Today was one of the most unprofessional and terrible spa experiences I’ve ever had!!!! I was meeting my friend at Spa Envy for her birthday. I was assigned to a male therapist. I’ve had professional spa treatment before so I know what to expect. The male therapist today at Spa Envy was horrible! He appeared tired and frustrated. Throughout the first ten or Twenty minutes of the massage he was using only one hand and not applying a lot of pressure. He didn’t ask me questions that therapist are suppose to ask to ensure you are enjoying your massage. I requested the deep tissue massage by the way.....Also, when I suggested my preference of style, he got agitated with me and was rude to me in how he spoke to me and treated me. Needless to say I asked him to stop, and to see the manager. The manager was not equipped to handle the situation and did a very poor job mediating the situation. To my surprise the therapist refused to service my friend who had an appointment after me with him . She had not arrived there yet and was in route. The manager told me to call my friend and tell her that the therapist refuses to service her because of our interaction. I told the manager that my situation had nothing to do with her and that it’s her birthday and she wants to still get her massage. Not only did my friend get refused services but they made no accommodations outside of not charging our credit cards for the services. We both left with no massages, no accommodations for our travel and complete waste of time. It was my friends birthday and she and I was treating ourselves to some relaxation. Only to be treated rudely and unprofessionally and sent away unsatisfied. That was my first experience visiting Spa Envy today and it will definitely be my last. I hope no one has to experience the way me and my friend were treated today. If they offered a complementary massage, I would tell them NO Thanks! I will take my money where I’m treated well and given good customer service.
This Massage Envy needs to be upfront with their customers that their staff will not perform services for anyone who works in healthcare.I wasted time scheduling (then rescheduling at their request with less than 24 hours notice) and showing up for my appointment only to be told that the massage therapist is not comfortable treating me after I was honest about working in healthcare.This could have all been avoided if they would have contacted me prior to my appointment. I would have been disappointed, but not angry.
I had a really nice experience here. Everyone is very professional and courteous. The room is nice and clean, but the only thing I didnt like was the headrest was not very sturdy, so my massage was not as enjoyable as it shouldve been. If they fix the headrest on their tables, theyll get 5 stars from me next month.
Nice place to visit for skin care, but avoid the massages unless you enjoy overpaying for a mediocre experience. Today, I met with Alan for a 90 minute massage. I requested extra time on my face and head yet he ignored both areas. Additionally, during the entire 90 minute session he never once asked me about the pressure. Indeed, he never uttered a single word during the entire 90 minutes. Instead, I politely asked him to reduce the pressure. To be fair his technique was good, but the complete lack of communication made the entire experience disappointing.I left feeling like he reluctantly did me a favor instead of a paying customer.
When I originally signed up for the membership I was specifically told that my membership would automatically cancel if I did not renew it at the new year. When my membership didn’t auto cancel at the new year I called and was informed that the membership does not auto cancel ever. I’m very disappointed and feel I was misled by the staff when I signed up. When I tried to cancel over the phone the girl informed me the only way to cancel is to come into the location (sounds awful convenient for the company, but not so much for the paying customer). When I tried to simply express that this was a bad policy, the girl was quick to point out (in a passive-aggressive manor) “well it’s our policy and you signed it”. As that may be true, she could use a little customer service training. Now, about the massages I’ve received there... it’s a hit or miss, one was so light I hardly felt it and another one was the most painful massage I’ve ever had. I asked for therapist to not press as hard, which helped for a few minutes, but then she went right back. I was sore for days after. I would not recommend this massage envy and will never go back to this location or any others!
My first experience at this location, unfortunately, will be my last. my therapist, Venisha, was excellent throughout my entire session. I addressed the problem that I had with the General manager. my question to her: the ladies at the front desk were very loud and outburst of laughter came all in the atmosphere of my relaxation, this behavior went on for awhile. her comment to me: oh its always loud up here. wrong answer: she should have apologized for the noise and maintain her front area to be set an atmosphere for the clients. I was trying to tune out the noise from the workers and enjoy my massage. I know that I wont go to any other Massage Envy for this matter. they all be alike so I will look into another facility near home. I was so stressed at that time, it was really hard trying to tune them out and enjoy my massage. Venisha was excellent, she would lose more clients like myself if ME dont do something about the atmosphere for relaxation, they act like they were outside at a ballpark. I knew when the GM answered me in the manner that she did, I wasnt come back to that location. My friend and daughter were given a gift card to ME, I told them of my experience, I didnt recommend that they go to that location. Ive been to so many spas and the atmosphere is always a quiet tone. My room was not near the lobby door but I sure would like to know what the clients who were in the other rooms were thinking. I wonder did they address the noise or left it alone.
