LKQ Pick Your Part - Rockford in other cities:
They refuse to help you on the phone. If I am forced to use there horrible website, I will take my business elsewhere. Their insufferable phone recording is bad enough, but their lame website is where I draw the line. Their ability to make technology workable is a zero on the scale of one to ten, and I say so long loosers!
This place used to be straightforward with their prices but now have a new system that they say they have to adhere to that essentially makes it feel like youre paying three times for the same part. Add onto this where they now automatically add an extended warranty charge onto the price of each part WITHOUT ASKING BEFOREHAND. This is not only a bad business practice but just straight dirty since the price list on the website says the price is one thing then *BAM* you get stung by the total after you pay and get the receipt. If you absolutely have to come here, make sure you tell them before you pay where they can stick their extended warranty charges.
I looked at their vehicles before I drove there and they only had 1 out of 4. They also charge you a warranty fee. There is no sign posted about that said fee and they will not take it off. As quoted by the clerk you have to say you dont want the warranty before I start ringing it up I would understand if it were for lights, alternators, etc. However, they put a warranty on tail lights, plastic. I will not be going back.
Online price and actual price way different once they add on 98686627 different taxes and fees. A $34.99 driveshaft after their taxes and fees was over 80 bucks by time they got done. I left. Didnt get the part. Went to Stateline auto parts for it, paid 50, already pulled. LKQ is a joke. Dont waste your time. AND you gotta pay 3 bucks to get in? Please tell me how this place is still in. Business.
Customer service was excellent and assistance for parts cross ref was offered, I did not need help. Because there was a specific car in the lot and it was just placed I got a bunch of interior pieces like visor, door cards, in great shape. Was after a vacuum tree and actuators they work! 5 stars for this visit. Many times I will look at a car and it is trashed even though the pictures look ok . Also I use a small local yard that tells whether engines and trans are bad. Wish lkq did the same.
Ive come here several times over the years and always had decent luck getting the parts ive needed at a fraction of the cost of new. The people are friendly, admission is reasonable and gets you in all day as needed. The parts yard is organized somewhat well. Overall happy and will keep coming back.
First time going yesterday the people in the front are very helpful and laid back they had one Tiburon in the yard was an 03 green spray paint and monster logos I came in for a hood and bumper cover sadly both being fiber glass the bumper cover was cracked so I got the hood hinges and some extra the total was cheap and when I got home I sprayed it metallic black and put clear coat on perfect fit very satisfied and am looking forward to getting more part in the future
So, they were the first choice when I found out I had to scrap my 2002 Sable, as I always go there for parts. A new alternator, new battery, new starter, and the transmission up and dies. So, their offer for it? Five bucks. FIVE DOLLARS. If I brought it to them! They wouldnt even tow it! The price of a Happy Meal in exchange for a whole car? Thats as insulting as leaving a server a penny as a tip. One rim from the car and they made back ten times their investment. I dont know what they were thinking, offering me the cost of a couple bottles of soda in exchange for a CAR.
I never have a problem here. I call and ask about a part and Im told if they have it or not, never had a rude employee. Prices are fair and cars are laid out very organized. The only issue I have is you have to watch where they mark the part at the sales counter with their paint pen or it may ruin the part cosmetically.
Went yesterday. Front counter staff - young one ignored me when I asked him a question. Did not see a sign about admission in the only door that was open. Never heard of such a thing. When older guy told me there was admission, he went into a big mocking routine. Didnt have my part either. Friendly staff mentioned by other reviewers were not on duty yesterday.
Lots of negative reviews. Ive been here many times and have been satisfied with their prices. I dont understand why most of the poor reviews on here are about their phone call to them, you never are able to talk to the local LKQ because the 800 number is all over the US. They just hop on LKQ and help you find the inventory if you were too lazy to look online yourself. I see nothing wrong with LKQ in person and never have. Great place if you need to find hard to find replacements, or hell even easy to find replacement parts. 5/5
The yard is OK but the guy running the register for admissions is horribly rude if he even talks to you at all. In the yard he will completely ignore anyone who has a question and at the register he is rude. They need to put him on tires or the crusher, ANYTHING that DOESNT involve customers. I dont know his name but hes a skinny grey hared old guy. Hes just plain bitter. Id give more stars for everyone else and the yard but he just ruins the whole experience.
I love this place, friendly service, friendly staff and great prices. The wheel barrows ar very convenient so when you use one put it back so someone else can use it, same goes with the flat bed carts also provided by lkq for your convenience. Ive saved alot of money getting parts here.
Not sure I want to go any further with them after the initial phone call. Someone needs training in customer service. Short, snippy, and made things more confusing than needed by not listening or offering information. Also, when I asked about same day towing she acted like she had no idea what I was talking about and I had to explain it. I was told they dont do same day pickup... Then later when I asked how long it Would take for pickup after scheduling an appt she said it would be within 24hrs. She could have said Sorry, we cannot provide same day, but we do next day pickup. Is just that simple.
Im not going to berate publicly, like Id like. However, whoever answers phones needs a training session or 2...Short: told itd be 4-5 days to pick up my vehicle and it is still in my driveway after 2 phonecalls and 2 weeks of rearranged schedules with folks who dont seem to give a damn....Rock City will be taking care of me on Monday. With all the new parts that are on (including new tires) you lose. Thanks for being rude and not following through.
Most of the cars they get to sell you parts off of are old worn out junk cars, half of the parts are no good. i learned the hard way, i suggest going to a normal junk yard that pulls the parts for you and tests them. less time spent pulling and returning faulty parts!
My first call to LKQ salvage... VERY dissapointed! They have only 1 phone number... this is to an answering service only! NO LOCAL YARD NUMBERS!! I for one WILL NOT drive 35 miles to check on a part! I will go somewhere else that KNOWS WHAT THEY HAVE!! I most likely will NOT try to buy parts here again!
LKQ... The place in Rockford, where you really can pick your own parts by bringing your own tools and harvesting the parts you need from the acres of cars there on their lot! --- truer words have never been said, or delivered by a Salvage/Car Parts aftermarket outfit, to this happy campers experience! I recommend you drop by the LKQ Lot on Harrison in Rockford to get the parts which you from time to time may need for your project, as I do for mine!--6 C. J. Sundmacher
Sales people at front desk including their manager have no idea what are they doing I have a part shipped to them from their home office they couldnt punch that sale inn had me standing there for 20 minutes to figure out they cant sell me part which I ordered and wanted to pay for
Very bad experience, the very high costs for such simple things, I already had a long time without coming and every change for the worse, they include a guarantee for everything that has an extra cost and from that they do not ask you for things that do not need a cover guarantee of fuses please, why do I want warranty on that?

