Positive: Quiet, I heard nothing from the rooms near us or from the hall. For the price, it was exactly what I expected--a decent, clean room. We were satisfied. Negative: Beds were a bit disappointing and felt kind of cheap, but we were so tired after Six Flags we couldve slept on anything.
Unfortunately we had to check out after one night. The entrance to the hotel clearly indicated the neglect of upkeep. The smell alone was enough to make me regret the decision to save a couple of dollars. Its a shame how undervalued you feel as a customer when you see how owners are ok with the conditions of its establishment. Id only consider using this place if it was the last place within 20 miles.
Nice area, wendys across the road, and rate of the room is a good thing. room is less than average clean, manager had my credit card to hold the room, at 3 pm, he charged my card, which was not to happen, use my friends credit card for deposit, 50.00, never got the deposit back, manager makes up stories for the deposit and changes the story frequently,Tells us that he did not have my friends email address, was to send a video on the stained linen, it took over 2 hours and many phone calls,He tells me that 1,, he videos in the room, this upset me totally,2,, states that i had blood all over the linen and blood would not wash out,3 ,,,,blood on the linen and if stained, they throw out the linen and does not try to wash the stain out, unfortately, the blood was not all over the linen, it was tea with milk in the tea, if the manager tried to wash the linen, tea would wash outUsed towels under the bathroom counter, dirt in the corners of the room,Now, i know why the room is not cleaned, the cleaners take videos of the room and room number, instead of cleaning the room.
Noisey tenants, dirty towels, sticky floors in my room, aling with mirrors .during check in was charged and extra $50. Barking dog the entire 3 day i was check in. Dog & children horse playing through night & day hours. Experience horrible. Smho. Had my elderly mother with me as well.
This is a super hard review. I am basing the 4/5 stars on the cost of the hotel in the area of which its located and its competition. If there were several budget hotels in this area I would probably rank it lower. Given it is a half (or less) of the price of many of the other hotels in the area it is what it is. Customer service was top-notch! The $50 deposit was actually returned to me without asking approximately 3 days after stay. Beds definitely are worn. Room was clean - paint was chipped and the toilet ran non-stop unless you opened the tank to fix (we did this multiple times). Looked a bit safer than the Motel 6 down the road which you could definitely tell had many long-term rentals but I heard their beds were are much more comfortable from our friends. Bathroom had two towels mismatched and the shower looks like it could definitely use a deep scrub but other than that was clean. Water pressure and temperature was good. Conveniently located within walking distance of restaurants. Only 12 minutes or so from Six Flags. Interior of Hotel was clean and maintained.
Not very pet friendly. Owner came to my room and said he wasn’t going to but “someone” is going to call animal control if I leave the dogs in the room unattended and have them removed. I have well behaved senior dogs that may bark if someone is at the door but pretty much sleep all day. I missed two days of work because I had to wait for my office to open to move me. Never again! Room was filthy, bring your own towels because these were a joke and I’m tiny, I can’t imagine a normal sized person even attempting to use them. Fridge worked, microwave worked but the owner came to my room while I was already in bed and asked to check my room because he thought I was cooking. Get out of here creep! You can’t just come in anytime you please. Someone down the hall make a cup of noodles and the owner came to check all the rooms! Why have a microwave then.Bad owners, very rude with a hotel that is falling apart. Do not recommend
I love it here! I checked in for one night and half way through I added another night. The staff is amazing and friendly. The room is huge the bed is comfy there is a fridge and microwave. Very clean place. Great price too. I recommended everyone stays here when in town.
I highly recommend this place. The housekeeping did a good job of cleaning the room while we were out. The staff is very friendly and helpful and accommodated to our situation. I will definitely be returning here in the future if Im on vacation. I really appreciate them going above and beyond for my family and me. Very pet friendly as well!
Appears clean, but its not quite. Front desk was friendly and helpful though.Like I started this out, it does appear clean. The cleaning is definitely superficial though. There were hairs in the bathroom, and one on a pillow. There were indications of body fluids on a pillow. The floor was sticky, which we considered could be from cleaning fluid residue, but using a wipe on it showed it was substantially dirty actually. We cleaned the bathroom sink as well. The bathtub was dimly lit, but seemed clean - so thats good.In the morning, found out the front desk clerk was still having trouble with a personal item and yet remained friendly and helpful. I really think the only real problem is inadequate housekeeping methods, but that is an important area.
