Lovin Oven Cakery in other cities:
My mom got me there red velvet cake for my 38th birthday because the dont carry the strawberry layered cake and the cream cheese to cake ratio is TERRIBLE all you taste is cream cheese there is so much on there its inedible without taking some at least 2 layers off its basically just all cream cheese frosting. Never again barely anyone even ate theres kinda a bummer on your bday to be so disappointed not worth the 40+ price tag
This bakery is Way Overrated. They change their recipes & dont let you know. Example: the banana cream pie used to have a good thick crust until they changed it to some sort of cookie crust? Its nasty. They are Always out of cheese sticks when we go- if something is such a hot seller, WHY are they not making more? A lot of their refrigerated items are pre-made & frozen before going on the shelf. 2 stars Only because the girls at the counter are always very nice otherwise itd be 1.
We booked Lovin Oven for our wedding cake after our wedding was postponed due to COVID (every vendor we had booked for June but the DJ was unavailable for our new date).I cannot say how thankful I was to find Lovin Oven and work with them for our wedding cake. They were professional and responsive all the way through, and matched the cake EXACTLY with the picture I had sent (it was a cake I had found on their website that I really loved). We ended up ordering a 4-tier cake, each with a different type of cake and filling. It was delivered on time the day of the wedding and everyone said it was to die for!
Its so nice to be able to buy fresh sweetrolls to feed my electricians upgrading my home the last three days. Thank you Lovin Oven! Catlynn is a very good baker representative. I especially thought her newheirloom engagement ring is stunning, and I complimented her for it! It IS going to be an heirloom for many to enjoy in the years she builds behind it.....😇Happy Easter 2022!
I ordered a cake a month prior to when I needed it and spent over 30 minutes with the person taking my order to make sure we were on the same page of what could be done. I even included a picture to represent what I wanted. When I went to pick up my cake I was disappointed to see the only part of the cake that met one of my requests was the shape. When I spoke to one of the managers, he agreed that the cake looked nothing like the picture. He offered my cake to get fixed and spoke with the owner but because it was a Sunday, there were no decorators to fix it. He then offered to refund me about 13% of my payment. I asked if he believed my cake looks like something worth what I paid for it and he agreed that it didn’t. I asked to speak with someone higher up and was given another manager and the owner’s name. I spoke with the manager and expressed my frustrations to which she responded “for the record, the cake did come out beautiful”, “ there are hr problems in hiring like most places and the person who took the order has only been there for 4 months” “if you don’t tell your guests that it’s not what you wanted, they’ll never know”. 1. I didn’t call my cake ugly, it just was not what I wanted. 2. Although my guests would not have to know, I knew what I wanted at the party and I paid for it knowing it wouldn’t come out exactly like the picture but very similar. The manager I spoke to then offered to refund an additional $8 (because only the design was incorrect, not the shape or size of the actual cake) or a $40 gift card to give them another chance. My family and I have been using Lovin Oven for over 17 years for our occasions and more recently our cakes have not come out as expected. With the response I got of basically don’t tell your guests, I now understand why. The only positive part of my experience was that the shape, size, and type of cake (the 87% of my payment) was correct, Also because the first manager I encountered at the Round Lake location did not beat around the bush with ridiculous response and agreed that at the end of the day my order was wrong/not worth what I paid for and did everything he could to help.
My husband and I hired Lovin Oven to cater doughnuts for our wedding. We ordered 300 doughnuts- 5 flavors and rented a cupcake stand for display. A few comments on our experience:1) When we met with the wedding department for our tasting they didnt have anything for us to actually taste, which made it hard to decide what to buy. They didnt even have pictures of the doughnuts.2) Doughnuts were appropriately priced/ affordable3) They informed us that they would not be willing to set up the doughnut tower, but luckily our venue was able to do it. I dont know who would have done it otherwise- seems strange that lovin oven wouldnt do it even if we paid them.4) Delivery of the doughnuts was super duper late... like as the actual reception was starting, which meant that our venue had to hurriedly put the tower together at the last second5) Lovin Oven got the order wrong- initially we only got 3 out of the 5 flavors. Thankfully they were able to make and deliver one of the flavors that we were missing when the we called to explain.6) Doughnuts themselves were pretty good. Id say the vanilla doughnuts were a little too sweet for me. Glazed Chocolate cake was fantastic and the apple fritters were amazing as well (no leftovers of those).Overall, we are happy we picked Lovin Oven, but our experience could have been a little better.
