They are super nice the dental students as well as the dentists. The students do most of the work under the supervision of the dentists. Super informative and build great rapport with patients. My mom is being treated for some dental work. Thus, far they have been great. No complaints!
If you cant afford a regular dentist and/or need to spend a lot of $ on your teeth, I highly recommend the dental clinic. 4th year students and 3rd year helpers are supervised by dentists/teachers. I have been going here for 3 years and have had dentures, crowns, teeth pulled, root canals, and not only am happy with the work done, but have saved a fortune! Ive already recommended this to family and friends and they also have had good experiences. Especially these days, when less people have dental insurance, the dental school at Midwestern is a way to make sure you continue taking care of your dental health!
BEST EXPERIENCE FOR DENTAL CARE! I have been seen by over SEVEN of the students in the past 3 years and have received outstanding care and RESULTS, including emergency care for a cracked tooth during limited hours of the pandemic!Every student has meticulously prepared and executed detailed plans, choices and solutions for extractions, crowns, fillings and even repair to veneers. Their work has surpassed past dental care I paid Full Price for. All of their work, every single step, is inspected, reviewed and approved by EXPERIENCED and QUALIFIED dental professionals! I have never had any problematic issues. My latest experience with student Katie Allen, and her supporting student Haya S., has EXCEEDED my expectations. Katie has lead the team in pulling together all past work by color matching, aligning, brightening and perfecting my bite and smile! Katies work and endless dedication has kept her and Haya late in their workspace many times, making sure my experience and RESULTS surpassed her supervising staffs inspection and mine!My health, smile and most importantly, but unexpected, has been the boost to my self-esteem. I cant wait to be able to keep my MASK OFF FOR GOOD! Katie and Haya will have this patient following them into their professional practices.I highly recommend MIDWESTERN DENTAL! They produce quality dental work and OUTSTANDING DENTISTS!
This place is awesome, I have been here multiple times to get dental procedure.I have seven teeth pulled out in the same day. I was very nervous and scared. The students Manal Tabba-d4 and Kevin Santiago-d3, supervised by Dr. Magiera , all make sure I could not feel any pain and be comfortable during the process. They are very professional ,caring friendly and wonderful. OUTSTANDING CARE!!!You have brought MY SMILE back- thank you so much for your EXCELLENT care.I will recommend Midwestern University Dental Institute to every one who will need a dental care, they produce QUALITY DENTAL WORK !!!
I had been in a lot of pain for 2 weeks. My dentist told me I needed a root canal and that it was to cost me $2000 since my insurance for the year was running out. I was not going to be able to afford it! A friend had told me years ago about this place and I had never made time for it, since I havent had a need for dental work. Now, under pressure, I thought I will give it a try and I was very glad I did! I loved the place right from the very beginning. The staff was very friendly and accommodating: since my situation was an emergency, I got scheduled for the next day. The students that took my case were very knowledgeable and professional and so was their teacher! It turned out, they had a promotion of free root canal at the time!! I will be going back for my dental needs from now on! I am recommending this place to all my friends now. It is a great experience, indeed!