The price was affordable and room was well cleaned and large. The location is nearby eateries and easy to get to Gurnee Mall. There is a $50 refundable deposit that isnt collected until time of check-in when using 3rd party sites so expect that. Dogs stay free at Red Roof and me and my dog were placed on the 1st floor near an exit door that has a doggy station for waste bags and waste can. There is a huge mowed area that is well kept and side streets that I felt comfortable walking my dog at night. Im planning to stay here again next time Im in the area. The hotel is still not offering breakfast.
So they did just remodel before we came but I was amazed how quiet even being fourth of July weekend it really was there and the rooms were decent for being as cheap as it was! They dont have an elevator only down side that and no breakfast but they are close by to bk and such I brought my two kids with to go to six flags for weekend and they liked the room too had a lot tv choices and really good hot water ! Definitely would stay there again if I come back
Just a bunch of LOW-LIFE THIEVES!!! When I stayed there these past couple weeks I would renew the room every morning because of the uncertainty of the weather and the chance of having to shut down our jobsite and return to Ohio... The first night In the vicinity of Waukegan my crew and I stayed in Deerfield Illinois, which was great and only about 15 minutes from the job site... My employer came the next morning, went to the Gurnee Red Roof (because its closer to the job)and prepaid the week... The boss had my crew go ahead and check out of Deerfield and bring our things to check in at this dump!! The desk clerk at Gurnee actually called the Deerfield Red Roof and made sure we could check out very very late without penalty and got out of there about 2:45 in the afternoon, where check out is usually 11 AM..! So, when the Gurnee Red Roof needed our business they called and made all the exceptions to the rules for their own benefit, But on my last day when the high winds shut us down just before 2pm and I had to go check out and head home, no exceptions were made to the so called policy and they simply stole the $70 dollars!! Just a bunch of low-life scum and anybody reading this, do yourself a favor and DONT STAY HERE!!!Kevin
Rude staff, rooms were only cleaned once during my four day stay. On the second to last day the manager came into my room without knocking because he believed I was late checking out. I still had one more day, the entire experience was really embarrassing. For the price the rooms are exactly what you would expect, but the employees could at least try to make it feel like youre welcome here. I know at any other hotel after a mistake like the one that happened to me, there would of been some kind of comp, but nope nothing, just a very bad misunderstanding of when my checkout date was. Id rather pay an extra 20~30 bucks a night to stay somewhere where I would feel valued.
We had reservations to stay here for a naval graduation weekend. When we got there though, the signage for the hotel was so poor that we weren’t sure if it was the correct place (there was only a temporary red roof sign tied to one side of the building that would not be seen if driving up from any other direction). When we went inside, the manager was kind enough to show us a room when asked, but when he could tell we weren’t sure about staying, he started pressuring us to stay. Very strange, a little aggressive, and very uncomfortable. The hotel itself was not very clean and had the feel of a very outdated apartment building or dormitory. In the end, we paid a reservation cancellation fee and stayed at the holiday inn express instead. It was worth it. We would not have felt safe or clean sleeping at this Red Roof Inn.
My initial review was on the first night. Now that we’ve stayed two nights I can say this isn’t somewhere you want to stay. Housekeeping took dirty towels and didn’t give us more. When I went to the front desk he stated housekeeping said we had 3 towels already. There are 4 of us in the room. The towels are cheap and thin and don’t dry in their damp gnat and mildew ridden bathroom so yes we would like fresh towels.
I’m giving four stars because the quality of the room was good, the customer service was great and even though they don’t offer breakfast, they offer coffee and are very helpful! Sometimes you don’t need the extra amenities to have a good stay. There’s a fitness center and they allow pets :) They’re under construction/renovation right now so of course it didn’t look the absolute best. They are conveniently located in the middle of laundry mats, gas stations, restaurants and is a short drive to the military base. I would stay here again! Especially after the renovations!
