Ok, first: NO COFFEE!!! I mean no coffee in the room or at the front desk… Yes, I mean no coffee in the room AND no coffee at the front desk! No coffee on the premises. The incredibly rude lady at the front desk indicated that it was against her religion. I completely believe in freedom of religion, that being said, If I want coffee I can have it. So, please don’t impose your beliefs on me and keep me from having coffee in my hotel. I spend 40 or more weeks a year traveling, this is the first alleged hotel (much closer to a motel) that I’ve ever been to that did not have any coffee anywhere on the premises. I will never stay here again!Second: FLEAS! Yes, fleas! My room was infested. I stayed one night, I count 26 bites. I am out of here at 5 am. I’d rather sit in a cafe than here!
This is one of my favorite places to book when I’m out in the burbs. Even though the computer system was down this morning Diane was extremely accommodating and helpful with getting another night added on to my stay! I would definitely recommend staying here just because of the fact that it’s always a haste free stay with friendly staff and big rooms.
The one star given is for the front desk receptionist who was very kind & professional. The hotel/motel itself was horrific. It smelled of damp, wet carpet. Stains in the floor, the wall, and sheets. One of the pillow cases smelled of mens cologne as if it were never washed. Absolutely digsuting. I ended up leaving . I could not spend the night in this filth. Spend an extra $30 and stay in a well-kept facility that doesnt make u feel you may be attacked by bugs in the middle of your sleep. Gross.
When me and my girlfriend came here in the room that we got. There was bedbugs on the bed. As soon as the covers were lifted a bedbug immediately crawled out. When we had a staff come over all they said was “I’m not sure what to do nor how this can be. If you guys want you can go to the office and talk to someone there.” We went there and they gave us a different room. On the new room we got even tho the bed was free from bedbugs unlike the first room. The bathroom however was dirty. We got really fed up at that point. Asked for our money back and just headed to a hotel instead afterwards. We’re never coming to red roof inn at downer grove IL ever again.
Staff was pleasant and professional, my room which I extended my stay, had recently been updated. My GPS h a d difficulty finding. I called to the Red Roof to get directions I think if your staff does not know a 5 mile radius in either direction they shouldnt answer the phone. I enjoyed my stay and I would stay again.
A BIG THANK YOU!!! to Diane. She was truly a blessing and really helped me with a difficult situation. Rarely will you meet an individual who will say something to alter the course of your life in such a positive way. Above and beyond her job and as a human. Customer service skills were amazing. Thank you so much again for everything. I truly appreciate you. Just know you changed my look on everything for the better.
Property is below average, rooms are not clean. No customer service. We had a family emergency and needed to check out early and couldnt even find a front desk person to talk with. Two towels only in the room, we had to ask for more. Abandoned cars in parking lot, person washing linens brought her 3 children with her and they were running and screaming all over the property when we checked in after 3PM. A very disappointing experience and I would suggest you keep looking - there are lots of hotels around and we now know that convenience is not worth staying here. Well drive a little more and even spend a little more to have a clean hotel with at least somewhat nice staff.
Alas, this is not a good place and not good value. On the positive side I found the staff to be pleasant enough and helpful but the whole place has a decidedly run down feeling about it. The rooms are simply not very nice. The fixtures and fittings in the room were quite shabby, paint was peeling off the bathroom ceiling and the heating (which was needed) did not work properly - I was sitting at my desk with my coat on. This is not an expensive place so my expectations were not high but I have stayed in much better places for the same cost. Sorry - not impressed at all.
The prices are good and you get what you pay for. Has a small area under the stairs with a public microwave and vending machines. The microwave is barely cleaned. The rooms are mostly smoked in even though its a non-smoking room. The staff are always busy with their own life and never focused on the customers. It can do better. Mediocre at best.
Lala who worked the desk all 3 days we were there was wonderful..always called me by my name when I went inside, she was very friendly and nice. The room was clean and comfortable, plenty of water pressure and hot water. I gave a 4/5 because of the riffraff in the parking lot..there was some fighting going on and such and the hotel should have some sort of security to keep this at bay..otherwise it is a nice place to stay close 2 many restaurants and things to do. I would recommend staying here all things considered.
Rooms were filled with smoke, air conditioner barely worked, random guest knocking on doors of the other guest, and had a transit hotel feel. We had to get changed out of our room to be put in another room. The second room was smokey and just as bad. Will never stay at the facility again.
Decided to book this hotel for our girl’s trip and I was really disappointed. The pictures are really misleading. As soon as we entered the room, my girls said that this was a motel not a hotel. It smelled like smoke although we requested a non smoking room. Blankets were stained and beds were barely made as if someone just slept on them. Bathroom tub has yellow stains.. I tried to play it cool because I picked the hotel but I shared my friend’s feeling. The hotel rooms are outside and people kept trying to get into the room. I’m not sure if they were other guests or random people. Beds were ok to sleep but we all went to dollar tree to get pillow cases because no one wanted to rest their face on the pillows. And one of my girls complained about a pee odor where she laid her head. I gave 2 stars because the front desk looked appealing at least and the front desk manager let us use their printer. And the fact that the safe wasn’t working at first and the maintenance guy came and fixed it right away. I’m not even that picky about where I sleep when I am traveling because I spend most of the day outside anyway but I think it’s mad disrespectful to use stained blankets and sheets.
