SEPHORA in other cities:
Booked a full face for my birthday 2 weeks in advance and the day of my appointment they couldnt accommodate me at all due to not having an artist and mysteriously my vanishing reservation. I even called the store to confirm my reservation days before and I was told I was all set. Spoke with the manager several times and all she could offer was for me to pick out my own makeup products and I can do my own makeup there MYSELF. What a joke. Fortunately Michelle at the water tower location saved the day and was available to service me! Amazing artist.
The store was extremely clean and the staff was extremely friendly! I kept trying to reserve a gift online and every time I did I would get a confirmation but it would never save. I called the store and the associate I spoke with was super nice and did me a huge favor and held one of the few last ones for be behind the checkout register for me. She was super nice for doing that. The only regret I have is not taking down her name.
I found the staff to be very professional. I thought their measures to protect customers from covid were outstanding. I had tons of makeup questions and the staff was very patient and helpful with me. Their answers were very thorough and they really helped me to make a purchase suited to my needs. Would definitely recommend!
Lovely experience. They had you sanitized bags when you walk in, everyone has a smile on their face. You arent able to test any products the people do it for you and show it on their skin. They are really knowledgeable. They helped me learn how to shape my brows and put on fake eyelashes. (Since thats all the makeup we need nowadays)
Just stopped in to pick up a lipstick, and the experience felt very safe and near normal. An associate offered hand sanitizer and advised on new procedure regarding sampling product. The store was spotless! When checking out, Paola reminded me that I could still my birthday gift (my birthday was in March), and threw in a few more samples as well.
A lot of the workers here are insanely rude and unhelpful. I waited 15 mins to speak to someone and get product advice just to be rushed and speed talked to and not being allowed to ask any questions. How are you going to not let me test anything and not even help me to get advice on products. They have no product knowledge and the only nice one was this one lady who was slightly pregnant. She was an absolute doll and other workers should take NOTE. If it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t have made my purchases and supported this store. State street Sephora is far more filled with kind workers, eager to help, smart, and won’t be rude, they deserve your business. :
Sales Associate pretty knowledgeable and some of them actually have on Fabulous Makeup! And, most of them are passionate about what they do! Cosmetics💄 is a personal thing and can only help to enhance you so you want people who sell Cosmetics, Skin Care and Fragrance to be knowledgeable, Up On The Latest Trends, know who the Beauty Gurus/Celebrity Makeup people are cause some of them actually really have excellent products!
Sephora is a dishonest company and will not hesitate to cheat customers.Nothing against this specific location, but I’ve recently had two terrible customer service experiences with the company. I am a Rouge level rewards member and have spent a lot of money in Sephora over the years. I recently was able to cash in points for one of the elusive $100 Bazaar Rewards that are almost never available and even more difficult to snatch up before they sell out. The expiration of the reward was clearly printed in black and white as April 29, 2021. (This just happened yesterday which is why I am still fuming.)I attempted to make an online purchase yesterday to use the reward. When I entered my promo code, however, the website rejected it with an error message: “This code has already expired.” I called customer service to inquire, and the response I got was that “the reward must be used within 90 days of redemption”, and that April 29 was day 91. I asked, if this was the case, why the PRINTED expiration date was not stated as April 28th. Any reward/coupon/sale/etc I have EVER participated in states the “expiration date” as the final date of redemption, including on that date. The customer service representative I spoke to then tried to backpedal saying that I should have “interpreted the expiration date as needing to be used by the day before the printed date”. What a load of ****. I then stated that expiration dates are not open to “interpretation” when they are objectively printed on a voucher, and that if this is Sephora’s practice it seems to me that the company is intentionally trying to steal points (and thereby money) from its clientele. At this point I requested to be transferred to a supervisor who was equally unhelpful. The best they were “able” to do was submit a REQUEST that *is not guaranteed* to reimburse points back to my account - but they absolutely would not even attempt to honor the reward.Terrible customer service. Sephora is an expensive place to shop and there are plenty of alternative places to purchase the same products, which is where I will be taking my business in the future. I’m absolutely disgusted.