I order chicken dumpling soup,. Not one dumpling in the entire bowl of soup half of a baby carrot and the chicken you needed a microscope to see it seriously it was horrible it was just chicken broth and it was expensive and it was supposed to be my lunch. I called and asked if I had gotten the right soup because there was nothing in there she said yeah she noticed she had soup and she didnt get a dumpling either she said if you didnt already eat it you can bring it back and well give you a refund. Now why would I drive all the way back to Antioch to get a refund on something that should have never been served to me in the the first place! I spent $40 there Im sorry I did it wont happen again.
Fairly good bakery and good selection. As hard as it is to find a good bakery these days, as they seem to be far and wide, this is a boon to the Antioch and Round Lake communities. Having said that I find Jarosch Bakery in Elk Grove bit better [mostly the custard] and more like a bakery in the small town I grew up in.
Lovin Oven has always been a family favorite but for now on, theyll be more than that after the amazing cake and sweets that they provided for our wedding. During the height of the pandemic, they provided us with an awesome take-home cake tasting experience. They also went as far as Wheaton (from Antioch) to deliver our cake and desserts. Our guests are still talking about it days after.
Most delicious wedding cake! Our wedding cake was prepared by Lovin Oven. We selected the lemon with lemon berry mousse and it was a hit with everyone.Marlo did a great job helping us coordinate the style, flavors of the cake for our big day. We were very pleased and want more! LOL.
Ive enjoyed Lovin Ovens baked goods for years. Their regular bakery items taste as great as they look, and their custom work is fantastic too. People still rave about a layer cake they made for a family birthday party a year ago; beautiful and delicious. But have you tried what comes out of their cafe? WOW!! Chef Tony has some regular menu items that are so good I cant wait to sample them all. But his specials are AMAZING. Best Asian pot stickers ever (really). A pot roast sandwich that smells, looks, and tastes as good as the best roast you can remember. I hear his breakfast specials are incredible too... but I dont know yet because theyre sold out before I get there. That should tell you everything you need to know.Yes, you have to drive to the Antioch location to enjoy the cafe but you wont be disappointed. You can order in advance too, which is a great way to bring home a meal that will make your tummy happy. And dont forget a dessert from the bakery! Yum. See you there!
I was referred by a co worker at the DAs Office in Milwaukee and I met with Jackie. She answered all of my emails in a timely manner and I went to my cake tasting on Saturday 11/13/2021 with my sister. We arrived and Jackie was very polite and resourceful but when it came to the actual cake tasting it was very hard and so i was told it was because it had been in the freezer. No, it was stale and hard. It wasnt fresh at all! I couldnt believe I drove 40 minutes to have one of the most disappointing experiences in my life! I wouldnt recommend Lovin Oven to anyone planning a wedding or any event for that matter!Sent on 11/18/2021
I am so mad. So I went there yesterday to buy an off the shelf cake they had and a girl came to help me. I asked her for a vanilla butter cream cake and she showed me one, it was beautiful. So I got it and had her write happy birthday on it, she did an okay job, we were just going to eat it anyways. When we went to cut the cake for my dad, it was chocolate. I had also bought 3 of the chocolate cake slices there since I was suppose to get a vanilla cake, that way we could have a small bit of chocolate for those who wanted it. Im just so mad because I asked the girl a few different times if the cake was vanilla. She just kept saying yes. This is like every other experience Ive had there. I gave 2 stars because the girl was at least nice.
We love supporting local businesses and this one is no exception. The only problem you will have is choosing from the many tasty choices this bakery has to offer. You can also grab breakfast and lunch at this location. Show this place some local love and give it a try.
This little shop has some of the best treats! I always find myself coming back for their classic smiley face and butter cookies. You can tell the staff cares about their customers because theyre always so quick to make sure youre taken care of. I will definitely keep coming back!