We attempted to get an appointment for our mother in Oak Lawn and because she has some health issues they said she may get there and they might turn her away. Although I told her the doctor cleared her or she wouldn’t be coming there, she said she would need a doctors note. I’ve never heard of this before. Her issues are spinal And drop foot but is able to walk, which is what the reason is for her going there and also IBS With a distended belly. So just to be aware they may turn you away if you have these issues.
Very disappointed! The facility and front desk service was really nice. However, the masseuse was inexperienced and rude. She spent less than a minute on the area I asked her to focus on, spent the majority of the time in the same spot with the same technique, and when I asked her to do my neck she said she would get to it later and never did. Plus she stopped abruptly and when I looked over the clock still had 2 minutes left. Overall the facility is ok depending on what therapist you have. However, I had a membership for about 8 to 10 months and would not be able to go every month so they had accumulated. I was not aware that the you would completely lose the massages (And therefore money) if I did not get my massages in within 60 days. I understand it was in the agreement I signed but it would have been good for someone at the desk to relate this to me as I didnt think it was necessary to read all the fine print past the fact that money would no longer be taken from my account. Pretty disappointed in this misunderstanding that was at my expense.
Had a wonderful massage here by 2 seperate therapists. The building is beautiful and the people were genuinely nice. Yes it is a 50 minute hands on session but that is on their sign, website, and they remind you that before the session. It was an amazing experience and I would recommend the place to all of my friends and family!
I am a newer member and have received a few massages. But today I had the most wonderful 90 minute facial. It was my first and everything was explained as it was done. I have not been that relaxed in ages. I almost think it was better than a massage, but not quite. I can’t wait to have another.
All I can say is Jenica! She is very knowledgeable and gives a really good workout in the areas where you need it the most! Also, she offers helpful suggestions as to what to do between sessions. This is not to knock any of the other massage therapists that work at the Oak Lawn center. I am sure they are good. But all I can say is Jenica!
Came in for what they call a dual service.... Started with wonderful massage and ended with an excellent facial. LOVE the Murad products they use for the facials! The staff was very accommodating and the prices are great. I joined their monthly program so Ill definitely be back! :)
Ive tried three different Massage Envy locations, Oak Lawn, La Grange and Orland Park. Oak Lawn is my second favorite one after La Grange. The rooms at Oak Lawn arent as well sound-insulated as La Grange, and I cant get quite the music volume adjusted, since one notch is too quiet, but the next one is too loud. The front desk does a decent job. My partner and I are lucky enough to have both found therapists here that work extremely well for us. Thats the key at a massage business of this type, with many therapists - finding one or two that work well for you, and this location fulfills that.
This was the Best massage Ever! I had a deep tissue massage and trust me she hit each and every point! I felt really great when I left and will definitely be making my way back on a regular basis. And my masus was incredible! Ask for Hailey she is the Bomb! Will get you body feeling Right!
Very disappointed with the 111th street location. I signed up for monthly massage package, within that 3 monrhs, i had 4 cancellations from massage therapist after I set my schedule for them. I called to reschedule 1 day because I couldnt leave work and they charged me for a session.i tried to plea my case to the girl that answered the phone but she was very nasty about it. The massage rooms are always cold and the carpet is extremely nasty, but still they charge u $65 for massage. Not only that they always short you 10 minutes of the hour u supposed to get. Smh. I should have listened to others that I talk too that had bad experiences.
I originally went there for a massage and got a good one then they asked me if I wanted to join there club which you get a discount so every month you build one up. Every time I wanted to make a appointment did not have availability or when I did get one they would say the therapist did not come in. So I called and make a appointment 1 month in advance 8am I walk in whats your name oh we tryed calling you the therapist called off would you like to make a new appointment no you can cancel my membership right now I took off work just for this appointment.They did not call and they have horrible customer service. I will never go back there again big joke!!!!