Front desk clerk was very helpful. The rooms are outdated.I dont think the sheets were fresh cause i found hair and other dirt on the sheets. I was on the first floor and the curtains couldnt close all the way so anybody could peep through the window. I couldnt found an working outlet to charge my phone fortunately the night lamps had an working outlets. After an hour in the room I cancelled the rest of my stay and went somewhere else. They charged me for one night but I didnt care cause I wasnt going to spend the night here.
Wonderful experience. Customer service was the priority. Everyone made you feel important. Rocky was very informative. We stayed there for our sons graduation from bootcamp they offered shuttle service to and from the base. The manager was sure to check with us to ensure that we felt happy with the accommodations and service. Eva kept our room in great order each day. I wish that every hotel/motel that we visit was as good of an experience as this one.
The room and bathroom was very clean. The front desk very friendly and helpful. I had come in just prior to the grass being mowed and someone tried to go under their awning and took a piece out of it so the outside was deceiving. The wood look floor is great, as I hate carpeting in hotels/motels. I had dropped something behind the mini-fridge and moved it. Very, pleasantly surprized, it was clean. For the price, I didnt expect the Ritz.
I absolutely loved it here. Stayed for my brothers graduation from boot camp and they were very attentive. They dont have a pet deposit or a safety deposit. We brought our cat and they were ok as long as she was in the carrier while we were gone which was super reasonable. A.C. was Great, TV was crisp and clear, good location, price was Great and the beds were clean as well as the bathroom.
My daughter in law and I stayed here for a week for my sons graduation from the Navy boot camp. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. They helped us with everything we needed including direction around the area. The rooms are nice and have everything we needed including microwaves and refrigerators. It was quiet and I felt safe. I had never taken a trip so far from home without my husband before but staying here made it a very enjoyable trip. Im going to be going back to visit my son again and will be staying here. Thank you to all the staff for such an awesome job.
We reserved 4 nights for PIR graduation. The price was very inexpensive, but we DID NOT STAY even 1 night. The staff was very nice. Issues: Back door did not lock. Clearly people lived on the first floor. Bathroom was dirty.BED BUGS.... I called them to my 2nd floor room and showed them.We promptly left. Be warned.
The owners and staff are great but the walls are paper thin. The person above my room was apparently training for a marathon. He didnt sit down once and would switch between walking and walking around with an office chair.l. Conversations in the hallway are basically in your room. It also always sounds like someone is coming into your room although its just someone getting into their own room. You get what you pay for. Lovely service but subpar rooms.
When I woke up in morning I my arm where itching then I notice little red bug come off the pillow I stayed there before but what has happened this hotel is not what it was and there was and a medince cap under the bed and beer cap under the other bed this is not right .
By far the best hotels ive stayed at in the area! Front desk staff is amazingly attentive and nice and accommodating! You can bring your dog regardless of breed and not get any hassle from management.Rooms are clean, spacious and inviting. What really makes this my go-to hotel is the owner. Always greets you, takes time to learn your name, makes youre always taken care of. Treats his employees with the upmost respect!I can go on and on about this place but stay here 1 night and youll see for yourself!
We came to attend my son graduating from naval boot camp. The front desk attendant was very helpful with showing our room 1st, and informing us on graduation. They provide a shuttle to and from the graduation. Best to get to the 6:15 shuttle for those staying for their sailors graduation. The room was clean. Bed was comfy. They also allow pets. I do not like the fact we needed to take our puppy with us when left to go somewhere.
First off the gentleman at the front desk was awesome! He allowed my wife to check the room before we paid after having a bad experience with the Motel 6 Waukegan having Ants and other bugs in the bed. He was very courteous and explained everything in full so there were no problems once so ever. The room was nicely prepared and the price was unbeatable. Yes there is construction going on but it is no bother to me seeing I’ve stayed at Red roofs before and the rooms were just disgusting. If I am up this way again I will definitely come here first. I would highly recommend this hotel to family friends and anyone else looking for an amazing hotel.