I went to the dental department. from the beginning great until the teeth became more complicated. they made a tooth that I was already 5 months ago. I try to call there all the time but without an answer. Im done with your whole institute. I just have problems and pain
I was told about this place from a lady in my book club and boy!! Im so Thankful for learning of them. Let me tell ya from the moment I stepped up to the entrance from security & guide they greeted me very nicely. The receptionist was very nice. Anyway I needed a Root Canal which even with dental insurance is very expensive out of pocket. So I went up stairs they were very nice here as well, Deandra, Brittany & Dr Christensen (who by the way was very funny, real good sense of humor) they were all great & performed great team work. (The dream team) you do pay with your time, but I had plenty of time and didnt mind at all. I got the root canal done, let me tell ya I didnt feel a thing, no discomfort whatsoever!! They talked to me throughout the procedure and made sure I was ok, in which I was. I left a very Happy customer, and would certainly recommend them at Midwestern Specialty clinics. Oh I havent even told ya there BEST PART OF IT ALL!! The procedure was #FREE $0.00 For the root canal that would have cost a grip out of pocket at my regular dentist (whom I love by the way) thank you all so much! I appreciate the services you provided to me!! 🤗🤗🤗 *****EDIT***** even though during or before the procedure was done & After I paid for the X-ray—- I was told the root canal & all it entailed was FREE!! I was sent a Bill 😐
My first experience started out pleasant enough with Jonathon. Then I was transferred onto another student, Natalie I think her name was, to finish some of the work. Talk about roughing up your patients. While she did a great job with the restoration of the tooth itself, likely something she gets graded on, she used a mirror with a very rough handle and kept digging it into the corner of my mouth. I felt she was doing it intentional, as she moved it back and forth several times, and Im talking extensively. It was like a cheese grater or metal file against the corner of my mouth. I didnt feel it so much until after the shot they gave me wore off. I looked in the mirror at home and the skin was red, raw and had formed a blister / scab from the abrasion that lasted a week. Awful. I complained and asked for another technician. The next one was Ryan. Not that much better. Doing the dental probes to measure pockets in your gum, it hurt like hell. Ive never experienced that, ever at any dentists office. Regular dentists are super gentle. Even the doctor that follows up with the exam was much gentler in checking them. The shot he gave me before a filling, in which the area was first numbed was fine enough, but then he goes completely outside of that area and sticks my gum with the needle really hard. I jumped and complained, and he says I warned ya. What the.....? Again, I felt it was intentional, either that or their students are using patients like practice guinea pigs with the lack of understanding in being gentle with patients. Seriously, they may as well have been shoving bamboo shoots under my finger nails.
I needed several crowns and money was an issue. They took care of all my dental issues and were really reasonable. If you can afford the time, they will save you money. The dentist I worked with was very capable and did a great job. Teachers are always nearby and have to check frequently. Great job!. I drive 40 min. to get there from northern suburbs.
Sat in chair for 7 hrs for a root canal and post put in, only to have tooth pulled 2 weeks later. It should have been seen all the the x-rays that were taken that the tooth was fractured . Had tooth pulled and was told to come back and I would be fitted with a flipper. Now there telling me I need to become a comprehension patient which will cost me even more money. All I’ve heard is money money . Their students 31/2 -4 hr visit shouldn’t cost me the amount they are charging .
I used to have nightmares about losing teeth. This place made my nightmares come true. My quality of life has diminished because of the tricks they played on me to get me to agree to let them pull a bunch of teeth out. They made a lot of promises about what they would do for me. Each step of the way I confirmed with them that the work I requested would be done, but there was always something they needed to do first. I make very clear that I did NOT want certain teeth pulled until we were ready for implants and a bridge.I was assured are reassured time and again that all was well, we were on track. Once they pulled out all of the teeth they wanted to they suddenly changed their policy and would not finish the work as agreed. They then proceeded to change their story 3 more times about why they were not going to do the work they had promised. Note that each step of the way, instructors were approving and agreeing. Once they could not justify pulling any more teeth, they were done with me.Clearly their main goal is to give the students pulling practice. They know that if you are coming there for service, you do not have resources to sue them. I would love to know how many people they have done this to. I know that several were screwed over as I was during the time I was there.