I love the variety of desserts and cakes, and even their lunch menu is amazing! On top of that, I love how reasonable their prices are! You get top quality sweets that look and taste amazing for very very reasonable prices! I love this and the Round Lake Beach location and I absolutely recommend them both!
Great little gem for anything baked. Cupcakes are not only adorable but tasty as well. Staff is very patient while you decide what else you would like.I wish they would start offering croissants.Cafe has some nice options that can be picked up and they also do special requests within a few days.
Lovin Oven in Antioch is a great place to get quality bakery goods. Everything is always clean, presentable and fresh. I especially love their apple fritters and cream filled bismarks. They have such a wide variety of sweets and cakes. What I also like is that they have a cafe area where you can purchase freshly made sandwiches among other things. I usually like to buy a tiramisu and coffee, sit in the cafe area, and enjoy watching the world go by. They have adjusted their hours slightly in order to properly prep and sanitize the place for customers and employees health and safety. Best to show up a few minutes after opening time so that youre ahead of the rush.
The best Bakery Ive visited in years. I moved out of the city, were my choices were Rosens for sweets and Gonella for breads and buns. I was so afraid I wont have anything as good as those 2 places. Was I surprised, I ordered my sons 1st B-Day cake it was super moist and delicious. They even made him his own little cake in the shape of a ,#1. Now for over 30 years I go to Lovin Oven for everything.
Such amazing bakery. They have delicious cakes for any occasion, in every flavor profile, and even sell these delicious cakes by the slice if you want a personal treat any day of the week. Their homemade donuts on the weekend are amazing, and their quiche and take-and-bake items like deep dish french toast are a wonderful way to serve breakfast to your family or a large group and provide homemade food with ease. I highly recommend this bakery for many items and reasons. We live out of town and visit the bakery when we come up to the chain o lakes. I already plan on stopping there to bring a quiche home with me and make my breakfasts quick and delicious this week!
Went in to order a cake for my daughter’s birthday. Teagan was the friendliest associate EVER! She was so knowledgeable on all of the cake types/fillings/frostings/decorations for the cakes!! She walked me through the entire process (with extreme patience, my 7 year old had a few specifics) and had FUN helping me design the perfect cake! She was the exact person I needed to do this with. She was happy to be at work, and even happier to help me. Aside from that, I would have ordered one of everything in the case!! Super clean environment. This location is huge and gorgeous and all social distances and cleanliness were very apparent. Highly recommended!!! THANKS AGAIN, Teagan!!
By far the best bakery ever!!! Yesterday I enjoyed an amazing breakfast their Antioch location. What a cute cafe. The bakery is the biggest Ive ever seen. I brought 4 pieces of different cake home, each very, very delicious. There are so many choices, how can anyone just pick one? Each employee I encountered were so friendly, helpful and made the experience wonderful. Today I was able to order an amazing cake I need in just 2 days and I also experienced the same incredible service over the phone. Thanks Lovin Oven, Im lovin your bakery!!!
We had to make some major changes to our June 2020 wedding, and Lovin Oven was incredibly accommodating to our newly reimagined backyard celebration. We no longer needed the 4 tier cake we had planned, so the team put together a smaller version of what we had designed and it was perfect. The lemon cake tasted absolutely delicious and all of our guests loved it.Marlo was very easy to work with, and she was incredibly thoughtful and helpful through the process. Were looking forward to enjoying another cake at our formal reception next year.
You expect great baked goods from Lovin Oven, and indeed they are wonderful. But I didnt know about the variety of generously packed sandwiches and wraps. Even a PBJ for the little ones. And the staff is friendly, informative and very patient with indecisive first timers. Not that I was one of them. 🙄😁 Great place to catch up with friends over lunch coffee and goodies!
