The staff is awesome, service is amazing. I had tips with a gel dip, and I did the Xpression Pedi - Im a huge pedicure person and opted for the basic the first time, well worth every penny you really get a great service for the basic. Id love to get one of the more advanced packages next time. The salon is EXTREMELY clean...which as we know is very important with nails. The girl that runs the front (I forgot to get her name) is very organized and super wonderful. Theyve made a regular client out of me!! I cant wait to go back. Obviously, with them being so amazing theyre also very busy. I highly recommend an appointment in advance.
I was super exited to try this place out due to having good reviews and what not !! I was very upset to have had the worst experience….I made an appointment to come here for a manicure and pedicure. The lady in the front was rude to me, rushed my appointment time, and I didn’t have the proper services. I did not get the manicure. I was told to sit to get started with the pedicure. I waited 35 mins before being seen. Sat in cold water. I didn’t even have the proper service… in fact my toe was cut from how rough and rushed it was. I had to go somewhere else to get my color re put on just because it was rushed , wasn’t relaxed, and was upset I still paid for services though, but not to what it was hyped up to be. Not sure if it was just a bad day or what , but I’m not happy my almost $50 pedicure didn’t even have the nail polish stay on after services and no one apologized just for the service in general. I’m not sure if I would try again then see, i’m pretty open and understanding of things like this… to be quiet honest kind of terrified from this experience.Im sorry but maybe you’ll have a better experience?
Im 9 months pregnant and wanted to do a little something for me before baby arrives.. Even though I didnt have an appointment they were able to fit me in just after a few minutes of waiting. Everyone is so polite and cleanliness is their priority. Julie gave me the best pedicure of my life. I will certainly be going back. She took her time and the massage was great! I wanted a manicure as well and although I had a crack on both my thumb nails, Christine was able to patch me up so I could use my real nails instead of putting on tips. Theyre fantastic! Cant say enough good things. Worth the price!
I made an appointment for 2 manicures, and the appointment was approved. When we showed up for our appointments, they said they were too full and tried to have us do our manicures one at a time at their service counter (where they keep supplies and refill their bowls), standing up. We left without our manicures because it was highly unprofessional to approve our appointments, but then not have space for us. And make us stand up for our whole manicures! Wont be going back.
The staff was very friendly. I was grated as a walked in. My nail tech Eric did a fantastic job on my nails, he took his time and was attentive made sure everything was even and looked great. i’ve had some bad experiences with my nails in the past and I am SO glad my nails turned out amazing. I will most definitely be returning for my next set. :)
I have been coming here every month for 2 years. I always get dip nails, and the nail technicians do a great job, even if my nails chip within one week, they will always let me come back in to repair that one nail for free. Good selection of dip powder colors. Friendly staff and clean location!
I had never been here before, and getting my nails done is a treat a couple times a year, not a regular thing. First of all, I was able to book online, which is just, wonderful. I also never did dip nails before, only acrylic with polish. I have never had such a great experience! I got am ombre dip nail, stilleto shaped- so I got tips on too. For All that I asked for, ombre, tips and shape were all add-on but I didnt feel gouged. I had Bi (said like, Bee), and he was fantastic. I am very anxious and have had a lot of really rough techs before. He was gentle. Paid close attention to detail. And seemed like he really cared about giving me what I wanted. I 1000% will go back. Also, tip your tech!!
My first day I walked in I liked the manager which is why I choose the salon. I had been experiencing lifting and breaking nails with every salon I tried. The first tech I tried (I choose) and I wasn’t too happy but the manager recommended another nail tech and I can honestly say I love my nails. The manager was very accommodating and truly wants every customer to hv a great experience. I’m grateful for finding the salon and that I tried it again.I transitioned from acrylic to dip and I really like that process Bc my nails are thin. Great customer service and very very clean.
Used to frequent this location regularly because the techs were awesome and the receptionist was exceptional at her job. My nail girl left and the receptionist left. After that I had a slew of mediocre experiences. Finally, after two poor instances of customer service I decided to switch salons. I will say, this salon is very clean and they obviously work very hard here because they’re always busy.
I’ve been coming to this salon for the past two years and they have been amazing every time! My family even drives over once a month from BLM to get their nails done. They know us (names, what services we like, etc). If you want to get your nails done on a weeknight or weekend, I suggest making an appointment as it’s their busiest times. But even if you don’t have an appointment they work so hard to fit you in. The salon is the cleanest I’ve found in CU too. I wouldn’t go anywhere else! I love this salon!!
Third time coming here, third disappointment. Last 2 dip manicures lasted not even 2 weeks. Every other salon I have gone to my dip has lasted 4-5 weeks. This time I got a regular manicure and I could have done a better job painting my own nails. NOT worth your money at all.
Always prompt and ready for my appointments. You can tell they keep a maintained schedule. I have been a few times for pedis and a couple of times for nails. Once no-chip and then the other dip both on my natural nail. All experiences have been great results. Best pedicures. Hands down.
I really enjoyed the cleanliness of this shop the air you breathe isnt like a tiny shop you can actually breathe easy without worrying about the chemical smell. Only thing i really disliked was the reception people, when me and my girls went in we werent acknowledged or greeted. I have worked in customer service for over 3 years and trust me thats a big NO NO for shops like this one. The people who did our nails were completely opposite they were very friendly . Over a if you would ignore the customer service you can have a really good time and a really good set of nails.
I love having an appointment, the person that started with my pedicure followed me the whole time and did my manicure as well, I love that!!! No here and there, and different people. I had a great experience with Tommy as my staff member, he was great, and talked with me.
I dont usually write reviews, but really wanted to share my experience this time. I went to Salon Xpression for the first time New Years Eve to get my nails done and was extremely pleased! The service is great, the staff is super nice, and they do a wonderful job! I didnt have an appointment but they got my right in. It was by far the best experience Ive had locally at nail salons. I will definitely be going back!
