Great staff had no problems with them all. The store is very disorganized. (I dont just blame the owners I blame people for not putting back records and things they pick up where they belong.) Records from all eras prices are good even found some collector records but youll be paying a price for them
Every time I visit Springfield I stop here, as you never know what musical treasure you might unearth. The place is dimly lit & cluttered, chock full of cds, lps, tapes, movies, posters, stereo equipment, and untold bric-a-brac. My wife unearthed a glass cake stand while I gleaned eight cds (new & used) of rock & blues. Had I more time, patience, and money, it could have been much more. The owner & staff are knowledgeable & helpful, never pushy. Dont let the shabby ambience keep you away--this is a rare treasure. Its a shame I live 14 hours away! Okay, maybe not; any closer and I would be bankrupt!
This is the best record shop in central Illinois, period. The staff are real people, (NOT snobs), who are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The selection is massive, yet they are always willing to order hard-to-locate items for me. Thank you, Recycled Records, for always making my day groovy!
Recycled Records is well known for having a bit of everything. as their name implies, they mostly deal in used vinyl, but have music in all formats, including reel to reel tapes. They also have loads of videos; old, but working audio and video equipment; t-shirts; jewelry, furniture and a little of everything in between. The owner and sales people were attentive and helpful. Even though there is tons of stock, they seemed to be aware of what they had. Prices are excellent.
Reopening August 29, 2020 8:00am hurray! This is not a record store it is a destination! What a gem of a location to find just about anything you can think of and Mark and Gary seem to want to find it for you if you do not see it! The best vinyl collection I have ever seen in my life. I found old comedy albums I love....thanks for the help and keeping this place alive....you have to go to the second floor to see it all!Dont forget to click like if the review helps
Great place to browse if you’re a vinyl collector. They have thousands of LP’s upstairs in all genres. I always come away with a stack for my collection. The staff is knowledgeable and the place has a cool vibe to it. This is the premiere spot in Springfield to buy vinyl.
Came into town to visit my girlfriends family and she took me to this place, HUGE selection. Everything was neatly organized and very easy to sort through. I bought numerous records (Allman Brothers Live at the Filmore, Filmore the last days triple box set just to name a few) everything plays through perfectly with no skips and the box set came with poster booklet and 45. everything was reasonably priced. The staff was honestly friendly and extremely helpful. One of the guys gave me advice on when to catch the new stuff that comes in and the other held on to our stuff so we can go grab some food and come back, very much enjoyed record diving here and will be back many many more times, thanks guys.
Absolutely wonderful place, you never know what youre going to find. The workers are incredibly awesome. Hands down the best record store Ive been too, the whole upstairs is just bins brimming with records. When you go be ready to have patience and time to go through them. I frequent here often, and still never get sick of it.
One of my favorite places in the universe.LARGE collection of vinyls, CDs, cassette tapes, and genuine antiques (I personally go for the cassette tapes bc I was a 2000s kid). This place is very old and unique, has a great vibe- especially with the employees and owners who are always very friendly and knew how to help. I bought several cassettes from them and I have been happy with every purchase. Their prices are reasonable (especially bc I’m poor) and have this HUGE sale every February so if you’re in town during that month, I highly recommend! They also have an online site if you are looking for anything specific. They respond fairly quickly and are very easy-going people to talk to. I love the chill dude with long hair that works there. One time I asked if they had any Queen cassettes in stock and found out they didn’t but the guy came back with an email saying “this very opinionated record store employee recommends the following:” and gave me a list of his favorite albums by Queen. Friendliness with humor? Yes!I come here so often they’d recognize me the moment I walk through the door with cassettes by either George Michael or U2.Recycled Records has a very special place in my heart 💛💛
This place has a TON of inventory. Lots of great treasures are buried under the extreme excess of items if you are willing to take the time to dig. The employees are friendly and dont make you feel overwhelmed. The problem is the place is filthy. Literally cobwebs and piles of stuff covered in dust. Bugs all over too. If you dont mind the grime it is worth a look.
This place is run by some unprofessional and daft men. They’re rude and everything is way over priced. I would never choose to do business with them because they don’t respect the person. They have delusions of grandeur and will make you feel minute any way they can. Terrible business and terrible service.
This place...I could spend hours here.It has been around for quite a few years with minimal change.Want vinyl? They got it.Want cds? They got it.Want cassettes? Yep, they got em.8tracks, reel to reel, laser disc, betamax...you get the idea. Plus, the players for these and more! Antiques, furniture, kitsch...the list goes on. I think the only thing you wont find is food or automobiles and that may be just on Tuesdays.Locals...support locals.Visitors...this is a landmark like Lincoln. Check it out.
This place has everything. Jewelry, servewear, collectibles, posters, books, magazines, neon signs, art, cds, cassettes, 8 tracks, records, furniture; it goes on and on. The staff is friendly and the prices are fair. You could spend hours and not see everything! Dont miss it if youre in town!
This place should be Recycled First things first. This is not a good place to sell used cds and electronics. I went in with about $300 worth of stuff and not even at retail value and they offered me $35.00. I kind of chuckled and then told them I wanted to just buy a cd and keep my stuff. I have been here a few times and they do have a pretty decent cd selection. But the staff usually was always overly greedy or just plain rude (seriously.) There were a couple of trolls floating around passing signals (maybe cheap security) This was totally obvious. Lastly I was rushed to buy a cd. I didnt let them force me to rip myself off there so the guy made sure I got out of their quickly to find my cd and go. Hovering over the other end of the glass shelf staring at me with impatience. The guy at the checkout was really wanting one of my cds because of its quality and rarity. $2.00? I said no thanks and then he tossed my cd I purchased swiftly on a hard shelf beside the register which I am pretty sure is why my cd case was half broken on the opening corner when I opened the cd when I got back in my car. I promised myself to never go back there again and this will be a very easy promise to myself to keep
A wonderful dinosaur of a store, a dying breed, a flickering light still glowing in this new age digital world. This is not a hipster record store, albeit you will see hipsters out of their comfort zones perusing bins on occasion. This is a absolut no frills Music-LP-CD-Junk Store-Vintage Stereo Shop-Flea Market-Antique Shop on STEROIDS. I would guess over 100,000 Cds and 50,000 vinyls. All Cds are downstairs, All Vinyl upstairs, except new arrivals and stuff >$30. You will see all kinds here, street people all the way to politicians. A real nugget in the middle of a decaying city center. If from out of town and staying at one of the nearby hotels, YOU MUST GO HERE. They truly do have something for everybody. You can go upstairs and look at records for hours....basically undisturbed. They do have a listening station, but it is downstairs, so you will have to carry your finds down if you want a listen. They do have 45s inconspicuously located in file cabinets, one by the front desk, of rare singles, and one file cabinet full of them next to stairs as you go up to LPs, which are right next to the vintage nudie mags, Watchout kiddies! Places like this will not be around long, do yourself a favor and experience them.
So I understand that old buildings collect dust but damn this place is just filthy filled with filthy items - The whole store smells - no it reeks - and they really are way overpriced on allot of things - Cds are cheap - I wouldnt know about records - Once I seen the old porn mags laying out in the open all nasty and dirty I was out of there - The employees looked like they were on water rations - When I seen what I think was the big boss I nearly had a heart attack - Seeing that much rank on single person is enough to make you cringe - I am shocked at the filth and high prices - and above all - not a single employee acknowledged my existence entering or leaving - I swear it was like a stank fest of filth - and every attitude of each employee there that day matched their filth with their equally grumpy attitudes ..... I immediately went home and took a bath - I will never risk that filth fest again -I have been to Memphis and seen some holes in the wall but this is just a dive - its a shame no one will do anything about this place being such a embarrassment to downtown - Its not hip - its just plain and simple filth -

