I live 20 miles from the store and when I got home the flea and tick items that I thought I was getting was not what they were suppose to be. I called the store and they offer nothing but bring the items back. Now I have to drive a round trip of 40 miles just to get what I should have gotten in the first place. Absolutely the poorest customer service. The mistake was theirs and there no consequences for screwing up. I reccomend going to a different pet store, one that will make up for their mistakes.
I want to like this place so much - its got a big selection, the staff are truly helpful and love the animals that come in, and its clean.But, guys, whoever is doing your pricing and stocking needs to GO. Things are constantly either priced incorrectly, or maybe theyre putting things in the wrong spot. What I do know, is that just about every single time I shop, Im met with an unpleasant surprise that the item I purchased was not the price I expected to pay.I literally just bought bowl that was priced for $6.99. Upon checking my receipt at home, its $11.99. A leash I grabbed from a peg marked $12.99 is actually $16.99. Im fairly certain theres a few other things as well. Would I have bought them anyway? Maybe.This isnt the first time, either. Im always finding things were more (or less, to be fair) than I was anticipating paying.I get it, were human, people make mistakes. But I also work at a store, and I know someone should be checking the accuracy of those shelves. Somewhere, the chain is breaking down and causing a problem from a customer.I really shouldnt have to scrutinize bar codes and search for the correct price tag. I shouldnt have to be surprised at the register. Guys, please get it together.
I will not be coming back here for fish related purchases. The employee assisting me had no regard for what fish I wanted and when I told her the fish she had caught didn’t look healthy and didn’t have bright enough colors to breed she told me I just couldn’t see very well. I then asked for a male platy since I already have males in the tank and don’t want to breed them, and she told me she doesn’t know how to tell them apart, caught a female fish anyway, and then proceeded to drop it on the ground and still try to sell me it even though it was swimming sideways. Horrible customer service and clearly not enough fishy knowledge to work in the fish department.
Store is great. The grooming salon has the worst service. Been there 4 ti.es in the last 4 months and only 1 time had good service. Today even had the salon manager tell me to put coconut oil on my dog and found out that is deadly for dogs to ingest. She is pathetic and a terrible person to even suggest a thing!She is very rude and doesnt seem to care about the animals at all. It doesnt even matter who you make appointment with your animal doesnt ttb always get them. Would not recommend and wont be going back ever again!
My mom & I drove an hour to this store, to be lied to & be disrespected. The manager lied to our faces & was very rude! You would think that when someone is spending $500.00 plus in your store, you would be a little more appreciative & polite. Not act like people are a bother to you & you would also expect to be told the truth. He sold us fish tank stands that were all scratched up & said there were no more in the back. (This was the LAST two) A polite young man @ the cash register had suggested that there was more in boxes in the back.The manager argued that there wasnt & then finally told me that he could check if I wanted him to. I said, yes please. He walked to the next isle & came back saying that there wasnt. A couple days later, we returned to the store to see a new setup exactly like the two that we had already purchased. Except this stand was in new shape.
Everyone was very nice and pleasant that I talked to. I would love to see some plant based vegan treat & food options as my dog cant have animal products. I would also love to see some more Made in the USA toys and accessories. I was blown away with how many natural options there were for dental, flea & tick, baths, etc! Times have definitely changed for the better!
Horrible grooming experience. My cat was brought back in the exact same condition even when I asked for them to give my cat a hair cut, bath, nail cut, and cleaning of the ears. I paid 71 dollar for a service that’s less than 20 minutes. On top of that, the lady was awfully rude, which I don’t appreciate. Personally, I think this place’s grooming service for feline is a scam.
Super clean store, very friendly staff. The only complaint is the limited fish selection. I would guess that 60% of the tanks were down to 1 or 2 (not very healthy looking) fish or no fish at all. I am starting a new aquarium at my place of business but there isnt enough of a selection to choose my fish there.
