The young man Ethan is very very Unprofessionable after being hung up on twice by him I was finally able to speak to him to add a site for an upcoming visit, you spoke as if he didnt want to be bothered couldnt answer a question and was rushed off the phone, also when asked to speak to someone else was informed they dont have management. needless to say already not looking forward to this visit if most of the staff is like that. On the plus side the young lady candy I spoke to early morning was amazing every question she had an answer she took the time to explain the park and other things.
Filled with just total trailer trash people, the staff are all completely incompetent at their jobs, this place has water slides a couple of different swimming holes, a couple pools, ONLY for the sake of grabbing attention. They literally fake clean the bathrooms, there is no earthly way that any room can smell/look that bad after being mopped.Looking closely, they do not take care of this place at all.The only people leaving positive reviews of this place are the staff and the drunken mobs that show up here on the weekends because apparently going to a trailer park and getting drunk is the locals way of having fun.Downright awful in every aspect. The ONLY, and I mean ONLY reason to stay here is because its very spacious.
We just stayed and this campground is HUGE, a golf cart should be included. It’s nice but does need work and updating. WiFi is non-existent even when paying for the upgrade. Cell phone had 1-2 bars tops and texts did not go through. No fire rings are at the sites, you use “scars” from old fires as pits. We had an issue with our slide-out and needed to borrow a tool from maintenance, that was a joke as maintenance said they have no tools and couldn’t help us out… mind you this is a campground with hundreds of rental golf carts many buildings, and several cabins to rent/buy but they have no tools. The lack of help was very upsetting and being as this campground is in the middle of nowhere, you would think they had basic tools to help a camper. We had reservations for a pull through site however they have a huge tree in the way so it’s actually a back in. They have nearly 1k seasonal sites and not all are kept up. I liked the campground but they could really improve. We are looking for a seasonal site but this isn’t it, lack of wifi is a dealbreaker . They are adding more sites and that seems to be the priority but not maintaining the basic things like the streets and potholes and broken hot tub. It’s ok for a weekend but we have stayed at much better campgrounds in Illinois.
Beautiful campground, awesome amenities, great kids activities. The sites we chose were roomy, but others looked a little tight. Our kids loved the activities, pool, general store, fishing, etc. The live music and fireworks were a nice bonus. Our only complaint is the excessive golf cart cruising all day and night. I get the convenience because the campground is so large, but the cruising around with music blasting is annoying. Management should consider an earlier curfew for golf carts and prohibit music being played. It really takes away from the ambiance of camping. I like to get away from traffic when Im camping, not sit in the middle of it.
My family have been annual members for quite some time now, close to 10 years. It’s definitely a nice reset, especially for someone who comes from the hustle and bustle of the city. There’s just something about pulling in the campground on a warm weekend, the smell of campfires and funnel cakes, the simple things.
This park is HUGE! The amenities are great...several pools, water slides, mini golf, paddle boat and kayak rentals and lakes for swimming and fishing. Only complaint is that you have to pay extra for some of the amenities. With what they charge nightly everything should be included with your stay. We spent a week there and I think that was just a little too long for us, but the weekly rate compared to the daily rate made it worth the extra days. We did everything there was to do and then some in about 4 days so the extra 3 got a little redundant. We still had a great time though! The staff is very nice, everyone who passed by greeted us and was very friendly. The full timers were pretty great too. Some of them carry dog treats on their golf carts and drive around giving out treats to pets. I wish they had an enclosed dog park, the dog walk is nice but my dogs really needed to run off some energy and there was no place for them to do that. Laundry facilities were adequate and able to be funded through an app. Everyone has a golf cart and no one abides by the posted speed limit, not even the employees, it would be nice if they would enforce that rule a little better. Overall we really enjoyed our time here and would recommend it.
Would give 5 star if it weren’t for the golf carts! Never thought I could hate golf carts! No one including most staff follows the posted speed! All you here is the gas motors doing laps ALL day. Nothing peaceful about it. Watched two wrecks in 3 days! Please please please please stop with the golf carts. 98% of you are morbidly obese! Walk and ride a bike 🤦🏼♂️
Don’t bother going here, we took our 4 Grandchildren here for the weekend and it was very very crowded , 2 of the pools were closed, store was closed, power went out twice yesterday on a 90+ degree day, bathrooms/shower area was dirty and smelled bad, staff was unpleasant and yelled at everyone in the water slide area to the point where our Grandchildren and many other families just left and wouldn’t go on it, golf carts racing around at 3 am with their music blaring 1st night and again at 1 am our 2nd night- so much for their “quiet time” and the woman monitoring the one open pool that was packed, was rude and to make things worse, when our son came to pick up his girls from us, they told him at the gate that he would have to pay $20 to come in and get them or we would have to take them and their stuff to the gate to meet them!! I feel like when you pay a premium price like we did , everything should be open! Terrible experience all around, we won’t be back!
Im a seasonal camper. 2 years now the resort was open only half years due to major flood one year with limited services, the next year the resort is closed half the year with limited service due to COVID-19. The corporate folks did not refund a penny, but had the gall to raise the annual rates both years. This year there is no garbage pick up for the seasonal campers. Now they plowed the sand volleyball court to add more park models to rent for weekends which obviously cost 100s of thousand dollars and wont repair/replace two hot tubs that are not working. Its all about money to them!! I rarely complain, but its out of hand.
This park is part of the Thousand Trails association so we used it as we have a membership. We arrived on a weekend, which we realized would be very busy and it was a madhouse. They rent golf carts to everyone and be aware that nobody follows the speed limit and there is a lot of drunk driving (almost was run down multiple times) This campground is great for families with kids, but full of adult partiers as well. Nobody follows any of the courtesy rules, cutting through your site on golfcarts, and ignoring the courtesy rules of keeping music to appropriate levels. I had to speak to our neighbor about his portable speaker blaring music so loudly that I could hear it inside my closed up travel trailer. There are nice trails through the Outback primitive tent section, but beware you will be run down by golf carts as people joy ride through the woods and toss their empty solo cups and beer cans everywhere. We would only return for an overnight stay during the week, and avoid weekends. However, if a rowdy party scene is what you want for your camp experience, or lots for kids to do and enjoy, this place might be great for you.
Would give 0 stars if I could, this is my second season, and we are probly not going to be there for a 3rd, the park management has no idea what they are doing, its all about the dollar to them, corporate seems to be on that page as well! When we have talked to management the issue gets blanketed over and nothing done, the underage drivers are a big issue as well as the reckless driving, and the patrol dont want to handle it. The amenities are NOT all open, and its almost July. 2 hot tubes are still not open, the baby pools were just finally open a couple weeks ago. The last 3 weekends there have been power outages, and some areas of the park is STILL without power, with no reimbursement to the annuals that pay thousands of dollars to be there. At 4k a year to be there and not get all the amenities that are in the contract, and the continued Their main focus is the new development of more sites, they dont seem to care about the existing annials.power outages, just not worth it!!
