The entire extended family went to see the Christmas light display at Lilacia Park - it was early on New Years Eve, just after dark. The display was extensive and was FABULOUS & enjoyed by all ages, toddler to retirees! The venue was free of charge (although I think before Christmas you were asked to bring & donate canned goods.) My only suggestion would be to have a few lights along the pathway as a guide because it was fairly dark as you walked through the park. All in all we enjoyed ourselves very much so if you can, bring the whole Fam next time, in December 2022!
We stopped here on a whim and so glad we did. We werent expecting very much because of the cold and it being early April. We really enjoyed our time here. Everything is clearly named. The walkways were even and free from debris. A very well kept park. Even though its quite a drive from us, we are talking about going back when theres more in bloom.
A Lombard native enlightened me about this hidden treasure in the downtown area. Truly stunning in the spring with lilacs and tulips in bloom. Great walking outing - will return for other park events throughout the year. No problem with parking and train stop is less then 50 yards away.
I love Lilacia Park. It has been our Mothers Day tradition for 25 years, since my kids were little. The Metra UP-W brings us right to the door; allbeit on a limited schedule. Lilac Time is the first two weeks of May and it is glorious when we hit the peak blooming times, like today. Perfectly complementing the countless lilac trees are the bright tulip beds, gently meandering paths, and central lawn and pond. This place is a joyful wonderland for children, and endlessly photogenic for delighted parents and grandparents. (It must be popular for prom photos as well.) The cute gift shop, in Colonel Plums manor house, confirms that lilacs can be painted or quilted onto almost anything. The village is proud of their park and the grounds are very well maintained. Bring your own lunch; there are plenty of benches, and room for picnic blankets.
An oasis and a gem in the middle of downtown Lombard! Peaceful and tranquil and has plenty of benches and tables to stay awhile. Beautiful greenery and flowers all throughout! Great place to relax, picnic, walk the trails for exercise, take quality pictures and read a book (library next door). Not too busy during the week, but very busy on Sundays. Due to heavy pedestrian traffic, no dogs allowed.
Lilacia park is always beautiful. Free to enter, they make it a fun place to explore all times of year, but the best is in the spring! All the different species of lilac, from which the park gets its name, are in bloom and the entire park is planted with different stunning species of tulips. We came for Mothers Day this year when they had a live band playing, a mothers day concert in the park!Edit: May 17th 2022: tulips are fading, come soon.
I love Lilacia Park! It is well tended, thoughtfully landscaped, and absolutely PACKED with flowers! I met my dad here for a picnic lunch, and whike there were a fair number of others enjoying the park, it wasnt uncomfortable. We saw at least 3 artists with supplies and folding chairs set up to paint or draw, a couple people with fancy cameras taking pictures, and families with young kids looking around at the flowers. There really is no excuse to not at least drive by to check this out if you live in the area. Plus its free!
Be aware - first off, no where on this parks website, (that I could find), did it say NO Dogs allowed, so I had taken my best fur friend on a 35 minute ride to go check out what is supposed to be one of ten botanical gardens in the state of Illinois.Second, there are signs everywhere near this park that say no parking, will be towed....from the church and library parking lot right across the street from the park, to the parking spaces at the train station on the other side of the park.In fact, it looks like the best way to get here is to take the train if you dont want the hassle of parking blocks away and walking.Since I couldnt go into the park, due to my four legged friend, we opted to walk the neighborhood block around the park.Doing this its approximately .62 miles to make the circle. You can only see the park from two sides walking the block, but you can also see the little girl statue on one side of the small library, plus some beautiful houses along the way. There was also a statue in the parking lot of what I think was a church/school, close to the train tracks.Im sure this is probably a nice little park once the flowers start to bloom, and Ive heard they have a nice Christmas lights display each winter, but if you are looking for a good walk to really streach your legs, go to another Botanical garden that allows your dog.
This is a gorgeous well kept park with mainly lilacs and tulips blooming in the springtime as well as flowering trees. Very peaceful and tranquil place to take a stroll. Plenty of benches and walking paths, sometimes seems like you are walking into a secluded secret garden.
This review concerns Lilacia Parks winter light display.Coming from an enthusiast of the Morton Arboretum Illumination event, this park was pretty good! Lilacia Park has a wide range of lights on display, which will take about half an hour to walk through. There are no admission lines or costs, but that also means the crowds can vary.My girl and I had a splendid time and got some neat pictures. We will definitely consider coming again.
Love this park. Its free and during the holiday season the park is lit up with Christmas lights. Also there is Santa to visit for free there on the weekends and free hot chocolate and train rides around the park for the kids. Spring time is awesome as everything blooms, especially when all the lilacs bloom! During the summer there is many free events, like movies in the park. Under the tracks via a tunnel is nearby downtown Lombard where you can visit local shops, eat or grab a drink at the local bars!
It’s been a week since we relocated to Naperville from St Pete Florida. My family & I love going outdoors, undoubtedly, parks are one of the best places for Fresh Air in abundance & lots of fun—So, on this Freezing though beautiful Sunday Noon & Mothers Day, My family & I planned on visiting Lilacia Park in Lombard.Luckily, there was an event going on in there, amazing Live Music & Colorful Blanket of Flowers everywhere around the Park, it was worth a visit. One of Park members passing by was distributing flowers to all the Mothers on the occasion of Mothers Day.Also, this historical park is huge, though there was an array of Spring Flowers, Tulips, Lilacs, Spring Mix, there’s no Play area for kids so we headed over to another park a mile away.#Spring #LetsGuide
We came to see the holiday lights display but couldnt go in because all walkways were a sheet if ice. My wife was in a wheelchair and it was impossible to push her on the icy walkways. Everyplace outside the park was salted, but nothing inside the park. We were bitterly disappointed.