Friendly staff (that really went out of their way to help me!) Tim was the main one helping me find what I needed. He was knowledgeable, kind, and very patient! The store is clean and organized nicely! I love the set up but really can’t stress how wonderful the staff was, they weren’t judgmental or snobby which makes a huge difference in the overall shopping trip! Will be back 💗
I have been in many Sephoras and this one was nice for two reasons:1) the staff was readily available and very helpful2) even though it was crazy busy on a weekend sale time the store was clean and didnt have to wait in line for checkout.I occasionally like going to this location as they offer some products not regularly available in most stores as well as some services only available here. I like taking advantage of everything in one place!
I love shopping here during slow periods. Tried great new products and help was readily available when needed but I had space to explore. I found a great new product for moisture retention while weeding out buying products that wouldve been a waste of time and money buying.
This is one of the locations where I find the staff to be the least helpful. My first time shopping there ended with me purchasing a wrong product as a sales person handed got a bronzer instead of the powder. I had to exchange it at the different store. Granted, the first time me shopping there the store was extremely busy. It was not the case the second time me shopping there, I saw plenty of pretty idle salespeople around. They didnt seem to have sincere interest in helping me or perhaps were not trained well enough how to engage with customers.
The girl who helped me was so so helpful and listened to exactly what I needed and what I came in looking for. Nothing more and nothing less. I had my furbaby with me and she also loved the experience and left with a tasty treat of her own given to her by the most amazingly sweet girl who checked me out!
If I could give this store 0 stars I would. I am an avid Sephora shopper, I have Rouge status and this was the worst experience Ive ever had. I could barely swatch anything without someone coming over every 20 seconds. LITERALLY 20 SECONDS. Ended up walking out without even buying what I came for. Management definitely needs a refresh. Also I feel like I should not know more than the people working there. Shout out to the super nice girl at the cash wrap. She was great!
I highly recommend Bobby for finding correctors, concealers, and foundation. My skin shades differ quite a bit because of the summer sun as well as my hyperpigmentation and freckles. She really knows colors (and pointed out casting) and asked a lot of questions to provide insight and options for how I wanted to match.
Fabulous flagship store, this store is large and beautiful. There is a nice area where they conduct classes that are excellent and free for Beauty Insiders (free to join). The staff are very helpful and Ive always had several within view and available to assist shoppers when Ive been in the store. Very knowledgeable makeup artists, many transferred in from other locations as this is a special store.
I went in to test the new Fenty Beauty releases. The store didnt have much stock of the Flypencil Eyeliners to purchase. They did have testers available at the Fenty area for the Flypencil Eyeliners, but they were missing one! There was supposed to be 20 of the colors, but they only had 19. Maybe someone stole it? But, I did try a few of the ones they had available. The reason why this isnt 4 or 5 stars is because I am not good at applying makeup and dont know much about skin care or products that would compliment my skin tone. None of the ladies there paid any attention to me or offered to help me apply the makeup or gave me advice on which shade I should try. The thing is that I went as soon as it opened, so there werent any other customers there, but there was like 6 workers there. Like, really? None of them could take their time with me? You may say, why didnt you just schedule an appointment for a makeup facial? The upsetting part about that too is that they didnt have any makeup appointments listed on the website. This store needs to get it together and pay attention to each of their customers needs.
The skin care assistant was very nice. She had patience with me and advised me the exact things I needed. The make up stuff was very rude to me. A girl started my Mimi makeover. She picked the opposite thing of what I asked and the color was wrong. Then there comes a guy with other products and tells me that the mini make over lasts 15 min. Meaning I have to hurry up. But they found me wrong stuff, I was unsatisfied. Then another guy comes, tries another foundation on half of my skin, I still didnt like it. He left a yellow spot from the previous foundation right on my forehead. When I tell him that, he says yes, there is a little yellow spot from the previous foundation but the rest fits you good. I was attended by 4 staff members and none could find what I need, I had to chose myself. They made me uncomfortable and tried to kick out. Very bad experience Sephora!
Big place to visit with a lot of options, offering for both men and woman products. Big selection and friendly staff. If they dont have it they will order for you. Also you may try the products with the help of the staff. Long line but moved quickly. Had to wait for some time to get assistance since a lot of people were there.
