Absolutely terrible makeup services had to have my makeup done by 2 different girls and it still wasn’t up to my standards. The girls doing my hair were very nice, but it still didn’t come out the way I wanted. Overall not a good experience definitely won’t be returning. Deserves 0 stars!!!
I am currently sitting here at this place. I had an appointment for 1:00 and they close at 4:30. After my consultation I was told they do not have enough time to color my hair the way my stylist had planned. They took no responsibility for the fact that I had an appointment and came at the scheduled time for the scheduled service. I requested them to at least color part of it because it is my birthday this week and my color looks really bad. They refuse to color my hair at all, so I said ok can I just get it cut? They then said that the stylist is uncomfortable even cutting my hair because basically I scared everyone here.....and would I like another student to cut it? Needless to say, nothing is being done to my hair today. I am very disappointed. Wasted a whole day trying to come in here and get my hair done, and cant afford to go anywhere else. Now Ive been treated like a rude customer when all I did was make an appointment and show up on time expecting to get it done. This was very unprofessional and now my hair is going to look terrible on my birthday so Im upset and I do not recommend this place to anyone.
This was such a great experience. Melena did an amazing job creating a whole new look for me. They really take the time to ask you questions to make sure youre getting what you want. I will probably never go back to paying full price for a haircut. The only thing I would caution against is going here if youre in a hurry. Because the stylists are learning, it takes time for the instructor to map out and critique every step of the process, which was totally fine with me, but if I had thought it through, I would have realized that it would probably take a bit longer than a regular trip to the salon. So, if time is not a factor for you, definitely give them a try.
Everyone here is polite and dedicated to providing the best hair cutting experience possible. I love how the students work so hard to hone their skills! Ashley is especially skilled and provides efficient and thorough services. The leader of phase two, Stefan, is especially helpful in assisting the students in meeting clients needs.
Me and my daughter come here often to get the deep condition and blow dry with the added flat iron. Every time we have a great experience kristy b. Really did a great job on my daughter hair with the braids and the flat iron. Jayla did my hair really good as well. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Ive been coming to Trendsetters to get my hair colored for a number of years. Ive always left extremely happy with the end result. Was here on Saturday and was lucky to get Melena who was super attentive and made sure I was well taken care of. She listened to what I wanted. The color, highlights, and cut were perfect, exactly what I wanted! I know Ill be back.
Paul Mitchell School in Tinley Park is such a refreshing environment. Along with friendly skilled instructors and students. You will not be disappointed going here. It much relaxing environment then the school in Chicago. As a first time client in Tinley Park in September 2014. I was so extremely happy with the relaxeler I had done at the school. I was fearful because of a past bad experience in another salon. But they totally calmed my fears and gave me excellent service. I would highly recommend making appointment for your hair salon needs here.
Its usually been a nightmare trying to find a stylist who can cut curly hair well. But Gretchen did a wonderful job. I usually can find one thing that makes me unhappy about my cut whenever someone cuts my hair, but I cant find a single thing not to like when Gretchen cut my hair. I am over the moon and thrilled with my cut and color and I most definitely will be coming back. Gretchen is so talented and I think I found a forever stylist. You go girl.
My experience at Trendsetters the Paul Mitchell School is always first rate. Even when given gift certificates for other salons I use them for other than hair services. My cuts and colors are only done at Trendsetters. The staff and Future Professionals are always friendly, super knowledgeable and extremely pleasant and helpful.
I have been going here for years. I have not ever had a haircut I didnt love or others ask where I go for a haircut. The teachers are walking the floors inspecting every haircut so actually you get a better haircut than if you went to a regular high priced salon. I recommend for everyone to visit this wonderful school.
Terrible they just want money. Took four people to do two braids. That cost $28! They dont know how to work with African American products and hair so it looks nice.Plus the people doing the hair complained a lot about non work problems. I do not recommend this place at all.
I have been going to Paul Mitchell for years. Every student is so genuine and they have never given me a reason to complain. They are all so well trained whether they are phase 1 or phase 2. No professional salon has ever given me anything near the superior service that this school has. I highly recommend giving the school a chance if you have not already.
PERSPECTIVE STUDENTS LOOKING FOR SCHOOL PLEASE READ. If only giving zero stars is an option I would definitely do so. I chose this school to attend for the 500hour barbering program. I have never been so disappointed or regretful for a choice in my life. I attended the Chicago PM for cosmetology and that being the best decision of my life I figured this school would live up to those expectations. Not even close. Mind you the Chicago location doesn’t offer a barbering program. Not only do they not have a full time teacher for the full time program, you rarely get men to come in to work on.The location is awful, no one can ever find it. When you bring up your issues to the school they give you any excuse but all they care about is getting your tuition money, not the students experience or education. Take it from me, take your money elsewhere for your education. Waste of time, waste of money. And believe me I have not been the only student to complain. Also I did not finish the program, I withdrew and am now being forced to pay double the time of what I was there.
I highly recommend the Paul Mitchell school school for anything you need from coloring to facials, everyone from the front desk staff to the teachers are very nice nice. Great place with well trained students by educated teachers. Always receive individualized attention to each client. Unbelievable rates and prices.
Im currently a student here and it is truly a great experience. The learning leaders are always on point with their education and design team is amazing. The culture is something that everyone should be a part of, the fundraising that is done through the school is definitely amazing for giving back and helping others!
I really liked how the updo turned out! Ashley was great, very patient and professional. I would definitely recommend this place for all of your salon needs. The only suggestion would be to lower the teacher:station ratio. This visit for an updo was almost 2 1/2 hours, but then again, it was on a Saturday. So, plan accordingly ;)
Maya was great in customer service n hair service. She explained the procedure. , cost n product benefits. Thank youMaya is leaving, watch out for her services coming soon statewide n I must say her hair skills n communication in knowledge are above the norm. Thank you Maya I know u will have great success .
Paul Mitchell is an amazing school to come to! Not only do they provide a great hands on learning technique but the culture is truly phenomenal! The amount of guests that come in is mind blowing! No matter what, theres never a dull day here and theres always something to do!
Student: My experience here is kind of dismal. I believe that this school is all about just money. I havent really learned anything since being here. They enroll so many students into the program where the classrooms and clinic floor are packed. There is no room for learning when there are so many people in the classroom. I wouldnt encourage anyone to attend this location. You may want to attend the Chicago location (corporate owned). This school will make you spend money on plastic Paul Mitchell cups in order to drink your beverages on the floor. Drinking hot beverages out of a plastic cup is not healthy. The skill cards that they give you are poorly written with typos: (i.e. course instead of coarse when describing hair texture). They make you pay money to wear clothes outside of the black dress code in the name of fundraising (yeah fundraising the owners pocket). They give you worksheets to complete with various hair assignments that have to be completed in a month. How can you do that when you are on the floor making the school money on services that are not on your worksheet. I give this school two stars because some of the learning leaders are okay and the manager is a nice person. I suggest anyone going into cosmetology school to go to a junior college or going to Vidal Sassoon.
I went to school here in 2009 and i loved it! pail mitchell has a culture and it really teaches you to be a good person in addition to being a great hairstylist. they have great classes for you to prepare for a future in this industry. i loved all the teachers and i would recommend this to people looking into going to cosmetology or esthetics school.
THE WORST school to attend. I have a huge feeling if Paul Mitchell himself seen what type of nonsense goes on at this school he would NOT be proud. It’s sad how much this school does not care about their students. They just want your money. Any issues just get swept under a rug. And just over all experience is disappointing I expect so much more but we all are here just paying for the name that is all..
My niece Whitney Ripley is about to finish school in couple of weeks and has loved her experience at Paul Mitchell. We are so excited for her to graduate and apply all of the skills that she has learned throughout her experience there. Thanks Paul Mitchell the school Tinley Park for teaching her the skills that she has acquired to go out into the real world :)