I would give this place 0 stars if i could. Someone went into my room and stole money and they dont have any security or cameras. They werent willing to do anything about it when i brought it to their attention and just said that they couldnt do anything. Ive been staying here for a few weeks and would have at least hoped they would comp ONE of the nights i stayed there after weeks of loyal business.
Clean, safe, in an location that has access to other places to eat. The staff is friendly. The cleaning crew gave a little less to be desired - we asked for additional towels and never got them during out three day stay. Shouldnt have to ask multiple times. Our keys also kept getting deactivated every day, which was weird.
Overall the stay wasnt bad. However upon arrive there was not any bathroom tissue in room. As well has towels. Also my business colleague had to wait 25 minutes to get her room because they were behind on house keeping. I understand that stuff happens. But still, plenty of rooms. Be prepared. Enjoyed the stay by the time we left.
The service is decent. Staff was nice and helpful when I checked in. The room had a smell, even though it looked clean. There are flies and other insects when I first got into the room. The bed was comfy and clean. They do not have fridge and microwave. Overrall, it is ok to stay for cheap.
The place needs lots of work. Some rooms the ceilings are chipping with cracks in the ceiling. Poor management and not hospitable except for Debra who works the night shift. She’s pretty much the only one who actually cares about customers and takes customer service to the next level. The day time office workers are pretty miserable with an attitude and will be knocking at the door at exactly 11am or will call your room ten mins prior. Majority🐺of the staff are very rude and this place doesn’t know what hospitality is. Rooms are pricey for a dump some beds will have you up all night because it’s so uncomfortable or you may get lucky and and get a good room with a comfortable bed to sleep in without the ceiling falling on you.
I experienced poor working air conditioning I ask to be moved to another room they did that after sitting there for an hour I notice it still was getting cool enough in there so I ask to get refund I eastold I had to contact Priceline.com where I book my room through So I did that wait for hours to get call back from them. And the meantime I went back to the offiice to talk with them then the manager walk in I told her my problem and told I would like to move down on the first floor and I wanted a room with a newer air conditioning unit in it. First she stayed she didnt have anymore rooms then she decied to go look to see what she had available which she decided to upgrade my room which work out. Cause I was very unhappy and frustrated with them.
The front desk associates are extremely kind and welcoming, especially Antonio. He demonstrated superior customer service today when I called and asked him to check on a cable that I had left behind in my room by accident. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable!
Room was dirty upon arrival. Bedding and chairs had food crumbs in them. Walking on the floor made our feet dirty. Supposedly the rooms are deep cleaned every 3rd day of the stay, but ours wasnt (and given that is wasnt clean when we got there, it wasnt surprising). A/C was nice, wifi was decent enough. Will not stay again.
On Travelocity this hotel has a 4 star and I cant begin to tell you what a joke that is. When we first walked in, we smelled a cigarette smell in a non-smoking room. We then noticed a brown stain in the bathroom on the wall. The bathtub looks disgusting and that is putting it nicely. I will definitely cross reference reviews the next time I book a hotel.
Everything was thoroughly average. Room was clean enough, cheap enough, and had decent WiFi (better than most Hiltons I have stayed at). Small, and not very luxurious... But the location was OK and it was half the price of most budget hotel chains. No real complaints.
I stayed there this past weekend and was SOOOOO DISGUSTED! The front desk guy was great and the check in went quick and smooth. As soon as I walked into my room the first thing i seen were roaches crawling on the floor, the dresses drawers looked like they had been kicked in and it smelled like an ashtray. I immediately called the front desk to switch me to another room and he did without any hassle. If it wasn’t so late i would’ve went to another hotel and not had stayed there because if they have roaches in one room, they’re more than likely in the entire building! Before I went home i had to shake EVERYTHING to make sure none came home with me. You all need to seriously fumigate this place!
They falsely accused me if smoking in my room said room smelled like smoke. My work jacket will make a little roolm like that smell like smoke. The manager verbally attacked me and physically and forceably took the room key out my hand. She was kicked out for actually was smoking. The crazy manager told me to mind my business took my card and said my room smells like like smoke and wouldnt refund my 140 Dollars I just paid 30 min before. I have heath issues its had for me to get around. She gave me 5 min to get off property and wouldnt iwas a frequent customer there until I met this woman. Ill never stay again and will keep anyone I know to go somewhere else. Never been treated like that
We had two rooms for 3 nights. Both rooms were clean upon arrival, although, one of the rooms did smell like marijuana. Not a huge deal though. The beds were comfortable, the water was hot. Check in was a breeze. We did have to ask for towels on the second day, but that could be because the staff looked in our rooms and seen that they had been thru a wind storm, lol. Overall, the place was very good. Getting in was a bit of a pain. GPS wanted us to turn right at the light, when in reality, you could go straight across. Good stay, fun times.
