarantine it still looked great. However, I am delighted to have it short again! So glad that you guys are able to see clients safety again.

My daughter is getting married in Yorkville and found Sojourn Salon for our wedding day hair. We both came for a trial appointment. My appointment was with Monica. She really listened to what I wanted and delivered. I couldnt be happier with the look she created. My daughter had her hair done by Phil. He was equally impressive, very attentive to her vision for her special day. My only complaint is that I live in Gurnee and cant switch salons! I would love to have Monica as my stylist, highly recommend. Also, I would like to add that the salon is beautiful, very clean and welcoming. Knowing that our hair will be beautiful is one less stress for her day.

I really love everything about this place. Its easy to book online, the staff really welcomes you, the stylist I had (Brandon) took time to fix a bad haircut with care and precision, and I walked out more educated about my hair type. The salon is easy to find, beautiful, and clean and the lot has ample parking. I was surprised by a neck and shoulder massage with my wash and cut too. If you want to feel pampered Sojourn is the best way to do it!

Great Salon! Ive had haircuts from two different stylists there and always come out feeling like a million dollars! They are taking extra safety precautions now too (No washing/blow-dry), which is smart on their part.

I had an amazing experience at Sojourn Salon. I have not been back to a hair salon for two years. I always dreaded the awkward silence or small talks during the process. However, this was my first time at Sojourn Salon and they did not give me any of that vibe. I have grown my hair out for 2 years and before I had it cut it was about 20+” long. I have been thinking about cutting and donating it for months but finally decided to do it a couple days before New Years! Sojourn Salon works with Wigs for Kids, so they helped donated about 16” of my hair. When I first arrived, the receptionist kindly took my jacket and handed me nice glass of water. My hair stylist Shaun was amazing! He made the whole process very smooth and fun! We made lots of interesting conversation and he made me feel very comfortable and confident with my new hair. He gave me a nice wash and massage after cutting 16” off. He was also very helpful giving me tips on how to give my hair volume and some color tips if I was interested to have color in the future. At the end, he even curled my hair for a nice finish touch to see how it would look curled. I would highly recommend Sojourn Salon and would definitely come very soon!
I love getting my hair done by Emily! She has colored my hair and cut it on multiple occasions and I always LOVE her work! She’s also amazing to talk with every time I am in the salon.
I had the great fortune of getting a walk in appt with Shawn. After a consultation we agreed on what route to take with my short hairstyle. He did a fantastic job listening and using his skills and knowledge to find the perfect cut for my lifestyle. I love the haircut and will now start making appointments with him as a regular!

Sojourn Salon delivers a high quality salon experience without the inflated prices found at some places. I have been going to Sojourn Salon now for 3 years and I have always had a great experience. I see Monica for my hair color and Sean for my hair cut and style. Monica does an amazing job with my hair color and Sean always leaves my hair looking fantastic. They are very friendly and helpful with my style needs. The front desk staff also has great customer service and text and email remembers are very helpful. The atmosphere is very welcoming. I would definitely recommend the salon and Sean and Monica.
Love love love this gorgeous salon! I’ve been coming to Sojourn Salon for almost two years now. When I first walked in my hair was really long (Past the mid of my back). I’ve been wanting to get my hair cut really short, more of a pixie cut, but I wasn’t comfortable going to just anyone. One of my girlfriends had cut her hair short and I loved it! I asked her where she go it done and she told me Kelly at Sojourn Salon. Kelly killed it! I love my hair short. She never hesitates when I say I want to do something funky and different. We work really well together and she makes me feel comfortable and confident. I have had so many compliments on my hair since I’ve been seeing Kelly. She rocks!The salon as a whole is beautiful. It’s always clean and inviting. The receptionist are super friendly. There is a ton of space, so you don’t feel like the other guests and stylists are on top of each other. I used to hate, at other salons, when your conversations with you stylist would be interrupted by the station next to you. This never happens at Sojourn Salon. It’s very professional and up to date. Also, the products they use are unique and original.I constantly recommend people to go to Sojourn Salon. Such a great salon to get your hair done. We came in as a walk-in and they made enough time to fit us in. Pleasant, clean and friendly enviroment. Shaun was our stylist and was 100% beyond understanding and amazing. Definitely going back. 100% would recommend for all ages. Love how exotic/creative the stylist are. Above and beyond great!!!