Oh my God where do I start I’ve been coming to this place since I was in diapers very classy place their firework show on the 4th is fantastic every year 🤩 the staff is always friendly. I’ve been to the yogi bear in Wisconsin Dells but that place pales in comparison with this one. This is the best one in the whole country forever be a great family spot to create memories ❤️
We were so happy with O’Connell yogi. We stayed in a park model and it was very clean and the AC was wonderful. The water is well water but it is what it is - it’s camping! There was milkweed all around the park and we got to see many monarch butterflies. The office staff were so nice and always went above and beyond. We wanted to rent a golf cart but they didn’t have any cleaned yet. They stopped what they were doing and put gas in and sanitized the carts for us. The slide attendants were so sweet too. My 5 year old son loved racing down the slides. There was a point where he was the only one on the slides and the attendant (Ellen) went down the slides and raced with him. Some parts of the park are older but still nice. A little sun fading on a park doesn’t make the park any less fun. Everything was clean and well kept. We will definitely return.
We’ve been coming to this location every year for the Halloween weekend.. and we’re nervous this year because of the pandemic. We called ahead of time to see what precautions were in place and were told they were encouraging masks, sanitizing and distancing. We upgraded to a park model to have a private bathroom and decided to keep the trip and just skip activities that didn’t feel safe.. then we got there and none of the employees were even wearing masks.. they either used them as a chin strap or not at all. This whole trip we saw a total of 3 employees actually wearing them... the only event that said masks required was the haunted walk (which is guest run) and 95% of the people were wearing them and distancing.. but every other event we saw was handled like every other year with 0 precautions. So at the end of the day the park model was nice and we made the best of the weekend... but it was extremely disappointing to see a business completely ignore CDC and state guidelines. In reply to the company’s Response the staff at the Front desk were NOT wearing masks and WERE in close proximity as they were the ones checking people in.
To start, I read reviews before coming to this campground and took them with a grain of salt and wanted to really make my own judgements. The bad-I noticed right from the get go that this place was very strict. Which is fine as a safety standpoint but I believe many of the “rules” were ridiculous. I.E- kids could not ride their bikes at dusk and after.Another HUGE issue we had was staff. Some of their staff members were absolutely rude and just plain unprofessional. Many times we had to complain about how we were being spoken to and treated. Tyler and Daniel were especially rude. When my children are told they cannot talk in line while waiting to go down to the water slide that is really upsetting as this is supposed to be a kid oriented friendly place. We paid a lot of money to be there and the staff could care less about any of that. When simple questions were answered with rude tones and harsh words, we were ready to go home...Now the good-Plenty of room at the campsiteMany golf cart trailsLots of “off grid” things to doGreat fishingFelt like a safe place for the kidsMany activities for the kidsClean lakesClean showers and toilets
Been going here since I was 5 years old. Until 17 then I came back with my own kids at 29. With my dad as me and him always go camping we were camping in braidwood for 4 years. We decided to see if this was the same as before when we would go 5-10 times a summer. It has new things. Same arcade!! Since I was 5 and up!Craft room free crafts & $5-12 Dollar items you can paint like magnets and piggy banks ect. Also a small baby play area inside the room of crafts and arcade. Water slides now ! And all 3 pools are open but right now just the pools no hot tub yet. Beaches looked smaller but now has kid friendly tubing and fun stuff for kids at the beach.Alot of new things but mostly The same. Putt-putt still. Renting bopaddle boats and kayakes also a shop onsite for s clothing hats food emergency things also cleanest bathrooms are in the outback if you want to shower.Fishing areas but not like before or many. Amazing for kids. Movie nights every Saturday Sunday and holidays .they have Christmas in July I hope they still do because its so fun for everyone! Dj for kids and new parks everywhere!! 🤩 Still Love yogi
Great place for family camping, fun stuff for all ages to do. We had 5-17 yr olds that all had a great time. Pros- several pools, several bathroom/shower facilities that are well maintained, mini golf, b-ball courts, volleyball, a little beach/lake, paddle boats, fishing spots and they had food trucks all weekend with awesome tacos 😋.Cons- it’s crowded for sure and everyone is zipping around on golf carts (some while drinking), just need to watch where you’re walking and keep little ones off the road. They have some very nice tent sites by the lake but it is very windy there. Tent almost flew away and we had to move behind some trees. Not the campground you would go to for a quiet time in nature but excellent for fun with family outdoors. We’re planning to make it a family tradition.
I have been coming to OConnells for many years, My children grew up summer thru summer camping here. It use to be a place where you found peace and happiness staff use to be so friendly and now with her exception of 1 african america employee (female) who was kind and friendly employee made our life miserable specially Kat. Kat was rude, took her roll to another level and made my entire group feel harassed. It was constant bracelet checks, tent checks, unfounded complaints. We will not be coming back they did not make us feel welcome.
Unfortunately this is was the worst experience we have had in six weeks of traveling across the US staying at over 20 different camp sites. Staff was only going thru the motions of their jobs. From check-in to the security gate person not a single acknowledgement. Our site was not clearly marked & because of this, other campers were directed to walk thru our camp site. No clear signage for dump station. Overall a poor representation of the Jellystone Park brand.
We always enjoy this place. We like it much more than the other parks because it has a nice area to drive the golf carts and the kids can explore in the woods and there are 2 waterfalls that the kids really enjoy. The convoy of people with the horns on the golf carts kinda late At night that circle the park honking their horns is really our only complaint.
My son has a campsite there and even with LOTZA people there it was very relaxing. The only complaint was we were not able to get internet there or any phone service. My son had Sprint and he was the only one able to use his phone in our group. We had Consumer Cellular and T-mobile and we could not use our phones...VERY disappointing!!! Even though I connected to my WiFi in my car I still could not send texts. Such for Consumer Cellular.
This place is a great place to camp. Lots of activities for families to enjoy. Games and amenities are of the best caliber. Its a bit noise at night (11 curfew), however regular campers that own their campers there get a bit loud (past curfew). However this year they seemed to police the ordinance a lot better. Also they like to track down youngster driving golf carts with out a license. Love this place and will continue to camp yearly?
It rained most of our time there, so that stunk. Nice place with fun things to do. Fishing wasnt great, but the kids caught plenty of baby catfish. A little on the expensive side, like 80 dollars a day to rent a golf cart. It a pretty big place, you really need the cart, especially with younger kids.
My 4yo son was nearly hit by a speeding golf cart full of teenagers who flicked me off when I pointed it out. Even the staff drive faster than their 5 1/2 mph posted speed limit.Otherwise, I really like the park, especially our water-front view. I love the real camping vibe and fun activities on the weekend! Well maintained grounds.