Horrible customer servie. Just called front desk cuz I have no remote ajd its stuck on redroofs main screen. Cant control by tv. Man at front desk tells me theres nothing he can do. Room smells like a dog ajd hair all in air conditioner. Im a regular. Like here all the time and its getting worse. Charging more for less. Could have moved me to different room. I dont sleep with out tv
It was passable. The room seemed clean enough but the light over the sink didnt work right. Also the decor made it feel very dated and the WiFi didnt really work. They only had one bath towel and no bath mat. I wouldnt normally stay at a Red Roof but this was my only option because all surrounding hotels were full. I now know why I dont stay at Red Roofs. It wouldnt have been bad for the base price of $61 but because the only room available had a microwave and fridge... That I didnt want or need. I paid over $100.
Very clean, had a horrible expierence with the people who stayed in the room next to me. Up all night partying slamming doors being extremely obnoxious. None of the staff was willing to do anything for me for the inconvience. Except for Deborah. She was nice enough to give me my money back since we had stayed two nights and stay here often. Otherwise no issues ever before.
I had the Superior Room which was okay but it is very date. And the heat setup would not completely heat the room. The desk or work station was great and the TV was just right for the room size. Wasnt my favorite choice for traveling, but for the money it was okay. Also keep in mind that it was right near the highway and you hear the road noise which could he a blessing or a curse.
If i could rate them a negative star i would!!! Keep driving right on pass the Nasty Roof!!! TERRIBLE HOTEL! NASTY ROOMS AND NASTY STAFF! Hotel is VERY dirty the management are very rude and very unprofessional. The rooms smell terrible furniture dirty, sheets spotted up nasty shower, sinks cracked and rusted, bathroom smells lights barely worked !!! AND all night the person next to me ran in and out of the room conducting illegal drug sell. I HEARD IT ALL!!!! I wouldnt recommend this place to a dead person! Save your money and go else where you may leave with bugs!!!
I specifically said no housekeeping for my 3 day stay. Im currently here came back to my room tonight park my car and notice my curtain isnt how I left it. Well they emptied my trash and didnt bother to place another bag. Its 3 degrees and the front desk said Id have to come get one. Nope your gonna clean the can. Sink is cracked. Tub has no stopper. Toilet lid definitely not clean. They took my hand towel and didnt replace it and didnt bother to fill the coffee so glad I stopped on my way back. And there was nothing to put in the coffee when I got in (luckily I have milk for medicinal reasons). Also the alarm clock doesnt work. This would be fine for 30/night but I will be speaking to the gm in the morning when I check out for a partial refund because this is unacceptable.
Great staff Ive never had any issues here with anyone, they dont mind going above and beyond to help you. I actually come here to rest randomly, Im a mom/wife and sometimes I just need to get away and sleep I love the beds and pillows its pretty cut and dry. The prices are very reasonable and worth it so Id say book it for a quick stay or an extended stay you shouldnt be disappointed. I also havent had any issues with noise which is super important seeing as though I come to sleep and drink wine and read books quietly when my mom/wife life allows. They have free Wi-Fi and hot coffee, tea and hot chocolate all day which I like as well. Theres lots of places to grab a bite on the way in and shopping near by for those who want to do things besides sleep, drink wine, read books and watch grown up movies lol.
Had a Very rachet expérience one in particular was julius he acted as if i wasnt welcomed with my dog because i had my dog and they supposedly dog friendly they never came to clean the room and when asked they got hostile he used other staff members to pick with me to get me to leave like one time he told them to tell me i been there 28 dys and i had to leave when i only been there 14th little did he know i was looking forward to leaving due to how i was beening treated i chose them cause of the price and location i guess what they say you get what you pay for is true a very stressful expérience they barely had guess as it is. But the rooms are clean and they have good wifi and there washer and dryer are reasonable and big
Well let me start by saying I got a lot of mold on the selling in the bathroom of room 157 I have pictures and video. The whole room smelled horrible because of that and I was with a 4 month old baby which its very dangerous to breath mold especially at that young age. There was no iron in the room the room was outdated and the mattress were 15+ years old. Upon check in I paid cash for my room and was charged $1.50 for the safe and was told them charge everyone and than they refund the money when you check out. I was given receipt without the $1.50 on it when I was checking out there were few other people who were complaining about the refund for that $1.50 and we all were told they will refund that amount on our cards. This is scam between the employees where they make extra cash this way each day. I will never come back nor will I recommend this place to anyone. Do yourself a favor and go to Extend Stay of America 1 min away for similar price but way better.
