Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. There is always someone willing to answer questions if you have them, but not pushy at all.They have a wide variety of healthy foods for our dogs and cats. They also carry quite a bit of stuff for fish & tanks.

Super friendly staff, nice selection of fish as well. Didnt feel rushed or ignored during my visit. Went in for snails and shrimp for our existing tanks and ended up leaving with those and a Fahaka Pufferfish. Did I need him, probably not. Did I want him after he tried to bite my fingers through the glass, absolutely.Lots of unique and fun aquatic species, would recommend their shop to anyone looking for something fun.
I was looking for treats for guinny pigs. A salesperson showed me and they were very helpfull.
The guys in here are always so knowledgable and patient. They have a pretty awesome selection of fish in their badass aquatic cave. The store is always super clean, and I always leave here feeling super confident about my aquatic purchases. (Theyll also test water samples if you bring them in)
Decided to update my review for covid. Covid update: everyone wears masks, keeps things clean, and tries to keep a physical distance. its clear they are taking their own health and that of others seriously. Still just as helpful, still as friendly as ever.They always a great selection of fish, usually in good health. Everyone who works here is super helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. if the person you are talking to doesnt know something they will find someone who does. Wonderful place to shop!

Why would you ever go to a big box pet store when this family owned gem is right next door?! Premium is a wonderful place! Same consistent, knowledgeable staff, following CDC guidelines for COVID-19, very friendly and the pet food savings program of buy 6, get 7th half-off is a no-brainer. Great selection of raw/human grade food and treats, as well as wellness and toys for any kind. We love Premium Pet Supply!

Staff is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. My dog is a bit of an odd shape so buying harnesses online wasn’t practical. They let me bring him in and try the different options until we found one that fit. Food selection is great. Seems like anything I need they already have on hand in the store.Coupled with the fact it’s local and family owned, I don’t think I’ll be going anywhere else from now on.
Best local pet/fish store in the area. Definitely worth a visit. Fish go fast, so best to show up on Tuesday or Friday when they get shipments. The main 2 guys working all the time are always helpful.
Helpful staff!! Locally owned. They offer a wide selection for cat and dog foods that you cant find at other big box pet food stores. Excellent selection of fish, all tanks are clean and fish look healthy. Pricing isnt competitive but they offer frequent purchasing cards, which earns a discount after so many items are purchased of the same item. The staff are knowledgeable about their products and care about your pets. I appreciate there concern for my animals.
Staff was very helpful with dealing with a baby Bengal kitten that has some gi issues from meds. Appreciate the knowledge and did not over sell. Very honest on what they thought was most helpful. Kitten has been checked by vet. Just bad tummy and Fortifora has helped,, but looking for more options to make him feel better.
We went in to explore options for our fish tank. Madison was very knowledgeable and steered us in the direction to better water pH before purchasing any fish and then what kinds of fish for our particular tank. Great service and friendly staff.
I always seem to find the kitten food I need here and its a little cheaper than a couple of other places Ive checked out. It also had replacement feathers for this wand I bought there a few weeks ago. Its clean, the cashiers are nice, both a plus.
I have a dog who is afraid of men. As long as its not too busy, the one male staff member helps me work with her on that fear. We patiently try to get her to approach him using treats. The staff also remembers my pets by name. Its hard to find a staff that cares more about animals than the staff of Premium Pet!
The staff is always friendly, informative, and actually make an effort to help you. They have one of the healthiest fish selections in Central Illinois, tons of oddballs, and they can properly rehome fish if you need to do so. They have one of the largest plant selections Ive seen with healthy, cycled, and lush plants. They also have an extremely large selection of substrates and other aquarium supplies that most stores dont have unless they focus on fish even then this place has some stuff that you wont find there especially medicines. Ive never brought home a fish or plant that caused any disease or caused an infestation of snails. I highly recommend this store. It is worth the trip if you live farther away.
If you like overpriced fish and not getting anything back when you take fish in for store credit this is the place for you. I took fish on multiple occasions and they always under bid you so bad if you take a 30 dollar fish youll be lucky if you get 10 bucks. The employees act like you dont know anything and were super rude they simply dont care about the hobby. Dog food wise they have some decent stuff a little on the high end.