Went in we were traveling with our 2 dogs, cat & 2 birds. We usually keep stock in the camper, but since it had been months since we got back from AZ we literally had none of their normal provisions. Couldnt find anything of what we were looking big bag Kaytee select cocatill, 40# of nature made dog food. And canned food for kitty either frisky shred w/ gravey or 9 lives pate. And a bag of clay liiter (small one) After looking for things, we went looking for staff assistance. When walking out the 1 cashier was standing there. We even stated we r going down to your competitor we couldnt find none of the items we wanted. He didnt ask what we were looking for. Or even im sorry. Just bye in a not so friendly tone
Truly disappointed. I scheduled a puppy class online, got a confirmation email complete with what to bring and the name of the trainer. When I called the day of the training to find out exactly where to go, I was told there wasnt any puppy training and that they were in between trainers! I suggested they might check and change the website and not allow people to sign up and the young man on the phone said they would get right on it very sarcastically. I am glad I didnt just show up that night and find out then!!
I usually love pet smart for my dog and cat; but I recently got two leopard geckos and I what I saw in the there tank at pet smart was sad. They need a humid hide, cool high no light but a red lamp, warm hide 90 degrees but this leopard gecko had only one small hide. :( also a big thing of water which isn’t needed only a small bowl since they don’t typically drink a lot of water, since they absorb most of there water. Also the poor turtles have a huge glass ramp but small opening and get stuck under the glass :( they prolly don’t see it I’m not sure tho. There fish tanks also need cleaned (pretty dirty)
They were out of a ferret food they had advertised on sale online. When Id politely inquired about it with a manager, he checked and it was out of stock. Without even asking or displaying any dismay on my part. The manager marked down the bag (costed almost twice as much but worth it in bulk) Id decided to buy instead, to thank me for my loyalty and understanding. He went above and beyond without hesitation. Thats good customer service! Very positive experience. I will be back :)
A bit pricey on there cat shampoos but they do carry flea shampoo the store is great easy to find what you need, staff is very friendly am helpful! They are very knowledgeable! The store is very clean an organized! The bird & fish enclosure area was very clean, animals looked great!
We have been to shop and then the other day to get my dog groomed and I was impressed about both the helpful employees in the store and the groomers . Super nice and the manager even came up to is to let is know about a coupon book that ended up saving us allot of money that day! They made us feel like they genuinely cared about is getting the best deals we could. Now the groomers were very friendly and professional and seemed great with my dog. Really they were great with all of the dogs I saw there that day and they did a great job! Also they were very imformative as far as whats best for my dog.
This store is well stocked with a wide array of products. It also has excellent services, including grooming and adoptions. In fact, they work with the local Animal Protective League and host APLs cat adoption program every weekend. The staff are very friendly and very helpful.
They have certaintly stepped up their game on reptile care and it makes me quite happy. There are some things they need to tweak but overall their reptiles have been looking healthy, no stuck shed, and they seem fairly active! One of the best pet smarts Ive ever been to.
I would give less than 1 star if I could! Tried to order online for pick up from my local store, because I did not have my address typed in EXACTLY as what my bank had they would not process the order, HOWEVER they did put a hold on that amount of money in my checking account (debit card purchase) that would take 3-5 days to get the money back to my account. In order to get the item I wanted I would have to redo my order which would take out the money a 2nd time!! When I started stating that I would no longer do business with PetSmart and I would post my negative feedback ALL over social media if I did not receive my money back today, the representative starting acting like she could not hear me and we had lost connection, funny she paused her speaking long enough for me to finish my sentences. You would be wise to do business elsewhere that actually has customer service that wants to help you!!!
Very friendly, very professional. I was uncertain as to which dog food I wanted to switch our dog to, and associate recommended a brand, then also mentioned that they had on bage of the type I was looking for, that was close to the best sale date that was on clearance for 75% off.I will certainly go out of my way to check their store in the future.
They are trying to add more variety of each brand to compare or compete with online, unfortunately you can fit only so much into one store. This makes each section of the brand get smaller. Example a brand that had sixteen feet of flavors a couple years ago, now has four feet or less. Have had to drop some of my flavors because of availability. Other than that great store.
