Schnucks is one of my personal favorite Peoria grocery stores and theyre more high-end the foods are better quality and the fresh fruit the delis the in-store restaurants the meats the cheese the seafood the whole store is a grade A great market chain that again would rival any chain in the United States for top place. with the knowledgeable stuff well stocked. Sadly a couple years ago when they had a break in of their computer systems and stolen were alot of peoples credit cards and I never really have felt safe because theyre the only chain I really heard that it happened to. they need to do more to ensure that thats what taken care of. If I need a specific food of high quality this is the place I go to its quiet its friendly its respectful the food is great and the prices are very decent.
I would normally give it a higher mark but had a very bad experience the other day. Was at the deli, older lady getting my food. Started out using the tonges but then after touching several things including her mask she started just using her gloved hands to put my meat in containers . I wanted some artichoke patties and she said ...Oh you dont want those 2 , they look like they have bits taken out of them. Totally grossed me out.
Lady at the u scan was extremely RUDE!! I tried asking her a couple of questions: 1- why the price was different on the screen$52, from the one on the card reader $31. She walked away. Then I asked if I could use my points, she walked away from me again. Then after I paid, she said to use my points I have to have her suspend my order and do it at her register. She was rude the entire time. I doubt I will bother going back to this store. The real kicker, the slogan on the top of the receipt is: The friendliest store in town... I dont believe that for a second.
Im an out-of-town 1st-time shopper. Enjoyed your organic fresh food selections. Asked one employee for help locating an item. She went out of her way to assist. Much appreciated! Very clean store. Check-out asked if I found everything. Pleasant & engaging. Enjoyable experience.
We ordered a first birthday cake for my son and we were not disappointed. We ordered Mickey Mouse cake and it was adorable! Also when you order a quarter sheet cake or larger you get a free smash cake which my son thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you for making such an awesome cake we really appreciated it.
This store has a huge selection and friendly staff. I ate at the deli and bought a few things. It was a good experience. The prices are about the same as most big grocery stores. The deli food was fresh and delicious. And they offer a salad bar that looked fresh and appetizing. No complaints.
Great salad bar, mushroom and olive bar, hot food bar... Fantastic selection, lots of unique and special brands and products. Customer service is good. Always free samples, somewhere, several on weekends. Self serve bakery items, cookies, donuts and pastries- price reduced after 7p. Clearance bins and end caps with impressive discounts
Best place to go for quality produce with good variety. Great alcohol section too. Aside from the produce, fresh foods, and alcohol, this store is only okay. Relatively high prices for staples. If you are looking for specific dry goods, I would recommend going to Hy-Vee Grand Prairie instead. But if you need produce, go to Schnucks.
Schuncks is a really comfortable grocery store shopping experience. The store is well laid out, the aisles are wide enough for two carts, the selection is more than ample, the carts are in good condition & operate smoothly and the pricing is competitive. On top of all that, the in store deli/hot food counter puts out some really enticing aromas! Great produce section, too.
