First-timed there yesterday with a friend, a Tuesday night, for pho to celebrate frigid April in Chicago. She got the vegan, I the beef trifecta (steak, meatball, and a third type? It was scrumptious). The whole menu looked amazing but we went there for pho, so well have to go back. Neighboring tables food (fajitas I think) -- incredible aroma. Our pho was plentiful, delicious, fresh basil, crunchy sprouts, took a good portion home as leftovers. The restaurant atmosphere was comfortable and pleasant, reminiscent of a favorite spot from college where live music, good tunes, and a little bit of everything you might want to eat or drink was offered and everyone hung out all the time. Broad wooden tables, a split-level layout and fireplace, it feels expansive & cavernous inside. Bet they could run an open mic. Id go there by myself to read or study sometime. Our server was very friendly and attentive, too.
I called in for a pickup order at 5pm and was told my order would be ready within 10-15 minutes. I arrived to pickup my food at 5:15. My food was not ready. I waited another 5 minutes before asking what the holdup was and how long it was going to take. I was told that I was going to have to wait another 5 minutes. So you mean to tell me that after arriving on time and already waited 5 minutes, that I have to wait another 5 minutes? I called in my order because I was on a tight schedule and did not have time to wait. So I immediately left. I called to speak with a manger after calming down. They took down my name and number and told me they would call me back to resolve the issue. I have yet to hear back from them. I will never come back to this restaurant again and I will ensure that non of my family or friends come to this restaurant.
For any of you out there that dont think reviews accurately reflect a place that you are thinking of trying think again. Last night we decided to try the Rogers Pier seafood restaurant in Rogers Park. As I do with all new places that I have never been I looked at the reviews from others that had gone before me. I discovered that the reviews of this place were extremely accurate so we sort of knew what to expect but went with a completely open mind.Lets start with the service. Before I go here let me mention that there were only 2 other tables eating at 7:30 on a Saturday night!! Not a good sign to begin with. The waitress was very nice but the service was TERRIBLE!! We waited over an hour just to get served and we had ordered Ceviche and gumbo for appetizers and one would think that these items are prepared in advance and so would come to the table relatively quickly but that was NOT the case. I had to get up and go find the waitress to ask her to please bring us the appetizers because we were starving. She made up some lame excuse and told me that she would have to consult the chef. Well after at least 1/2 hour waiting we got the appetizers. Ceviche was average and the gumbo was excellent. After another 1/2 hour she brought out a plate of mussels that my friend ordered for his main course. That was it!! 10 minutes later his wife got her salmon entree. After another awkward wait while my friend ate his mussels my wife got her salad and last but not least I got my soft shell crab poor boy. When my friend said something in the nicest possiible way that she should really bring out all the food together at the same time she said that isnt how we do things here. Now for the food. The other reviews said that the food was actually pretty good but we did not find it to be good enough to offset all of the myriad of other problems. Let me just say that my soft shell crab poor boy was very disappointing because instead of serving a whole soft shell crab they served very small pieces on the sandwich. They also wanted to charge us for an extra tostado for the Ceviche and my friend asked for bread to dip into the mussel broth and they told him that it would be an additional dollar!!I dont know how long its been there but Im betting that by this time next year its closed!! Not going back!!
I really love this place! every time I come to visit from Dallas Texas I make sure and stop in .Tom the owner and his wife qui are super nice people and go the extra mile to make sure you are fed well with their Amazing unique dishes. The sizzling oysters are one of my favorites And the gumbo is pretty amazing also.
THE BEST. PERIOD. Order anything. Had the Gumbo Soup. So delish. Fried Catish - the BEST INCLUDES CAJUN FRIES. The Best Part is they treat you better than you deserve to be treated. I know that sounds funny, but go somewhere else and you will know what I mean. Can I keep going? They will turn on any event on any T.V. you need. Clean bathrooms that reminds me of the best of Vegas, lived there for 10 years. A fireplace that feels good. Couches that are probably better than the one you bought and had delivered to your home.My favorite - about to try the Calamari which I know will melt in my mouth because the more popular this place gets - the better they cook, and I know the Calamari is ALREADY popular. I cant wait to get that STEAK.FOLKS - DONT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE. Great place for a date or whatever.
I had a very horrible experience. First, all of our food came out at very odd times, not one of us got our food at the same time and this was the same thing with our drinks. While the food tasted good, I was with 4 of my friends and 2 of us had to return our orders as they were wrong. Then, one of my friends orders was STILL wrong. After we (very politely) asked for her correct order again, someone from the back (the cook I assume?) came out and very rudely asked us What exactly do you want?, gave us an attitude and was very hostile towards us in general. After this we decided to leave, we were offered no compensation or even an apology for this horrible experience. I will not be coming here again and will be sure that my friends stay far away.
They can be pretty pricey but the food is always good. I have not seen this place with more than a few patrons at a time, but dont be thrown off by the lack of busy times. They also have specials everyday of the week on food and on drinks. Great stop after a day at the beach!
Poor Service. Came in on a Sunday afternoon there were only about 4 tables seated. Waited 15 mins for drinks. Then after 45 mins of waiting for our entrees we needed to take it to go. Server had stated that they received a bunch of to go orders, but by telling me that you are saying that to go orders are more important than the people seated in your restaurant. Unfortunately dont see this place lasting which is unfortunate since its in a great location and had high hopes for this place.
From what I have been able to gather, this budding restaurant is doing well. Im interested in the various types of seafoods that are available here. Throw in a nice selection of beer and wine, from the looks of it they will be open for lunch and dinner, also late nights. Plenty of room for large groups and family members from out of town.
I made the mistake of having brunch there last week. What a disaster---poor service, bad food and over priced. For example for $10 you get 2 eggs and toast. If you want breakfast potatoes it costs $2 more. The scrambled eggs were over cooked and the toast cold, served without butter or jelly.I suggest you avoid this place.