A BEAUTIFUL place to visit ANY time of the year. In the spring you have all the flowers and wonderful lilacs with family activities (however my favorite event is the wine tasting), the summer has family movie nights and more, the autumn has all the beautiful colors and harvest themed events, and the winter has the holiday lights and holiday activities with the beauty of a winter wonderland. The walking paths are designed to immerse you into the park and do so well that you forget you are tucked into the downtown area. It just always has a magical feel. There are always great events to check out! And its FREE ADMISSION!(*some events may have a fee to participate, but entering the park is free) It is open 365 days a year! A great place for a wedding, photo shoot, picnic, or even just a stroll. This really is a community gem in the heart of downtown!
One of the largest Christmas walk thrus for free. Took a nice 30 mins from start to end. Asked to bring a wrapped gift donation for Toys 4 Tots-but no one was there to collect and I didnt see a place to put it. Rows and rows of lights!! The path twists n turns through different directions. Some tree lights are extremely tall and magical for little ones. Has a couple places to stop and tske photos. Parking right next to park off the tracks
The people born and raised in Lombard will appreciate this place more than anyone. Lately it is filled with out of county out of town visitors and people that just dont appreciate Lilacia Park for its beauty and peacefulness. Almost ruining the enjoyment while youre there. One teen drunk got in my 62 year old mothers face as she was talking to a local and screamed for no reason and continued to drink his beer. Dogs crapping next to walkways that arent supposed to be in the park. Weed smokers vaping everywhere blowing vapor that hits your kids right in the face. Bummer.
Excellent place to take your kids to see Santa and Christmas lighting decorations. We got very lucky with the weather this year. My children had a blast and the lights were very nicely done 👍 Our favorite part was definitely Santa! He was very kind to my kids and they couldnt stop talking about how nice he was. They liked the fact that he had a real beard . The only reason I didnt give it five stars is because it was hard to find a restroom or even a port a potty . If you have kids you know how important that is 😂. I would definitely recommend anyway. Great job! Merry Christmas!!
Friday was my first visit to this park. The park is an absolute hidden gem. I went there on Friday afternoon and it was around 100 degrees with the humidity, so I basically had the entire place to myself. There is a brick walk way going all through out this beautiful park. There are different garden areas all over. First you might come across a large area of black eyed Susans, then you will come across a large area of cone flowers. There were several different types of lilies. This park has a lit of big old growth trees that provide shade and they have benches located all over so that you can sit in the shade and take in the view. This park is very well maintained and there was not 1 single piece of litter anywhere. I highly recommend taking a walk around this park.
They have an amazing Christmas light walk in winter and In spring the tulips and lilacs are absolutely breathtaking. Every time you come here People are taking maternity photos, pregnancy reveal photos, wedding photos, prom photos and more. Its a great scenery for all lifes important moments.
Beautiful garden with amazing views, with hundreds of different types of the lilac trees and thousands of gorgeous tulips! Its a historic place as well with very interesting story about who started this garden and how, and this place is more than 100 years old..!And to my surprise - nobody charging you for entrance, so there is no fee for anything. And I liked this garden even better than others, where you have to pay for everything, and I had great experience and joy from seeing so many beautiful trees and flowers and cant wait to come back during summer time to see how this beauty will change !And I know that around Christmas time they also have special events and everything decorated in Christmas lights, must be beautiful as well!
Very pretty took some nice shots the kiddos loved seeing all the different plants and flowers. Well definitely go back this was a quick impromptu trip. We went because we were driving in the area my husband grew up. Absolutely beautiful and not too many people though it was near Im guessing closing time when we got there. My son didnt care for the nosie from the trains passing by but other than that A+ outdoor activity.
Love this gem in Lombard! Its so beautiful when the flowers & lilacs are in bloom! Sometimes just doing a drive by is required as good for the soul! Bring a box lunch and enjoy your surroundings! Also check out the bloomometer on the Lombard Park District website. Dont forget the annual Garden Club sale starts Thursday before Mothers Day!
This is a cute little local park, and the reason it gets 4 stars and not five is probably that its just a cute little green space. I also visited in the winter, so I imagine it looks a lot nicer with everything in bloom! That being said the size is about the area of a complete city block, has nicely maintained paths, and places to sit down.
Its a beautiful park within walking distance of downtown lombard. They have a wonderful tulip season during the spring. Clean and safe park. Found right beside the library for convenience. I highly recommend if you want a leisurely stroll. A literal tiptoe through the tulips if you will.
This little park is simply adorable. The city dies a fabulous job creating beautiful floral plantings around their beloved lilacs. The tulip displays are very beautiful. They have a nice water feature as the focal point of the esplanade area.Pre COVID19, there were several local restaurants that offered up some great options. This town is very cute and the gardens are beautiful. Parking can be a challenge, but it is worth the effort.
Unbelievable. The Christmas lights display rivals any around here including the show at Brookfield Zoo and Morton Arboretum. And its FREE! So many illuminated tableaus in a relatively small area. It tends to get crowded during peak times (6 - 8 pm) but still able to maintain safe distance and most were wearing masks. Together with piped in Christmas music, the variety and bright colors made for a most enjoyable hour stroll through the park. It put me in the Christmas spirit, finally .
Lilacia Park is a beautiful place. It is named for the outstanding collection of lilac bushes, which is constantly expanded. Every color, type, fragrance imaginable. In spring, when everything is booming, it is an amazing place to be. The park is also pretty throughout the year with beautiful trees, lots of flowers and many pretty birds. Lots of parking along the street, except during the Lilac Festival, when parking gets very tight.
This is a very beautiful park, especially when the flowers are in bloom. Its wonderful to stroll along the paths and see these gorgeous displays. When there are live music performances, the experience is even more enjoyable. Coming to this lovely park will always be a real treat. I highly recommend a visit!
Beautiful park. Well kept. Im sure it is much more beautiful when all of the flowers are in bloom. But even though not all of the flowers were in bloom, the greenery is beautiful and a nice variety. Great paver trails. Small hills and some steps. Nice water fountain area. Also grassy areas with benches. Will definitelt go back again.