Hats off to PetSmart, Springfield, IL for having Alicia as one of their groomers!!!! We took our 8 mo old goldendoodle in for his FIRST full-body grooming. He was definitely used to being brushed, then combed but 1) he doesn’t like to have his feet worked on and 2) he loves the attention of EVERYONE and gets distracted VERY QUICKLY and easily!! Thankfully Alicia has her own doodle and was quite aware of their personalities!! Alicia listened carefully to what we were wanting (we even took a picture in to show her what we had in mind). She then showed us pictures of some of the similar styles she had done and it was spot on with what we wanted!! She walked us through the process, the timeframe it might take and what to expect at pickup. We couldn’t have been more pleased!!! She treated Murphy with great kindness and patience. He looked great and both she and Murphy survived his first full grooming!!! 😲🤣 THANK YOU ALICIA!!! We’ll definitely be calling PetSmart and booking an appointment with you again!!!!! Job WELL done!!!
PetSmart is a big box pet store. This location has a decent fish area, the usual small pets, a good cat area with toys and food and a large dog selection of most things a dog needs. They do grooming, and dog obedience classes, and have cats on site for adoption. They have an attached vet. Usually on weekends they have a local cat rescue group come with adoptable cats. Occasionally there are dogs. All in all, it is a good store. They do price match online now, which helps as the price is what typically keeps me from shopping here. I do recommend it, overall.
Ive always had a positive experience at this PetSmart location. My 3 month old dog takes classes here and weve learned a lot! Everyone is helpful and can tell you where anything is in the store. Its one of the happiest places and pushes normal social comfort zones because everyone wants to know about each others pets. Wyatt is VERY helpful and another lady told me about their price matching option.
I visited your location about a week ago in search of an Asian Forest scorpion. After deciding that I would purchase the Scorpion I asked the gentleman that was helping me to assist me with finding and selecting the amenities necessary to keep them stable and happy. The gentleman who I wish to not reveal but only to correct informed me that the best heating source would be a heating pad. But in fact after doing a little research I found out that light bulbs are actually the most efficient affordable and effective heat sources. Your salesman talked me into buying the most expensive pad, i feel ripped off. And the last thing is that the gentleman also told me that the heating pad should be placed on the bottom preferably or the side of the terrarium. Once again after doing a little bit of research I came across I came across several scorpion owners that describe the dangers of applying the heating pad to the bottom of the terrarium. Unfortunately most of these cases the scorpion was essentially cooked alive. Other than that my experience at PetSmart was fantastic as always with the most pleasant staff. This is not a review of good and bad. I just wanted to inform you so that the misconstrued info is reviewed and double checked. Thank you.
A nice facility, clean and pet friendly. Has an in-store veterinary service and grooming. Does pet adoptions frequently. Easy access and is located in a shopping mall area with major outlets such as Lowes, Farm and Home (personal favorite ), etc. nearby for multiple tasks. On the expanding west side of Springfield...so I guess this is the place to be. Good product selection.
Always have what im looking for at a reasonable price. And most of the employees are usually very helpful...only time Ive had any issues was in the fish dept. Not as knowledgeable as they should be... they sold me 2 male platy fish with 1 female and they kept her pregnant so i ended up rehoming her so they would leave poor girl alone... plus had to find homes for all the babies that survived so they wouldnt keep reproducing.Thats the only reason for 4 stars...
Amazing store I love PETSMART in Springfield! The employees are more than friendly and helpful. Most are very knowledgeable of the products they provide and there reviews. Prices are reasonable the grooming salon is wonderfully staffed as well as the Banfield veterinary clinic inside is impeccable
We rescued a beta fish from an aboned apartment..... We have him for a year... We finally found out from a pets smart worker that we could add other fish in with him..,.. just did this today but gotta say thank you,.....he is swimming with the 3 Mollys we bought......think we made him happy.... thanks to the team at PetSmart.....hes happy again ♥️
The Stores are always very clean, organized and the staff is very helpful. One can always find a good sale on something since they carry all sorts of pet supplies, foods, bedding, toys, small animals, fresh water fish and more. Some of the Stores have a Veterinarian on site, boarding , training and groomingn and they also have dogs and cats for adoption and much more.