Schnucks Peoria was a very pleasant experience (if anything can be pleasant amidst the current pandemic) in every way, except one: Prices are on the pricey side. Thus, the lack of the 5th star. What drew me to Schnucks for this first visit? A newspaper ad & some very good bargains.Entering the store I saw an employee who was responsible for cleaning each shopping cart when brought back into the store by other employees. I appreciated that extra effort as an aging senior. At the entrance, and throughout the store are hand sanitizer stations are present. The store is immaculately clean and displays of food are orderly. One unusual observation involved the Schnucks shopping carts. Made of high grade plastic they sported 2 drink cup holders and were so unbelievably quiet when moved. I dont know who makes their shopping carts but they are without question the smoothest rolling and turning carts I have ever experienced. Usually, I am always the lucky sap who gets the shopping cart from hell: front wheels shake as you push it, the wheels either have something stuck to a wheel or chunk out of it that results in the loudest and embarrassing noises as I move throughout the store shaking their metal wire panels multiplying the vibration and rhythmic clacking of the wheels.I know its hard to believe but the Schnucks carts actually got easier to move, seemingly floating on some type of independent suspension (although such a suspension presence is highly doubtful). Even with a 20 lb bag of dog food, three lies of soda and 5 six packs 16.9 oz bottles of pop, a 3.5 lb roast and a host of other items, that cart turned as easy as when it was empty, remained quiet and effortless to push. So kudos are in order to Schnucks for removing my biggest grocery shopping pet peeve! The store is extremely well laid out with signs & display features that made finding items a breeze, even though being from Michigan. Schnucks is well lit, especially in the main grocery, refrigerated and freezer sections. The deli, the bakery, spirits, and produce sections had an appealing ambiance of softer light. While more pricey, cuts of meat were leaner than you find in most stores. The selection throughout the store was large, almost overwhelmingly so...almost the experience of being a kid in a candy store! It was very late Sunday afternoon, so the number of heldful smiles in every aisle (another store chain claim) was almost nonexistent. But who needs a helpful smile when the store smiles for you. Grocery shopping in other chains always seems like an unending and never successful attempt to understand the logic of product placement. The more illogical, I guess, means you have to see more of the store and thus the strategy to get you to impulse buy. Although the first time to shop Schnucks, I had NO problem finding exactly what I needed and thus the normal male frustration level with grocery shopping disappeared. Finally, I would be derelict if I didnt mention my checkout experience. It can be described with 2 words: smooth and quick. Walmart undoubtedly holds the record for the slowest checkouts in the world. Aldi has the fastest checkouts. But Shnucks check out married smooth, quick, and efficient with an extremely friendly cashier who didnt wait for items to be removed from the cart but moved out from behind the cash register with portable scanner in hand to scan the dog food, 2 liters or soda, 5 six packs of 16.9 oz of pop (just $10 by the way, and no gimmicks to buy a certain number to get the low price) and other items in the main section of the cart, leaving just a few delicate items in the upper section of the cart to go on the conveyor belt.I was asked how & if I wanted my large items bagged. I was asked if I was a rewards member. I cringed, figuring that like many other stores you needed a card to get their best deals. I asked if I needed one since I was from Michigan (plus I dreaded yet another card and wasted time! No. Not necessary. I smiled, the teen cashier made my day!
The main reason I ever go to Schnucks as for alcohol and they have a great beer selection but what I love is there giant beer cooler its a walk-in arrangement with automatic opening doors and all the beers you could ever want. I would say that Schnucks typically has a higher and feel a little bit higher than Kroger but also a little bit more spendy. That said they do a great job on pricing their liquorits a fairly easy in and out even though this location is at one of the busiest intersections in Peoria. the people here have always been very friendly and provide great customer service as well
Clean store. Helpful employees. Plenty of lanes open and self check out available. Beautiful and wide selection of groceries. Large liquor department. Customer service counter offers many services. Clean restrooms. Great deli with sitdown area for salad bar, soup bar, wing bar. Great bakery and baked goods. Always like this place.
Okay, in all fairness to Starbucks, I prefer local coffee shops. Having said that, they certainly are consistent from store to store. This location is no less inviting than any other location. They have a Turkey bacon breakfast sandwich that is only 230 calories, not bad.
Once again we had a wonderful evening at Schucks. And (and this is important) it was a very affordable evening! We sat down with good people, good food, and good music (thanks Paul and Jason!) plus got our shopping done! This is a beautiful, well-stocked store with all the extras: deli, bakery, bistro, etc. etc. Do yourself a favor and check out this store on a Friday evening -- youll have a great time and you might just find your new grocery store.
Schnucks is an incredibly friendly store. We were visiting from another state, shopping there for the first time, and received help little times to find items. Also, the lady at the deli shared some of her favorite meats and cheeses while sharing stories with us. A great experience for a first time visitor.
As many other reviews have stated, the staff are extremely rude. I was treated like trash by the cashier and the manager for no reason. I tried emailing their corporate about the situation but never received a reply. Apparently they just don’t care. I won’t be going back. Take your business to Hy-Vee or any other grocery store who actually cares about their customers.
