I have been to Ridgeville numerous times and the staff is extremely friendly, food is great and always comes out hot! Would recommend the risotto balls, cheese curds, homemade soups and the Kale salad with chicken. Can’t beat the homemade carrot cake. Stop in for a drink and stay for dinner. You won’t be disappointed!
Newly renovated bar and restaurant in the old Bar Louie site. Sat at the bar and had a few beers and dinner with my wife. The risotto fritters were excellent, and my Grove St. chicken sandwich was delicious. My wife loved her burger. Beers were nice and cold. The staff was friendly and attentive and the overall vibe was relaxed and welcoming. Already making plans to go back!
As of this writing, this is a new spot in south/central Evanston. We went on a non-busy weekday evening. The service was attentive and quick. We ordered a couple of beers (plenty on tap) and tried their fried pickles. They seem to be breaded in house and were pretty good. We havent had any of their larger plates, but will return at some point to try them. Worth a stop to try a new place!
Tap list is extensive and varied, and changes regularly, which is great. Theres always an inexpensive old mansThe beer for 4 bucks a go, too. Atmosphere is vibrant on game days, especially. Students seen to be gravitating here, so its pretty youthful. Food is typical sports bar fare, good but uninventive.
Great service, great food, great place to be!! Owner is an amazing person and has been in the industry for over 15 years!! Definition of a neighborhood bar. Great for watching games, patio, late night food. So happy this place is revitalizing downtown Evanston. We will be regulars!
The drinks & pricing were extremely reasonable but the service was not the greatest. As soon as we walked in the Chelsea walked up to us and did not greet us but asked for our ID immediately then proceeded to tell us that it was last call even though we walked in at 11pm and they do not close until 12am.We had to get our second drink from the bar which turned out to be a very good experience so thank you so much Araxi ☺️
We wandered up to the ridgeville tavern slightly ahead of their advertised 11pm closing time in search of beer to soften the edge of a curiously challenging evening. we were tired, and there were precious few options available in the immediate area. this is a college town, right? dont these people drink anymore? is this a covid thing?anyway, the bartenders had already called last call, but graciously allowed us to each have a glass of beer all the same. this was most welcomed and appreciated. the establishment was in closing mode, to be sure, but seems as though it could be a raucous good time under the right circumstances!
Hey, this is a new restaurant opened in Evanston. If you used to visit Bar Louie and new the manager Ike. He just opened Ridgeville, its his own tavern at the same site. Come out and support him and this new Evanston tavern!!! The food was excellent, we had the nacho platter as an appetizer and then the steak hoagie and mac and cheese....Large portions and everything was delicious!!!😋😋 Well definitely be back!!

2021-08-11Great drinks and awesome food. The risotto fritters are phenomenal (not pictured though). Beer and wine on tap is also a great plus. :)Ike and staff are fantastic and I’m so excited for Ridgeville to be my new neighborhood hangout!

2021-08-20First of all I can’t believe this is the same restaurant. The decor is vastly improved and the food - at least the burger I had tonight - was delicious! That relish on the burger... come try it for yourself. Maybe the best part is Ike and his familiar faces of staff. I have no doubt that Ridgeville Tavern will be a local hotspot in Evanston for years to come!

2021-12-15We love it here! The quesadillas are fantastic. Great wine for me and whiskey for my wife. Great location. All of the servers were beyond friendly. I love the photos of Evanston in the restaurant.

2022-03-18I came here here n a whim and was totally blown away. They have a great draft selection and the atmosphere is great. The food is also top notch pub grub. I tried the fish and chips and the grilled meatloaf. The cod was perfect and the tartar sauce made it even better. The meatloaf had some amazing gravy and the mashed potatoes felt like home. You gotta try this place.

2022-05-29We showed up with 30 people after a wedding to grab a few drinks prior to calling it a night. When we went to order drinks they said that we had to put all drinks on one card and could not open more than one tab. I do not recommend going to this bar with a large group.

2022-06-19Usually this is a classy bar to go to but the past couple of weeks have been pretty horrific. Last night was the worst case of harassment I have experienced outside this bar. Not only have they already had shootings here but last night there had to have been at least seven homeless people waiting outside the front door harassing people for money. This is a crime waiting to happen. Most patrons are drunk, all it will take is for one of them to say the wrong thing and that is it. I dont understand why the owners are not doing more to secure the safety of their customers. It was extremely scary last night. Also, keep in mind the downtown Evanston goes dead after 10 so if you are walking to your car from the bar, you dont know if your kids or you will be safe. They should have called the police to take care of this situation and disperse it. I would not advise anyone to stay here past 10.

2021-09-11Met the owner Ike. The bar is great. Spacious and very polite staff. Drinks are good and strong. Food is delicious. I recommend this place and wish it the best to survive and thrive.

2022-08-07I picked this place for a date and I wish I hadn’t. Service was fine. Outdoor seating was nice. But when I looked at the tiny Buffalo chicken wrap ($13 plus $2 for a small romaine lettuce salad instead of fries), I knew I wouldn’t be a happy camper. I know we are in the midst of record inflation but this was an extreme example of “Shrinkflation”. I guess between the “condo crowd” and never-poor Northwestern students, restaurants in Evanston feel “the sky’s the limit”. Not for me. I work for a living.

2022-04-03Really disappointing, sub-standard bar food. Not recommended for carry out. The chicken sandwich was decent but the rest was barely touched. Fries too seasoned and salty while the cheese curds were all batter. The worst was a $11.50 salad that was literally 2 cups of wilted kale and pre-cut (and browned) broccoli and cabbage straight from a Sysco bag… which was promptly disposed of into the compost. What a waste of money! This food is for soaking up beer and not much else. Just make sure you’ve had a few before you order.

2022-07-14My wife and I went yesterday for drinks and dinner. Overall everything was just ok, not great but not bad. Waitress didn’t seem to concerned about our being there and we generally had to flag her down to get refills, etc…