I have been here multiple times and I get excellent service everytime. I have also brought someone here for service because of the great performance these students give. My student, Miss Z. was kind, knowledgeable, and approachable. I have nothing but nice things to say about her. The other students were amazing too. I just want to thank the 2019 Students located in D-1 and D-2 for your service. I will always remember you, we can smile with confidence because of you❤
I graduated in late 2017 with my Doctorate in Dental Medicine. I have also been a patient of the dental institute and the multi specialty clinic for the last 3 years. For my dental clinical experience, I have had excellent faculty and deans to help me achieve my goals. I have had several set backs with needing multiple emergency surgeries. I am a perfect example of a person who needed good continuity of care and a multidisciplinary approach to my recovery.I have seen Dr. Huntington for family practice and osteopathic manipulative medicine. Concurrently, Dr. Dillon in physical therapy was able to work with my injuries and my busy schedule to make sure I was able to find some pain relief and proper healing. There are not enough words to describe everything that Dr. Huntington and Dr. Dillion have done for me. Dr. Huntington has been the quarterback and ringleader to coordinate care between all of my various doctors. She is able to listen to my concerns, discuss in layman terms, and see what option I felt most comfortable proceeding with. Her staff, the medical students, and colleagues are phenomenal to work with, kind and extremely helpful. I would recommend to my family and my friends.
I came here for my dental appointment, Howard and Marisa are very nice, while Howard was doing my teeth cleaning, he noticed I have sensitive tooth, so he recommended me to get a filling done, so my tooth can accept cold thing . And Marisa is awesome she buy sunglasses for patient to wear during dental visit
I went there for a free cleaning on my teeth back in March and had extraordinary service. The student dentist Giancarlo Cecchini did an outstanding job during that time and was very informative describing what he was looking at and what they were doing with me while I was in there. In addition to that, I recently had a tooth with fillings that popped out due to structural weakness. It turned out I needed a crown placed on one of my teeth that had been sensitive over the years and had work done on it prior that didnt fully fix the problem. Giancarlo was helpful getting me through this process as well and made sure to give me the support and care needed to relieve my mouth of this nuisance. Not only was my tooth prepared & fitted for the crown, but Giancarlo ensured that there was no additional bite issues with the crown in my mouth once he had it in and continued to work on it until it was perfect. This was all completed in the same morning, vs. previous experiences Ive had where I need to wait several days with a temporary crown before the real one is cemented in. They even had their faculty member on staff, Dr. Smith, coming in during the process to make sure that everything was taken care of and it felt better once they were done with the process. The end result is now that this tooth, which was very sensitive for the past several months, now feels great. Before I wouldnt chew or drink on that side of my mouth due to fear of pain, and now I do that without second thought.Overall awesome experience here and I would highly recommend this to anyone who is in need of dental assistance. The faculty and students were all very professional and Im glad to have a place like this so close to home.
Confidence Game at its Finest! Midwestern University Dental Institute in Downers Grove, in my humble opinion, is like highway robbery without a gun/weapon, the whole process, this is a frightful situation. My story is too long to place here but for what they put the patients through the services should be free, no cost. After taking my special needs daughter there for several months/visits I realized or it dawned on me that we were being bamboozled, hornswoggled, conned by these spin dentist.Weve been Hustled. We bowed out.
The student was wonderful very kind and helpful. I will not go back because of the supervisor. He asked me why I hadnt taken care of my problems. I had told him that I didnt have much money and my problems had gotten worse. He told me that I was just making excuses and there was no reason not to take care of my teeth. I left there in tears but came back the following appointment I got a special toothpaste and he rudely said make sure you dont share with your kids. If you get work done it does take time as they need to do things in steps.
Tried to call to make an appointment for screening at the Dental department. I called 4 times and left a voice mail but no one returned my calls... finally on the 5th time, a very rude black girl picked up the phone in a very lazy voice and seemed irritated to answer my questions. She hung up on me when I had more questions that I wanted to ask... It was overall a very short phone call but because it was my first time I wanted to know the services they provide and such but guess I won’t be wasting my time here because the first person that I talk to was SO RUDE. It is hard to imagine that the school/clinic uses someone like that which only drive the clients away🤦♀️Very disappointing 🙅♀️ I’d rather spent more money and time at a more FRIENDLY dental office. Why not teach manners to students first before anything else.
All I can say is WOW my student dentists Connor and Amy have gone above and beyond in every way to improve my oral hygiene. I didn’t brush or floss before I came here and they convinced me to take my care into my own hands. Connor has the hands of an angel. 10/10 highly recommended.