2021-08-06I have heard about and seen this business often in the ten years I’ve lived in Springfield but had never been there until today. I even hear the Friday morning radio bit often as well. Alway seemed like a sincere and easy to deal with business owner. I found out today that was spot on. Went in with two boxes of old 79s, 33s, and 45s. I feel that not only was I treated fairly the conversation was open, honest and friendly. Though I had secretly hoped I had a vintage gold mine, which I didn’t, I somehow still felt I left a better person for having been there, met them and experienced this local spot. Thanks for your candor and help. I enjoyed the visit. God bless you.

2021-09-07This is a storied business in downtown Springfield Illinois. It has an eclectic variety of merchandise. Everything from historic jewelry to a vast array of music that is available in multiple mediums. If you are spending 10 minutes or an hour going through the store you are likely never to get board!

2021-10-07Always a fun place to dig for records since my first visit in 2004. Some prices are ridiculously high, but not necessarily on everything. I do wish they would stop with putting price stickers on the dead wax area of LPs to correspond with the price on the sleeve. I assume its done as an anti-theft measure and to prevent people from switching like records with different conditions and pricing into sleeves with cheaper tags. The stickers are removable, but its always a minor pain to get all of the stickers adhesive residue removed. That stuff isnt good for your stylus. Thats the main reason for a four rather than five star review.

2021-09-18Was hoping they would have the new Iron Maiden: Senjitsu on cd, and they had it in stock. Picked up a couple other cds and a movie as well. So, I got 3 cds (one of which was a brand new release) and a dvd for $30.73. Good bang for the buck.

2018-11-24Went there on Black Friday. Very friendly, chatty and knowledgeable owners and employees. They let us wait inside for 30 minutes which was really nice and had free coffee, donuts and fruit (courtesy of Hy-Vee). Quite a large inventory as usual plus lots of other interesting items. If you are looking for vinyl and other interesting stuff, you are sure to find something youll like!