I was called to pick up my order in the morning and immediately went in to get the order. There was confusion with curb side and in store but I received the order and the cupcakes looked fine. Later in the day, I received a voicemail that was very short, rude, demanding telling me to come in and pick up my order and they’ve made multiple attempts to contact me and left several voicemails as they’re closing (this was the only voicemail I received). I called back to let them know I didn’t get multiple calls and went right in to pick up the order. The young girl said thanks for the feedback and hung up. I then called back and asked for a manager and she was absolutely awful!!! She told me the owner died and asked for grace and I said I totally understand and I’m sorry for the loss but I would appreciate if they can mark my order as picked up and refrain from continuing to call and leave a rude voicemail and noted they should keep better track of the order as it was a pricey order so should be noted as picked up. She said wow, and asked for my name. When I told her I don’t understand why she needs me name (because she was being so rude and brash) she said give me your name you’re never allowed to order from here again. I truly feel sorry for all affected by the loss of the owner but you’re still a business and when receiving feedback you shouldn’t treat a paying customer so rudely then tell them they’re never allowed to order from them again. Just awful customer service and cannot believe that is the manager of the Antioch location.
I ordered my wedding cake from here. It was a 4 tier cake that had Lemon cake with Raspberry buttercream filling and a Chocolate cake with Cannoli filling. We ordered that as a cake cutting for our guests, and for us to take home. We were charged extra for the Cannoli filling, to say we were highly disappointed at the lack of filling. I reached out to Marlo to ask about this. The only thing she said was it got absorbed into the cake. Mind you, we exchanged emails several times snd never got a resolution.. So I did my do diligence and took it to other bakers, who ALL said the same thing, it didnt get absorbed into the cake. 4 different bakers agreed, as well as several guests and family members! They simply dont care about doing right by their customers at all.On top of that, we ordered 125 of the 6 pies for our guests to either take home or eat there. We had plenty left over for extras to be taken home. Which because of COVID situation was a great choice. The pies were good, with the exception of the apple, the apples were rock hard and not good at all. A waste of 30 pies. For what we paid, it wasnt a very good experience and Marlo wasnt very helpful and thru blame on the owner. Shame on them both.Lost our business as well as several people we know.
The food was fantastic. The service was a little slow but they had their hands full with a business luncheon. The Antioch Chamber of Commerce had a few full tables. What shocked me the most about this first time visit was at no time was an employee watching the sales floor. The lady at one of the Commerce tables also noticed this as she put a bag of croutons in her bag. I was appalled. My daughter pointed out she could have paid for them earlier. My gut tells me not so. I should have stopped her. I feel awful I did not. Please have someone on your floor, servicing your tables and watching your inventory.
I brought my students with autism to Lovin Oven Cakery for a field trip in February. We had the best time exploring what bakers do. They gave us a full tour of behind the scenes. The staff welcomed us graciously. They calmly handled one of my students having a tough time in the back. The best part was decorating cookies in the party room. They even made sure each student got their own icing bag! Lovin Oven should be commended on a warm, inviting, and inclusive environment.
Yummy!!! Complete bakery offering that seems like they were created by a master pastry chef. Reasonable prices and delicious and fresh items. The mini eclair and the mini cream puff and coffee were very good. There are tables and chairs so you can enjoy your dessert right there.
The staff is absolutely wonderful and the young lady Gabrielle was so helpful and explaining all the beautiful looking treats and what was in them. Lovin Oven is my new favorite Bakery! I was so happy to see one of my childhood favorites Swedish flop cake and then they told me they make it in chocolate and strawberry oh my cant wait to have coffee in the morning
Sunday hours posted 8:00 to 1:00 on web, on the phone and on the door. My wife arrived at 8:30 on Dec 27 and you are closed with no indication as to why???? Why not update your posted hours so we dont drive 10 miles for nothing!!!!! Hard to rate the food when you cant get in, so rating is of the service.
I was absolutley B L O W N away by this bakery. The location is just freaking awesome. HUGE is the best word actually. Very impressive. Bright, airy, modern. So cool. Now let me preface this next part with the understanding that Im not a big fan of cake...or frosting for that matter. Your probably saying, well why the hell were you there? Ill get there in a second. The cupcakes here ARE TO DIE FOR! Ive never had a cupcake like that. Amazing. So back to my original reason for arrival, the butter cookies. LOVE these butter cookies as well. Just stop by, thank me later. Ill be back!
Most of the stuff looks incredible. Too bad the flavor doesnt follow, to be clear with the mini portion delites. Kinda disappointed. Fortunately a very good friend and owner of Bristol 45 Diner gave me a slice of your cheesecake. It was phenomenal. They did do our wedding cake 18 years ago and again it was nothing short of remarkable, so I have to give kudos for that.
