Pedal and spoke packed up my bike for shipping when I moved out of the area. I ended up shipping my bike across the country twice before getting the chance to reassemble it. When I finally did, the packing job was phenomenal and looked like it had come straight out of the factory. Amazing work!
I cant compliment them enough, my first bike in over 40 years and I was wobbly to say the least. Pete our salesperson never laughed or made me feel silly. Another employee in the parking lot asked if he could help me with relearning at all. What a great group of people, the bike I chose was affordable and perfect for me. They made sure we had everything we need and understood the trunk rack, etc. We took our first ride today and no more wobbling, it really is a lot of fun. They do it all here so skip the big box stores and support a local business.
Dropped off a bike for a quote and was told that I would get a call back that afternoon. Didnt happen. Called and was given a quote - you need this, this and this - $400. Went in and was asking questions. Tried to get an itemized quote but was told to look up their services online. That doesnt really help when they are replacing parts. I wanted to see what parts and how much. I informed the employee that I wanted to support a local business due to the ongoing issues with the virus. I was told that they have a three week backlog of work so I took it that they did not need my business. Not sure if he was telling me that they are busy and dont have time to answer my questions or why he said that. I ended up going to Trek in Naperville and was pleasantly surprised by the time they took to explain things and answer any questions. They also did give me an itemized quote. I will be going back to Trek. I really wanted to use this local business but not with such poor customer service.
Short story:This is the bike shop youve been looking for. Grab your phone and go ahead and say Hey Google (or Siri, if youre a ̶c̶r̶e̶a̶t̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶i̶n̶f̶l̶u̶e̶n̶c̶e̶r̶ iPhone user) - Start navigation to Pedal & Spoke Ltd.Long story:If youre a total novice - you dont know your BCD from BSA, your flat mount from your flatbar - and you are worried about the reputation of bike shops to be aggressive and snooty, worry not, everyone here (including Myka... especially Myka) is really chill and makes you feel comfortable. If youre a bike nerd and want to nerd with other nerds, youre also in good hands. Go here.If you flat on the trail and limp it into the shop near closing time and you need air and reassurance from Ashton that your DIY repair job wont fail catastrophically on the remainder of your ride home because youre new to tubeless and still getting a feel for how this all works - speaking for a friend, natch - go here. There are other shops in and near Aurora, its true. I went to them this weekend, so you dont have to.Save your time.Save gas.Save the planet.Go to Pedal & Spoke instead.
Ive been riding bikes my entire life and paying for them and their maintenance for about 20 years now. Ive lived in Milwaukee, Phoenix and Dallas and Pedal & Spoke is the best shop Ive ever worked with. They will spend whatever time is necessary to make sure you understand what maintenance needs to be done on your rig and exactly what youre buying. Their prices are always fair and theres never any pressure to buy whether youre new to the sport or a seasoned grinder. After you drop your bike off, theyll keep you updated with costs via email and phone calls; there are never any surprises.I do not trust my bike with anyone but Pedal & Spoke. I have three other shops much closer to where I live and theyve all let me down. I take the extra time to head out to Pedal & Spoke every time. Theyre riders and their passion comes out in their work and their character.
Best bike shop in the western suburbs in my opinion. Every time Ive needed help finding a part for my bike or getting work done above and beyond my capability, they have always given me the best service. Ive bought bikes from them and have been very happy with the purchases. I also work on my own bikes and they will answer any questions I might have which is rare for a business. This is why Ill drive past several other bike shops to go there. I appreciate their expertise with bikes and their willingness to go the extra step to help the customer.
While looking for a local vendor I came across Pedal and Spoke and saw that they are a family owed business with employees that know what they are doing. I saw a model I wanted online but the exact one was not in store. I came in after work and Pete got me on a similar model and got it ordered. A few days later the bike is in and all ready to go. During the checkout, Ashton went over the bike and everything in great detail including their courtesy bike tune up within the first year. Overall, I could not be happier with the expedite and professional service. I hate places that try to sell you things you don’t need or pressure you. Pedal and Spoke made me feel comfortable and reassured my bike was set up perfect.m
This shop really has it all. Every staff member Ive ever encountered has been both friendly and knowledgeable which is uncommon at most bike shops. They always have what I need whether parts, accessories, gear, or legitimately good advice. They have a broad range of bikes to choose from for all budgets. I like that they are more mountain bike oriented than most other shops Ive been to in the area, but have all the road stuff too. Even cool bike culture stuff - coffee is dispensed by the force of a bike pump. As a customer, I feel welcome and confident their guidance is for my best interest as a cyclist, not just another opportunity for a sale. Great shop, great people!
I had been putting in a lot of miles on my daughters mountain bike but wanted something with more speed. A friend of mine recommended that I go to Pedal & Spoke. I’m so glad I did! Pete at Pedal & Spoke had me test ride 3 different bikes on the trail right in back of the place. The last bike he suggested was the winner and I came back the next week and purchased it. Pete spent a lot of time with me listening to my comments about each bike and was ultimately able to match me with the perfect bike. I’m so excited to ride this bike and not feel like a slow turtle!