We are FOREVER LOYAL to this LOCALLY OWNED business! We have purchased food and all other supplies from Premium Pet Supply for our dogs, cat, guinea pig, and beta fish for several years now. (Note: the pig and fish were also purchased here and have lived long healthy lives.) If we have any health or grooming concerns with any of our pets, we discuss with their staff and always get some advice we had not considered. Their dog and cat foods are VERY high quality and Id swear the Fromm Family Foods helped saved my cats life after he developed serious urinary tract problems due to a stressful situation last year. When the vet wanted to give him Prozac, I went to PPS and we added canned food to Louies diet so he was getting extra water. Louie is healthy again (without any Prozac), and I am eternally grateful for their advice! As some other reviewers stated, their food may be a bit more expensive, but there is a deep discount for every 7th purchase, and the quality is well worth it. More recently, my fish tank filter pump went out and Monty advised how to take it apart and clean it instead of buying another pump... my problem was solved! Finally, the staff at PPS are always quick to help and to get us checked out, saving me a lot of time! We are VERY HAPPY with this businesss service and products!!
With the new pet place going in next store to this establishment I feel it is increasingly necessary to let all of you serious pet owners that this is the place to want to go. Shout out to Monty (my fish guy) who always is straight forward and incredibly knowledgeable. You have a life long customer. Dont be fooled by the big box stores, if you are serious about your fish and the aquariums you loving care for this is the place to make sure that you are always getting the best care for your fishy friends.
Friendly and definitely knowledgeable. We buy all of our dog food here, and have for years. They helped us pick a good brand, and while its expensive, its no more so here than anywhere else. They also have a frequent buyers card that helps offset there cost. For every six, you get the seventh half price.
We travel in a semi and I called to see if they carry the food we feed our dog. They had one bag left. They were kind enough to put it behind the counter for me. This kind of service is invaluable when you travel with a dog that has a chicken allergy and cant eat just any kind of food. We will definitely be back when we travel through the area.
I have been buying my Shepherds dry food and treats here since he was a puppy. He is now 3 1/2 years old. They are very friendly and helpful. They carry quality food, treats, and toys. I highly recommend this store

I was looking for a short leash but they did not have one. I am giving four stars because they do have some unique items and treats for dogs. They usually have the cutest decorated dog cookies type things. The staff has always been friendly and willing to provide recommendations.

Fabulous! They have the biggest variety of fish compared to Petsmart and petco. One time I went there they had a stingray! The fish room is a real piece of art! The entrance makes you feel like your going in to to underwater cove! They have everything for your classic goldfish to a LION FISH! There animals are kept in a good habitat. I feel like if petsmart wasn’t just a few doors down it would be doing much better.
Normally I am OK with this place even though the tanks need a good cleaning and nothing is ever labeled it is fine. Today however after waiting patiently for some time while several clerks were available the clerk in the fish section was finally finishing up with another customer and told me he would be right back to assist us. After waiting for a bit longer we realized he had went up front with the customer and was continuing his personal conversation about cars and car parts. Finally after being fed up my wife and I left. We were planning on purchasing a couple Urchins and fish and some cleaner crew.
Knowledgeable staff. Great selection. Best pet store and animal supply store in the area. Been shopping here for years. Even after moving away, i come back to this store any time Im in the area. Dont shop big box when you can shop Premium Pet Supply.
Absolutely love this store! Great variety of dog and cat food, wet, dry, and fresh food too! They have the most beautiful aquariums I have ever seen at a great price! Not the blah bulk purchase ones you see at Petco and Petsmart. They also have a great variety of HEALTHY fish and are very knowledgeable about each and every one of them! I cannot compare them to any pet store in Blono, this family owned business is simply the best!
I was looking to buy a new 55 gallon aquarium, and found everything I needed! I was helped by Joshua. He made sure I new what I was getting and offered his advise on the products that I was purchasing. Truly a great experience. This is a go-to place for all aquarium needs.

Only place I could find brine shrimp eggs that I could actually drive and pick up. The store was very clean. I bought 20 ghost shrimp and all lived after floating. Employees were very polite and not too pushy.
After having horrible experience with PetSmart and Petco, this place was the light at the end of the tunnel. Their fish quality was amazing and had very helpful staff. I really felt like I was wanted there instead of people trying to hurry me out of their store. From now on Im bringing my business to Premium Pet Supply.
Highly underrated pet store here in town. I still prefer petsmart right next to it, but sometimes you can come in here and find awesome deals. Also their aquatic section is incredible.

