We had a great time here. We went for the Architect Tour and stayed after to shop. Jack (the tour guide) was AMAZING. I learned a lot. Jack was very knowledgeable on the local everything. I truly enjoyed learning about the history of Chicago. He was not only informative but entertaining...Thanks Jack.
Cute to see since there’s a lot of hype around it. Nice walkways to enjoy the water scenery. Most of the rides weren’t on except for the big wheel. Food court didn’t seem to have any amazing options worth waiting in the long lineup for. It’s a “nice to see” if you got time.
This post is focused on Light up the Lake at Navy Pier. Included in your entrance fee was access to the beautiful light display, a train ride, Covid-19 friendly Santa Claus experience, ice-skating, and the best part a ride on the Centennial Wheel during the Holiday Season. I highly recommend doing the ride at night as the city is breathtaking this time of year. For a family of four, I felt it was a fantastic deal and our children loved it!
Headed to the Navy Pier for Pride at the Pier and it was a rainy start but that didn’t deter us! Love this place; lots to see and wonderful people watching. They have an inside shopping area and outside. Once the rain cleared the festivities didn’t disappoint! We even got on a pirate ship and my wife raised the sails. Although it’s touristy, check it out!!
I came on a weekend for two years now and Navy Pier is wonderful! You can walk along the Pier have a Cold Chicago 🍺 beer relax and enjoy the views. You can buy tickets there for all boat rides! Had a blast with Sea Dog⛵ Ride. Plenty of food choices inside the building stretching out long stretch gift shops. Lots of walking taking pictures enjoying the scenery 🤩🤩🤩 JUST BEAUTIFUL 😍😍😍
This was absolutely fantastic! Beautiful views and inside it blew cold air felt great! The line was SUPER long but it went surprisingly really fast we waited maybe 10ish minutes. However the parking is just ridiculously expensive Ive never paid this much for parking ever.
Just visit to Navy pier. It has so many things to do like great restaurants, theater, indoor garden, kids musium, ice skating during Christmas, boat rides, lake n City view n many more. If you just walk around also give you lots of positive energy. You can take great photos there.
This is a beautiful pier to walk out to the lake, however on Sunday, last week, we were there they were having some kind of ladies party in the building on the end and they were broadcasting outside and I have never heard the F word so many times, in public, in my life. The language they were using was absolutely the worst I have ever heard. We had to quickly leave the area. I am so sorry other people there with small children had to hear such vulgarity. It was truly an awful experience.
This place is a true jewel of Chicago. It’s a huge social hub where locals are mixing up with tourists. Here are cafes, bars, restaurants, tourists attractions, theater, expo center, etc. This place is magical: in one part it full of life and music and at the end of promenade you will find serenity and seagulls cries. I love it here in all seasons.
A multitude of reasons to come over to Chicago and spend some time at Navy Pier. The rides are fun, and only the first of choices to explore. There is shopping and food galore. Also lovely views and lots of places to walk. Selfie spots abound and the views of the lake are amazing. A must-see.
There are stores, restaurants, festival rides and much more. Its a nice place to hang out in the evening to see the downtown high risers in golden colors. Then during summer, at 9pm on Wed, and 10pm on Sat, hang around on the south eastern side of the pier to see a 10-minute fireworks.
Excellent place to go and have fun with friend or with family. We went one winter night and the sights are beautiful, the city looks so pretty. If you ara planning to go in winter, make sure you are well covered, as the wind can get pretty coldThere is a small place in the middle of the pier, where you can find food, bars, cafe and souvenirsThere is also the Toy museum, worth to see, although you can buy tickets from advance if you don’t want to make a line
I was born in Chicago and am growing pretty fast and funny thing was I have never been to Navy Pier. I decided to take me family out for the Christmas tree lighting the lake event 2 weeks ago. I had such a fun time looking at the all sorts of lightings and creations. The views from the Ferris wheel are incredible. Definitely visit if you are a tourist or just looking for something to do.
We went to experience light up the lake show. It was a wonderful experience. Lights were beautiful. Fun train ride for kids. Ice skating was also included. The centennial wheel was also amazing. It is fully covered and his pretty slow so you can enjoy the scenic view of the Chicago city and the lake. Plenty of places to eat inside as well. Plenty of parking available.
So much to do during winter and Summer . Carousel ride never fails to get me excited. Light up the lake is worth to see during Christmas. Due to covid, it is better to visit during weekdays since weekends are super crowded. The mask is still mandatory.Ticket prices are ; $26 per adult and $21 child(3-12) in weekends . Ticket includes; entrance to Light up the lake, ice skating, Carousel ride, and many more activities inside for kids with extra cost such as face painting, Santa etc .
Beautiful view of the city at night. Lots of shops, places to eat, clean bathrooms and an air conditioned place to escape the sun. There are also locations for boat rides to view the city, Id take the evening tour and bring a jacket or blanket as it gets cool on the boat tours in the evening.