For the busiest Sephora Ive ever been in, this was also the most helpful! Everyone was super polite. Bobby spent a lot of time with me and it was SO fun to talk to her and try out some foundations. She gave me two samples of moisturizer and gave me a ton of tips for making sure my skin is in the best shape for foundation. She was so nice and never impatient. I also asked to have my eye makeup done and I cant remember the girls name that did my eye mini, but she was so so so sweet too. Everyone I talked to was super nice. I wish I lived close enough to go here all the time! I wish the cast members at my local Sephora were this nice!
I got a black eye from one of the staff member who tried to apply gently some concealer in my under eye area. It was very frustrating because I stopped to the Sephora while attending a conference, I looked so ridiculous during my speech... I knew she was pushing too hard because my eye globe was hurting so much while she blending the concealer with her pad. I should have told her. It was obvious she had a bad day but still.... The only positive thing is that the right eye was only slightly swollen.
I was visiting from out of town and popped in for a quick brow sesh. This store is massive compared to the Sephora locations back home, and the beauty advisors were very helpful/accommodating. The product selection is unbelievably vast and I just loved everything about this store. I wish all Sephora’s were like this one.
Its HUGE and it has free classes u can register for online! Its kind of the way I imagine heaven. Service is hit or miss but overall the good experiences outweigh the bad. Ask if Liz is working (idk if she still has blue hair, but shes awesome and knows her stuff. And shes just a cool person all around. She took outstanding care of me)
As expected because of the popular location, this Sephora is usually very crowded but in the evenings it’s actually less crowded than an average Sephora in my experience. This locational also has a bigger and better selection than the River North location. Friendly and helpful staff.
I took a class for the first time which was the no make make up with AAron and Jen K they were so amazing and gave me so much information also it was the first time some one was able to find the right shade for me!! I love the class so much so informative and they made sure we were aware we’ll inform as they explained every detail.Would definitely come back to have a class with back th of them when I’m back in Chicago.
Im a huge fan of Sephora but trust me this location is by far my least favorite because two days ago I simply wanted advice on which Retinol A product they recommend and hyaluronic acid and the sales representative here couldnt give me enough choices. It appears they do carry one brand of hyaluronic acid by peter Roth that I purchased and actually use but note Sephora doesnt carry Spa Quality grade products like a strong form of retinol A but I know one of the women here kind enough who took me to the side and suggested that Blue Mercury another store in the gold coast does actually carry a broader variety of products. The staff here also never offers me samples upon check out and I forget to ask even though Im a rouge member spending well over $1000 each year. Honestly whats the purpose of being rogue if everyone here is never available to help you with makeovers? I have to remember to ask for samples from the customer service reps and this whole weekend was a huge store wide sale but they ran out of their 100 point complementary samples and none was offered as a result. They are so busy here they just get you in and out so you feel rushed in and out. Also some of the girls who work here overlook you and honestly I havent been offered a makeover from anyone here at this particular location because they are too busy selling products and getting you to make your purchases and leave. I guess I may as well order online because at least you get samples and zero attitude.
This Sephora was awesome! I walked in freaking out because I got to my conference with no makeup bag AND I had a wedding I was in right after the conference. Malina saved my life! She found my perfect foundation color match (which btw she actually found a better color for me than the one I had at home). The setting powder she recommended is also waaay better than the one I was using. When you go in find her. She is the best!
Some really prejudice employees here. Came in and was completely ignored verbally but was immediately followed and watched the whole time. Stood in a corner to wait for friends to finish shopping and watched the employees greet and say goodbye to EVERYONE. Really sad that Sephora hires people like this and allows it. Not angry just wish things werent like this.
This store is litterally disgusting. Ive been in a few times since december and i think i will stick to ordering online. For a big store you would think they have people there to clean and make the testers look decent. I never try anything when i go in because its either so empty people are digging into the very end of the lipstick where the plastic is or its so empty it looks like some licked it clean. The employees are great its just disgusting looking. I cant believe people shop here. I almost had an asthma attack after picking up a box that had so much dust on it i could write clean me on it. Its sad that testers are always empty in both the skincare and color departments like how do u expect me to try that new lipstick when i can clearly see the plastic or it looks like some dropped the tester it rolled around on the floor for a few mins and then they just put it back. I feel like when i shop at other stores i dont nearly die from inhaling all the dust. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ they need to figure out their life cause ive been to better looking stores in cali and new york that look way better and are bigger. The employees are great but if the product looks like a fur ball is growing on it i dont want them to even put that stuff on me.