Had a molar pulled that took over 3 hours and ended up with a crooked face for 1 1/2 yrs. My cap was so large it made a sore on my inner cheek and they wouldnt redo it. BTW, my student was excellent, Reggie Woo. He thought I needed a dental suregon but faculty advised against it.I waited 3 years to go back. Living on disability just doesnt allow me the comfort of good insurance.ROUND 2!! I had to be rushed to the ER for hemmoraging after 5 biopsies were taken. Inner cheek, multiple sites on the ROOF of the mouth, throat & larnyx.Taking multiple biopsies from the roof of my mouth was all about money! I was a business manager and trained residents in coding for maximum reimbursement so I KNOW. And the surgeon was asked by the student if it needed done. She was told YES..under the coding theyd be paid. Hmmmm...but I trusted the surgeon. Then it started bothering me how far this student was up the area the surgeon. First name basis? Then would correct herself. Surgery was done and the surgeon told the student to apply HEAVY PRESSURE to the roof of my mouth and she left the room. After a bit my student, Kelsey Dovorany said she was tired and had her protoge student do it...with a feather touch. Still no faculty or surgeon in the room. I motioned to press harder but she never had done this before by her action and the look on her face. Then the surgeon came back in and questioned the student..KELSEY about applying pressure, took a look and cleared me to go.Im about 20-30 mins from the clinic. When I pulled into my driveway I felt a HUGE BUBBLE form on the roof of my mouth, walked in my front door and BOOOOM! Blood flew from my mouth all over my elderly, deaf & blind dog, my new carpet I saved 2 years for and the gushing followed me to the bathroom where it never stopped but got worse. 2 bath sheets thrown out dripping in blood and finally got a bucket and rushed to the ER. ONCE I got to the Adventist Bolingbrook ER they rushed me back and then it was lights out for me. They told my friend thats an RN in training to call my family members and that I might not make it.Finally I could hear but they thought it was lights out for me. I heard my son come in and have a mental breakdown. See..its just him & I. The little bit of family left is just far away enough that being in pain all the time I cant just jump in my car and visit😞 So my son was devastated! I knew I was going to wake up and I DID! I had the BEST OF THE BEST TEAM of Drs & Nurses! God Bless them. Finally a real tall Dr came in and said, Ava this is going to hurt. And I said, Have at it! He put all his body weight applying pressure to the roof of my mouth and BOOM💥 THE BLEEDING STOPPED! I was admitted and was like a star pupil, Drs & Nurses coming in telling me how strong I was and they didnt think Id make it.I dont want to name the surgeon. Only because I know shes good and in my heart believe she TRULY THOUGHT KELSEY would follow her instructions. She never said to take turns applying pressure if you get bored or tired. And think they are on a friendly basis and believed her student would do as told and not behave like she was the boss once the surgeon left the room.
This University FAILED numerous treatment plans that they did on me. I had to go back for 2 years to follow up of improper dental implants that still needs attention today. The latest failure cost me an infection that resulted in a MRSA/ like infection from fractured 2 front teeth. They refuse to show any integrity to help the very costly results of their lack of taking responsibility ..... On 3 separate occasions their own dental teachers told me to go somewhere else because the school was not doing me right....Since I was a patient from the very beginning and still having serious issues should tell all future patients that they do not care about the well being of their patients and that we are truly guinea pigs to them~. Please beware.
This pertains to the Dental Clinic: Would not recommend for patients with many medical conditions along with complicated dental problems. You risk the inexperience of a dental student and lack of proper communication with the supervising licensed dentists. There is at best a 40% chance of working with a good student. Also ran into a situation where a student resorted to lying. When you voice a complaint about a gum/tooth area and that complaint is not taken seriously and nothing is done until the tooth starts falling apart and is now unsalvageable, that is a serious infraction.