2021-05-12Fantastic place for a haircut at a great price. The teachers are very knowledgeable and the students are cautious and ask a lot of questions to make sure youre getting what you want. I loved my haircut and look forward to going back. Incredible attention to detail as far as COVID safety protocols. Highly recommend this place.

2021-06-24Overall very relaxing facial. I have been there plenty of times and I just wish I did not have to wait so long for my appointment. I was not brought back to a room to until 20 minutes of waiting which messes with my schedule and starts the appointment out on the wrong foot.

2021-03-07Poor communication and not professional. Some of the students are great but some are horrible. It should be common sense to NOT put certain things in curly hair than you do in straight hair. I’m not blaming the students but mostly the school and teachers that teach the students. BURNING people hair is not good. Your teachers need to learn how to teach about hair patterns and hair types, so that you can know what to put and what NOT to put in someone’s hair. Also, learn how to be more versatile with your mannikins, so you can know how to do your clients hair better.

2021-05-16Marianne did a fantastic job on my facial. She asked good questions and was very gentle. Its just unfortunate that the school doesnt have enough basic supplies for her to do other facials.

2019-09-05I had a touch up, highlights, and low lights, and I just love the way it turned out. Gabby was my stylist and she was amazing and efficient. I also was impressed with the consultation and friendliness of the instructors. A shout out to this great school. I shall return.

2020-06-16Please, Please, Please come here!!! This is a great place to come get your hair done! The students get to learn, and you get a great price. I always love the outcome of anything that they do to my hair. Great environment, and great people all the way around! This is one of my favorite places to come to in the area!

2020-10-07Even during the pandemic, students need an opportunity to practice their skills. You need to have patience. These students are learning to hone their skills over the watchful eyes of the instructors. So, if you think you are running in for a quick haircut; go to the strip-mall chain hair shops. You will get a similar cut.

2014-07-21This was my first time here & the end results for the price was worth it. Knowing you have a student doing your hair, who needs teacher reflection at each step, make sure you allow more time than usual. My future stylist & her instructors did a good job & they taught me a tip I can do at home too! I got a full color, cut & style & Im happy with it. I plan on coming AGAIN & trying something different each time.!