If I could, Id leave no stars. Ive stayed here a few times and every time Ive had a 1:30 check out. Again I requested a 1:30 check out and was told that was fine. I was there for 5 days. The room wasnt filthy but it certainly wasnt clean. It took 3 days to get an extra pillow. On day 3 I asked if I could have my sheets changed, I was told no. The day of check out the maid just walked in my room at 9:30am while my husband and I were sleeping. As we both sleep wearing only our birthday suits, that was particularly uncomfortable. Every hour after that someone knocks on our door. At 12:15 the maintenance guy(I believe his name is D) knocks on our door. He asks if we will be staying another day. I said no and we have a 1:30 check out. He says the paper on his clip board says we have a 1:30 check out but he just wanted to make sure we wouldnt be staying again. Check out is noon and I requested a 1:30 check out so why is the maid just walking into my room at 9:30am?!?!? At 1:28 when Im about to get out of the shower, my husband tells me the front desk is at our door demanding we leave now. Im in the shower so I have him tell them well be gone by 1:45. At 1:44(as Im collecting my belongings) the property manager Erica comes in my room and directs the maid to remove my things from the bed and clean the room. Im furious at this point. And now the maid is throwing my belongings on the floor...over 14 minutes...what a joke!!! The property manager is beyond rude and actually thinks her behavior is not only ok but is appropriate. Then she has the nerve to tell me she is putting me on the block list and I will no longer be allowed to stay at any Red Roof Inn location. Really lady? What is wrong with you?!?! Based on my experience and the recent reviews for that location, clearly the property manager Erica NEEDS TO BE FIRED! I contacted corporate and requested a refund or free night at a different location. They said it will be 48 hours before I can speak with the property owner and I will have to wait for them. After the way I have just been treated, that is unacceptable. This location has THE WORST MANAGER I have ever encountered and I will NEVER stay there again. Her job is based on customer service but she clearly has ZERO customer service skills. She DEFINITELY needs to be fired! For your sake, DO NOT STAY HERE!***UPDATE *** After waiting 72 hours and not getting a call, I contacted corporate to ask why no one had called me back. I was told that the GM(Erica) filed a false report stating that she had spoke with me directly and the matter had been resolved. Funny she says that since not only did I NOT speak with her at all, she NEVER even tried to call me in the first place. No missed call from her as I return all calls to my phone and no voicemail as I frequently check those as well. Sounds like Erica knows she was beyond wrong and is trying to cover her tracks by falsifying a company report. Perhaps she thought I would just go away but unfortunately for her, I WILL NOT just let this go and go away. She needs to explain why she thinks she can treat customers the way she does. After my encounter with Erica I felt as though she needed to be reprimanded. After reading the other reviews, I felt she needed to be fired. After finding out she falsified company documentation, perhaps she actually needs legal reprimand. What other documents have you falsified in your life, Erica? I hope her boss does the right thing and terminate her. Who knows how many other guests she has done this to.
This location promotes that all of the rooms are non-smoking. However most of the rooms assuredly smell like smoke. My room specifically was difficult to breathe in, but I dealt with it. Im not terribly picky with where I stay, but it is nice when the rooms are at least clean. My room had old plastic bottles under the bed, hair all over the bed and in the sink, and the toilet had dried urine all...ALL over the seat. The bathroom door handle was broken and falling off. There were cigarette burns on both of the comforters.Since the door doesnt seal completely, every conversation can be heard outside and highway traffic is very loud. This is a budget hotel however, and you get what you pay for. I chose a standard room to keep the price lower, but I wounder of the superiors are any better. I stayed at the Naperville Red Roof Plus, and though a little smokey [far less] as well, it was a vast improvement. Very clean and well maintained. However, I had a superior room. The only redeeming quality is that the hotel is near the mall and many other stores. As someone that stays in a lot of hotels, I can say Ill never be back here.
I am still currently staying in the hotel. I was only suppose to be here a week till paperwork was completed for our new home but it has gotten a bit delayed. The staff is wonderful, Ivette especially, is super helpful and nice. I dont want anyone else cleaning my room. For a short stay or a long the place is clean, close to restaurants, and the staff is wonderful.
Nice and clean place. Pretty far from downtown though. Staff was nice and helpful. Free coffee in the lobby. Washrooms are very small and the sink is outside the washroom which I didnt like. Plus the toilets flushing system is very weak. Other than that, it was an okay place for the price. Located in a bustling commercial area of Downers Grove so that was really good.
Worst stay ever at any Red Roof Inn. License plate stolen and tire flattened in parking lot. Drilling holes through the wall when Im sleeping. Disgusting, sticky floors. Another customer was given a room with a microwave and mini fridge and I was never even offered that, but could have used it. After speaking with the manager, she informed me that I needed to vacate the room by noon or I would have to pay another night. It was not in the budget nor the plans to stay again. I just needed to figure out my flat tire and stolen license plate situation, rather than do it outside in 20 degree weather. Why would I want to stay another night in a place where my stuff gets stolen and vandalised? place has gone way down hill. Its a complete dump. Ive stayed at over thirty locations across the USA including this one for over a month three years ago. Avoid it at all costs.
Nastiest hotel Ive ever stayed at. Had to clean my own room, management apparently gives out keys to random people so they can walk into your room while youre completely naked and takes no accountability for it, wifi doesnt work, staff are incredibly rude. Do yourself a favor and sleep in your car.
A little above average hotel, the shower heads are a little over 7 feet tall and with a nice shower curtain and plenty of hot water to take a nice shower, the representation on the inside was overall nice aside for the fact it was a little small. The beds were nicely made with no bed bugs, which is a great plus side when looking for hotels. It had great Wi-Fi connection even in the second floor second building and it had a amazing view of a Sakura tree. Buuut, the outside representation was not great with many pot holes in the parking lot. The staff was nice and knew her job but was kept busy due to them assigning one person making us wait outside 5 minutes in the cold, not the staff fault but the person assigning time management. Overall a great stay, looked nice nice housing with shower and beds, just needed a little modelling improvement.