I called first, went to registration for a Medical form dropoff...there I was lucky enough to meet Registration Staffer Maria. She went out of her way to contact my doctors office not once but twice...and, even though it was busy was so pleasant and so professional! A real terrific impression MWU...and Miss Maria...thanks.
Although I was kicked out of the program because of excessive absences, ( I understand the policy it’s just things came up and I had to cancel ) I will say in all fairness they did a great job. I just wish they could’ve finished what they started that would been very helpful to me..
They over extended my root canal and they burned my cheek and stabbed me in the side of my lip on the outside of my mouth accidentally with the needle i dont and would never recommend going here they caused me unnecessary pain DO NOT GO HERE im not saying there all bad but on the chance u would get who did my teeth i wouldnt risk it i will be calling and complaining!!!
Dont ever waste your time with these people, today was my second time coming here first appointment they check my tooth a month ago and today I had 2 different appointmets today to from them to start working on my tooth 8:30 am they did all the x-rays, and they told me come back at 1:00 pm we going to start working on your tooth, so I get back at 1:00 pm and they are telling me that they cant start working on your toth today we gonna need to schedule a another appointment for them to start working on work on my tooth, so I was like is not what they told me I took the whole entire day off from work I said its not fair, so the student when and talked to his teacher and his teacher coming over telling me that we cannot have you here as a patient,so basically they told me I have to leave I waste 2 month coming here for nothing!
THIS PLACE IS GREAT VERY PROFESSIONAL AND THE STUDENT ARE LEARNING FROM THE BEST DENTIST AND EVERYONE WORK AS A TEAM CARING ABOUT THE PATIENT HEALTH AND AT KNOWLEDGING YOUR EVERY NEED MAKING SURE YOU UNDERSTAND YOUR CARE THAT IS PROVIDED TO YOU THE STUDENT ARE OUTSTANDING AND FOCUS ON THERE CAREER GOD BLESS THEM ALL ON THERE JOURNEY GIVING HEALTH PEOPLE SMILE IN THE WORLD IN JESUS CHRIST NAME AMEN :P.S I AM STIIL A PATIENT I WALK WITH FAITH I TRUST THE HANDS THATS WORKING IN MY MOUTH BECAUSE I PRAY ON EVERYTHING AND DR ANGIE KULA AND THE STUDY USAMAH KHAN I AM NOT WORRY GOD BLESS ME WITH BOTH HEALING HANDS INDEED IN THE NAME OF JESUS AMEN:)

2022-06-22My dental health has dramatically improved since becoming a patient with the Midwestern dental school. Nour and Michael, have gone above and beyond to help me resolve my tooth decay and periodontal disease. I am in a much better place than when I started two years ago. A big thank you to Diane too for teaching me how to properly floss my teeth! I have been doing it all wrong for too many years. Thank you to them and the entire team for helping me feel more confident in my smile and my more positive about my overall dental health.

2022-06-29Nour Issa was the student who did my dental work, it turned out that I needed dentures and I had to have 18 teeth pulled. I was at first terrified there would be pain and it would take several visits. However my fears were totally unfounded. Nora (that’s what she goes by) was excellent at calming my fears and anxiety. She actually began the extractions on my second visit with no pain, fear or anxiety. Much to my surprise she was done in two visits. Now I am happily awaiting my new dentures and am more than satisfied with the service, procedures and “chair side” manner of everyone at Midwestern Dental including the supervising dentists, the reception staff and even the nice woman who took my payments. In short I would recommend Nora and the entire staff here to anyone who needs the best dental care at affordable prices. My only regret is that I cannot patronize Nora in the future because I no longer have actual teeth.

2022-01-29BEST dental experience I’ve EVER had!If I could rate this place with a 10 star I absolutely would.I am petrified of the dentist and I can not tell you how comfortable Ashley and Michael made me during my visit.I could not have asked for better people to be taken care of by.