I wish I could give them 10 stars! I have never had such excellent customer service in a nail salon. They were attentive, listened to our needs, offered us drinks, and most importantly, they took care of my nails. I hadn’t had my nails done in months because they were so damaged. My daughter surprised me and took me to salon xpression and I am so grateful she did. My daughter had Paul and I had Kelly, she was so gentle, she didn’t drill my nails to death. They were exactly what I asked for! Both Paul and Kelly did a fantastic job on our nails. I will definitely be back. I can’t forget that since we were there on New Year’s Eve, They have us a thank you gift for coming in. Such a classy, beautiful place. It is open and the decor makes you feel upbeat and positive. MY HANDS DID NOT HURT AFTERWARDS! Thank you so much salon xpression!
Let me start off by saying I have been here before and have had great service but today was awful. I made an appointment 3 days before said appointment. I show up, they say they don’t have an appointment scheduled. I show them my phone with the proof of the call and date I made it. They eventually fit us in, however, we waited with our feet in cold water for 30 minutes before we were ever attended to. Also, it’s hard to have a relaxing pedicure when the staff is running around frantically due to high volume and yelling at each other from across the two rooms. Lastly, when I told them I needed to be somewhere by a certain time I was told “no problem!” Needless to say I had to leave the salon with wet toenails and foam flip flops.Changes need to be made here. Time management, customer service, better organizational skills.
Really nice people, great services, and seems clean. They will push for other services but if you know what you want it isnt a big deal. They use plastic liners in their pedicure bowls. Only downside is that it is pretty pricey, but I think thats the case for CU nail salons in general.
The good: the massage was great. The salon was spotless. The lotion smelled yummy. No wait. Very quiet and peaceful. The bad: for the price Im not thrilled with the final product. My heels are still rough and when I looked at the color at home its not very even and the edges are spotty. It was more than other salons but not better quality.
I went to Xpressions for my nails and toes for my cousins wedding . I will say that Xpression nails does a very good job on pedicures and manicures. I got a full set & a pedicure when I went , but they are priced very high. Typically I pay $25 for a full set but when I went to Xpressions I ended up paying $40. Although, while you are there they do offer you a glass of wine or a bottle of water which is nice don’t get me wrong. The staff here is pretty decent and confident in the work they are doing. Whenever I left I was pleased with what they did. Thank you Xpression staff 😊
I WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. My daughter and I came in for the dip powder. At first we were impressed by the salon and the cleanliness of it. Unfortunately the customer service was much to be desired. They were very rude to us and very unprofessional. Some of the workers had very bad attitudes, made condescending remarks and gave us rude looks when we simply asked a question. This was our first and last time coming to this salon. Here is a word of advice:You can be the best at what you do but if you don’t know how to treat people with kindness and respect no one will want to invest in your business. If you can find another nail salon.
The stylists are very talented and are without question the best in town. Better than Elegant (and that says A LOT). They could do better at pricing, however. Like...not charging additional for a manicure when you get your nails done or nail shape. Other than that, they are my go to place - never had one of those in Champaign until now. So, yeah. Worth it.Paul is AMAZING and is the ONLY one I trust with my nails! He does the ombré with dip powder better than anyone in Champaign. Kelly and Lee are also great. 🙂
XPression Nail Salon does an absolutely amazing job. After my mother got a nail infection from another nail place in the cham-bana area, we decided to try this place because of its cleanliness. They take tools out of bags when they use them and I feel very clean when in there. Also, my nails are always amazing, and I have never been disappointed.
Xpression Nails is a pristine and beautiful salon! I have been there several times since it opened and have always been very happy with the experience. The employees are professional, kind and do great work. My latest experience was with Johnny and he did a great job!
I love Expression salon. The lady who does my eyebrows has always given me a reason not go anywhere else. The only thing I dont like is when I get my upper lip waxed, they announce it to the whole salon (yes, please tell everyone about my hairy upper lip, NOT!) Discretion for my visit would be appreciated, even if it comes to the color of nail polish.
The first time I went there, the manager was at the front desk and was so nice!! She suggested I get the dip nails, I told her I didnt like that they had always turned out bumpy at other salons . She guaranteed no bumps, but they were very bumpy .Decided to give them another try anyway and went there this morning. The same lady who was so nice the first time was very rude today. I mean extraordinarily rude! I told her so and left. Would not recommend this place!!
Absoloutely love it here everyone was so kind and polite! The actual store was so modern and very clean. So many different colors to choose from (dip and no chip) and the staff really cares about your needs. Love love love the vibe here and so pleased with my mani pedi this is definitely my new go to nail place!
Worst service. The staff didnt even greet me. I asked for a service they had just done to my sister without a problem. And refused and said they didnt offer it when they had done it to my sister mins before. Instead of apologizing they all sat by the door talking to each other not acknowledging i was still there. Dont go here they are rude and unprofessional. If you guys cant offer a person a friendly environment dont open a salon.
I give Xpressions 3 stars instead of 5. This is not because of the work they do, but because of the customer service. I have been coming here for a couple of years now and today I came to the shop at 6:40pm. This is the only time I could come because of my hectic schedule and I knew they didn’t close till 7:00pm. When I walked in I was told they were closed. I said, “so you don’t close at 7?”. I was then told yes, but they stop taking clients at 6:30pm. I was furious because I made the trip to come there for no reason. This is my biggest pet peeve when establishments close BEFORE their time listed. If you want to stop taking clients at 6:30 then you need to change your hours to close at 6:30 not 7. Unfortunately they just lose a valued customer.
First time here and great that they have Sunday hours. Lovely place, and very clean. However, staff was rude and impatient with everyone. Quality of a mani / pedi was about what I could do at home myself (which is lousy), and I even got nicked so I was bleeding. I will not return; Ill stick with my usual place (which happened to be closed).