He has never been, and I havent been in probably 18 years. Lots of really nice upgrades since I last went. Many really good food options, and cute gift shops. We took a ride on the Ferris Wheel and admired the beautiful scenery of the lake, and the city. The green room upstairs was completely blocked off for remodel, so that was a bummer. Would have loved to peek inside and see what was in there. Our only complaint was the mask policy inside the building. We know this isnt the business fault ... but they made it clear they were afraid of the police coming in and fining them if we didnt have a mask. (Im pretty sure the Chicago PD has better things to do than enforce a mask mandate of two fully vaccinate people) We will be back with our three children once the mask mandate is gone.Visited onWeekdayWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$21–30
This location has several attraction, you can walk on the deck for free or book the guided architecture boat tours, also jump into the Ferris Wheel 🎡!Good place for a walk with the kids, the dog and/or the family or friends. We were luck enough to come across a Dominican Republic festival, Carnavale (I think that was the name). Keep in mind that if you go in a windy day theres no much cover from it while in Navi Pier!!! 🌬️

The Ferris wheel was included with the tickets. Great deal! The staff was great the line moved quickly. The views were stunning and the cabin was warm. We rode the train, Santa took my sons letter and took pictures with them. Santa’s elf was funny! He made the line experience fun. The light displays were so cool!! And to end the experience Charles and Thelma closed the ice rink so my son could experience the ice rink because he’s in a wheelchair. Please make sure they both get recognized. They went above and beyond and made sure my son who’s in a wheelchair was able to also experience it. INCLUSIVITY IS EVERYTHING!! My heart is so full! Thank you for making it a great experience. We would love to go back again! Thank you Navy pier staff!! Happy Holidays!
Always love going to Navy Pier! Theres always something to do here. One of my favorite places to go for the best view of the city at night time. Whatever you are planning on doing there, I suggest purchasing tickets ahead of time. Otherwise you could be in for a long wait. I enjoy just going for a walk along the pier and seeing the view when Im able to make it out to Chicago.
Very busy but fun experience! I hadnt been here in over 15 years, and theyve done an excellent job with the place! The ferris wheel was a cool way to see the city and water. Definitely recommend doing it at night!!! The carousel was so much fun. The staff was helpful and nice. Be prepared for lots of kids and teens running around. Its excellent fun though!
A fun place to spend a few hours, something fun for every age. Family friendly, but they also have some fun for the adults. This also doubles as an event space, so just be aware and check ahead if an event will interfere with your plans. So much to do and see; especially getting some ironic views from the pier!
Exiting destination to visit on your trip to Chicago! Has a few places to grab a bite and a beer, as well as viewing the city skyline or architecture boat tours taking off from the Navy Pier. Also, take a water taxi to the planetarium if you have some time, but make a reservation in advance ;)
I’ve been to Chicago a few times and never went on the big Ferris wheel at Navy Pier, it’s not the MOST exciting thing ever, but you can’t deny the views. It only lasts around 10-15 min, but it’s plenty of time to snap lots of pics and video of the incredible skyline. I highly recommend checking out the Pier and going on the Ferris Wheel if you have the time.
Amazing place on lake. Must see tourist attractions. Beautiful Design and sculpture. Lots of placea to sit and restaurants. Unique gift stores. IMAX theater and live Shakespeare theater. Ice ring and huge one of kind Ferris wheel. Beautiful garden and children Museum and lot more stuff to do. Different cruise to enjoy. Say time bikes and other rentals available.
It was REALLY cold when we went, so we werent able to enjoy the outdoors like we would have liked, but there is plenty to still do. There are restaurants and shops inside and an enclosed heated/air conditioned Ferris Wheel outside. This is a must do so that you can see the city at sunset. So beautiful. Its $20 a person for about 10 minutes or less, but it was worth it.
Its free to get into the Navy Pier but once you get there the amount you spend is on your entertainment needs. Theres multiple restaurants with different types of food to purchase: chicken, pizza, burgers, nachos, tacos etc. They have stores to purchase clothing. Most of all you can purchase tickets for the boat tours, boat taxis, childrens museum, ferris wheel, theatre and more.
I love the Navy Pier in Chicago. Its so beautiful on Lake Michigan and the city view as well. This place moved me. It was great to ride the ferris wheel and look at the city and Lake Michigan in a different view. The pier wad awesome to walk with the stores and Shakespeare Theater. Looking forward to visiting again.
Beautiful place, but busy. Of course it was a weekend day. It is free to go to the pier, but parking fees will get you. There is a ferris wheel and other rides, which you do have to pay for. There are various food and drink vendors, including alcohol. You can, also go on boat tours. I will post more pictures later.