Only stay here if you like tons of people, kids, getting run over by golf carts.Packed on this weekend, not truly camping experience but social gatherings.Kids on golf carts run amok! There was a live band and fireworks tonight, which is nice.Campfires gave the whole place a fog of smoke.Grass site, FHU, but had to unhook tow car anyway as hookups at very back which would leave car in middle of roadLots oof activities for families and kids- it is Yogi BearNo WiFi
The most run down camp ground I have ever been to. They make it seem like it is a fun filled place to take kids but it is the complete opposite. The pool by our campground was closed all weekend with no explanation why. The lake with inflatables are for toddlers. The bathroom near us was being remodeled the other two bathrooms were a 15 minute walk from our tents. I would go shower and then walk back to my bed at night sweaty from the long walk. Employees are careless about the people staying. No enthusiasm in their faces. Worst Yogi bear I have ever been to. Save your money dont come here.
While some people really like the golf carts, I thought they were a little crazy. The place is enormous. There are a lot of year-round people in established areas, and we stayed in the RV camping area. Overall it was a positive experience, but the pool didnt have any lifeguards which I was not a big fan of. It was ok.
Awful spots, grass, no paved spots like advertised. Mostly permanent residents.. We were on the side of a hill, we couldnt get level even with blocks, my interior doors wouldnt even shut. Wanted to rent a golf cart for 1 day like 9am to 8pm wanted $105. You have to pay for everything, boats, putt putt, very different from our other Jellystone experiences. Dog area is just a grassy area, no fence. All grass areas were tent camping, quiet hours were not enforced. Couldnt swim at pool, because they didnt clear the pool every hour like advertised, only 2 pools open, no hot tubs. We will not return
Excellent facilities - Pool, playgrounds, showers and store. Great for kids but...Many of the sites are small, 15xx/16xx as an example. Golf carts race arround you day & night many with flashing lights & loud music, water smell/stink of sulfate. Not a place to blend with nature, rather a social gathring place.Campground is huge, management could have split it to different designated areas....
It would have been a way better vacation had it not been for the water that smells like rotten eggs and rust. I had to buy gallons of water because we couldnt even wash our hands in our unit which is a park model. We went to the public restrooms close to the little convenience store and it smelled too. Disgusting. Didnt even want to swim. And also, Cindys pool was full of leaves and the color of the water looked dirty too. More than $300 to not be able to swim (which is the best part here) and stay smelly during your stay for the inability to shower with the nasty water.
This was our first time here. First thing I will say, we will come back. The children loved it here, and it was definitely peaceful for us adults. Now, clearly this isnt the Ritz Carlton, nor should you expect it to be. The bathrooms ones closest to our site were clean for the most part. Small in size but served its primary purpose. We had 2 cabins right next to each other. Both were 2 room cabins that could technically sleep 6. If youre bigger than a small child and theres 6 of you, youll probably want something bigger. We ended up with the 2nd cabin as a free upgrade because of an issue with the original reserved cabin. The staff immediately took action and resolved the problem. I will say that was impressive. The overall staff was courteous and helpful when they were around. The campground definitely was understaffed. Some, not all, but some things that we needed to do had taken ten or fifteen minutes just waiting for someone to assist us. 2 of the 3 pools were clean, and the 3rd pool was being cleaned on our second day there. The lake with the inflatables was amazing for the children. But again there wasnt any staff overseeing anything. The absolute biggest issue was the flies. Ive never been to a campground with so many flies. We just made do of situation. Id say 3 1/2 stars from the adults and 4 stars from the children. Theres definitely room for improvement, and we actually spoke with the owner about this. He was testing the lake water which was very nice to see and struck up a conversation with us. I really hope to return here a little later this summer and see if any improvements have been made. All of this said, I do recommend anyone who is looking for a nice time with their family to give this place a chance!!!
Full size bottom beds are very high up so my father had trouble getting in his, not to mention dangerous if he fell trying to climb up it. We used the picnic bench to help him climb in bed. I am half his age and had trouble myself. All staff was very friendly really enjoyed the fishing right outside our cabin.
This is a huge campground. There are some huge sites here as well. I felt that they could of maintained the place a little better and trimmed some of the trees for the premium price you pay for a site. There was no way to avoid having low branches drag along the side of my RVwhen driving down the path to your site. No Free WiFi and barely a cell signal on Verizon. Some other notes. It seemed that everyone in the park owned or rented a golf cart. They were everywhere day and night cruising around. Parades of them. I know it’s part of the experience but there was way more traffic then any park I’ve been to.As far as the park and staff, atmosphere was good, staff was friendly and a lot of things to do.Overall the place was ok but not for the daily rate we paid.
AVOID AVOID AVOID, until they fully reopen (due to COVID) do not waste your time and money. Even though it is noted on their website that the pools are closed, it does not mention that the playgrounds, arcade and pretty much everything else (minus- miniature golf and paddle boats) are closed and that they have no planned activities scheduled for the kids. I checked in on 6/23/2020, and they sadly had no activities scheduled for the two nights we will be here.If you want to rent a golf cart for the day, they charge an additional $65 - might as well rent a car from Hertz or Alamo for that price.Furthermore, for a family resort I would have preferred if they enforced some type of rule against the promotion of politics and such on site. I personally don’t have a problem with golf carts carrying and displaying the American Flag but for individuals to be displaying and carrying around the confederate flag while driving around in their golf cart I can see how it could definitely make some guests feel uncomfortable and out of place. Unacceptable.
Me and my family have been coming to this location for over 20 years.Passing on the tradition to my kids. We love it! Only negative comment would be the maintenance of the pools is unacceptable. All the money this location makes you would think they would update the pools but no.This has been an ongoing issue for the past 3 years. Dirtiest pool water I have ever seen .
Just stayed over Labor Day weekend. Before coming I read a lot of mixed reviews which made me re-think If I wanted to bring my family here. Take each of these reviews with a grain of salt. All in all it was a good time. A lot of people need to remember that you are camping! You are not staying at a 5 star hotel. The place is not as run down as people make it out to be. Yes, the bathrooms are older ( wouldnt hurt to update the ones in the main park) and dirty, but what do you expect, its camping. Wear shower shoes. If you stayed in the outback those bathrooms are typical for wilderness camping.I preferred staying in the outback as you are not on top of one another like the main park and its more woodsy. Yes, you do not have electric or running water, but thats part of camping. The pools and and beach area were nice, sometimes crowded, but it is expected when you have a huge campsite. Most annoying thing were the golf carts. People are not so smart with them and are all over the place. All in all I would go back.
We have been going to OConnell for over 30 years. It has grown in size so much.... There are a few areas that I would prefer it had more attention on. Restrooms by the pool near the lake was in need of much TLC. As i walked thru I had to assist to get a young child out due to handle in the ladies restroom being broken off... It was shut down as soon as i reported it. Then there are the main open area restrooms, which have not been updated since possibly 1994, I know because when they did update it from coin to free showers it was magical.... That magic is gone. All in all the place is just as i experienced as a child.... Clean, Family Friendly and people nested in their mobiles are so hospitable. Love this place and hope to invest in property in 2019.