Where do I begin? I used to think that this place was great, but I was sorely mistaken. Let me start with being a customer there, the tanks have massive algae and are filthy; I see dead fish in there all the time. Their aquarium supplies is overpriced and can be bought cheaper online. Their corals are unhealthy and are choked by nusiance algae and a nuisance anemone known as apistasia. The customer service is terrible, it takes forever to find someone for the Fish Department even if there is no other customers in the store. Employees are uncaring and unknowledgeable about the fish section, nothing is labeled with prices it is impossible to find things. They have had a massive algae outbreak and instead of dealing with the problem they completely dismantled there frag tank and put corals into holding tanks with no light, thus killing them. I applied for a job here this past year and even though I tried calling back and visiting several times after my interview they did not tell me whether or not I got the job after I asked them. I later found out as a customer that they had hired someone else who would lie about products in order to sell them = bad business practices. I am very knowledgeable about aquariums and one day I was there with a friend and we were told that bettas are not aggressive towards each other. I also purchase live rock from this location and found out the hard way about the algae problem and I regret it ever since. dont buy your fish supplies or fish or coral from here.
Always get food for my 2 dogs here. Friendly staff and a good frequent buyers program to boot.
A little higher priced but they take much better care of the Guinea pigs and such. They carry oxbow brand and we buy our food and hay and vitamins here. Never have had a problem. Always see them cleaning cages.
Nice hometown pet supply thats not a chain. The employees are genuinely caring and seem to know what they are talking about. They also wont let you buy something if think its not a good thing to do just to make a sale for themselves. Check them out for yourselves. 😉
As for cat and dog food, they carry a lot of good brands. As for small animals, hamsters, fish, hermit crabs and reptiles they seem to lack proper items for these animals. The shells they carry for hermit crabs are painted and toxic, the pools for crabs are barely puddles.... The hamster cages are all too small, or not ideal. The proper square footage for even a dwarf hamster in the USA is 12x20 inches with a height of 12 inches, none of their cages are meeting these guidelines for safe and adequate animal care. As for their bettas, theyre overcharging for some very sickly looking fish. All in all, I dont support this store.

My husband and I only go here. They actually know stuff about their fish and animals unlike the other pet places who hire high school students that answer all questions with I dunno, Google it. Theyre clean and helpful and THEY CARE. Montys the best :)

Great place to find uncommon freshwater and saltwater fish. Prices on fish are pretty decent however tanks and accessories are a bit on the pricey side depending on what you get.
Staff are always attentive and helpful. Will talk to you about your needs and help you find the best product. You can tell that they truly care about animals!

They have a huge assortment of fish, but the two fish that I own that Ive bought from there, I later found out were mislabeled.... No matter how knowledgeable the guy acts, dont trust the labeling.

Nothing is ever marked correctly in the tanks neither the price or type of fish. long waits to get fish at times. Over priced and/or it feels like they make up prices as they go along.

The fish here are terrible in 4 days from purchasing fish 4 fish have died this is not the first time either that’s happened with these fish my tank is very well maintained and I have never had any problems with fish I’ve purchased elsewhere so I would be careful before ur tank gets wiped out !!

2022-05-07Absolutely amazing store. Ton of aquarium supplies. Filters of every kind, HOB, internal, and canisters. Great selection of fish that looked really good. The Aqua Cave alone is worth the trip. Ton of live and plastic aquarium plants. Huge selection of aquarium decor. Its a family owned business with very competitive prices to the box store. I seen stuff there today that I have only found online. They have a great staff thats very friendly and helpful

2021-10-03Absolutely wonderful place! We come here to get all things aquatic: fish, tanks, filters, food, lights... They have it all. Monte (in the fish cave) is super knowledgeable and cares about his customers. They ask questions to help you find the right fit for you. In addition to the best fish selection weve found in central Illinois (and honestly, anywhere in Illinois to date), they also have tons of adorable things for furry friends and reptiles too. They have bakery items, unique toys and treats, and your standard and specialty foods as well. I cant recommend it enough.

2022-01-22Super knowledgable people. Ask anyone about fish and they’ll tell you all you need to know. Great success with their fish and plants too. Also a great variety from easy to care for to exotic fish for experienced people. Not just fish but sometimes they have aquatic frogs, axolotls, shrimp, and crayfish. Always my first choice for fish!

2021-06-19I have always liked this store. Always had a pretty good selection of fish. Went on here all fish tanks looked horrible. Not what I usually see even mentioned to a employee about some of the Dead fish and even the piranha tank was eating a fish one of its own, he replied it will happen Im sorry this place has always been neat and clean and nice it was amazing how horrible it looked as far as aquarium rest of the store looked great plant selection look nice

2020-08-18I recommend anyone that has not taken care of fish before to go to these people.. they will fill you with knowledge and any question you need answered about your fish.. I never have and I am now raising North and south American cichlids!