The view from the Centennial Wheel was amazing (3rd pic). But do not recommend going in the fall/ winter cause of the wind. It was a bit scary being at the peak of the wheel as the wind was coming through. But overall great experience. Not too long of a wait but again, it was windy and cold.
What a beautiful place to visit when in Chicago!!! We enjoyed the walks on Navy Pier boardwalk and the views were amazing of Lake Michigan with gorgeous weather for month of October ! A lot of restaurants to eat, beautiful spots to take pics and see Chicago Skyline and enjoy the ride on Ferris Wheel 👍👍Michigan Avenue shopping was walking distance with very nice architectural buildings!! A must visit 👍👍👍👍
If looking through architecture is your thing, this is it for you. I found this place boring. There were a lot of places to eat but you shouldnt spend a whole day here. Theres not a lot of activities here other than this ferris wheel and some carnival vibe rides, kid forrest museum. If you have kids, this is good place to hang out but it wasnt for me.Took photos and dipped out.
Took the UP-N Metra from Waukegan. Arrived in OTC in Chicago, headed to the Buckingham Fountain, worked our way up to Millennial Park to Navy Pier. Great place to spend the day and get your steps in. Upon arrival at Navy Pier to get on rides, you have to download an app to buy tickets for the big ferris wheel and many of the other activities. Cash isnt accepted at 99% of the shops on the pier. One definitely needs good walking shoes if you just want to walk everywhere. Ended up taking an lyft (picks you up at main entrance at Navy Pier) back to OTC, as we didnt realize we initially walked 13 miles 😳. But overall, an amazing day in Chicago!!!! ...rbb
Awesome place to visit! So many things to see. The ferris wheel was so amazing and a must do if you visit the Navy Pier. The Christmas lights were amazing and very beautiful. The restaurants here are a treat as you can grab a bite to eat and have a few drinks. What a beautiful place to visit. I really recommend coming here.
This place is very big and kid friendly. Has the biggest ferris wheel Ive ever seen also.Theres a huge indoor garden place there which is very impressive. And under that theres a very big and sprawled out Mall. I took many pictures but I dont think 50 are enough to show even a fraction of it.Would definitely go there again, but not in the rain.
We went to the Light up the Lake (the COVID replacement for the annual Winter Wonderfest) and we had a great time! We got our tickets at a discount on Cyber Monday but if you buy through Groupon, you can get the same discount. Our time slot was 5:30 pm on Saturday and it wasnt overly crowded, just enough people that it wasnt uncomfortable. Masks are required. The Christmas lights were amazing, some small most big, in different colored lights. Santa and Mrs. Claus were there on their sleigh and the kids can write their wish list and they read them and talk to the kids and you can take pictures which were beautiful. The cheapest package was $37. There was also a train for the kids to ride and enjoy, as well as face painting, ice skating and food options which were good for adults but bad for kids so I suggest eating at one of the restaurants at Navy Pier instead. After experiencing, everything we headed outside (the weather was ideal, low 40s), we walked around and enjoyed the lights and rode the Ferris Wheel, which is INCLUDED with your ticket and the line was not long at all and for our first time, it was great! A complete view of Lake Shore and the skyline, all lit up! And we had dinner at Giordanos around the corner. All in all, a good time!
Light up the lake @ Navy Pier which includes free ride at centinanal wheel is great attraction during winter. Night view during winter is great to see as it gets dark by 5pm. Light show is indoor and kids enjoy a lot!! Recommended to get online tickets to avoid waiting time.
I have been at least 4 times now, during my travels, friendly staff and not to busy in March when I usually go (my memories post came up and it’s been about every 3-5 years) the kids portion was closed, and the garden was closed this time but maybe next time. Lots of good food choices
A very popular spot slightly away from the downtown. There are no direct trains to this place. One needs to get down at Grand station and then take a bus which stops right beside the main entrance. The the view of the skyscrapers at the downtown is simply awesome, especially at night. There is also a food court in this place which has plenty of eating options. The place is usually busy. There are some rides for the kids. The ticket fare for Centennial wheel is 18 USD, Drop tower is 8 USD and Carousel is 9 USD which is quite reasonable. To sum it up, a must visit place.
Very very very beautiful!! Lots to do. A fun place for friends, family or your significant other. A few rides. Now that COVID is slowing up (for now lol) the boat tours/ yachts are now available. You can rent bikes or scooters. Lots of paths for sightseeing and pictures. Michigan ave is where all the stores are and nicer restaurants. Very busy as well lots of people.
Navy pier is the spot !!! First of all the scene is perfect for pictures with the Michigan lake, also one block down you have the tour bus that take you to the most iconic places ideal if you dont have too much time to be in the city. Navy pier has a few stores in and a pavilion with affordable prices. Is near to the aquarium too. Parking lot has plenty spots and price goes between 20-50$ depending how long you staying I was there for almost 5 hr with out no rush I walk took the bus ate and I pay 38$