I was really excited when I moved close to this Schnucks because of their beautiful cheese and veggie area. Unfortunately, I have had to return fresh cheese because it molded in my refrigerator before I even got the chance to open it and well before the sell by date printed on the sticker. My veggies from there all seem to get soft quickly as well. In fact, I bought radishes for dinner and they were already starting to turn the following evening when I went to use them. It is highly questionable that their veggies and cheeses are fresh, which makes me question everything else they sell that is supposed to be fresh.I also had to wait at their seafood area for 20 minutes before anyone came out to help me.I will be driving to the HyVee near my old house from now on.
I really like going to Schnuks because of their rewards program. The more you spend the more you accrue points that gets converted into dollars. You can use this to reduce your total bill. The employees are pleasant and the store is clean. Im not sure whats going on with the international section though.
Great meals at the chefs express, hot and delicious beef noodles, pizza, etc. Clean, well stock produces. Everything in order. Grind hamburger everyday. I like their meat because no added salt, or water and besides the packages of meat, etc. you can buy your meat and ask to cut it the way you want at the meat dept.
Paying your bills there are hit and miss.. today was a big miss.. two people at customer service and only one person doing a window... the gal not running a window was pam. I felt she couldve been helping others that werent paying a bill or at the very least asked if anyone whom isnt paying a bill she could help.. Im sorry but this wasnt a ideal time nor very pleasant.. some older people were kinda suffering the ridiculously long line. The younger gal I didnt catch her name was very pleasant. Need better staffing and better expectations out of customer service dept.. big time.. especially at peak hours
Ordered their fried ravioli to take to a holiday party. The pick up time was 5:30. I arrived at 5:25 and no one knew anything about the order. Then one of the deli employees found the order pinned to the order board. I was told it would only 5 minutes to make (I figured that was possible because they are fried right. So 15 minutes later and nothing. I of the stores managers walked by so I told him what was going on. He went and checked on it and told me it would be another 15 minutes and that I would not have to pay for anything. Sounds good right, 30 minutes late but free. Well that didnt happen. Another 10 minutes and I asked what was going on. I was told that the oven was not even up to the correct temperature and it but be another 15 minutes. I told them I was already late and I was tired of being lied to. So I went to the cold deli area and picked up a taco dip tray and a bag of chips. The manager said that I could have those for free and aaked if I wanted anything else (I resisted the urge to say the last hour of my life back) said no that I needed to go. I understand that things get messed up sometimes, but I can not understand why you keep telling me 15 minutes when you know the oven isnt even hot. I could have picked something else and got the party in time. I have been shopping at least once a week at this store for as long as it has been open in Peoria. I will probably keep shopping there, but I will never order anything again.
As a gourmet cook I can praise Schnucks as having some of the best if not the best produce and selction in the area, much of it organic which i purchase for taste and nutrition. Much of it is local in season. Always fresh!. Top brands and great selection . Also I rate their bakery as the best market bakery . Whenever I compose a cheese board for entertaining Schnucks is my only choice, Thankyou Schnucks for being there.Carol Huggins
I am a younger person (early to mid twenties) who moved to the area to work for a major company in the Peoria area. As such, I have an out of state drivers license. I was attempting to purchase alcohol from this store, and the cashier checking out my item very loudly refused to accept my drivers license, calling me a liar for presenting a perfectly valid, government-issued ID. The genius reasoning behind this? The picture on my card was black and white, and she had never seen that before. Both embarrassing and insulting. Id advise against anyone from shopping here.

2022-04-19It may seem silly, but their carts are awesome. Very helpful and friendly. Have several items other stores do not have but found several things that were a dollar cheaper.

2020-01-31I usually only shop for meat and sales here because normal pricing is way higher than Walmart or Kroger, they do have a good deal with the 4/$20 meat but the selection usually is very slim if any. Store is clean and well stocked. I do like that kids get 1 free piece of fruit also.