We got our cake from Lovin Oven as part of our wedding package at Makray Memorial Golf Club on July 27, 2019. Having worked in the wedding & event industry for several years, I knew them well and was very excited to have them make the cake for our wedding. We went to their location in downtown Antioch, IL to do our tasting and pick out our design. They were exceptionally patient and helpful throughout that process and had lots of photos and design examples for us to choose from. Closer to the wedding day we had to make some small changes based on the number of RSVPs we had and they were very accommodating and made sure that we had exactly what we needed. Last, but not least, the cake looked terrific and tasted even better!
So now you guys kick people out for disabilities! Hope you are well aware of the ADA federal disability act law because I am reporting you for violating my American Rights. Ive been a customer since the day you opened and now I am completely done bringing any business to you. I noticed that you never respond on here unless it is someone praising you which means you do not care on making right with the ones you have wronged. You are not good people.
Bringing my kids into this store for the first time, I had flashbacks to when I first walked in as a child to their first location. Wide eyed and full of hope and excitement about what they’d get to bring home for dessert. We had hoped for paczki’s and ended up with prune the only flavor they had left, and a handful of assorted pastries, including free butter cookies from their app. Some of the pastries were still a touch frozen, which working in a bakery for many years I understand how that goes. There was also quite a bit of confusion with the “pull a number.” Half of the people grabbing a number, others just pushing their way to talk to the girls behind the counter. All in all it’s always a wonderful experience with delicious choices! We will be back again soon!
Imagine walking in and being greeted by heavenly aromas and visually appealing treats of all manner. That is exactly what happens when you visit Lovin Oven in downtown Antioch! You can pick from pastries to cakes to large individual specialty deserts to mini versions of those same deserts. There is also a wedding cake display that has the most amazing, unique cakes. You can get your treats to go or stay and enjoy with a beverage. Highly recommended to those who live in Antioch or are just passing through.
Forget your diet if you are going inside the shop! Everything is so delish, they catered an event I attended and I couldnt get over how wonderful everything was, over the top! Each little cake was so artfully created, they could have been used as decorations on the tables.
The best struesel!!! Im so happy they opened a shop so close to where I live. Ever since I discovered them, about fifteen years ago, theres no other place I get my birthday cakes!! For my 40th, I was so unsure of what I wanted and the staff was so helpful and patient. Making sure I didnt leave until I was completely satisfied.
We had an absolutely amazing time picking and designing our wedding cake. The choices were all great, the design styles fit almost any type of event you could think of, and the staff made everything very easy to pick out and plan. I would definitely recommend Lovin Oven Cakery.
Horrible wait we were there when it was not busy at all took 30 minutes to get our 2 sandwiches and they left it behind the counter sitting there didn’t say a name nothing we asked twice and the cook out of all things then gave this lady free cookies and she was walking in the back talking with him horrible hospitality and unprofessional
Disappointing experience. I ordered my sons birthday cake from here and I was so upset I practically left in tears. I ordered the cake a week and a half in advance and it wasnt done when I got there.I had to wait in line for 20 minutes just to pick the cake up. When I got to the counter, they hadnt put the inscription on it and asked what color I wanted it, I had originally chosen white because the cake was supposed to be half red, half blue. It was just white, so they said the white inscription wouldnt look good on the white frosting. I was running late, I had gone in a few days prior to pay off the cake so I could just pick it up and leave. I said I didnt have time because the wait had put me behind so I left with a cake with no inscription. They take a phone number, I dont understand why someone couldnt even call to ask. They then directed me to the register where I had to wait in line an additional 5 minutes for the cashier to tell me I was good to go because it was already paid for. 25 minutes of waiting just to pick up a cake.It seems dumb but Its upsetting when your drop $75 on a cake that youre not satisfied with. I didnt even get a cake server, had to cut it with a plastic knife.UPDATE: I talked to a manager there and the response I received was that the only thing they saw wrong with my cake was the inscription was missing, which they were trying to put on before I walked out the door, but if you didnt have time to wait... because it shouldnt take 25 minutes to pick up a cake that I ordered almost two weeks ago and the cake should have been done? Then proceeded to turn away and busy herself on the computer. In more words, said it was my fault, horrible customer service.