Went to visit this place on memorial day weekend. It was so crowded, so busy but a awesome place to visit while roaming around Chicago. They have this ice cream booth it was pricey but you will not regret to buy one. And heads up on the parking ticket its too expensive.
Be prepared to pay top dollar, but always fun and a good experience. It was a weekday so not too much going on but still fun. The cruise boats and speed boat tours were open, the restaurants are nice, and good selection of tourist shops. However likely to find more reasonably priced items elsewhere. Such as Chinatown which was $3 to $10 cheaper.
When in downtown Chicago stopping at Navy Pier is a must. I have lived in Chicago all my life and I love going to Navy Pier. We like to walk around on the outside and/or do some shopping and eating on the inside. Our favorite restaurant has to be Billy Goat Tavern. We also love getting churros from Xurro. In the summer we love to see the fireworks, see live entertainment, and go on a boat ride.
If you’re in Chicago, don’t miss Navy Pier. Take a ride on their Wheel to see the city from a one of a kind perspective. My ankle was twisted and swollen when we visited. Walking was excruciating, but biking made traveling the city possible. I would have given Navy Pier a 5 star, but they made us dismount our bikes upon entry. Understandable, but I could have used the wheels. ;)
We had an ok time, but I feel that the employees should be better trained on how to help the customers.. we ask many employees about where stuff was and how to get to things and none of them were able to give any helpful information. I am handicapped so by the time my wife and 2 sons finally figured out where stuff was I was exhausted and had to sit out. This caused a lot of unneeded tension for my whole family. We came here to have a good family day and to explore to see if our sons wanted to come back for their birthdays in February.. they do want to come back but we dont want to waste out time wondering around blindly like we did today. Other than that we did have a good time and would love to have another chance to visit.
If in the area, stop by! Lots to do and see including plenty of A/C inside where needed. At the end (it can be windy) you’ll find the Miller Beer Garden with decent beer and pricing and music on the typical weekends. Plenty of small items for the kids including the centennial wheel, etc. (be prepared to wait 30+ minutes on weekends
Fantastic pier to spend the afternoon. There are plenty of food options, ice cream vendors, and places to sign up for sight seeing boat tours. There are multiple areas to sit and enjoy the boats running around the lake or just relax and people watch. It was almost 1.5 to walk the entirety of the pier which didn’t feel hard at all because of the spots to sit and relax for a bit.
Awesome, they have little beach area. Some amusement stuff to play with if you want to tkae your kids. Rent and ride bike or go for guided architectural tour on the boat. Theyve childrens museum, food courts, clothing stores. Sad part is most of them close around 9 pm.
The navy pier is a place that all cities should strive for. From the sheer space, attractions, walking, stores, eateries, event areas, and iconic views. The best part is that you can enter without any payment. This makes for a great destination for a date or with the family.
We had a great time an the navy pier! My wife were in town to see our daughter’s graduation from Navy boot camp. The pride swelled in our hearts as we walked the pier and took in all the sights. Great history, great food and an amazing atmosphere. Can’t wait until we get a chance to return. If you are in town, this is a must see.
If youre not from Chicago, you should definitely visit. Interesting shops and good food selection. Fun to visit in the summer with walking the pier and riding the ferris wheel. Get there an hour before opening and youll have great parking. Otherwise forget about finding a close spot. Parking pricing is also ridiculous. Uber it for sure.
We had a great time. Did the outside things first. It was less crowded then and .ore enjoyable. Got there at noon, we then, did the inside. Lots of food places, some souvenirs places, and children museum is only open Fri, Sat, and Sun. Bummer!!! We went Mon. Had a great time anyway!
How do you come to Chicago and not go to Navy Pier? They even have a hotel now! Try the big wheel and other amusement rides. Multiple locations for fast or sit down restaurant food. Take a boat for a sight seeing your or if you want something more exciting get on the SPEEDBOAT and have the most exciting high speed chase outside of Lake Shore Dive!
We went to light up the lake at Navy pier. The whole thing was okay. They literally made you walk past every vendor to get to light up the lake. I guess it wasnt that amazing for all the walking they make you do. It was a no re-entry, so you was stick paying about 5 dollars for a soda and they want 9 dollars for a cup of beer. The lines was long for everything. I had a wonderful time with my family and I guess that is the only thing that counts.
This place was dope!! We walked there through downtown Chicago just in time for our speed boat ride. That was AMAZING, then from there we entered the mall thing with the museum. The food and desert restaurants are great, the atmosphere is great, and the garden on the second floor is BEAUTIFUL!