2022-01-26First time going in today, had an amazing experience because the value is great for the service they provide! They were gentle in handling my nails and hands. Sweet people who always checked with me often if I like what was being done on my nails and check if I was okay with their work so far. I loved my nails! I also had nail art done and it looked amazing! I’m lucky and thankful for such a wonderful experience the first time going in!honestly, I didn’t know what to expect but I’m definitely coming back!i also loved the clean and spacious interior! It was so nice and pleasing! I got almond shaped dip powder nails with nail art and gem!Edit: I came back and I’m still in love with their work! I got Valentine’s Day nails this time! Glittery white French tips.

2021-10-15Sam was awesome! I’ve never gotten a pedicure before and he did an amazing job! I did the signature pedicure which included a foot soak and scrub, led scrub and moisturize, hot towels on the legs, led massage and hot stone leg massage, and color of course! I was in heaven and I’m definitely coming back soon!

2022-02-10You can refer to this picture for the reason behind leaving this review. I’m visiting from out of state and wanted a pedicure, just because. My friend called and booked an appointment for me. I was serviced immediately upon arriving. Cool… I inquired about getting gel polish (since it’s winter, it would be easier leaving the salon and not worry about messing up the polish putting on socks and shoes). I was told it would be an additional $40, not including the pedicure. Wild, but I went ahead and just asked for the regular lacquer polish then. It was an additional $5 to remove the gel polish I was currently wearing. No kidding, from the time I sat down to the polishing, it was an entire 10 mins… then to look down and see this… the bulky polishing, the slanted clipping of my toenail (which is a big no no for ingrown prone toenails), (un) cuticle work… it was $35 for the 10 min basic pedicure and gel polish removal. I’m chucking it as a loss but you guys can do what you may with this information. Hope this helps!

2021-07-12I called in to schedule my appointment and they were EXTREMELY flexible with me and I booked an appointment later in the day and they didn’t rush doing my nails! They are also super reasonably priced. I had Bee, he was the BEST!! Definitely coming back!!

2022-05-17I’ve been to Salon Xpression before and had a good experience but I think you need to know which technician to request. While my technician this 2nd visit was very kind, I was not pleased with his skills and the final outcome. My cuticles were still jagged, nails not filed well, and the polish was streaky and on my skin in places. I will return to this salon but do a little more research so I know who to request next time.

2022-05-23I dont recommend this place. The service really varies and I’ve had more bad experiences than good. First time I came, everything was cool. Next time I came, I left with some bleeding cuticles because they clip them too much... Then, I came back and I got dip with extensions on the 11th for my graduation. Everything came off my nails on the 21st (yesterday). That’s barely 10 days and I dont do anything work wise that might have loosened the nails or caused them to pop off. I’ve had this service done before and usually the nails last me 4 weeks… I don’t think the nail tech glued the extensions on properly which really sucks. And I paid $100 for this and a pedicure. So frustrating.. I wish i could get a refund!Just find a local nail technician who will invest their time in your nails and provide you with better quality for the same price. Or get press-ons.. because that’s what it feels like i had!