2022-06-27As someone who is self employed, I opted to not have dental insurance. When I lost a crown a friend recommended that I check out Midwestern University Multispecialty Clinics Dental School. Im so glad I did. For the past year I have had two amazing students, Michael Fakhoun and Nour Issa, as my dentists. They are amazing. While Michael has graduated, Im thrilled to have Nour as my dental student during her fourth year. She explains everything in wonderful detail, is gentle while working on my mouth and when giving me Novocain shots (Im a wimp when it comes to those) and is an all around wonderful dentist. I have had a lot of work that needed to be done and they have been amazing. So glad that I followed my friends suggestion and very lucky to have the students that I have. I always say, I have the best student team there. And I mean it. Check them out if you need a dentist. They are wonderful.

2022-06-18I drove over a hour to get there. Thinking they will do something with my toothache. I was about 15 mins late which I called to let them know. My “student Dentist N Issa was kind of disengage and lil rude she wasn’t interested in getting any thing done. I got told they don’t have time to for a fill in but they have time for multiple extra cost about 78$ which I was never aware off until they i was in the chair. Moral of the story being poor/cheap for quality service is impossible now a days

2022-07-18As a dental patient, so far I have undergone an intake appointment and an exam with radiographs. I have primarily been seen by Nour I. as well as Sean (Im not sure I spelled his name correctly) and I have received excellent care. They are both very nice, personable, and considerate. This clinic is a very patient-friendly and well-updated facility. They have used my preferred name, have been very kind, and have gone slowly to ensure I am comfortable and informed every step of the way. You can tell everyone here really cares about patient comfort and wellbeing. Combined with the pricing, its just unbeatable. I wish I had started coming here years ago.

2022-04-20MEDICAL MALPRACTICE! At first I was excited until my student dentist administered anesthesia and was about to perform an endodontic root canal on a dental bridge. He had trouble putting the dental dam on a back molar, which was an abutment to a dental bridge. So he asked his dental instructor for assistance. Thats when the dental instructor told me, the procedure was out of scope and the dental student is NOT qualified to perform the procedure! The dental instructor stated he did not know the student was performing the procedure and told me to allow the anesthesia to wear off!!! Also, the dental instructor LIED and stated the tooth is a wisdom tooth. When I told him my wisdom teeth were already extracted years ago, he told me my dentist must have extracted my back molar to allow the wisdom teeth to grow in!!!! Yes you read that correctly! He also gave me a racist literacy test by asking me did I know anything about the Civil War! I spoke to the manager of patient services, along with her fellow colleague, who happens to be a dentist. They both went along with the dental instructor lies by agreeing that the tooth was a wisdom tooth. Anything to avoid accountability and negligence. This means the dental students falsified information on my medical chart. Also, the manger of patient services told me, it would be hard for any endodontist to perform the root canal on the tooth. But, SURPRISE, SURPRISE, I called an emergency endodontist, who saved the tooth and was done in 15 minutes.

2021-11-09I received excellent care from Donna, Melody and Pam. Donna filled 3 teeth and I am ecstatic over my results. My teeth look wonderful. She took her time to get it perfect. Pam is a terrific hygienist. I received a great cleaning from her. Dr. Patel cares so much about the patients, the work being done by the students and the quality of care he shows to everyone. He must be a great instructor because he doesnt just give them answers, he asks probing questions that lead the students to the correct conclusion. He is very attentive and a doctor who practices medicine for all the right reasons. He cares and shows compassion. Dr. Patel also knows how to make people at ease and even laugh. Since dentistry can bring anxiety, his attitude and demeanor are welcoming and appreciated.

2021-07-03For my sons First appointment paid $50.00. I was told they would x-ray, examine and present us with a plan regarding dental work and cost. For thesecond appointment they took x-rays and snapped pictures and asked for $119.00. They informed us the work was to extensive for them. My son would be better off going some place else. That was not the initial plan. What a waste of money I do not have and time. 4hours for the second appointment.