Zero stars. a dump. bed was made with dirty sheets. hair in the sheets, brown marks on the pillow case. room phone was broken into pieces. moved to a different room that had a mouthwash bottle wrapper on floor, plastic cup wrappers and a black plastic bag on the floor by the bed. 11:02am housekeeping was banging on door for check out. housekeeper had an napkin of tortilla chips on her cleaning cart.. you get what you pay for but wow. terrible establishment. nothing like other red roofs.
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a problem with wifi and the desk took care of it right away. Staff was very friendly and great customer service.Walking distance to several places to eat. It doesnt look great on the outside, but it was all good on the inside. I would stay here again
Its great for the price. Rooms were clean and spacious. Clean towels every day. The staff was very helpfull. I stayed here for my daughters graduation from Navy bootcamp. They were very professional and excellent customer service. They offer shuttle service to and from the graduation. The owners and the staff were great. Will definitely be staying here again!
Staff is incredibly nice and and welcoming. For the price it is definitely worth 5 stars. Rooms do need to be updated, but I didnt mind because they are very clean. Located within a short drive from base. How many Red Roofs have you visited where the staff offers to assist you with your luggage? The people here are really wonderful.
Staff was very helpful and friendly. Location was close to 6 flags and not far from a large selection of places to eat. The hotel itself is very dated, not dirty, but very worn. Had no breakfast even though it was listed as an amenity when I booked. No hotel pool. As a place to sleep, worked perfectly well for the price.
Excellent! If you are going for Navy graduation ceremony they have all the information you need and will shuttle you to and from base even. There is staff available 24 hours and they are always very courteous and very helpful. Highly recommended for a cheaper place to stay as they have most amenities needed for a short trip. Plus they are remodeling and have freshly painted rooms, new toilets, etc. Perfect for Navy graduation weekend!
I have been staying here a little over a month. Ketan runs this place very smoothly. He has been awesome at making sure my stay has been great. Sonny also makes sure that I have everything I need. All staff have made sure to go out of their way to tell me if I need anything, they are here.Thank you all for such an amazing experience!
It was cheap for our two night stay, but it wasnt glamorous by any means. The room smelled like cigarette smoke despite it being a non smoking room, and there were mysterious stains absolutely everywhere. The walls were so thin we could hear everything from the rooms above us and on either side. The beds were okay though, no bed bugs in our room. The whole place is just run down and shabby looking, plus there isnt a pool. And No breakfast served in the mornings, which would have helped us immensely when waking up early each morning.
When you first pull up the First impression of the building is a little scary. Part of the roof of the canopy is broken/missing just makes the place look bad to walk into. The room was very nice and clean for the price..... however, I got in the shower the next morning only to notice the shower walls had a few strands of thick, black hair. There was also a large area of pink soap stuck on the ledge of the shower. It clearly had not been cleaned! Yuck! I would stay again but I would check the shower before getting in.
The absolute worst experience with this hotel while visiting my family. While staying here me and my fiancé has been harassed by the front desk manager. He was accusing us of smoking in the room and threatening to kick us out even tho we were not smoking in the room for sure ( I sure smell smoke in the hallways but not my room) Prior to that, I have booked an extra 2 night stay and he told me I don’t see my reservation and kick me and my fiancé out of our room with no where to go after I showed him my online confirmation for booking. This is the worst hospitality I have ever experienced while being out of town. Please do not stay here I recommend
The window in our room was sealed with silver insulation tape, the shower curtain reeked of mildew, and the elastic on the bottom sheet of the bed was shot, so the sheet came off the mattress in the middle of the night. The wi-fi is reaaaaally slow. The room was reasonably clean and the air conditioning worked well. Bring earplugs - theres no soundproofing between the rooms.
This was a good place to stay during sons Navy graduation. It wasnt crowded it was quiet and right on point for traveling back and forth to different locations. Only thing I missed was having a continental breakfast. I would definitely recommend it to Future Navy graduation parents or friends.
Hotel falsely advertised breakfast though staff claims they havent offered one for about a year. Initially refused to let me switch to a no smoking room (didnt even know smoking rooms still existed). Keys didnt work right away or at end of stay. Hotel was poorly kept. Then they gave our room & functioning keys to a couple who walked in on us at 2130 when we all were in bed. Insanity. But room was big and clean and cost was inexpensive.
