We went because they were having a sale. They actually had a sizable amount of inventory but we didn’t find anything that we needed.The staff seemed helpful but there didn’t seem to be many of them.
Trying on Mens outterwear, vests & Womens Flannel Shirts. I found these mens slip-on indoor/outdoor slippers that were waterproof too! In their mail order catalog. Not in this store, Grrr! Ill have to order them instead.
Been buying from LL Bean for years. Loved their products and service. They make good stuff and stand behind their products. Last year before Covid shutdown we bought our daughter a L.L.Bean $300 down commuter coat. She used it for 4 months until school closed down due to the pandemic. During that time the coat started shedding down from every seam at an alarming rate. Plus it developed a tear. I contacted their telephone customer service and they were very helpful and suggested we take the coat into a retail outlet rather than shipping it back to their service center since we lived close enough to one. We decided to take it down to the Skokie store at Old Orchard and start off the holiday season.What a mistake! Diane, the person that waited on us pointed out we were past the year date, which was absolutely true but with Covid and the shutdown the last thing we were worried about was getting this coat retuned. She initially refused, then condescendingly lectured us on how down worked. I know how down words. I pointed out that we have bought several other down products from LL Bean (which all three of us were wearing) didn’t have that issue. She then, in all of her generosity changed her mind but kept telling us she’d do it THIS time but for us to not expect it again. Once the transaction was done she said nothing to us and just walked away from the register. Not a thank you or a were all done or some acknowledgement that the transaction was over. She just walked away.I felt like we were criminals. Afterwards, I asked to speak with a manager that happened to be the young girl (Anna) working the register next to Diane who was in an earshot but said nothing throughout the entire exchange with Diane. She listened to my story but her silence to me was a sign that she was okay with Dianes behavior. While in the end they did right for us regarding the product, I would have rather been told they couldnt give us a store credit and been treated decently. It wasnt what they didnt do for us, it was about how we were treated.Weve bought hundreds if not thousands of dollars of product from L.L. Bean and this location. I’m disappointed with the Skokie L.L. Bean store, not something I am used to saying about L.L. Bean. We still like L.L. Bean and their products but am now a bit more hesitant to buy from them. I hope that the management at the Skokie store does something to improve their customer service. However, for the near future we’ll be avoiding the Skokie location for sure and stay up in Wisconsin if we shop at any L.L. Bean retail location. Not only did we have a bad experience but it put a bad start to the holiday season for us. 😕
Marsha was so kind and helpful in getting a phone order placed for me! I was unable to buy the sweatpants on line but she assured me they’d be shipped out to me free of charge! Her wonderful attitude & professional demeanor was a boost to my day!!
Love LL Bean clothing, it lasts so long.
They have quality flannel shirts and socks which have kept me warm through a number of winters.I got a great discount on some running shoes by shopping during one of their sales. I think that I saved about $60 from their normal retail price on those shoes which are very comfortable. A few people even complimented me on their appearance to my surprise.

One of my favorite places to shop for clothes - whether its for me or for gifts for family. Unlike most places that thrive on online (old-school catalog) shopping, this LL Bean always has a great selection of items in-store.
Quality products and they stand behind them. I had a fleece with a stuck zipper. I only wanted the zipper 3work. They replaced the garment.
Bought a pair of boots here years ago. The rubber near the stitching on the top broke due to a manufacturers defect. The customer service at this store would not process a manufacturer’s defect without a receipt, which goes against the LL Bean policy. If LL Bean won’t stand by their product, then why buy it?
Awesome store. Amazing staff. Helped me find sizes and even made tickets for me to order at the register. Signature line is always the best stuff. Check out was easy as I returned something, used coupons, then ordered for delivery. Already order in the store, its free delivery vs. online from home.
I went shopping for the first time at an LL Bean Store. A friend of mine recommended their products because of the quality & durability. I approached a salesperson to ask about coats for tall men. He was not very friendly as I greeted him with a hello & he didn’t respond back or smiled. The cashier was really nice & friendly.

I called this store after finding out they are the only store left with a specific boot in stock. Due to me being in VA, they are an hour behind. I ended up calling before the store opened and still someone answered. 40 minutes before opening the lady tried to help but she was in another section of the store and took my number and said she will call back. People never ever call back when you are out in these situations, so I planned on calling back later in the day. About an hour later I get a call from the store and the lady said they had them and she was going to transfer me to someone so I can have them shipped from the store. I guess something wasnt working with the phones but I was on hold for a couple of minutes and while on hold I got a call from the store again from the person over shipping orders. She didnt see that I was on hold but had my number and called me anyways to get my boots paid for and shipped. I got 20% off due to it being whatever kind of holiday sale and it was a great first experiance with LL bean. This store has some great people working there!
Wonderful shopping experience today! Products and clothing are great quality and reasonably priced. Premium fabric and attention to detail with their clothing for sale. Will definately be a loyal customer now.Free monograms when you open a ll bean card. Great Idea for gifts. Love this place.

Clothing seemed more geared for a shorter person to average build. Not for a slim or tall person . Clothing was well made but with less than top quality material compared to other places clothing that was in the same price range. Great customer service.
I love LL Bean and have been ordering from them for years. I love the excellent quality, good prices, consistent sizing and now even free shipping. However, I just ordered two pairs of pants which until this order came in small, medium and large but now they come in sizes. I always wear size 12 but the person taking the order said the pants run small so I ordered one in 12 and the other in 14 but both of them were too small. I will have to order size 16.It would seem to me if you wanted to change to sizes that you would size your products to match those one finds in department stores like Macys. I was so disappointed. I also like the clothes in the Appleseed and Tog Shop catalogs but they are huge and never fit no matter what I do so I quit ordering from them. I hope this isnt a trend so I have to find another store from which to order as I prefer to shop from a catalog if possible. In the past this would have been five stars.Thank you!Margarita Walters
Excellent brand that doesn’t get the recognition. Maybe it’s a marketing thing, but I love the quality. The only down side is not having boots in popular sizes and when the staff contacts corporate, they say it isn’t available. A backorder wasn’t even possible. Losing a lot of sales over inventory.