I had an unpleasant experience with Jaz (one of the make up artists at this location) as I felt rushed the entire session. She would not use the colors I requested and she would not trim my false lashes and when I would point out these things she would tell me that she has no time left for that! I frequently have make overs done at Sephora (different location) and that one was absolutely ridiculous. It is her job to make sure that she uses her time wisely. Two stars because I did not leave before I got my final look the way I wanted it! (after so many unnecessary discussions).
I make it a point to visit Sephora at every city. Like most big city Sephora store this one is also very big with lits of people. What I liked most about this store was there were so many staff to attend to.As for collection there are always so many choices at Sephora, always love to shop there.
Huge Sephora with lots of makeup counters for product demos and makeup classes, but also lots of people here and long lines. This is one of the few Sephora that seems to carry almost everything they sell online. However, they are often out of stock on products. You may want to consider ordering online if you need something quickly (and want samples as part of your order). If you want any help, you will have to flag down a salesperson yourself, since despite the large staff here, there never appears to be anyone available no matter when you go.
I love Sephora, but I had a sub-par experience at this location on Saturday. I went in to buy some hair products because Igot an email saying it was 20% off for VIB Rouge members that day (woohoo!). I picked out my products, with the help of some really great associates on the sales floor. I then had a negative experience at the register. The associate asked me for my VIB card to scan (does anyone actually keep this in their wallet?). So I said, can I give you my phone number instead? To which she responded, what is it? With sass. Then she said Thanks for being a Rouge member with us, your total is $XXX. And I said, Oh, I thought it was 20% off today. To which she responded, Well yeah, you have to say it or you dont get it. Again sass. This was an all too negative experience, especially when I consider how much money I spend with Sephora annually. This assocaite should be better to customers, regardless of status.
Camille helped me find matching foundation, concealer, and bronzer! The foundation was a perfect match!! On top of that I’ve been using Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel recommended by her to improve my skin and it works sooo well! I can’t thank her enough! I usually go to the Sephora on state street out of convenience but I’ve never had much help with such spot on service. Thank you Camille!
This place is so big. Icame here to buy for my wife as she wasn come along, and i think i could lost inside if im not directly asking the stewardess to show me the products in my gallery. There are a lot of brands, name it: kiehls, dr jarr, drunk elephant, becca, estee lauder, and many more. This store is located just behind inn of chicago and there are plenty outlet also along magnificent mile avenue.
I went to this Sephora around 10:33AM Thursday morning (5/17/19). My mother and me were looking for makeup because she was leaving for vacation that night. My mom wanted to be matched and have her makeup done. Now when my mom asked for that an associate told her that they were all busy and couldn’t do her makeup. Now being an avid Sephora shopper I know you have to buy $60 or more when you get a makeover which my mom was going to do. Like I said the associate said nobody could help her, but I saw many associates walking around talking to each other, it’s 10 in the morning you are telling me you couldn’t fit my mother in for a small makeup application. I don’t know what’s been going on with Sephora lately I really don’t want to buy from them anymore. My mother and me left and went to Macy’s on State St. where the cosmetic department associates were so much more helpful and did a full face of makeup on my mother. My mom loved all the products and spent $159 on the makeup. We would have done the same at Sephora if the associates were helpful and not just walking around. I don’t know how Sephora is still surviving, they will lose many customers if they don’t train their associates better.