Hello I booked a 5 night stay at red roof inn downers grove in Illinois and since Sunday night I have been calling the front desk. When I got in the room it smelled unclean we had no towels and remote had no battery’s. They gave us towels but we had to go to the front to get them.(they should have been in the room already) then I requested that the room be cleaned daily and the lady at the front desk assured me they would. Today is now Tuesday and no one has come to clean even though this morning we called and requested it. Today I arrived at the room after work and fell due to icy sidewalk small scrape on my wrist and my knee is tender to touch. When I got in the room my fiancé called the front desk to ask for more soap and towels and to let them know they need to salt the sidewalk the guy at the front desk said “y’all need to come the front desk and get it .” My fiancé then informed me he requested towels earlier today and the lady at the desk said they would be dropped off to the room no one came.Continued: My fiancé then informed me While on the phone about telling the front desk about the salt he heard him complaint that we always need something . When I got to the office he was on his phone and when I told him I was there for the towels he rolled his eyes and got up. I’ve spent a lot of money with red roof and the service always suck normally the rooms are clean but my feelings are really hurt.
The only lady at the desk couldn’t show respect for her company. I called her back 3 times because of her misunderstandings. She did not have the consideration at all. I spoke with her and she hangs up after i ask the question she just hang ups she was playing on the phone telling that there was a customer that walked in so thats why she hung up i told her she could have put me on hold it was rude because it was a lie. She has no coordination when it comes with holding the front desk. Totally rude and because of her rude ness i got mad that i could not get a room because i felt that her service wasn’t fully intended. I wanted to enjoy my birthday there but she ruined that for me
I stayed here June 12th and June 13th. I called a few hours after I had checked out to let them know I left my phone on the bed in my room. I was told that shifts had changed and a supervisor would have to check lost and found. They took my information and promised a call back the next morning, which I did not receive.I called back and was told nothing was in lost and found but they would speak with their housekeeping staff, do a thorough check of my room, and call me back. I had to give them my information a second time. I did not hear back.I called back for the last time and of course they had to ask for my information again. After doing so I was placed on hold and then connected to the girl I had spoken to the first day who said, No phone was turned in. That was that.Beyond the horrible customer service my room was unclean, sheets were ripped, and there were a few bugs gathered in one corner on the ceiling of my room. I am by no means a travel snob and rarely knock the Red Roof Inn because for the price its usually pretty decent but after this I will never stay in another.
I have stayed there before and had pretty okay experiences... it is a motel, not a fancy five star but was decent until my recent visit. The fridge, coffee maker and other daily use items were absolutely filthy. There were crumbs and smears. The bathroom had a pile ofdirt a bright blue scrunchy durinsitting on it. Poo stains in the toilet... it was gross but the cleaner murff still felt confident enough to leave a tip envelope requesting compensation for his thorough cleaning.
The staff are thieves they stole my wallet never leave anything not even if you need to go to your car. The room was dirty floor had not been cleaned. This has got to be the worst place I’d ever stayed in!!!! Please do not give this place your money you would be better off sleeping in your car. I also saw a mice run into a room on the first level
Pros(a) Tiara Rodgers – Very warm and bubbly personality, with engaging smile. She made you want to consider this location.(b) Dell Blaine – Courteous and amiable. A complete gentleman, who went over and beyond to locate my property.(c) Mini-fridge worked. Microwave functioned. Water in shower stayed hot.Cons(a) Brief summary – Clean-up employees filched/removed/misappropriated my white towel, ostensibly because it was ‘white’ in color, just like hotel towels mostly are. Never mind the fact that my white towel was approximately 3 times larger than Red Roof’s, and definitely of a much different texture.(b) Aforementioned towel was discovered soaking wet, mixed-up with other motel unmentionables. Perhaps I am finicky, but I am certain no one else would utilize such a personal item after it has been treated in such ignominious fashion.(c) Any lodging establishment worthy of its name would try to ensure guests do not concretize a very negative impression, formed mainly due to the motel’s incompetence. This Red Roof’s uncouth & uncultured ‘manager’ (Erika, I think her name was) spoke to me in a way that was manifestly ill-mannered, and seemed to imply that I was somehow at fault for the motel’s snafu because I brought a white towel for my personal use.Red Roof had always been my choice of lodging in my travels. I will look farther afield henceforth.
Yesterday was -5 degrees last night and the first room i had was 53 degrees and wouldnt get warmer. Went to get another key to anew room and girl said several of the rooms are having heating problems so IDK if itll be any better for you. But you can take the blanket off the extra bed cause its just you.It was stuck at 65I got a full refund though...I could complain about other things but that basically says enough
Called at 10am let them know of a request i had and was told no problem will do. The time of arrival 5pm there was not one room clean and the accommodation was also not available as the person courtney at front desk did not tell anyone. Check in is at 3pm no roo until 5:30 no discount or upgrade room offered as i booked threw expedia. The room was okay but smelled terrible like smoke room 216. Also, Long black hair in the bed and the man that cleaned the room had dreads so the hair came from a previous guest.