2017-11-20Forgot to put salmon on salmon Benedict then it was like she took from refrigerator and just placed it in between. Really cold. The unprofessional cook/owner came out and tried to explain how the smoked salmon is supposed to be cold. Ive been here many times ordered same brunch entree its been fine before now cold salmon that was forgotten to be placed on no biggie just fix the issue how its suppose to be dont give me attitude like I want take time/ energy to complain first place. Horrible experience, Owner needs to work on her attitude with handling a complaint maybe it wasnt her day. The service has always been slow but trying to support a local business I continue to give it several chances. Food is always great just this one time my experience is terrible. Not sure how they stay in business when its always empty.Issue was fixed with salmon Benedict you see before and after photo below it look/taste delicious like its been several times before. Not sure if Ill be back anytime soon just didnt like attitude of owner/ cook

2016-09-23I went with my brothers for the first time to this recently opened establishment which serves Cajun style seafood. The gentleman was very nice but he and another person were the only ones running the restaurant. Nevertheless, he was very professional and took our order. I ordered the catfish and fries lunch special. It was delicious. The fries were well seasoned, but the calamari was a bit disappointing. It looked more like it was a dried out onion rings. I will still give this another try for sure and I am a sucker for niceness.

2018-10-20Good food and good deals. It was pretty empty on a Thursday night if youre looking for a more relaxed vibe. The waiter taking care of us told us this was his first week and he did great! Very friendly. One bartender did start rushing us out at 10:30 despite the listed hours being until 11.

2018-08-22I have to give a rave review and BIG recommendation. I was out to eat with a friend today, and she suggested rogers pier. I told her my hesitation, because no one seems to ever be there. She said her neighbor owned it and it was really good. IT WAS AMAZING!! this lady (the owner) cooked the food special. She literally whipped up a not on the menu spaghetti for my girls, that was delicious. She made another plate for my friend, with seasons to her liking. I had a po boy, that was exactly as I hoped for. DELICIOUSShe is struggling to keep the restaurant afloat, and I think she deserves people to go eat there. PLEASE, go eat there, send your friends, send your neighbors, send your enemies. Send her customers. I really, highly, recommend.

2018-05-23Without a doubt some of the best crab legs I’ve had in the city! Their signature sauce is mouth-watering and it comes with potatoes and corn doused in it too. I also really enjoy their breakfast skillets, cheap brunch mimosas, and shrimp ceviche dip. This food is totally worth the trip!

2018-07-22If I could leave a negative star I would! The server has the personality of Lurch! The oysters were Not cleaned well, the ceviche tasted like it sat all day on a counter and served on a stale tostada 🤨 The mussels were overcooked and inedible. Their fried rice was supposed to be mild yet was heavily seasoned with a spicy Creole seasoning and the cocktails were awful! I will Never go back nor will I recommend this establishment to anyone!

2017-02-03The quality of much of the food here is excellent, (for starters, try the French Shaken Beef, the Ceviche or some fresh seafood by the lb. in their Signature Sauce) and add to that its very affordable with their portions, prices and specials. Dishes have presentation with a knowledge and skill in their making. There is a fireplace, couch and tables in one corner along with a nice open area with plenty of TVS and a nice bar. Every time you eat here, this restaurant gives directly back to the community! Read the menu or talk to the owner about the positive difference she and her daughter are trying to make. Try this place please and others in Rogers Park. Support the diverse and quality businesses like this one that help make our community better today and tomorrow.