2022-06-22Beautiful in the day time and even more beautiful at night. We visited on the weekend and it’s a place for everyone to walk, hangout, eat, relax, ride the Ferris wheel and lots to do. It gets packed and busy but fun for sure. I recommend this place.. one of the must visit in Chicago places. Fire work show was awesome as well it was not a disappointment. Was worth staying there till 10pm.

2022-06-21Our experience was very nice despite the hot weather. The staff was friendly and very informative. The Chicago Architect boat ride was fun. 1 The narrator was very informative and very friendly. I will not recommend taking this ride during 12 to 4 PM if the sun is out brightly. You will be sitting directly in the sun. There is some shade on the boat but you have to get there early.

2022-05-19Nice place for both adults and kids. Plenty of activities to do. Walking on the lake was fantastic. The view from the top of the wheel was amazing. The food court is huge, lot of foods to choose from. Both river and lake cruise are available if you interested. They got the river taxies as well. Lake water was not clean but the beauty of it will hypnotize for sure.

2022-05-17Went to Chicago for the day to celebrate my birthday! It was a great time. I cant wait to go back there! So much to see and do. We went on the Skyline Lake Tour; this is reasonably priced per person...this was great and relaxing!

2022-04-15Great place to enjoy and admire the skyline of Chicago. Navy Pier has many attractions, but the main one is the wheel which lets you observe the city from a high altitude and without any crowds. The stores inside are really good. There are plenty of restaurants of different kinds and different stores. Walking outside makes you feel why Chicago is called the Windy City.

2022-05-09Wonderful views of Chicago. I recommend going in the morning or afternoon when it is less crowded. This is a peak place to cut out of work for. You can just sit around and think about the world and how beautiful life is. This is one of the great gems of the city of Chicago. It is a tourist trap but one you dont mind getting trapped in. Look at all the sick pics of my friends.

2022-04-11Don’t miss this place when you are visiting Chicago, we love this place just beside the Michigan. Wonderful views just by the lack makes our heart joyful. The children’s museum and the giant wheel make the place more fascinating. In Evening you can explore a new look with the lights. Boat tours are also worthy.

2022-02-12If you are visiting Chicago then you must visit this place. The atmosphere is really beautiful here also there is a restaurant at the end of this pier which is the one of the best places to enjoy the fireworks🎇🎆.On most weekends there are fireworks here and you should not miss it. Please check the schedule and if you are thinking of watching it on a specific holiday then please go early based on the type of holiday so that you will get a good spot to see it.There have been occasions like 4th of July when it will reach its maximum capacity and you might have to then watch it from far away.

2022-05-12Love the place! We tried the Ferris wheels, it was quick but we were able to see the beautiful buildings from a topper view! We also had a boat tour between Chicago’s famous towers. I highly recommend visiting the Navy pier!

2022-06-20Anytime youre in Chicago, you have to visit Navy Pier. Its absolutely beautiful and fun to walk around. And if you get the chance, there is a firework show at Navy Pier Wednesday and Saturday nights from Memorial Day all the way through Labor Day weekend. We went on a Saturday night. They started at 10pm and went through 10:10pm. The fireworks were awesome!