This is now my bike shop. The biking world is a relatively small community - Pedal & Spoke exemplifies community. The shop is a bit of a drive from my house and we have 3 major shops within minutes. If you need something, it is worth the drive. I damaged a rim and was driving by after exiting the highway. The shop is reminiscent of small town hospitality as I was immediately greeted by staff (never like when sales people bother me). The staff member saw me looking at their wonderful inventory of mountain bikes...he simply waved and smiled, If you need anything, just let me know. I had a technical question about a defect in my rims and asked the front desk some help. The staff member was not sure and replied, I am not sure about that, but will get someone who knows. (love that! nothing worse than someone trying to fake it or blow you off - some shops in the area are not that friendly as I have visited all of them one time or another). At that point, Ashton (his family owns the shop) who was wrenching on a bike came over. Between Ashton and other mechanics in the shop, several great options were offered up. The staff was really busy and took the time (about 40 minutes) to talk things over, wax poetic about mountain bikes, suggest some great local trails, and even offered me some coffee. It is really hard to find a shop that is on top of the mountain biking world. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about mountain biking. Most areas shops are only well versed in the $300 entry level bike. The staff at Pedal & Spoke were all over it! From the latest in dropper post technology to the new SRAM XX Eagle offering. If you love bikes and the biking community, Pedal & Spoke is worth a look. Be sure to stop in the bathroom and flush the toilet...its something you have to see for yourself.
Great Shop! Placed a special order for a bike they normally dont carry and during the build the shop noticed a small cosmetic imperfection on the frame. The shop notified me immediately and offered to replace the frame. Since the issue was cosmetic only I opted to take delivery of the bike. The shop worked with the manufacturer after the fact to obtain a credit, which they posted back to my credit card. Thanks for your help and honesty.
Was told to stand outside when there was 4-6 employees standing around , so too many people in store. Less employees means more business, i had purchased 3 bikes there but the kid was do rude that I decided to spend my money another place. FYI only one customer vehicle was there , 1200 $ loss for them. I dont support rude kids who callously tell a 50 year old to get out
Good bikes sold here, however I typically get them handed down. Whenever i have a bike in need of repair I bring it down to the shop and theyre always more than willing to help me out for a good price, once its ready theyll contact you which is normally faster than the estimated time.
After bouncing from bike shop to bike shop trying to find someone who could replace a set of wheels on an early-80s road bike (Raleigh, six gear rear cassette, not a size made anymore), this was the only place that I visited that was willing to help, as well as was able to find me the replacement I needed. If you have a vintage road bike, place is at least worth a look. Good people.
The people working here are really nice. My friend and I were biking on the Fox River Trail when we noticed her tires were in need of air. Since this place is located right off the trail, we stopped in to see if we could fill the tires up. The guy working was very nice and brought us the right needle head and pumped up the tires free of charge!
I stopped in one night when I decided to get serious about biking. The owner talked me through all of the choices they had and helped me get a bike that Im really happy with. Support and help were very good, one slight complaint is that the bike selection isnt extensive on the low end, but I was looking for a quality bike, and they have those in spades. Very good experience, just dont go looking for low end bikes.
I have recently come back to mountain biking and decided to stop into pedal and spoke with my wife to see what they had. I wasnt current with much in the MTB scene so and education was needed. I purchased a specialized bike from another local store a couple of months previous to my first visit and the experience was okay but not like the one(s) at P&S. the purpose of this visit was to find a bike for her. We were greeted by Pete and he showed us around the shop and some of the in stock options. All looked well and we were pulling the trigger on a bike that we thought would be a great beginners bike. Pete was happy to help us with that but had a couple of suggestions since my wife was new to mountain biking. He suggested that we look at a specialized ruze instead of a specialized jynx. His reasoning was the 3x9 drivetrain can be confusing with front and rear shifting when new to the sport. He also pointed out the 3 inch tires that provide a nice ride and better traction. We decided to go with the ruze (special order. Delivered in 5 days) and my wife is very happy with her purchase. I also enjoy it because she is having fun and its something we can do together. Now onto my purchases. I have a camber comp and wasnt thrilled with its performance. I worked with Pete and Ashton exclusively while figuring out what to do. First thing was converting over to a 1x11 drivetrain. What a difference that has made. Upgraded the cockpit, wheels (after a crash and cracked rim) and a couple of other things. It feels like a different bike and really helped me get going in the right direction.Next up was my 2017 enduro expert 650b purchase...well my wifes purchase and my early xmas gift. I wanted something with more travel for trips up north and possibly out west. Went back and forth talking to Ashton and I decided the enduro was what I wanted but wasnt pulling the trigger until spring. I did give Ashton the heads up that my wife could come in so he knew what I was looking for. My wife walks in the door without me and she said Ashton just smiled and said I know what to get him. I was in there after my wife and all of them kept their mouths shut about my gift. My wife caved and told me what she got me. Well four days later Ashton called to tell me my bike was ready. Im very happy with the bike and the speed in which it was delivered.Sorry for being so long winded but these guys deserve it. I will gladly pay a little more to support a local business and to also receive great service. My wife and I are greeted by our names every time we walk in the door and I enjoy stopping in to just shoot the breeze. Great shop, great staff and easy to work with. I only buy from p&s now and I highly recommend them.P.s. They have a nice cash back program for your purchases.
Long over due in writing this Review Purchased my Bike Here Outstanding Service Every individual from Pete to the Owner has a great Attitude Hard Core to casual rider no bias this store is about sharing the Love of Biking .Cant say enough how good they are to work with ,I bought them all Pizza for Lunch
This is one bike shop in the area that actually tunes up your bike when you request it (Ive been to several that Im convinced dont actually do anything and still charge you); the brakes and derailleurs were a lot snappier after I took my bike (Trek 1.2) in. Thanks guys!