Very disappointed with this location. I made an appointment over a month ago to accommodate two people and they called a week before to reschedule. My entire day was planned around this appointment and now I am forced to rearrange my entire day. They have me some BS story about their paying members take precedence. I have been a member long before this location opened. I am totally sickened by this and will not continue my membership after this year. The flakiness of their therapist has caused them to lose two long standing members.
I had a bad experience today! My therapist (Kara) was wearing gloves the whole time which made it so uncomfortable! I was supposed to get a 60min massage, but the therapist stoped at 45min even though I arraived early to my appoitment. I walked out not feeling relaxed not feeling anything!
Sorry 😐 I didn’t enjoy my service at all it was 30min from the time I was seated in the back room and told a therapist would be right with me and the time I actually was taken back to a room and that was only after I inquired. Therapist was very rough kept bumping the top of my head my neck jerked atleast 5x. Also she never once asked how I was doing. Room was very cold I mentioned this to my therapist and her only response was that the bed was heated as high as it could go. I really needed to relieve some tension but unfortunately was very uncomfortable the entire time. Maybe it was just a fluke but I couldn’t imagine I would return.
The place was nice but the receptionist obviously have no idea what there doing. Upon entering i was buying a gift card for my mother, and as I handed the woman a 50$ she took it and didnt even put it in the air to check she just put a maker through it. Handed me it back and told me it was fake!! In shock I took it to the bank where they informed me it in fact was NOT fake! I am just frustrated at the fact that people are working there who have really dont know what they are doing!!
This is probably the worst Massage Envy in Illinois! They have the worst customer service! Stephanie the manager leads the horrible service that they have. I called to transfer over some unused credits and it turned into a horrible experience. I ended up calling corporate and they fixed teh issue right away.
The worst experience ever I didn’t even make it to this place.I had 1 o’clock appointment for me & my mom today on Mother’s Day they called me told me can I reschedule because the therapist called off.I asked can someone else take us instead the lady told me no I was so upset this is unacceptable and unprofessional I don’t recommend anyone to go here... I looked online everything was booked.So I found a Spa called Sunkiss Spa me & mom went there & we will be going back,we absolutely got the best treatment ever I highly recommend them.
From the front desk too the cold massage room this place sucks!!!!! I voiced a complaint with the corporate office on 5.13.18 (mothers day) and was referred back to the oak lawn facility 😕😕😕where I left a voice mail for the manager and Im still waiting for the return the call?
First time I book and appointment I was excited to go then I got a call about my therapist being on jury duty and wasn’t going to be there so then I was okay so that was frustrating because I couldn’t get an appointment for that day with a different therapist then I had to get schedule for next day in the afternoon I received Great massage I only wish I would had gotten the full hour the massage therapist took me a few minutes late into the room even after I was 15 minutes early then when I saw the time she was over it was before the full hour she didn’t start working on my back till about 2:40 and finish at 3:25 only took me two minutes to change I don’t take 10 minutes to get ready massage was great deep tissue but I wish she would had added more pressure not as deep I though she did I still left the place with knot still there will be going back with a different therapist
Horrible. I am trying to get in touch with the manager of this establishment regarding a rude employee who contacted me regarding scheduling a message. The employee was extremely rude. I called back to talk to a manager on 831 and I was told their wasnt one there today. I also asked to speak with the owner and I was the owners werent in today. All I wanted was to schedule a soa day with some friends to enjoy my birthday. This was an awful experience to say the say least. The employee who contacted me needs some serious customer service skills!
So i was given a gift card from my husband to have a relaxation massage from message envy...i was soo excited due to it being my first time ever to get a massage...front staff was great and polite.i was asked what type of massage i want ...deep medium or light, i said light...i was given the therapist veronica when she came she shook my hand.took me to room and ask what brings me here ..sooo i said a body massage..she said what kind i said a light message. And she said ok..i got ready n when she came in she started off with my back ..I KNEW THE MINUTE SHE PUT HER HAND ON ME I WAS GONNA HURT..she was so ruff and kept constantly stopping n just leaving her hand in one spot..or rubbing the same spot to burn a hole in my skin..i was so uncomfortable cuz i couldnt see what the heck she was doing..she wuld move it just a lil n stop again as if she was looking at somethin..the whole body massage hurted my skin she did in my opinion a deep tissue massage,TWICE i told her IF SHE CAN DO IT SOFTER. ..and she said she would and admitted she had ruff heavy hands ...but she didnt.i came out having a slight headache hurting from my neck and shoulders....as i write this my neck and head are throbbing..not happy at all...