The place looked nothing like the pictures. It seemed very dirty and did not have good quality. Also, it was advertised as non-smoking but the whole building smelled like cigarettes. We did not stay the night, and asked for a refund but still was charged $75. Lastly, the staff was very unprofessional. The desk staff had his hood up and was not in uniform. Avoid this place at all costs!!
This place is horrible! Stains on sheets, cigarette burns on the blanket, TV looked like it was from 1983, remote was broke and closed captioning was stuck on, lamp switch was broke by the night stand so you couldn’t turn on the light. Place overall is run down run by owners that obviously do not care. Surrounding area of hotel is very sketchy. Save your money and time. If I could give this no stars that’s what it would be!
Like many others each week, we traveled to Waukegan to attend the Navy boot camp graduation. We used a booking site to book the room. We read the reviews. We knew what to expect when we arrived. The property is not near new, but was more than adequate for the price and only about 5 miles from the base and an easy drive to get there. You will not find a more friendly and helpful staff anywhere. We needed to print out a travel itinerary for our sailors upcoming leave and they were very helpful in getting that done. So, if you just need a place to sleep that is comfortable and close relatively close to the base, this will work.
Not the best not the worst. Cold AC clean room however no cups no ice bucket hot water takes forever. Basically bed and a TV. No Wi-Fi password without cash payment. We were told our two dollars change from payment would be brought to our room and come the next morning of course he had totally forgotten supposedly. For the area its the beat place for the money. If you want to drive 20 minutes for those little things we were missing then book ahead. I
These guys are awesome! They accommodated our needs and were so helpful when we had questions. We were in for our son’s naval graduation and they provided directions to the graduation and also provided us with local restaurant locations. We would definitely stay again!
Positive: Nothing Negative: The hotel was too noisy I ask for a refund and the owner would not give me a refund I end up leaving in the middle of the night the owner said that the hotel is always noisy so that¿s why he¿s not giving a refund I would never stay in this place aga
First off.. room wasnt that bad. Clean. We were here for the Naval PIR Graduation. That being said... during out 6 hour drive home, the MGR calls me and accusing us of stealing a blanket and what they call a pillow.. which arent real pillows, they are little square throw pillow and informed me he is running my CC for $50! BS... THAT being said..the whole hotel is under renovation, which we were never told. We had to walk through paint soaked walls, carpets and worker blocking us at each and every entrance/ exit. Lets top it all off, we had our Navy Sailor with us on a few hour leave and got white paint on her perfectly cleaned and shined shoes as well as the new shoes I bought for graduation. We couldnt even open an exit door without getting sanding dust and paint on our hands. THERE WAS NOT EXIT to get out of this place without walking on paint soaked drop cloths and workers that wouldnt make way for you to get through. TOPPER... they were sanding and banging on the walls outside our door before the sun came up!! SO YOU WANT $50 for your blanket????? BBB getting a safety concern report from us!!!
I booked and paid for a smoking room 4 days in advance. When I arrived I found that they didnt have a smoking room for me. The desk clerk claimed it was because miscommunication from the 3rd party who I booked through (Expedia) but I believe it was because I arrived late in the evening and another smoking customer came along and was given my room before I got there. The desk clerk was unhelpful and almost belligerent. The next morning we were unable to sort it out with the manager because he was involved in an argument with another guest about him sharing her private information on the phone with a caller to her room. This place is badly managed and it shows.
In a cold chicago night room was warm and relatively clean with sheets replaced but no breakfast nor even a kettle to make hot water was the biggest let down for me. I know its a motel and that should set the expectation however if you wondered if there are hot water for tea or coffee available at night im afraid there are not.
I stayed there for almost 3 months and the service was okay-ish and the room was clean but the other guests are extremely loud and rude. Theres no peace and quiet at night time and parking is a joke. My brand new car was hit in the parking lot and the staff didnt even apologize and claimed that they couldnt let me see the camera footage for privacy reasons. They also refused to give me back my deposit back because according to them we always keep everyones deposit when they stay longer than the original check in date so in other words DONT plan on getting your deposit back when you check in. DONT plan on getting any sleep. DONT plan on having a place to park and DONT plan on staying in a safe drug free place. Just DONT stay there, go to the Ramada Inn.