2020-08-15Excellent customer service. Its so difficult to find kids bikes, but pedal and spoke had the perfect bike for my son. Their pandemic precautions are very good, only a certain amount of people are allowed in the store and it is very clean. They explained to my kid how his new bike works and stressed safety. I highly recommend this shop, and I will be back when Im ready for a road bike.

2019-07-30Thanks Pete, Ashton, and Mike for always taking care of my cycing fix. Ann loves the new Como, and hopefully this will cure here itch for an e-bike spin. Also the 2018 Cutthroat has been awesome; my true commuter bike with aspirations to go bike packing. Take care - Chris

2018-10-03So far my experience here has been terrible. They told me they would call me when they had my sons bike was in and they did not. I had to call them. The hours say 10-7 but when I went to pick up the bike and arrived at 10:35 they were closed.Edit: after speaking with someone from the store they delivered the bike to my house. Thank you making up for the inconvenience.

2021-03-22Brought my bike in for a mid-range off season tune-up this winter and could not be happier. Got a few parts replaced in addition to the tune-up, and my road bike is riding better than ever (and is almost eerily silent). Work was quick and thorough. Looking forward to using this shop for all my bike needs going forward.

2019-07-11A little late with this, but I had a great experience at Pedal & Spoke. They know their products, took the time to understand what I was looking for, talked through features and benefits of different models, and gave me time to test ride before making a decision. They also helped me with shoes, parts, and service. The owners and staff are super friendly and are passionate about bikes and customer service. Will definitely keep coming back!

2020-06-21This was my 1st visit. I liked the store, and help. The guys know about bikes, even my 83 Schwinn Le Tour Luxe /Chicago. I like fixing things myself, bought tools, spoke. Unlike many other bike shops, they carry tools (Parker), and price was less than Amazon. Just long commute (32 miles) for me, and will be shopping there.