I enjoyed a great morning at the salon. All of the staff was so willing to give information and help on how best to style your hair, which products to use, and why. I dont feel like Ive ever learn as much as I have in a salon experience as in this one. The product selection is amazing with products that you can trust the ingredients in and the quality. Went in today with a really bad hair dye another salon did and asked if they could fix it and of course they said yes. Shaun listened to what I wanted done and he also gave a great idea to what I could also do with my hair and I said he could do it. He fixed my hair and the color came out really nice. He did an amazing job on it and I’m so glad I came across this salon. I would recommend Shaun he listens to what you want done and he’s really helpful. If I could give it more then 5 stars I would. Kelly is the best! I have very unruly curly hair and she makes it look gorgeous curly AND straight. Im 50 and have never had anyone be able to do that. She is a master and that is a rare gift! I love Kelly and highly recommend her!
I have seen Devin twice for highlights, haircut and keeping up a small chunk of my hair a fun color (pink, purple, whatever mood Im in). She is really easy to talk to, does a great job with my hair and really spends time understanding what Im trying to accomplish before starting so that were on the same page. I really love the salon - it is relaxing, inviting and easy to pass a few hours in (I have a lot of hair). I also love the iPads with magazines on them - super easy to catch up on lots of reading while Im there!

Shaun is amazing. His talent and knowledge is flawless. Even if I dont know exactly what I want, he is able to help use his vision to create a cut and color I love. I leave the salon everytime loving my hair and entire experience with Shaun!

Monica just couldnt be nicer! Always gives her 110% to the entire appointment. Color and style is always glamorous and glowing! The front desk staff is so kind and patient! The owner even after hours is so responsive through email if needed, just couldnt get better attention or service. I would never go anywhere else!

I love this place! I get my hair cut and colored by both Amanda and Kelly, and I they are both wonderful! My 12 yr old daughter sees Kelly and my 8 yr old son sees Sean. They are great with the kids. All the staff is very kind and helpful.
My go to hair salon was in Chicago. We moved to North Aurora less than a year ago and after so many months of searching, I finally came across Sojourn. I initially communicated solely thru Yelp and the owner (Philip) was amazingly responsive which I truly appreciated. After a week or two of communicating with them, I finally was able to come in for a cut and another day for color. Devin cut my hair and Monica did color. Both ladies were so professional and informative and I just loved the experience overall. I am still going thru the process from brunette to ash blonde and Monica was so helpful and explained the whole process before everything got started. She explained that it will likely take several sessions to do this and kept making sure Im okay with it. I am currently pregnant and she took full consideration of this by taking a much gentler approach. Although I believe that she would have been the same way with any client regardless. I appreciate the care that is being put towards my hair during this process. Im coming back in 4-weeks, as Monica recommended, to get that ash blonde Im going for.Overall, I enjoyed everything about the salon, all the services (neck massage and head/massage was may super favorite) and not to forget their little nook completely equipped with studio lighting for the perfect, well-lit, shot of your before and after. I am so glad I have found Sojourn. I highly, HIGHLY, recommend them. You will not regret it!
Do yourself a favor... visit Sojourn Salon! The atmosphere is fantastic, and the service is exemplary. My experience was flawless from the moment I walked in the door until the moment I left. A friendly greeting at the reception desk, a hand shake and introduction from one of the owners, a relaxing head, neck and shoulder massage before my hair cleanse, an extraordinary haircut from Philip... what a treat! I will definitely be back.

Recently moved to the area and decided to try out Sojourn Salon for an overdue haircut and balayage. I booked both appointments with Emily and cannot recommend her enough! She was very thorough, made sure I was completely happy with everything, and even took the time to show me some styling tips. Everyone was wearing a mask, and Sojourn Salon did a great job of social distancing and sanitizing equipment between clients. Will definitely be coming back!
I got my color done with Monica and she more then exceeded my expectations. I came in with really outgrown brassy blonde hair and she took so much time delivering what I had asked for. I will 100% be back in to see her!

2022-02-23Kelly consistently does a great job, I was so relieved to have found her several years ago. The salon itself is great too, not a stuffy atmosphere, relaxing vibe. Whenever I can’t see Kelly due to scheduling conflicts, every other stylist has been great too. I never leave reviews but having had consistently great service from everyone over a period of years, I’m confident in recommending them to anyone. They use an awesome line of products too !!

2022-07-07Posting on my friend’s Google so I can leave a review. Paid $55 plus tip for a root touch up. This is my root one week after my hair was done at this salon. Wish I could get a refund. Basically lit my money on fire. Upsetting. Looks like it did when I walked in.

2022-07-07Sojourn and Brandon are awesome! Ive been going there for a few years and Brandons worked with me on achieving what I wanted over that time. He is good at explaining and making recommendations for hairstyling and care, and takes the time to listen and understand concerns or questions. Probably the first time I felt comfortable with my wavy hair has been since coming to Sojourn. Hes also a delight to converse with and an enjoyable person which always makes the experience better. 2022-07-15The place itself is amazing definitely upscale vibes gorgeous my hair stylist Jessica did amazing as always on my daughter texture hair, this was the first time I let her dye her hair and omg !!! End results unbelievable. Also want to give a huge shout out to Arianna amazing receptionist and Joselin and Morgan who are also hairstylist. Highly recommend this place every one makes you feel so welcome.