They will come and help plus will answer anything you need to know. Met a great man last night there He is a manager but really good. Goes beyond what he has to to help you. He will even go get things for you if you arent able. Give email and get the discounts. Always have what you need in way of feed
This was my first time ordering online and picking up in store.... was it easy? Yes... did it save me time? Not really...Ill explain...I thought Id say myself some time because I needed to get the food before I went to work so I ordered online for pickup, but I went in told the girl at the checkout I ordered online she said oh, ok Ill have to call someone....so by the time I waited for said person to come, get on his iPad and find my order, then go get it and bring it to me I honestly could hv went to the shelf, gotten it myself , paid and been on my way...so no time saved and I actually think doing it myself I would have been out of there quicker.
I was going to do a long rant about the situation, but instead I will be short. My 10 year established 55 gallon tank has a nasty fungus from the fish I purchased here. I brought one in to show and the manager and he gave me something to cure it. I asked him to cover it. He told me no. I had to spend $15 to cure the tank that their fish contaminated. He claims his tank is fine. So after 10 years I suddenly get a nasty fungus from nowhere or perhaps the fish I just purchased. Im NOT happy and will be returning all their fish back. I spent about $70 in fish + new fake plants. Probably $100 in stuff will be returned because a dip of a manager didnt want to settle over a $14 treatment. They caused this and then basically told me its not their fault. Fishman is way out of my way, but they FOREVER will have my business now. Im HOT over this!
I’m here multiple times a week and every time I come in to get crickets I have to track down an employee every..single...time and then wait until they can help me. This place is seriously understaffed, I can walk the whole store and only see the cashier. I once walked in looking for a vacuum for my fish tank and was told by an employee to go elsewhere, so off to petco I went, and a good thing too cause it was cheaper. I’m going to start ordering from amazon cause they never have what I need in stock.
I shop at PetSmart way too often. I have two reusable bags that I purchased there quite some time ago, & every time I shop there I bring one or both of the bags into the store with me. These bags are both obviously used & are usually sporting some attractive cat hair, because nothing comes into my home & leaves without taking some cat hair with it. Heres the fun part. Literally EVERY time I give the bags to the checker to use, I have to explain earnestly that yes, I brought these bags from home, & no, I am not trying to rob your store by taking a brand new, sparking clean bag off of the rack, & then rubbing it in cat hair that I smuggled into your establishment for just this purpose. Seriously, people. If youre going to treat customers who purchase your bags like we are bag-stealing thugs, then stop selling the stupid things.
Great store always love going there wonderful employees I love the fact that I can bring my kitten in there and the employees as well as customers enjoy seeing him and giving him the social interaction that he needs. I love that this store encourages you to bring along your pet so they can pick out what they want just like you would do if you were taking their child to pick something out love love love this store
First thing I would do would warn people not to bring their pets here to get groomed or bathed the staff here are very mean and uncaring Of your pets!!! Doped my pet off at 11:00 and they call me at 11:15 to tell me he was all done a ready to be picked up! WHAT? You done every thing I payed you for in 15 mins! LOL yeah what a joke I just wasted 40 for nothing! When I picked up my dog his nails hadn’t been clipped in his ears were still dirty!... And the cashier was very rude as well seem like he wanted his job and his day to hurry along and I was just on his way! WILL NOT BE COMING BACK!
I like the employee, friendly and take the time to talk with you about your needs of the animals you have. Helpful hints. The animals seems like they like the shopping they like the treats they give out for them, some staff are animal lovers anyway. Thank you PetSmart!
If you have options, Go anywhere else. Ive had issues three times with employees scheduling our appointments then arriving weeks later to be informed no appointment was ever booked. (Twice with Banfield and once with the grooming dept) Petsmart should invest more time in training their employees. I will never shop or use the services here again.
We are traveling the US with our dog and needed to have a checkup. He is due for shots in July but needed advise. Woodstock, our dog appears to be suffering from stress related to our 11 months of travel. The staff were awesome , the doctor awry. Gave us great advise which so far has worked. Thank you for your help. Would pop back in again if traveling back throug.