2022-06-29Beautiful park! Flower beds and grass areas are always kept up very nicely. A great place to host small wedding or picnic. I brought some friends here for a picnic and it was perfect. Plenty of trees for shade on hot days, as well as open picnic bunches. Would highly suggest walk, photo shoot, or picnic.

2022-05-24Obviously very seasonal, however there were several photographers and families taking in the sights and smells of all the beautiful flowers on our visit. Try to visit around the time tulips are blooming. Absolutely gorgeous!

2022-01-15Holiday lights are wonderful! This park is great all year round, but best during the winter. It is free and easy to walk around. During busy times they do have food/hot coco. Also, it is right across from the train station so you can get there easily by rail.

2022-04-22Lovely local park. Daffodils blossom in April, Tulips in May, then Lilacs. When lilacs are in full bloom there are a few weeks of pay to enter. Lombard residents are always free.

2021-12-05The Christmas lights were amazing once again. I love how this town still has that old small town feel to it. The family had such a great time. Great job to all the hard work they did putting this together.

2022-06-18Very nice park to stroll through or sit down and relax at, you can tell that the groundskeepers spend lots of time maintaining this place and that they put their heart into the artwork they create. My toddler loves coming here to make a wish at the water fountain, and theres always lots of friendly smiling people here who make this place feel warm and welcoming.