I do not recommend for family trips with kids. The staff are very mean ,cabins were very dirty and a 1 YEAR OLD KID cant be on your lap in the golfcarts. do you undestand!!! do not visit this place, and the golfcarts are very expensive but listin if youre kid is on youre lap and you get 2 warnings boom you lose thegolfcarts and you dont get a refund, try to drive with a 1year old next to you. DO NOT VISIT!!!!!!
I came home yesterday after spending 4 days at Jellystone. Ive been going there since I was a child and now I bring my children. I must say this was the best experience Ive ever had! From the staff to the renovations I am extremely impressed. Every employee was working on a project to improve the park. The kindness and comfort they provided felt good. It was good to know that everyone wanted us to have a good time. So good of a time that my guests that were supposed to visit for the day ended up staying 3! And of course camping is a bit costly anywhere you go but on a good note the paddle boats, kayaks, miniature golfing and the arts and crafts room are at very reasonable prices. We were able to do a lot over the weekend! Thank you Jellystone for continuing to make my family create good memories!
We stayed for 4 nights at site 1502 near the pool. The first 2 nights were great, but there was a concert on the 3rd night. The volume was uncomfortably loud to the point our RV was vibrating. We called and asked about it and they said it was going to be playing until 10pm (3 hours). Had we known there was a concert taking place, we would have asked to be located somewhere away from the noise. Other issues include golf cart drivers thinking this is a race zone - I had several pass me on the left while driving my car and even witnessed someone race past someone in order to splash them from a large puddle. The trees are an issue for big rigs. I love trees, but I dont like when they scrape my RVs roof and when its difficult to manipulate my rig between them. The sites themselves are too short for large rigs (we have a 37 foot class A.) Positives of the park include nice pools, good size lake for fishing, on-site store and restaurant (pizza, hot dogs, ice cream, etc), and friendly staff. Id stay here again but Id ask to stay away from the pools/music areas, and avoid going anywhere near the golf cart race track zone.
The grounds were nice. The staff was friendly. I would like to give the place five stars. What killed it was the overnight problems. I was in the primitive camping area called the outback. There were three groups of of people closest to the restrooms that played music loud enough to be invasive 50 yards away. They also were drag racing golf carts through the campground.I called three times the first night to complain about the noise and disturbance of the golf carts after 11 pm, which is the start of quiet hours. After the third call at midnight with no real resolution, we gave up. The music did not stop until 2:30 in the morning.I made a formal complaint the next morning and was told they had received several other complaints about the noise level. I was assured that security would patrol the area more frequently for Saturday night. There was no change in the number of patrols and the music was just as loud. Three more calls to complain about the violation of the quiet time rules and the music was loudly played until 2:00 am.Not only did the after hours security not uphold the rules of the resort, the desk staff lied to my face when a formal complaint was made. They will not get any business from us again. This level of service cost $96.00 for a primitive camp site for two nights and $130.00 for a golf cart rental.
We love yogi. The place is so fun and always has fun activities going on. They’ve stepped it up this past year. Only downfall is that if we didn’t have thousand trails there’s no way we would pay their crazy expensive rate, which is a shame since we spend pretty much our whole summer here. Also, I have had issues with Christian at the front desk MULTIPLE times this summer. He has no idea any answers to any questions and not willing to find out. I’ve asked him for a specific site a few times and made him confirm it’s the same site and I call a few days later or show up to check in and somehow we have a different site. Very frustrating. This has happened to a family member of ours too with him. So if you get him ask for someone else because he has no idea what he’s doing
We stayed at this park over others on our way home from vacation because it looked to have so much to do. It had pool, water slides, and a lake. Everything was opened and staff was friendly but almost everything had a layer of dirt on it. Im ok with older resorts which this was but theres no reason for not cleaning it. Kiddie pool had dead bird and 6 ciggerette butts in it, went to another one and it had 17 frogs in it. Went to the bigger pools and they were ok. 90% of bathrooms were a covered in slime. Air conditioner in cabin was completely clogged with lint. I had to clean it to get it to blow cold air. We were told the seats on all paddle boats were broken (maybe 10 boats?). The blow ups on the lake were only 1/2 inflated and full of geese poop. We paid for 2 nights before seeing the place I would have probably only stayed one. This park would be a very nice place if just some cleaning attention was paid.
We had a great time (Aug. 2016)! Lots of amenities & activities for the kids. The staff was nice. The W/E/S sites were a nice size. We would recommend getting a golf cart. The beach was ok. The bathrooms really need updating & they could enforce quiet hours a little better, but overall, no real complaints, we would Definitely go back!
The issue we ran into when staying here was our campsite. We were right near a pool which was closed and needed to be drained due to someone breaking glass in/around it. They drained it right into the road that eventually pooled up at our campsite. Staff acknowledged it and said they would get someone to come and vacuum it out. That never happened until I called the front office to complain. They offered me a new campsite but we declined since our friends were right next to us. That was the end of that.. no refund, no free wrist bands, nothing.Everything but the pools cost extra which is ridiculous considering I paid about $90 a night to stay there. I dont think Ill be back.
Great place for whole family! AMAZING food, ice cream and snacks as well as Fishing, beaches, swimming pools, hot tubs, activities daily, every weekend has a different theme, dances, live, music, paddle boats, mini golf and much more! Go and enjoy the night, weekend or even become an annual.
What a fun Halloween weekend! Appreciated the staff wearing masks when closer than 6 feet for extended period of times though rarely saw anyone close for extended amounts of time lol, and indoors it is much appreciated in these times great job keeping us safe Yogi thank you! The haunted walk and costume contest was so much fun cant wait to do it again next year!
We LOVE Yogi! My mother in law is a yearly camper there and has been for 20 years. I have only been going there for the last 4-5 years but we love every bit of it.There was a while where the place was getting pretty run down and things werent getting taken care of, activities werent being run properly or at all, and things were just kinda sad.however the park as come under new management in the last few months and already we can see a great improvement. someone who actually cares about things is in charge and it shows! entry gates have been replaced, signage updated.. there was actually park placed decorations around this weekend for Halloween!we love bringing our kids to the park, and hope to one day have a camper of our own to visit weekly!
Not all that impressed. Staying 2 weeknights. I planned on getting a cart the full day we were there. That morning was told 2 night min. Nowhere does it say that nor anyone tell me as we checked in. Would not let me pay for one day. Was never told about wristbands for the activities they have. Pools close during the day. I paid for the first 2 activities and then got the wristbands otherwise $$$. Very large, and seemed very clean which made it 3 stars. Front desk staff, worthless. Dont think well go back. Their are better Yogi options, cheaper too.
First trip to the park. Well maintained and clean. Quiet and peaceful atmosphere with lots of activities for both children and adults. We had a nice lunch at the Snack Shack where everything was cooked fresh to order. The employees were friendly and helpful. I will be back!
I had such high hopes for this place. It really disappointed me! If you don’t have an RV or something with full hook up don’t stay here! The bathroom’s are nasty to say the least! I would not even use the showers to wash my dog. The pools need to be redone same for the hot tub. This campground could be so much better. We where booked for 4 days but left after just 24 hours. There is a lot to do and the grounds and staff are friendly. I would suggest cabin with bathroom or full hook up.