2022-05-29If you like paying MORE for used parts than New ones, head over to LKQ ROCKFORD!! THEY WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO CHARGE YOU EVERY FEE AND WARRANTY UNDER THE SUN FOR YOU EFFORT. This place used to be affordable, but now they dont even have any sales days like holiday weekends. Just buy online somewhere else and get parts delivered to your door. You wont even have to pay $3.00 to get in. Also, Employees are extremely RUDE. SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED DOLLARS SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!

2022-07-31Overall, this place is OK aside from their pricing - Good layout and pretty big selection. They have increased all the prices tremendously, far exceeding general inflation. They tack on their warranty that makes used parts cost MORE than new, even new parts with warranty are less than this place. They will nickle and dime you for EVERYTHING then act offended that you dont want the warranty, its all a joke LOL.

2022-04-12Place is a scam, I didnt want warranty for two pieces of floor carpet and the guy tells me hes gonna charge me more since I didnt want warranty. Why would I need warranty on some carpet and why would you charge me more for not wanting it? Seems like they get to pocket the warranty money or something thats why they get so mad. Not the first time they get mad when I tell them to take off the warranty they also got angry when I didnt want it when buying a seat the wasnt even electric just a basic seat

2022-06-17This place was so helpful! My transmission slowly went out in my car...and finally, when it was time to get rid of it...LKQ is who to call! They gave me the option and a price to either bring it to them or they would come pick it up for a little less.Once again...call LKQ if you need to get rid of a car and put a little money in your pocket with little hassle!

2021-11-15They have had the part I was looking for when I gone there. The reason for 2 stars is because they are pretty organized but its a few things that I think people should know before hand. 1st they charge you 3 dollars to enter the yard. 2nd they automatically apply a extended warranty (why do I need a warranty on a housing? If it was broken then I wouldnt buy it). For example I bought a brake light housing for 24.99 the extended warranty was 7.50 the environmental fee was 2.11 the tax was 2.37 so my total was 36.97 wait I forgot my 3 dollar entry fee my total was 39.97. Honestly I could have gotten it new off line for that price. If I would have know all the fees beforehand I would have ordered off line. I guess if its a part you need right away cool but honestly Im sure I could have gotten that part from another salvage yard around the city for cheaper and wouldnt have had to take it off myself. Just fyi

2019-04-16Its luck of the draw if they have smaller part you might need but well worth the few bucks to get in to check! They even had Mystery Machine there! Leave it to Scoob to destroy a perfectly good van!

2021-08-20Having made a used part purchase today, I now understand why LKQ uses an octopus as their mascot. It is because they have several tentacles sucking money out of your pockets. I found a used hood for my Camry on their website for $55, but then they hit me with an $8 core charge because I didnt have the old hood, and tried to force me to purchase a 90 day extended warranty for an additional $17. Really? A warranty for a hood? They also charged an additional $16 because I removed the hinges and left them attached to the hood. So my $55 hood almost cost me $114. I stood my ground and insisted that they remove the extended warranty, so I got their standard, 30 day warranty for free and paid a total of $91.46.