You get what you pay for. Seems sketchy in some ways: there’s no real sign on the building, my heat didn’t work when I first arrived, and the guy checking me into the hotel was a little too curious about my stay (probably just trying to be friendly). But the guy came in and basically took off the cover to the heating system and wiggled it and it was fine. Also I got no bath towels, just the towels that looked like they were supposed to go on the floor in front of the tub
I stayed here a few weeks ago and went through an online booking website that charged us around $62 for the night. When we checked in, I was told to not use that website next time and to come directly in for a cheaper rate since the website takes a commission from the owners. I went here yesterday and the same person charged us $90 for the night and lied to our face over and over but it was so late we just needed a place to stay and agreed to pay. Dishonest management, dont let them lie to you.
This motel is hard to find, but once (if) you find it, its an older motel but very clean. The front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. In a very short time, I felt like I was a part of the crew. I even introduced the front desk clerk to my son who just graduated from boot camp. I would stay here again if I was in the area.
Upon check in the manager was rude and condescending. Tried to tell us his girls(housekeeping) needed to have access to the room every two days weather we were there or not. Then went on a tirade about clc immediately after. He was rude and didnt care about anything we were saying. So we get to our room and walk in and it looks clean on the surface but little things kept popping out to us. Building was constantly popping and creaking loudly. Could hardly sleep cause of it. The. Floor next to the bed was dirty as if nobody swept it. And even the lampshades were covered in a thick layer of dirt. And then we went to the bathroom. It was clogged. Immediately I go to the front desk and they have me plunge it. Within the night without even using alot of toilet paper. It was just all around a horrible stay. Had it booked for 5 nights and left after one
This Hotel stunk of cigarette smoke, the walls were very thin you could ear the television from the next room. The land lines in the rooms did not work neither did the internet or WiFi. the room I booked was not ready and the television was missing. The owner of this hotel needs to have a professional cleaning team come in and disinfect, clean, paint and replace all the fixtures and broken furniture inside the hotel, outside he needs to invest in the parking lot and the landscaping. I did appreciate the free shuttle ride to the Naval base for my nephews graduation.
When I got there checking in was easy they gave us the keys and later we found out they had connecting rooms we asked earlier and they said they didn’t . There was a hole in one of the covers on the bed and the mini fridge wasn’t cold at all . The remote didn’t work at first I had to call someone other than that my stay was nice ig .
Clean and they have smoking rooms although the smoking room I booked and paid for 3 days ago was given to someone else before I checked in.So if you book a smoking room here I would suggest you call every day or at least the morning of to make sure they dont give it to someone else.I was only offered a room close to an exit door. When I asked for compensation I was told its already a discounted roomNot many hotels offer smoking rooms so it was just disappointing to have my reservation given away.Oh and for coffee drinkers there was no coffee maker in the room. Microwave and mini fridge are here.
They allow pets which is pretty cool. Staff was friendly and accomodating. This place was hard to find though, not much signage and it is tucked behind a bargains in a box. Convenient location if youre visiting six flags. Check your room before settling in, one of our rooms had mold (you could smell it)and if we didnt say anything they wouldve let us sleep there
I guess I will start in the parking lot which is poorly light. Its actually behind a very small strip mall. You have to drive threw a checkers drive threw lane going the opposite direction of traffic. Theres a area where they have coffee across from the front desk. Theres a few tables in there and a poster picture frame for decoration, which is broken and hanging crooked. I checked in and went to my room where I found a dirty floor and a half a gallon of milk in the mini fridge. Only one button on the bedside lamp worked and the phone was also broken. The lighting is also very dim because it appears that they found the lowest wattage bulbs possible for the ceiling fixture. Another lamp has a cut cord which was spliced with what appears to be a repair cord from the dollar store. It has electrical tape and wire nuts. I found myself showering and standing in water a little above my ankles. The water is hard to adjust because it appears like they dont know what a scold proof fixture is. The pillows are extremely small,as if for a baby. I went to the Wendys drive threw next door and they forgot my spoon for my chili. The front desk couldnt even offer me a plastic spoon. They also dont have a single washing machine. If I could give this place a half a star I would have. It amazes me how Ive seen this place rated up to 3 stars. Safe travels to all.