My sister and I and our combined 5 children camped here for a week in late July 2014. We had a very good experience. Restrooms clean, pools clean (3 pools to choose from) crafts available when we wanted them in air conditioned building! :) We rode bicycles all around the campground and in the outback which is a nice long ride through and around the woods. There was plenty to do! Mini putt was one of our favorites along with the kayaks and waterslide. Our spot was shaded, pull through and level. It was water/sewer/electric.....well worth the price.I imagine that this place is packed on the holiday weekends. I think anyone can expect that. We prefer camping on non-holiday weekends and this place is worth its salt if you have active children.
This place used to be so much better when it was run by the O’Connells. For crust pizza took an hour and a half to get one. You get to the pool at 10 o’clock when it’s supposed to open in every single chair already has a towel on it and it’s all one family. If you don’t open at 10 you should give everybody a chance to get a shade Chair or any kind of chair. We go to the snack bar it opens at 9 o’clock we walk in there and they tell us that they’re not open yet as four people are standing around talking. All Yogi staff. I used to tell everybody how wonderful it was here I would never come back again the pools were disgusting not clean. You think paying $80 a night it would be nice and clean friendly and a wonderful place but it is not. I hope you take my advice because I’ve been camping for over 25 years. I have never been so disappointed.
My family and I had a really great time when we went the weekend of July 4th. We stayed in a cabin. The floors werent so clean but we still had lots of fun. We had so much fun we are going back again. This time we hope to have the same amazing experience. Although there were some things that werent working well that weekend. Our convinient pool was usually closed, and this didnt bother my family and I but the bathroom lights were very dirty of dust and insects. But other than definitely recommend it!!
We LOVE this campground! We go every other weekend (typically to Jellystone Warrens) and this is our new favorite place. Very clean and staff is friendly, especially Jackie who is really helpful and genuine. Tons of stuff to do, prices are really reasonable, we made some good friends while here. We love you Warrens but you can find us at OConnells!
The pros and cons.Pro: the grounds are gorgeous. Ideal setting in West Illinois.Pro: the fishing is fantastic. Perfect amount of bite for little kids. Well stocked lakes/quarries. Every other cast resulted in a fish of some sort (mostly bullhead / panfish).Con: the venue is oversold. The mixed use of private/public sites is well laid out but the public sites available are too dense.Con: Overcrowding leads to porta pottys that need to be emptied ever day. The remodeling of the central bathroom areas is not yet complete so the porta pottys near here become a health hazard if not cleaned and drained daily.Con: lax enforcement of the rules. Quiet time is listed as 11. That rule needs to enforced immediately. Violaters should be requested to leave at the 2nd notice.Pro/Con: the rental of golf carts to travel about is a nice amenity, but becomes a hazard at night. Too many examples to list. And with little kids about, its only a matter of time before an accident occurs. So, until the bathrooms are complete, and security starts sending a message (fines), caveat emptor.
After having been to many Yogi Bears and general campgrounds, we were disappointed. Will not be back. The W/E campsites were the smallest Ive ever seen. Our neighbors were right on top of us. It was so awkward. There was 1 shared electrical box with only 2 plug-ins for 4 campsites... and then people from the tent sites would walk over and unplug us to use the electricity too? The sites with sewer did look bigger and were in a much nicer area. Lots of big groups (aka parties). Loudest campsite Ive ever been to. Quiet hours 11pm not enforced. We got very little sleep. The office on Fri afternoon was unorganized, came across as stressed and very unwelcoming. We brought our bikes and it wasnt real safe to let the kids go on their own... golf carts are cruisin non-stop. Kids enjoyed activities; however, there is extra fees for crafts, waterslide, mini golf, water boats, etc.. Characters had limited appearances. The DJ dance on Sat night was fun. Overall, this one just doesnt measure up to what weve come to expect ($$) compared to other Yogi Bear campgrounds.
Very fun each year we go, by we I mean my family, we have lots of fun at the pools, the snack bar and at the campsite outback with a nice bonfire hugging you with its heat emmiting from the smoke. All teared eye because of it but, it feels good. It feels good to not have phones, or technology with us for a whole weekend or maybe even 2 weeks or 3 or 4, its just a splendid feeling one gets when theyre eith their whole family at once surrounding a bonfire while chomping down on some chips or burgers or hot dogs. Just amazing.
It was a nice vacation. However the pool bathrooms where my siblings and I bathed, it was some what dirty and gross. The cabin we stayed in was small for us beacuse It was my 7 siblings, 2 parents, and I and we stayed in 2 room cabin. We had been falsely giving a tent site near bathrooms however those bathrooms were out of order so we where moved.
Fantastic Campground!!!!! Would be perfect if they would enforce the speed limits in the park. Kind of stressful to walk when you have to dodge golf carts everywhere. One of the prettiest lakes we ever seen and the walk around it was amazing. The outback is absolutely beautiful!!!!!
This was our first and last stay at this campground. Before booking at any campground I read reviews. The reviews werent great but it sounded like there were lots a activities for my grandchildren, and it wasnt too far from home, so I booked Memorial Day weekend. We arrived on Friday and were given our site number. We had to pull our 36 trailer off to the side so we could figure out where to go. As we were looking at the map a nice man drove up on a golf cart and escorted us to our site. When we reached our pull thru site my husband said to the man I can pull it in, but how do I get out? There are two trees close together and a very narrow road to turn on to. This was not a site for a 36 trailer. When we arrived at our new site I noticed that there was no fire ring. There was a maintenance man working at the trailer next to us so I politely asked him if he could get us a fire ring. This was about 3:30 pm. At 6 pm we still had no fire ring, so I called up to the office and was told someone would be right out with one. Around 7:30 pm still no fire ring, so I called again. After the third call a nice man brought us a ring. Saturday we decided to go swimming. We tried Booboos pool first. It was very crowded but nice because there is an over hang shelter to keep the sun off. We came back to our trailer for lunch and to let the kids rest a little. After lunch the kids wanted to go to Yogis pool. It was so gross! The water was very cloudy and there was all kinds of stuff floating in the pool. We left there and thought wed try Cindys pool. Cindys pool was just as gross So we headed back to Booboos pool. It was extremely crowded but it was a relief from the 90 degree weather. Later that evening we went to the Rangers Station for some soft serve ice cream. We stood in line for at least a half an hour. The soft serve ice cream was good. As my family waited in line I went out on the deck , which is in very poor condition. There was a man fishing with his son and he actually caught a chair. yes I said a card table style folding chair. Looking around I noticed Cindy Bears Cottage, which was in such rundown condition, from rotting wood to broken steps. Sunday the kids wanted to go swimming again. As we were getting ready to head down to the pool Matt, a park employee, drove up on a golf cart and told us a transformer had blown and the entire park was shut down. We had no air conditioning no swimming pool and its 90 out again. There is a swimming beach that he told us about so we headed there. The grandkids loved playing in the sand and swimming in the lake. Luckily, Com Ed came fairly quick and was able to restore the power within a few hours. After a late lunch Sunday afternoon we decided to go back to Booboos pool. It was very crowded and the water was disgusting. After about an hour or so there, Matt came and announced that the pool needed to be cleared out for maintenance. So back we go to the camper and cook dinner. We head back to the Rangers station to find out that they stopped serving ice cream at 8:00 pm because their ice cream machine wasnt working properly because of the power problems. It is like a campground city, filled with golf carts racing all over the park. The rules say no one under 18 can drive a cart, but it is not enforced. Where our site was, was like a freeway. We do not blame the park for the electric issues as we understand stuff happens. What I dont understand is why this place is so run down, the picnic tables at the Rangers station are disgustingly filthy and in need of a fresh coat of paint. The wooden tables are in need of repair. At our site we had a view of, at least, 50 old abandoned trailers. We left Monday to find the main road out of the park blocked by a sheriffs patrol car and yellow tape. We are informed that there was a bomb threat. What we dont understand is why they didnt inform the guests. Disappointed!!!!