I made a reservation for here and when I went to check in the price I reserved was not the room I wanted. Then I checked into my room and paid additional 30 for fridge which was suppose to be included but was not...then my rooms ceiling was caving in and they switched my room but the new room smelled like smoke and wasnt even clean!!! The fridge does not close like it should and my food went to waste over night 😔This place is a mega dump...do not go here or you be sorry
Rooms are extremely spare, bordering on sketchy. Staff is asleep and/or distracted. King size bed is easily 30 years old and was a nightmare to sleep on. Bathrooms are casually maintained and extremely small. If I made more money at all, Id spend it trying to find a better place to stay.
The price was good, the internet connection was fine, and the room was very clean. My gripe was most of the rooms on the 1st floor were empty, but they would only give me the 2nd floor, the remote for the TV did not work, and the ice machine was not working. Not a big deal about the remote, the TV was 4ft from the bed, not crazy about drinking my water at room temperature,
Rooms seem clean and tidy. GPS directions dump you on the main road while the hotel is on an adjacent (but clearly visible) side road (just giving a heads up, this is of course not the hotels fault). This hotel is a 40 minute drive to Michigan Ave, 10min drive to the Downers Grove train station, where you can take a 53min train ride to Union Station.Wife and I felt completely safe in hotel room, but we give it a 6.5/10 on safety scale due to sketchy parking lot and outside access to hotel room. Overall, I think next time well just save up enough money to stay downtown in the city.
I spent 3 months on the property as an Assistant General Manager assisting the General Manager Dawn Hughes back in 2003.Lovely property, was located next to Hooters. The staff were friendly too Deller, Albert, Edith with the lovely long long hair, Paul, Andres etc. Then I was transferred to Benton Harbor
This was the worst hotel I have ever been to. There were brown streaks and hairs on the towels, pubic and dog hairs all over the bed, two large holes in the wall, no fridge, no iron/board, and spiders. I had an interview the next day and I needed to iron my shirt, yet I needed to call three times before someone came by with clean towels and just the iron - no board. The customer service my wife and I received was absolute trash, and there is no way I would ever dream of recommending it to others.
Its a cheap motel wasnt the cleanest but doable I only stayed because all rooms within 20 miles were booked! Someone was partying in a room nearby it smelled of strong marijuana and there was about 10 cops on the premises for the party! Never again will I stay in a red roof inn
This place is a dump! Toilet didnt drain properly. Told desk in the morning. Nothing was done about it. Next evening told they could get me a plunger, went to dinner, came back for plunger, they couldnt find it. Only good thing they gave me a king suite room in place of mine. Floors are vinyl and seem to be coated with a weird grease or something. Poor grounds keeping, more snow could have been removed after the first attempt. Theres a van sitting there with a tarp wrapped all around the top covering the windows. It was there 1 month later when I passed by again. A pickup with the bed full of garbage bags and so was the cab. This looks like someones flop house. I doubt I would ever take a chance on a Red Roof Inn again. Stayed at Econolodges that are much better.
Dont really write reviews but we all agreed its the right thing to do. Never would expect a place this dangerous to exist in this area. The manager who came to fix our lock was obbiously drunk and not long after we got inside we heard noises and when we looked out we saw him fighting someone. We called the office but they just told us to lock the door. That was enough to make alarm bells!Once the violence stopped and we felt safe to open the door we left and called home. I was so scared, as in my parents called our lawyer scared. Whats even scarier is when my mom called the next day the two people on the phone showed no real concern and just acted like it was a missing pillow or an unfolded towel
Very tired Red Roof! Had major issues with my room #157; Front desk specializes in lip service and unkept promises for comp$$. Book here if you like the sound of the highway, as the place is sandwiched between the tollway and another busy road (Butterfield). I have had decent experices at other Red Roof locations, but i will never book this one again!
Couldnt believe how great the rate was for the location! And the staff is super nice!--Every hotel needs a Julius at the desk lol and the maintenance man Alan even cleaned the snow off our cars. I travel a lot and no where has EVER done that before! Thanks Red Roof great place to stay!
The room itself isnt too terrible. But the customer service ar the front desk is less than satisfactory. The employees seem to have attitudes and dont allow the customer to express themselves without interrupting. They treat the customer as of they are in inconvenience.
This is THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL hotel that you can possibly stay in. ERICA the General Manager is equipped with NO knowledge of what it means to be in charge of a hotel. She has an awful attitiude. As a guest coming in for a conference , as well as, my other colleagues, we were treated horribly. The toilets in the rooms were not working properly and housekeeping would knock on yourdoor several times in the morning asking over and over if you were checking out, which in turn ruined our rest. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK A RESERVATION AT THIS HOTEL IN DOWNERS GROVE UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY.if your looking for a Red Roof Inn to stay, try their sister location in Willowbrook, which is only 15 minutes away. They have EXCELLENT ROOMS AND SERVICE for the same cost. Happy travels.