Using identity politics to define the appeal misses the point. Clothes for everyone. Irrespective of age. Its called classic. Period. Given this is an outlet, not all encompassing, it may not carry every size, in every color. Stock gets depleted quickly, sadly just as the website. Staff are friendly, willing to help you find what you need - or what you might want. Heavy duty Sweat Suits, the warmest I ever found. Fabulous water-resistant boots. Winter wear. Rugby shirts. Jeans. Belts. Store itself well-organized, well-lit. Easy to find in Old Orchard shopping center, Skokie. Huge parking lot. If they dont have it, get it online. Either way, its win-win. Still a reasonable warranty, given some folks tried to scam yard sale or heavily worn items as refundable. Blame them, not LL Bean. Ill get off my soapbox now. Classic merchandise. Very clean store with helpful staff and their return warranty guarantee actually works well. Though this is only our second return in 25+ years the process remained pretty much the same. Their products just last.
While quality seems to be lacking at many retailers, it’s nice to know that it hasn’t changed for LL. Warm sweater, fuzzy socks, camping gears, sheet, blankets, and so much more. They stand behind their products, which for me, has lasted through many washes.
I’ve been a LL Bean customer for over 20 years. I recently purchased a coat priced at over $150. After wearing the coat for only 2 days, I noticed a small rip in the back of the coat. I tried to return the coat today, unfortunately the manager wouldn’t allow for the return. He stated that the material is prone to ‘snags’ and that there is nothing he can do. He suggested to buy a patch. For a company that markets itself as outdoor wear, regardless if there was a snag or not, the material shouldn’t rip. The return policy stated online is different than what the store in Skokie is adhering to. I will no longer be a customer of LL Bean.
Very nice store with a good selection. Some items are more affordable but most are premium quality at higher than average prices. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

It feels pretty vintage inside despite being a newer store. However, like most LL Beans, Im not sure what its trying to be: a more casual clothing store for middle-aged customers, or more equipment-focused outfitter for a younger crowd. This location has a bit of both, but yet doesnt have quite the selection of other outdoor-focused stores that puts it at the top of the list. However, I like shopping here for select items because of the lifetime guarantees. The staff is friendly, and seems knowledgeable when needed, but I do find the check-out process takes longer than just about any store I frequent for some unknown reason (a combination of processing time, Q&A from cashiers, etc.).
Fantastic selection of hearty clothing. I got my winter coat here a while ago and its still going strong. Also a good selection of business casual clothes for work. Im due for an update, so Ill be back.
Nice store if youve ever wanted to check out an item before ordering through the catalog. One thing though, they had a deal recently where you would receive a $10 gift card if you spent $50. I bought a pair of ski gloves for $49.95, and they insisted I buy something else to get the deal. It may have been the terms of the deal, but I expected a little more from L.L.Bean, based on my previous experience. Also no Black Friday deals or sales, so unless you want to check out the quality of an item before buying, its easier to stay home and order online.
I love LL Bean, but they don’t back products like they used to. I was hiking and my new coat ripped on a branch. I mean it was only a month ago and they told me there’s nothing they can do. In fact, they told me to go buy a patch. Like, why don’t you give me one at least!!!If you are selling quality outerwear at higher prices than most, why wouldn’t you back up the prices. It’s sad, and I will go to Patagonia moving forward because they do just that.Goodbye LL bean!

If you like LL Bean clothing, you will like this store. Probably. I suppose other factors could affect the experience. But, most likely, if you like LL Bean stuff then you will be satisfied with this store. If you dont, then probably best to stay well away.
Always fun to shop here. Good quality and guarantee. Nothing is very high tech. Limited selection compared to catalog. Prices are OK but no bargains. Parking is close by.

2020-12-07My wife loves this place and is slowly turning me into a convert. Every time we come here we find something we didnt know we needed. This store has an amazing ability to convince us that we need another pair of $40 socks almost every visit. The staff is always very knowledgeable and helpful. Never a bad experience. Worth the money. Worth the trip.

2022-07-19Such friendly customer service. Stopped in for a first bookbag for my kiddo. The staff was kind and patient, offered to check inventory in the back even knowing all inventory was on the floor. Since I was indecisive on style and size, he looked into dimensions and offered to check product availability online to too. It was kind and thoughtful. The store was also well organized and clean.

2022-06-14They advertised that there was 50% off the entire store. But that was not the case. It was upto 50% off on certain items and not on what I was looking for or actually wanted. But prices are competitive to other sporting stores I guess. I also wish they sold short/petite for those of use who are 54 and below. Couldnt find any.

2021-11-29I had a wonderful first time shopping here for a winter coat! An amazing sales associate spent about 20 minutes helping me find the best coat. I was impressed by how well she knew the products and how much she cared about finding the best one for my body shape. I didnt get her name, but she was an older woman with greyish blonde hair. 2022-02-24Browse the clearance rack. I got an 850-fill puffer for $99 (normal $199). It keeps me warm down to 30°F with no wind and weighs 14 ounces.