Stayed here two nights at the end of August 2015 with my son, grand son and step son while on a fishing trip. The room had two beds but was set up for only two occupants. Had to ask for extra towels etc. both nights. The only staff we came in contact with was the surly teen aged desk clerk who was more interested in chatting with his Bro in the lobby than assisting guests. To add insult to injury, my credit card had two fraudulent purchases when I returned home. I cannot say they originated from my stay here but its the only place I used the card other than at the fuel pumps enroute to and from Waukegan.Avoid this place.
I know its one of the cheaper hotels ive stayed at, and I understand that not everything will be top notch. But when my fiance and I stayed in the honeymoon suite, the table was broken, just kinda standing by pieces. It wasnt bolted together or anything. Room kinda smelled, pillows are thin and flat, sheets arent very comfortable to sleep in. Definately not happy.
The accommodations are what you would expect for the rate. What we didn’t expect was the highest level of professionalism and willingness to make us so comfortable. We were there for the RTC boot camp graduation ceremony and You would think the staff was an extension of RTC Great Lakes. We would stay there again.
Horrible customer service! General manager is lazy and rude! Hotel smells like dog (its animal friendly). Will never stay there again, will be contacting cooperate . I wouldnt trust the breakfast I didnt eat it but I witness 5 men getting cereal at 10 @ night. They were dirty from working and they just stuck there hand in the cereal container to grab the scooper and got cereal 😑 nasty!
Low cost should not mean low quality The room should be at least cleanPlenty of dust stains in the carpet worn out carpets.Had a ground floor room with a widow that could not be locked ,damaged frame next to latch and when the wind blew it went right through, hate to be here in the winter!Time for a rehab but considering location might not be worth it.
Worst stay at A Red Roof EVER!!! The first room I was in had molded carpet and BED BUGS in it (I have the pic to prove it). The guy at the front desk was kind enough to upgrade my room; however, I needed to rest but I couldnt because at 2:45 am there was a group of people above me making so much noise that I thought the roof was caving in! I was finally able to fall back to sleep until around 7:00 am when the actual roofers came in and parked the trash bin right next to my window and started RIPPING ROOF TILES OFF AND THROWING THEM IN IT!!! Then I went to complain to the front desk (who were very apologetic) and noticed the entrance where I parked my vehicle was BOARDED AND BLOCKED...MAJOR FIRE HAZARD!!! 😡This was the first time that I had stayed in an older Red Roof and I wish I wouldve left after my first bad experience but I was desperate and my funds were low so I stayed. I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!!! 😡
Not very clean, refridgerator in room didnt work. TV was from the 90s and with volume all the way up you could barely hear it. Breakfast buffet should be used loosely....toast, banana, cheerios or corn flakes, coffee, apple juice or water. For the price not worth it!!!!
We attended a graduation ceremony for our son into the US Navy ... I had called several hotels in the area .. an got nothing but a headache .. they were ether full or one just kept making excuses as the why we could not stay for the 5 days we were asking for ... we would have had to find another hotel for two days an then return for the remaining days we were looking for ... not at Red Roof inn ... they had no problems booking us for the five days .. they were vary flexible on our check in time because we were driving all the way from North Carolina ... Robin was extremely helpful and vary respectful ... took the time to make sure he had my Email right the first time ... that means the world to someone who is traveling 900 miles just to have a place that would most definitely be ready when you get there ... no worries about your room being taken before your arrival like some places .... if I travel back to Illinois or send any of my family or friends up north to Illinois ... I will be giving them this address ... you have a super Walmart right down the road ... lots of shopping ... restaurants are available within walking distance if need be .. the area is clean ... we had an amazing time here at this location and the surrounding areas .. free shuttle service to the graduation ceremony is provided .. if you had or needed anything they were vary responsive to take care of it .... I hope to return just as soon as possible .... to visit my son and I will be staying at the Red Roof inn ... Thank you all for the services you provide us on such a short notice ... Hooyah to Red Roof inn

2022-08-03Terrible place to stay. Dirty. Used towels under the sink. Bathroom needs major cleaning. Floors and furniture disgusting. A little bit of tea was spilt on the bed. Removed for laundry. Accused that it was blood. Makes me wonder whether laundering of sheets even happens. Pay a bit more for a better place as your $50 deposit most likely will be returned. Expensive night for a unclean room and Head Office isnt any help.