That park is great. Camped there many times. If you stay past the weekend, youll wake up to an empty park. Monday-wednesday is slow. I recommend wednesday-sunday. So much to do. Its not like real camping, with waterslides and built in pools. Amboy is close, if u need groceries or resturant.
One of the best family oriented campground destinations in the Midwest. Even first time campers cant go wrong. Not sure, even if you tried, to not have a great time. Full time Park Staff willing to go out of their way to make your stay amazing and may even stop by the campfire for a smore if you invite them.
We just stayed at this park this past weekend, overall the park is nice lots to do for the kids the lots are spacious, BUT THE SHOWERS ARE AWFUL! Have the owners heard that there are people called plumbers, tile experts and drywall experts?Showers and bathrooms require continual maintentence AND CLEANING! Unless you are roughing it or own your own fully equipped RV you need a shower. You really disappointed us with the unfriendly staff too. No smiles no thank yous no have a nice day or thank you for staying with us. If your people dont like their job they need to find another job.
I have been going to this Yogi location for the last 10 years and after this trip it will be my last. Not only is it overpriced for camping but none of the activities were included with your stay. They are now charging 15 dollars for a wrist bracelet for kids activities, so basically just the pool is included. Also the staff is rude, and seemed like we were targeted by one of the patrol Andy who seemed like he was stalking our group looking for any mistake we made, and actually following us around. This is camping, not a prison. These people need to relax because thats what people are paying to come and do. Everyone there needs to be more Yogif riendly!!
This is my first time here and my family and I felt very uncomfortable with the staff here. They were rude to us. Im not sure if it was because we are Hispanic or because they hate their job. We werent guided with anything; not with any areas, prices or anything. Jordan was the one that registered us and was unprofessional. She was speaking with another staff member amongst each other while we were standing right there. There was only one bathroom open.! We asked if the others could be opened and they shrugged their shoulders. We had fun on own but customer service is horrible.
Went there yesterday thinking about getting a job. So I went with a friend that works there to show me around and meet other co-workers. When meeting co-workers I told them I was interested into applying there they quickly said back, Dont Work Here. Are manager is a B*TCH! At 1st I took that with a grain of salt but then I just kept hearing the same thing over and over. Next I went to the pool and at 1st it felt relaxing until I realized there was bugs swimming with me, so not the best swim. After that i went to the water slides thinking the experience would be better... I was wrong. The 1st slide went a little too fast and cut up my elbows, and the 2nd slide I went down and got stuck because of no oil added to the slide. So I ended up pushing myself down the slide getting a wedgie and looking like a fool to the lifeguards. Finally the workers, the couple hours I was there they seemed nice but really they did not wanna be working at OConnells Yogi Bear Park. You could tell how they talked and how they acted towards there job they did not wanna be there. So in all me being at Yogis for just those couple of hours I would not come back not even for a Job interview. But if you dont believe my review you can read the other 28 experiences other poor campers had there. Thanks for Reading
Visited about a week or so and yes some of the reviews are right that the place is not what it used to be and is a little run down. However, my family and I enjoyed our stay for the most part. . One thing that did irk my nerve was a rude young female employee in the snack bar who literally pushed my icecream cone at me and instead of apologizing that it falls over she gets mad rolls her eyes and starts slamming things in the back as I am literally standing at the window. A different time I went during my stay there was a friendly gentleman taking my order and he tells her what we ordered and this same girl is there preparing. Of coarse she is rolling her eyes and giving the guy who is passing her the order an attitude and making rude remarks.. lets not forget body language speaks and we can also hear everything she is saying. They should definitely let her go or give her a training on customer service. Suggestion: I really wish pools would stay open until 11 every day.
This is a copy of the e-mail I sent to the management of the campground. As of today, 8-23-2017, still no response. I will be sticking with KOAs from now on.To Whom it May Concern,I just returned home from a four night stay at your Jellystone Park in Amboy, Illinois. Our reservation was from 8/11/2017 through 8/15/2017. Before I leave my ratings of our stay on-line I would like to address a few things. First, the good. The staff you had working with the kids for the various activities throughout the park were excellent with the kids. They were very engaging and personable. Our kids had a great time during these planned activities. Unfortunately, this is the only positive I can say about our stay. While I can understand that good seasonal help is hard to get and keep, the majority of the kids that are working for you were unprofessional, to say the least. Starting with the two that escorted us to our campsite who couldnt be bothered to get off their golf cart and show us the exact site. When I asked which site was mine the driver pointed and drove off with no words exchanged. I do understand that the park was full this weekend and that everyone was busy, but, these two young men barely stopped their golf cart before driving off. This remained the theme throughout our entire stay. The younger staff seemed to be inconvenienced when questioned or asked to do something. Our biggest complaint, however, was with the bathroom facilities. Again, I understand the park was full on Friday and Saturday nights, but, the bathrooms were filthy every night of our stay. Garbage overflowing in trash cans, trash in the showers along with mold. The most alarming thing were the used female hygiene products on the floor of the showers three out of the four times my wife and daughter showered in the bath house. I can understand being unable to keep up with the bathroom cleaning schedule on a Saturday night at full capacity, but, not on a Monday night with less than a third of the park full. It was to the point that my eight year old daughter kept referencing the used pads and tampons as the dirty diapers on the shower floor. This is unacceptable. We also took cold showers on three of the four nights. On Monday night we actually traveled to a second bath house in search of hot water with no luck. It wasnt a pleasant experience giving an eight and a six year old a cold shower. I actually tried to address the shower situation with one of your available staff members, but again, was met with a less than enthusiastic response. Today (8-15-2017) I tried to speak with a manager twice about the above listed items. The first time I waited twenty minutes while one was summoned via walkie talkie only to be told they were busy in another part of the park. The second time I asked was when I checked out. I was told at that time there wasnt a manager on the premises. Needless to say we werent the happiest of campers leaving your park. Please dont get me wrong, you do have some great employees who are fabulous with kids and for that I am appreciative. I just wanted to write you this to see if there were some special circumstances this weekend as to why the conditions were subpar. I really hate to slam a place on-line without first trying to make an effort to speak with someone. As of now there is no way I could recommend this place to my fellow campers whether in person or on-line. If you have any questions or need more specifics please dont hesitate to call or e-mail.Update: Tried to send this email out the evening I got home 8-15-2017 and kept getting hit with this error message through the website- The specified URL is inaccessible at this time. I had to call the 800 number to get this email address. Hopefully this gets to the right person.