2022-02-23First 3 visits where the best and I actually was very happy with their services. However the last time I was there for my 90 minute massage I have to say I was obligated to cancel my subscription and never go back again. My therapist was wonderful but the smell of cigarette almost made me vomit. I have never experienced this before. I hope no one has to go through a massage with a horrible smell of cigarettes. This was the worse experience. I sprayed Fabreeze while my therapist let me change and the smell of old cigarettes never went away. Dear massage Envy. I sent you guys a review and you guys never reached out either. I hope this review helps the facility to keep it more clean and smelling better for your future customers.

2022-04-20I really enjoyed my time here. I havent been since the pandemic but Im feeling comfortable about returning now. Im not sure of my previous therapist is still there as he was knowledgeable of my sciatica/arthritis issues but of not, I am confident that this staff is able to provide the treatment necessary to help restore my health & wellness. Always clean & everyone is polite. Looking forward to coming back.

2021-12-05Paris is the best. She is the reason why I signed up for a membership. I’ve gone to massage envy quite a few times but never cared to sign up until today having a massage with Paris. I walked in with the worst amount of pain and stiffness in my back and neck and after trying so many over-the-counter products to relieve StiffNess nothing helped. After a 60 minute massage she was able to work out any pain or stiffness that I walked in with. I will only ever go to her. The deep tissue that I got was a little bit painful but such a necessary pain that eliminated all of my discomfort. Hands-down the best massage I’ve ever had

2021-04-28I’ve only visited this location once for me and my aunt to enjoy a day of relaxation. The therapist was very inexperienced and I felt I was tickled instead of having an actual massage and left feeling worse than I came. Now I decided to give them a second chance for my aunt’s birthday. I booked for today two weeks ago to only find out they canceled her appointment this morning due to the therapist not working that day. I asked if there was any other availability or anything that could be done and basically nothing could be done expect to reschedule for the following week. Now that would have been fine if she was not going on vacation next week. So I asked for any accommodations that could be made due to this being their fault and she told me no. I asked for management and conveniently the manager had stepped away. I would NOT recommend due to the lack of even empathy that your facility was the reason for any inconvenience

2022-02-18Candice...I see the response is NOW to work on a resolution,when a resolution should have been worked out then for not one but 2 unsatisfied customers...and they probably only doing that because you gave a bad review....otherwise it would probably be business as usual...so where is the nasty therapist and manager are they still there?...Im asking cause I have a gift card for services and now I dont know if I even wannan bother to use it...

2020-11-12I love the Oak Lawn Massage Envy. I have been to a few other locations and this one is the best! The front desk is professional and courteous. I have had both facials and massages at this location and they were awesome. Everyone works hard to make sure you have a great experience. They are very clean and even during this crazy COVID time, I feel very safe going there.

2021-02-21Great customer service, I see Jane for my facials and Alan for my massages.Theyre talented and really care about your needs. I was convinced after one visit , and bought the membership for monthly facial treatments . The price is amazing for what you get , so I highly suggest getting the package if you live in the area .I make sure to bring cash for my gratuity, no less than 30% if youre only paying 65.00 for a facial. Ive paid on average 100-125.00 for facials and 150.00 for massage in the past and this is a much better service.The place is clean and very nice. I highly recommend this location.

2019-06-12This place is amazing ! I had a facial with Jane and Haley and they were awesome. I would recommend this pace to anyone looking to relax and/or remove some body pain. The front desk were super friendly and engaging. I signed up for the wellness membership today because of the deal they have going for the enrollment fee. The manger, Brittany, was also super helpful with situating a issue with my gift card.