2022-05-08Affordable hotel. We ordered two rooms. One of two keys for one always wasn’t working. They did installed hardwood but it was noisy downstairs. Also one of room doesn’t have coffee machine and another room didn’t refill cups and coffee. Staffs were friendly and showed us around and details how it goes to navy recruit graduation information.

2022-07-19They wouldnt let me get a room because my id was expired by 1 month. Even tho i had a room the previous week with no hassle. Im pretty sure they were discriminating because of my tattoos and piercings. The lot was full of people who were obviously high on something. Their customer service was horrible compared to the previous stay. Even tho my id was expired he said to put it on my boyfriends name and i did and then he denied me. And the customer service when i called to talk about my stay told me to put it in his name he then proceeded to tell me i was suspicious. I will never stay there again or ever even recommend it to anyone EVER.

2022-05-17Positive: The staff was friendly, and the hotel was clean. The location was excellent for visiting Six Flags, plus it was great having two fast food options so close (one literally in the parking lot, one just across a small street) so we could quickly grab food. Negative: In our room, you had to hold the toilet handle down for 30 seconds for the toilet to completely flush. The water also was incredibly hot- all the way to the left on the faucet was painfully hot, and even the middle was too hot for my kid.

2022-07-25Arrive around 4:30 on 7/23/22 and was waiting to check in. Over heard the desk staff confirming a guest to take an extra night on that day. When to check in.The desk clerk said, I did not have an reservation. I show him my confirmation number. He said, I need to b here at 3pm. They canceled my reservation because I was not there. I could not believe it. I have made hundreds of reservations over the years. Also stay at other Red Roof Inns( without this 3pm policy). This is the first time experience a guest must b there at 3pm. What if my plane was late or traffic was back up. B aware of this policy in Red Roof Inn in Gurnee.

2022-04-11Dont judge a book by its cover. I looked at the outside and the buildings surroundings and thought the inside would be run down and sub par. I was wrong. The rooms are very clean and very tidy. They dont smell old. Beautiful place. I definitely recommend.

2022-07-08Ok so from the neighborhood this place looks sus but I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and nicely decorated the rooms were. The staff was very nice and helpful. It’s a great place to stay if your just looking for a clean and affordable spot close to GA. It was a 10 min drive to GA. I had booked 3 nights here via Expedia for our weekend trip to Six Flags GA. I wanted something affordable and found this spot. When we pulled up my boogie husband was like “hell naw”. Since it wasn’t 24 hour notice we couldn’t cancel the first night so we stayed. They graciously canceled the remaining nights with no issues. I would have stayed if it weren’t for my husband. The water was amazing, super hot probably one of the best showers I’ve had at a hotel. The bed and pillows weren’t the best and I did wake up a little sore. But again it was not the worst and it was very clean. I would have given them 5 stars if it weren’t for the location.

2022-07-29WARNING: They may cancel your reservation for no reason! I booked a stay here for 3 days and was planning on checking in after finishing my day at Six Flags Great America. While I was on a rollercoaster, I received a voice-mail from them saying that they canceled my reservation. I thought that this must have been a mistake, so I called them and they told me that I needed to check in between 3 and 7 (it was 7 when they called), so they canceled my reservation because I chose the option to pay when I got there. They told me that it says the check-in time in the confirmation email. However, they never even sent me one and I could not find a check-in time anywhere online. I wound up needing to spend extra money for a last minute hotel because of this.

2022-06-10Positive: I stayed on the bottom floor (room 110) and it was clean and well maintained! Everything worked fine and there were no bugs to be found in the room. I slept very well on the bed and was very pleased.

2022-06-27Positive: Location Negative: The room smelled of smoke. The bed had weird colored stains. The coffee cup WRAPPED IN PLASTIC had liquid inside when I opened it to try to make coffee the next morning. The room above us sounded as if 10 dogs were running around.