If I could give less then one star I would. After being told I could get an early check in, I drove in from out of state only to be told I had to wait another hour. After driving in circles on thanksgiving day I dropped my things off at my room, brushed my hair, and in a rush to make it to family dinner - I did not give my room a full once - over. After returning , exhausted from my drive and a day of activities I laid on a bed which was caving in. If I took my hands to squeeze the mattress together it would have been about two inches. I called the front desk and requested a refund.. explaining not only this simple issue, but the fact the walls were patched up, caulk falling off the bathtub, room poorly cleaned, and the bubbles on the pain from where water clearly sept in. Since I had booked through Expedia, the man who came to inspect my room said that I would have to call them, he also stated that I would have had to report this problem days prior during my original check-in.. confused, I asked him what he was talking about and he said I checked in on the 23rd which was a few days ago and I should have reported the issue then. I politely said that today was the 23rd.. explained to him I left in a rush and didn’t get a good look at the room and that is why I am now calling and if he didn’t believe me he could roll security footage, again he tells me to call Expedia to have it taken care of. (Mind you this is 10pm and I’m exhausted) I Call Expedia and they contact the front desk. They deny the request. I walk up to the desk with Expedia still on the phone asking for an explanation as to why I would be instructed to call a company to request a refund when they had no intentions of authorizing it. I then ask if I could have a refund for the two other days following and simply pay for tonight, since it’s already late, and go on my way tomorrow so that I don’t have to stay in a hotel like this SIX MONTHS PREGNANT uncomfortable, exhausted, and aggravated by a rude staff. Instead of offering to switch rooms. They hand me a business card and say Call in the morning. I told them I’ve already dedicated the past hour to this issue and I would like it resolved, I also asked why they would want someone clearly unhappy on a holiday to continue to pay for a room without being accommodated to another room. He said he could try to do that, THEN proceeds to tell me I would be locked into the next three days if they switch rooms. I said I wasn’t willing to commit to staying the full time with such a nasty room to start off with. He then said him and I were getting no where and I needed to call the number and leave.
We went out for dinner after dropping our things off to the room. Our door key wouldnt work the first night after walking to the receptionist desk like 3 times, with our things locked in the room. Then they finally gave us another room and had 2 figure out how to get the door open 2 get our things out. It was cold in the room even with the heat on 85. When we woke up the next morning, our bathroom smelled like dog, probably because the toilet leaked onto the floor from the base not being tight enough. Other than that it wasnt bad. I think we just had a series of unfortunate events. Lolbs
To much noise and it’s annoying everyday I gotta wake up at 7:45 am to hear carts rolling around like someone is getting trampled on and that’s deplorable when people have work or school and just in general and every day living activities it’s ridiculous that they have to come in every three days to see what you’re doing and clean I think it’s against privacy it makes me feel not safe makes me feel like I’m being targeted this place used to be good I lived here my whole life. You have drug dealers an staff that harass you and talk to you like ur trash .
Room in itself very Decent especially for the price the location itself is Amazing literally next to everything you could want or need! Office Staff was very pleasant and accommodating Night or Day Shift the only reason not 5 stars is because the housekeeping staff is definitely not the best and inconsistent some are ok some not good at all!
Cops there all the time catching hookers i have read about read about this place in the downers grove reporter, maybe the hookers got the hint and moved their trade elsewhere. Would not get caught dead in this flea bag way too much activity going on . Cops doing excellent job .the village should shut it down permanently. Do not stay there go to the double tree down the road more money but much better motel/hotel. And no lot lizards there.
They stay was good however two of the nights the internet went down for the entire night. Which was really annoying as im a student. Otherwise the rates were really good for the weekly stay and the front desk was really nice. I dont really have any complaints except for the internet
From the moment I checked in there was rudeness from the front desk guy Julius and the manager sits in the back laughing on the phone all the time the front desk clerk Myra struggle to assist me and my family while other guest waits. She finally comes out and now I see where julius gets his customer service from she was just as rude as he was..I was placed in a bed bug infested room, I will never in my life again..
Housekeeping man BANGING on my door after I told them I have late check out. Came back 3 times BANGING and yelling. I amn a nurse who had worked all night, could not get any sleep. Finally went to office ans she gave me awful attitude. I stayed here often.. never again.
If you are planning on coming here to sleep, wake up early and spend the day visiting Chicago, go for it. Room was very clean. A little noise at times but very clean. It is 40 minutes from downtown. If you want to fully enjoy your stay, you can get a 3 day pass for the chicago public transportation, park your car at the Forest Park Transportation hub (15 min) from hotel and take the blue line downtown.
Beware****This property is not safe, clean, or customer minded. The other reviews that reference how dirty the rooms are, are not lying. The flooring the carpeting the toilet even the walls were disgusting (as in not cleaned at all).At Red roof you don’t expect fancy accommodations but at the very least you expect the room to be clean.
Staff was very friendly. My only complaint was the dryness of the air in the room. I stayed in the nonsmoking section of the hotel, but there was something in the air that caused my throat to become scratchy and dry, being that I had an interview the next morning it was very unpleasant.
Would of been a lot nicer if you guys would read the do not disturb sign , left a small bag of trash by my door for hotel service instead of them having to come in and clean my room instead yall wake me up to tell me I left my trash out side well do yall job and pick it up . Its funny that I got a tip your maid sign in here well guys there is your tip.
This place is filthy I have pictures of mold and bugs everywhere inside the building curtains with blood stains They are just pure filthy I will be helping my friend find a lawyer since they told her you get what you pay for. But it is very unsanitary and will be reported to the village as well as osha
I wish I had an option for 0 stars. I was here four days and meanwhile thare was no house keeping. I was throwing out my trash by myself every day. When I call them for the clean towels they told me come and take them by myself on the front dask.... I will never again stay at this motel.