I love this place. I will always love this place. Except I am a little Disturbed at the fact that while I was shopping I was watching a dog shaking on the grooming table while the girl proceeded to go through her phone and text and look at Facebook. What very happy about that.
You need look no further than the fish tank area. Multiple tanks with sick fish on a centralized filtration system. Swim bladder infections, dying and dead fish all over. At least most of the tanks are empty. I was told the filtration system is twenty years old and dying. If thats the case, there should not be a single live fish in that store until its fixed. Went in for plants for my daughters tank, but was so absolutely disgusted I put them back on the shelf and walked out. The only way Ill go back is to document the tragedy to post pics on their corporate Facebook page. Other animals looked alright, but if management will overlook something of this magnitude that sits right at the front of the store, who knows what theyre letting happen elsewhere.
Brought Nightshade home to Springfield from my moms house in Chicago and didnt have his crinkly toy, every time I opened a package hed come running.Me assuming that was what he was thinking,, found them there, he heard them and came running,he looked happy batting them all around the house. Thank you!
This place is a joke, no customer service whatsoever. Every time I go in there I get ignored, their employees just walk past as if Im invisible. 1st visit I asked a manager for assistance and she said she would send someone to help me, after 15min of no help I left. 2nd visit I asked an employee for assistance he said he would be there in a couple min to help, 5min later I saw that same employee helping another customer while I just stood there with no help. 3rd visit the same as always, I was told they would send someone over but I got nothing (on a very slow night I might add). So I went to petco down the road, and had no problem whatsoever; great customer service over there. I would not recommend petsmart to anybody.
I posted the review below a few months ago. Im back to confirm this place is pretty special. They have a pet clinic at this location and we took a very sick tuxedo tabby named Rocky in for a visit. He was diagnosed with FIP which is a death sentence. The vet hugged me when I cried. A few days later Rocky was gone. He died in my arms and Ive never cried so hard. One of the Petsmart vets checked in with us a few days later and we gave them the bad news. Within a few days we received a sweet kitty condolence card with actual handwritten words of sympathy from 9-10 different people. Wow! We really didnt think anyone would care like that. They see animals everyday. Talk about feeling special. I rescue cats so I will certainly keep giving them my business!Old review: Hmmm.... Im confused by the other reviews. They always seem pretty helpful when we go in.

2022-06-09I like the ease of their website and the friendliness of their associates. A smile while loading a 42 pound package of cat litter into my car. When I needed to change cat food for my picky eater cat, an associate discussed all the pros and cons of the different brands she might eat and would be best for her. I will shop there again. My cat appreciates them also.

2022-05-15I went to get my dog groomed. They did a phenomenal job! Ten times better than our vet, and $60 cheaper!! I paid $87 for full service on him! That was a deal to me. I dropped him off, they were all very friendly with me, and very gentle with Bo, as he was definitely scared. They gave me a 3-4 hour window. I was called within the time frame provided. I did not have to pay anything upfront, and I was asked if I was happy with the cut. When you show up for your appointment, you have to show proof of all vaccinations and answer questions about temperament of your animal.After being skeptical of a big box store, they definitely changed my opinion.

2022-06-10Worst quality of fish Ive ever seen and its in every store location Ive been to from Springfield, Decatur to Champaign. Sick and dead fish in almost every tank. Employees dont maintain the tanks at all nor are they knowledgeable about fish/tank products. I highly recommend going elsewhere. Also extremely high prices on fish supplies.

2021-09-24HUGE selection. Store was very clean and well stocked. Only reason Im giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I wish this chain would put more effort into updating their stores. Just seemed like it needs a modern face-lift. Other than that, no complaints!

2021-12-16Just going to be completely honest. When someone comes in with 3 dogs all on leashes of coarse but want to look at fish...you may as well forget it. Some people keep their dogs at bay and some just do not understand how rude it can actually be when their dogs just roam 9 feet out and bark at people. Other than that the store is clean and well kept. Employees are nice with the exception of a few idiots but every store has them. I love dogs by the way , actually all animals! Hope this helps 😉