This Jelly Stone was a bit of a let down at first. The fact that campers dont automatically get to do the fun activities: put put golf and the water slides, to be precise, cost way too much to say where already paid to camp... it feels like a bit of a RIP off... not to mention it looked like the water slide had maybe 5 kids on it the entire 4 days we were there. They should just include it all let the kids play...and then the arcade room is all about tokens and tickets with very few actual video games, just drop this over priced token down the hole and collect some tickets if you got any is not how we roll (pun intended). However, once the kids dropped their gimmies for the rubbish arcade games and the slide that just wasnt in the budget, and they moved to the early great bouncy/obstacle course out on the front pond, we were hooked. We spent hours there and really DID enjoy our time.In the end, we had so much fun on the obstacle lake that the place gets a 4th star.
Had not been there for 5 years, it used to be way, WAY better! When we arrived I had to go to the mens room and on top of the urinal there was a dark yellow stain and 2 somewhat unique (curled) hairs. Right before leaving after checking out I thought it was a good idea to hit the mens room (It is a 2-3 hr ride back depending on traffic) AND GUESS WHAT? What looked exactly same stain and the 2 hairs were STILL there; 4 DAYS LATER! It is definitely what looks like a rundown camping ground, VERY little improvement to the grounds and incompetent staff (both on the front desk and on the sites) My kids are grown up and do not have any grandkids as of now, I will not take them to this place when they come! BTW, They do have worked on their fees, we paid for tent camping (first time ever AND LAST, I hope!) the same we used to pay for a 32 feet motorhome with full hookups 5 years ago!
Not as advertised. Disappointed with the cleanliness of restrooms and pools. Advertised as free WiFi, but it did not work in most of the park. The cabin was dirty and the AC window unit could not keep up with the heat in the 2 room option, so sleeping conditions were hot and dirty (cobwebs, layers of grim on ceiling fans, dirty floors and windows, etc). Many hidden fees for activities including water slides, putt-putt golf and kayaking/paddle boats. Weve been to other Jellystone campgrounds in the past and this one does not compare to the cleanliness and fun activities the others offered for less money.
Went over the labor weekend , they had lots of activities planned through out the day and into the evening. So lots to do it was Yoji BirthdayBash as well, was fun for the kids to take pictures with both Yoji and Cindy bear. The lot size was very large was part of the new expansion clean and updated . The only negative thing i have to say is this older guy on a golf cart whom worked there yelled at our two kids for riding there bikes right after dawn yes we were walking right behind them but yet there were a ton of kids still riding there bikes that was uncalled for he may need a lesson in customer service .. we can see ourselves going back
Great getaway place, clean cabins lots of things to do. If you dont have AT&T service you will be completely disconnected from the world. They do offer WiFi for a daily fee. They have signal blockers thru out the park not even GPS gets thru once you enter the park. No TV Signal either so bring DVDs if you want to watch anything on the cabin TVs.
I used to go here every year for the past 15 years, but the last 2 years I went there I was so dissapointed. The prices are far too high, and the facilities were in bad conditions even during peak season- 4th of July. The staff members were very rude and not well informed of safety procedures. For example, there was a large storm approaching and we asked where we would go for a tornado (hypothetically speaking) and he shrugged his shoulders and left. No more caring about customer SAFETY?! Finally, a family friend forgot something small up there and they found it, to which they were very grateful; However, they were nasty on the phone and refused to ship it back even at their expense. We live near Chicago, so its a hike to get out out to Amboy. I have lost ALL respect for this campground, barely deserves 1 star, but they cant be rated any lower. Its VERY sad to say, but I will not be going back ever again. The place that once brought me so much joy (second to Christmas) when I was younger is now somewhere I refuse to return to.
Overcharged us by over 100.00...was told manager of odonnell would call..never yet..had charcoal grill vs gas grill added another 31.00 to what we had to pay. Had a deluxe pm..water was horrible..couldnt use for cooking or shower. Am still waiting to hear from manager...been almost 2 weeks since we left a midweek stay..the midweek special was better than military disc we got...hope to hear from them
They were rather discriminatory against us. They ased us things that they didnt ask anyone else, i.e. to turn down our music, but they didnt ask others who had louder music to turn it down; asked us to show our wristbands to drive the golf cart but did not ask others and some were even younger children who were driving and they did not get asked, etc.
Staff was rude, they didnt know the park and lead you on wild goose chases trying to find things. Park its self was decent, decent prices. Internet, we were told it was included with the price but we went to the office and the lady on the frount counter (she was new and the only one willing to help answer questions) didnt even know there was internet there. And when we did find awnsers, it was rediculous prices. You had to pay for literally everything because nothing is included with your camp site. Very sad.
Great Place for the family. Friendly staff. If you do the hayrackride ask for Rylan. He makes being here a joy and the kids love him. Only semi-complaint is the two water slides, mini -golf, and paddle boats are a Lil extra although not outrageous extra. Would highly recommend to anyone.
This place sucks, stuff cant fix anything in a commun and decent way. They have some very stupid rules just to take aventage of the customers. Economically I had a very bad experience renting a wolf cart from this place, the cart was very old piece of junk stop working while a had it and they charged me $273 to fix that junk. Plus, they had a different manager every time that I called in and I had to explain everything over and over again
We have camped at amboy since my oldest was 6, he is now 25. this is the worst time we have ever had. one night all the bathrooms were raided for paper products and when i told a patrol watch guy he said not his problem and just drove off. For the most part the staff just wants to party and screw around. They have 3-4 workers doing nothing but watching one person do their job. place hasnt had any upkeep in years. they mini golf has been an eyesore for years and when something breaks they just remove that part. One positive is rylan adams, he was awesome the whole 6 days we were there camping. just not what it used to be when the oconnells ran it and actually cared about the people spending there money there. and the owner will not let the sheriff department in to do there normal drive thrus and such. so you lives are in your own hands there..
Very nice campground offering many camping options. My family and I have been visiting this site for many years and always enjoy the many activities that are available. Check out the camps website as many special events are held throughout the summer months such as live music and other activities.
For 13 years we have gone to Yogi Bears Campground, and it has been getting worse every year. We always go camp in the outback and the bathrooms suck they dirty as hell people taking a shower and we over here almost pissing our pants. the old bathrooms were better I dont know why they changed them. Every year they get cheaper the fireworks for 2014 sucked. It just isnt the same anymore. They starting to pave the roads now I thought we were camping not in the city. Theyre making a lot of money and the campground is getting more worse.