Ordered a 9” round carrot cake for my mother’s birthday and it was horrible. As soon as you cut into the cake it crumbled into a pile. Not a single piece could be picked up with a fork. The worst part of the entire thing was that the taste was worse than the crumbling. For the amount of money paid for this cake it should have been phenomenal! I called to complain but got nowhere because I didn’t keep the horrible cake for them to taste and look at?! It would’ve been nice if they warned you that their recipe is known to crumble like that since that is the excuse I kept hearing over and over AFTER I called to complain! I will never order from here again...horrible cake and not much better customer service!
Bes bakery in lake county. I would always suggest getting there earlier in the day. This location is by far my favorite, same variety of pastries, doughnuts and cakes but a large area for you to eat, even some outdoor seating. It is a very comfortable space. The canoli is out of this world.
I had been anticipating coming to this place since I seen them getting ready to open it.. I decided to come on MY BIRTHDAY and pick a bunch of goodies, I figured it would be GREAT and heard about thier HUGE selection! HOWEVER this place was HORRIBLE... They DO have a huge selection but everything I got tasted like gross.. just SUPER sugary...They have coffee cakes that they dont allow u to sample and u cant buy a small piece of so I wanted the cream cheese one and my daughter wanted the almond so we had to buy 2 huge slabs and they both were HORRIBLE... The staff was super unorganized and almost rude, it was apparent they wanted to close up soon. We bought SO MUCH and decided to sit outside and eat it. I decided to go back in and the lady decided to come lock the doors in my face.. I knocked and they ignored me.. RIGHT AFTER WE JUST WALKED OUT WITH A HUGE PURCHASE...1st and LAST time I will go here.. save your money and get pastrys from jewel or starbucks because it taste way better..

2022-02-12A WONDERFUL PLACE FOR FANTASTIC PASTRIES, CAKES AND BREAKFAST OR LUNCH!Traveled with a group of Seniors to decorate Valentine cakes and have lunch. The owner, Betty was kind and gracious in creating a fun and pleasant experience for us.The food was very good - sandwiches, mustard potato salad, pasta salad and festive, lovely butter cookies.Purchased a number of her bakery items - simply excellent! They need pictures on their site to show how wonderful it is there - a really special place!

2021-12-17Whatever kind and/or how big of a cake you may need for any special occasion, Lovin Oven Cakery is the place to be.They also specialize in many other baked goodies like donuts, cookies, eclairs, muffins, LOC does it all! This was actually my first time in this location a couple of wks ago, been to the RLB location several times even after moving from Round Lake to Beach to Beach Park, this cakery remains my favorite.Very spacious venue with a café that serves breakfast and I believe lunch as well. Prices seem reasonable overall and customer service is always top notch.

2022-03-17Panini I had was awesome and great bang for your buck! Also had an almond croissant pastry and some shortbread cookies that blow the doors off of the usual morning donuts/coffee cakes. Plus, always nice to support local businesses 👍 we will definitely be back.

2022-03-30Great selection of cakes, pies, and sweet rolls. Take home a small slice of cake, or the entire thing. Separate wedding cake area with display.Dine in and enjoy your cake there. Adequate parking, and large, clean washrooms. Service is excellent.Breads and cookies are also offered, but not to the same standards as their other items.

2022-06-14Recently had my little sisters birthday here and it was perfect! Went back a few weeks later to get my mom a birthday cake and got a delicious Black Forest cake for only $34! The young short blonde haired employee that helped us was wonderful & the handwriting on the cake looked great!

2021-08-02I paid almost $10 and waited 25 minutes. A guy that clearly didnt want to be there then dropped a Styrofoam container in front of me and walked away. It had a panini smaller than a gas-station sandwich that was burnt black on the bottom and a handful of chips inside. It was supposed to be smoked turkey but it tasted overly sweet due to whatever mayo they use and the bizarre choice to put apple slices on it.Ill give 3 stars because their baked goods are fantastic, but I will never order anything from the deli menu here again.

2022-04-30Lovin Oven is just a treasure. They make beautiful custom cakes that taste great! Their breakfast pasteries are just as good. Do not miss the whipped butter, whatever you do.