Omg, Im so grossed out! I just checked in and when I get into my it was ok, but the toilet kept running. The thing that grossed me out was when I climbed into bed and went to cover myself up, the top blanket had dry white crusty stuff on it and also had dry bloody boogers. I checked out of my room immediately
Erica Terry is an excellent general manager Brandi has an excellent assistant general manager shes over housekeeping all the employees along with the guest make this an enjoyable experience friendly atmosphere hard-working team of individuals competitive rates also have a points program where you can earn yourself free nights check them out dont forget join the Red Roof and membership and earn free nights its totally worth it great place for animals that do not charge a fee non-smoking property centrally located in Downers Grove exceptionally safe
Never stay again the new manager looks she never work with ppl very rude she discriminate me because I am black she didn’t respect as guest she let out lots customer way she doing work I don’t think it’s gone work she did let employees out I hear saying go leave take yr stuff never go back corporate has to look at very bad she doing racism should everyone treat same way
Bad as usual. I would have hoped that things would have changed after some time but unfortunately it was not the case. Having 3 people behind the counter. One who claims to be named Brittany. Talking about her new move, showing pictures playing music/videos off their iphone is extremely unprofessional. With also having a new guy there to carry on these lackadaisical ways. Brittany was rude to another customer as I was writing this because of language diffierences. I DO NO RECOMMED THIS LOCATION DOWNERS GROVE under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! Since I have to use stars to post I would give it less than a 1.
Hello it was horrible in a way we payed 89.00 dollars cash cause we had a small cat and their bathroom tub was with mold in their corners of the tub and theres no refrigerator and freezer no or anything and no microwave either after we bought food to microwave we then had to throw it out cause no microwave either or nothing really and truly the old man was a very unpleasant Man but oh well good luck for those that want to rent thank you

2022-03-13BLOOD ALL OVER THE WALLS IN BATHROOM AND MANAGEMENT REFUSED A REFUND. Room smelled like cigarettes even though it was no smoking. Went to office to get refund and the woman at the desk had no idea what to do. She tried calling the manager and he never answered. She told me she would have him call. Never called so I’ve called 4 times and have gotten the run around. Contacted hotels.com to get refund and was told the manager refused to give me a refund. The most unprofessional hotel I’ve ever been to. Stayed at the best western down the street. Would recommend the same or sleeping in your car.

2022-02-25Room Space is very Spacious, A hotel Staff Member Debra, “omg the sweetest staff of the hotel.” The only downside which is the staff that works afternoons is one of the most Dry, Blunt, or rude staff for costumer service. The General Manager of the hotel is very understanding, he is more understanding than the Shelter staff even. When you come in to Red Roof Inn Of 60515 area code, you have a shoveled sidewalk to the lobby. Other than what was said I would recommend this hotel to anyone local or out of town!

2022-02-20This place is disgusting. My “smoke free room” stunk so bad of cigarette smoke that I got nauseated and had to pay for another hotel for the night, as the staff refused to give a refund. Everything was dirty and even the sheets smelled like smoke. Also, the rude front desk staff weren’t wearing masks, as they stood right behind a sign that insisted masks were mandatory. DO NOT STAY HERE.

2021-10-11They made the backside of the hotel into a homeless shelter. Cops are in and out all hours of the night. And the people that are upstairs and on the backside of our hotel room were up all night stomping around on the floors and being loud and obnoxious. Unlike some people, some of us are here on business not leisure. The room has a musty smell. The girl at the counter that checked us in was really nice.

2021-08-20I stayed here because I was on a work trip. The first room I was given had blood all over the night stands next to the bed and on the lamps. I talked to the front desk and they immediately apologized and changed my room. They were very accommodating and polite. The 2 stars was because of my initial room and how grossed out I was after that. My job at the time booked this location for me.

2021-04-15Rooms really aren’t that bad. It was clean when i walked in and definitely didn’t have a bad smell to it, although the room was a bit small the price is something you definitely can’t beat! I love the fact that they’re pet friendly and free of charge! I would definitely stay here again.

2022-02-13For starters there is limited space for the average stay because the building/Motel was bought out by DuPage pads which leaves many undesirable people and elements. And services are very very limited

2021-03-14The sheets were not washed from the prior people who were there before us. There was public hairs and blood on the sheets. The place has bed bugs on the beds. They do not clean or disinfect. I was so tired when I got there but so disguisted when I saw the bed sheets. I jumped back in my car and slept in there with my husband. There cheap but Id never go back there. Id rather pay more and get a nice clean room and be able to sleep before I have to go out and drive again. I wouldnt recommend this place to no one! Absolutely disgusting 😤!!!! I would give 0 stars if I could.

2021-06-21The place was disgusting. The outlet The ac was running with, wiresnwere coming out of the wall. Yeah thats safe. Then to top that off they didnt even have a smoke detector in the room. That was pulled out and wires were out seen a couple bugs walking around. Went back to the office within an hour or so and wanted to get a refund. Nope. Didnt get my full refund. The manager says I need to contact the gm. Did that this morningand i guess she thought I only needed an hour of my husbands time cause she refused to refund my money. She says the bed was used. DO NOT COME TO THIS LOCATION.