This is my home away from home (and work) . I love the staff, location, and product availability at this location. As a Rouge member it means a lot that thit team knows me. Im greeted by name, every interaction is genuine and personable, and Im left alone to just browse. This is a Flagahip location of the brand and this team does an impeccable job of exceeding customer service expectations. I visit Sephoras all over and specifically book a Custom Makeovers for convenience. Hands down this the cleanest most experienced group of Color Artists in the company. Bravo Megan (current Store Director) and team! So if youre in town take it from if my faves here Quit looking and start booking
Fully staffed, maybe overstaffed, and couldnt get help. Employee doing his own makeup, another employee standing with him chatting and enjoying their conversation. I had to interrupt and ask if someone could help me. I asked for Armani spf 50 smoothing primer sample and she started to tell me she would find someone else, then I handed it to her. She said sorry its empty. We have to get another. 10 minutes pass. Im not sure which primer was requested, or if the wrong one was pulled from back, but when someone finally pulled it and made the sample it was wrong. It wasnt properly shaken, and the formula is for dryer skin types, as I just discovered. The spf primers all look the same, but if youre properly trained, you know they are different. Associate first tried to pull another bottle that looked similar to the empty. I had to point out the different formulas to her. I have many Armani products and primers, so I am familiar with their line. Sunscreen primers MUST be shaken. Unqualified staff. She filled the sample out of my sight, then simply marked it Armani and handed it me. Sorry I spent my hard earned cash there Friday, April 28, 2017. I was so excited to venture in the new location, disappointment for sure.
I LOVE this Sephora! Its huge and has more products than Ive ever seen at a Sephora. The majority of the staff are very knowledgeable and willing to take time to help you with whatever youd like. They carry a lot of hair products here, which doesnt occur very often in Sephora stores. In addition, there is tons of room set up for mini-facials, makeup consultations & application, classes and more.

2022-04-12This store should carry a bigger selection of fragrance testers, especially during the sale period. Its difficult to buy a fragrance online or at the store if I cant test it at the store.I feel like the selection of perfumes was better before the pandemic. The staff is nice and helpful.

2022-06-19I was in Chicago on vacation and needed some advice on makeup. At almost 47 years old I never really got into makeup and wanted something that I could wear regularly that would lessen the amount of yellow in my eyes (I’ve got hazel eyes and have never liked them). I walked in and Rose/Rosalyn was right there ready to help me. She walked me through everything and found the best colors! I was so happy and Rose was so kind to me and walked me through everything I needed to know. Rose was the best and I’m hoping this review makes it to her boss. SHE WAS SO GREAT!!!!Cant say enough nice things about her. The picture is the finished product of Rose’s masterpiece. Please mind the sun hat…. It was super windy today. L

2022-05-24I had the most lovely experience this afternoon at Sephora! I walk with a cane and so I am always super nervous about going into this store, but my beauty expert/guide made my whole visit today just wonderful! I was desperate to find a replacement foundation, but really didnt have a clue where to start.. I tried to look at the samples of YSL on my hand, but just made a mess. I felt so embarrassed and ridiculous, but when I asked for a tissue I met the most fantastic woman. Kind, patient and super-knowledgeable, she gave me wonderful options and helped me every step of the way and made me feel so comfortable and not a burden. I didnt get her name (if you manage this store please track her down, I described her to the women who rang me up, but I dont know if she got the right woman who was working on the floor.. my reciept says that I checked out at 1:29pm so she must have helped me before then.. and I know the woman was standing in front of the store when I said thank you and goodbye on my way out. She had blonde coloured hair that was pulled back (she said it was to help with her greys : ) and her skin just glowed ! ) Well, she sold me a FANTASTIC Tom Ford foundation and I have to tell you that after my experience with her I will definitely be coming back... she was the epitome of top-tier customer service and she reminded me why coming into the store is worth the time and effort....thanks again to this marvelous mystery woman : ) give this lady a raise!

2022-05-21Unfortunately there is no boyfriend seating section like Aritzias got, but my girlfriend absolutely loved walking around in here, trying all the samples, and then leaving with nothing but a $27 lip gloss after an hour.

2022-01-17Very pleasant and helpful staff. I hate that I cant experience Sephora like we use to. I miss being able to try on product but due to COVID they have a strict mask mandate. I understand but it sucks .

2021-11-16I came in with a huge list of things I wanted to get while they had 20% sale for Rouge members (it was the last day of the sale) and a limited amount of time. I was greeted immediately by a few staff members and then Aliana helped me finding everything and giving some great advise. Angie at the checkout was also super friendly and knowledgeable about the current promos, etc. I had an amazing experience and can’t wait to come back soon! :)