The one star is for customer service - which is nill. As campers we all share in just wanting to have the experience and beyond checking in hope to never see an employ again. God forbid you do need help and when the time arises you pray it goes smooth and fast. Nope. The worst I’ve had in the year and a half of full time RVing. I wouldn’t avoid this place because like most times you arrive check in and never have to deal with anyone after that. Just be aware that if you do need help - a world of pain will follow.
I love Yogi!! Ive been going for over 11years.The younger staff definitely needs more training in customer service/care/upselling. But the older staff make up for it!!! I give it a five because of the older staff who goes above and beyond.Other than that, we payed at least $200night for 5 days and the mattresses were beyond dissapointing for the price. Hopefully theyll work these kinks out by October when we return..
Ive been camping at Yogi Bears since I was 3. I am a seasonal at the Yogi Bear located about an hour away from this Yogi in Amboy. My family stayed August 14 to 16th. We paid 134 dollars for 2 nights with water and electric for the people in the site next to us to not only be very disrespectful and loud, but unplug our 1 extension cord continously as well as have a blown up bouncy house hitting my tent and their kids constantly throwing balls at...when I went into the office and complained twice, a staff was sent but nothing happened and they were allowed 3 vehicles to their 2 sites...we werent at the site that much, so I can over look that. Every pool was filled...extremely full. So a few times we went to the beach..do NOT! I repeat do NOT go to the beach...our sons of 4 and 5 were eaten up by sand fleas and mites. Found that out today when their schools sent them home for chicken pox. Doctor told us it was swimmers rash and sand mites/fleas. They had an allergic reaction...no where is that posted! They didnt take our complaints seriously, didnt warn about the health hazards, and if youre not getting a site to yourself, youre crammed with 4 others and who might not appreciate the rules and thats not the staffs fault...wont be moving our annual from Milbrook Yogi to here anytime soon!
We spent labor day weekend here we had lots of fun our experience was ggood, we werent able to rent a golf cart so it was a bit of a struggle to get aroundI didnt know I had to rent one in advance therefore we had to use our vehicle to come and go Witch was a bit stressful the rest rooms need more attentionOther than that it was a nice experience. Dear Mr owner with all the respect perhaps you should take Into consideration upgrading both showers and bathroomsOf Women and Men and other little details like swimming pools, the campsite is nice, it will be worthy if you did some changes, I myself is considering to go back it was our first time coming there and like I said we had a nice experience.
Dustin did a super job on getting YogiBear Jellystone Park back up and running after the flood that came through in May 30 - June 3, 2019. He put us up in Mendota Hills for 3 days. Mendota Hills even put us in a nice park model for our stay there which was greatly appreciated. Mendota gave us some meals til we got a vehicle to get our own food.
The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting I cannot stress this enough there was poop clogged in all the women’s toilets and blood on the seats as well as toilet paper all over in the toilets by the rec center terrible campground the prices are extremely high and they treat there staff terrible. Don’t support this place
VERY DISAPPOINTING SERVICE, We have been going to this Jellystone for 5 years as of last year. We drove out from Chicago to make our Vacation reservations and we ask to see the new Dexluxe park model, we usually rent a standard park model, we were told very rudely , that they didnt have someone to take us to the cabin because she had to send an employeeto break. I said we will wait until he comes back. She then said that they dont give tours.

2022-06-12Came to visit our daughter. This place is not worth the money. The one bench in the picnic table was broke. Big holes on the camp site. Your camping on grass. For what it costs it should be paved sites. Most of the activities were closed. Pools nasty. I could go on and on. Don’t waste your money.

2022-05-17No clarity on times, told on the phone checkout was 11am, paper in the room says 12 noon, the paperwork with my access code says 1pm.Had issues with the cheap DVD player, called front office, house keeping went home. Was told a ranger would stop by, nobody ever came. Also had to have my entry code reset after the 1st day, got locked out of my room. Luckily the office was open. Just another thing gone wrong as I went there to relax. And check-in times are ridiculous with a 3 hour window.Check in between 4 & 7 pm, office closed after.Nice clean place though, but they have soooo much to do !!!

2022-04-28We have stayed here tons of times and we love it , however , the prices have become unaffordable for families looking to get away . $172 per night for a rustic cabin with no bathrooms is totally crazy . I would give them 5 stars if it weren’t for the insane prices . We are dropping more money on camping than we are at Wisconsin dells water parks . Such a shame . This will absolutely stop us from visiting amboy jellystone. A for sure downer for my family considering we have stayed here for the past 10 plus years .

2022-05-09Place Is a mess with reconfiguring the park entrance. Other roads in the park are loaded with potholes. Dont even have paddle boats and kayaks in water yet. Its mid May people. How about adding another pool instead of more crowding by adding more campsites?

2021-09-19Good campground with service for all types of camping. Full service 50 amp and 30 amp sites. With every thing in between. I would say they are definitely on the expensive side but if you have young kids or teens they should have a blast. Multiple pools, arcade games, water slides, and mini golf just to name a few things to do. Every weekend they have some type of event going on with even more to do. I think my biggest negative it that is a very loud and active campground with lots of golf carts. Best way to put it if you are looking for a quiet campground to get away for civilization for a few day this wouldnt be it. But if you want an active campground with lots to do this is for you.

2021-10-01This place is just terrible. If you have older kids, 10+ theres plenty to do. For small children its incredibly dangerous. People speeding everywhere on their golf carts, many drunk. Many sites dont have fire pit rings or even rocks, no safe walking paths for non golf carters. The music at night was atrocious. It could be heard everywhere, it was very difficult to put our children to sleep. Most things were run down, the place itself was just...ugly. No trails, there was so much commotion that you couldnt hear any nature. This isnt camping. I was visiting family there, but I cant imagine paying $85 a night to stay in this trailer park.

2021-07-27Great campground with mostly pull through sites and plenty of amenities for everyone to enjoy. The sites here are large and the majority seem to be pull through sites. There are picnic tables and fire pits at each site as well as nice green grass. The amenities are the best of any park we’ve seen so far. There are two pools, waterslides, outdoor movie screen, snack shack, convenience store and a water obstacle course. It does get really crowded on the weekends. There were a lot of golf carts but for the most part everyone was considerate of those on foot.

2021-09-19Had a all around good time. The only part that I would say was discouraging was the snack bar time for a line of 3 people took almost 20 min to get 4 ice cream cones. Got a refund and the refund took 10 min. If you know the place is going to be busy please keep more than two people in the snack shack. My kids never got ice cream while we stayed for 2 days tried 3 times with same results.

2021-08-04We went Sunday through Wednesday and rented the stone patio cabin loved the trails by the lake and primitive camping, pools were great, people were very friendly dont have anything negative to say. It was very quiet and relaxing. Everything closes at 8 so if you are showing up late there is no where to get wood I wish I knew that. There is alot of construction for new sites and I can definitely see that making this place over crowded.
