Business 101: don’t displace frustration onto a customer by way of an outburst. If you’ve over booked yourself because of a holiday and are now overwhelmed with the traffic in your shop , then you need to adjust how you’re running your business. But do not have a fit because the customer requested the water to be changed prior to having a pedicure… especially when the water looked like it had been used by the prior customer. You could have handled that better than choosing to be explosive and not allowing the customer to get a word in.
My favorite place in Oaklawn! Im there every 3 weeks! Lan is very involved in her business and makes sure her clients are attended to, all nail techs do a great job! This is not the fanciest place on Cicero Ave but let me tell you Ive been to some of the other places and havent had the quality of work I receive at Lans!
I asked for this this..and they gave me this... when I asked them to fix it or remove it she said I have to pay the full amount (55$) even tho they didn’t do the thing I wanted. She also started screaming and told my little sister to shut up when she was telling me that they’re bad. Very rude and unprofessional.
Not very good. Went in for dip manicure. They took the most time consuming and inefficient way to remove the dip I had on. The person I had took FOREVER to do my nails and at the end applied some sort of top coat (not the dip top coat) which had to be dried under the uv light!?! (Huh? I do dip to avoid the uv light. Smh). A day later the top coat has come off in spots on 2 nails and I already have a Crack in another nail. I really dont think they know how to do dip. Totally different process from other places Ive been to.
This salon is very clean, the staff is efficient, all employees are courteous and friendly! My no-chip has lasted up to three weeks with no peeling (as long as I wear gloves while gardening or dishwashing). My pedicure is perfect, nails are filed evenly and also polished perfectly! I highly recommend LANs. I have never been disappointed with the service.
If I could rate this place zero, i would. But one star is generous enough. The place is clean, yes, but nail process isnt supposed to hurt. The lady I had I felt did alright, but she just went so hard on my nails, that my natural nail underneath started to hurt and it made me flinch quite a bit. Also, her sanitation skills need work. Her UV light station wasnt properly cleaned, it had scum on it from previous appointments on it and it looked like it hadnt been clean in quite awhile. After application, she didnt properly clean her brushes, she just placed back into the bag as if it was nothing. I would honestly suggest for a place that doesnt charge a lot for a really good nail job is Mimis nails next to riddles comedy club, Wynns nails on 95th street, or any nail salons in the area. Avoid this place.
The employees are mean! They are very unprofessional my nails chipped after a day ! The employees talk about you in front of you !! I am honestly never coming back here again 💀✋I didn’t like my nails so I had them redo them another time and they charged me $5 for it .!!!
Ive been here several times, when things are good, theres no problems. However, if there is an issue, expect to pay for them to fix it. I had a manicure, that wouldnt dry after over 35 minutes, they asked if I wanted a no chip. They not only over charged me for the no chip difference, they also charged me to take the nail polish off for the manicure that wasnt working. Too bad customer satisfaction after their mistake doesnt matter to them.
Decided to try this place since my usual salon was closed. The wait was longer than they quoted on the phone, but I expected it. When I finally got my no chip manicure I had 2 fingers that she cut, but the polish looked good. She didnt try to talk with me at all so I spent the hour watching the tv on the wall.Unfortunately the polish only lasted 5 days. By then, I had 2 nails chipped. By 2 weeks all of my nails had big chips or had peeled off.At my usual nail salon my no chips always last at least 2 weeks, including the manicure I got for the week in Mexico where I was playing in the sand with my kiddo or swimming in the ocean and pools.Ill wait until my salon is open next time.
Very courteous and professional. They speak when you enter. They are efficient and respect your time by getting you in and out or letting you know immediately how long the wait is. The owner is very nice. I am now a loyal customer and only go to them for various pedicures and no chip manicures.
Lan’s is my go-to nail shop since moving to Oak Lawn four years ago. LAN is an amazing owner and nail tech. She expects the highest quality of service from her nail techs. There is a guy that works there (sorry I don’t know his name), but he is the best ever. I have moderate Rheumatic damage in my hands, and he is very gentle and takes the time to ensure that I receive quality nails.
Came in a week ago and I don’t know the woman’s name but she did a sloppy job on my acrylics. She wasn’t careful when she was trimming my cuticles and cut my finger. I let it go because she apologized but it’s unacceptable that and after one week my nails are popping off. For $25 that shouldn’t be happening. Save your money and go elsewhere. btw i only gave 1 star rating because i can’t rate 0.
One of the worst no chip manicures ever! When I took a good look, I noticed that half my nails didnt get painted to the edges. Also while was there saw someone getting their underarms waxed, and the girl put the wax stick into the wax several times to reapply more wax. DISGUSTING! The search continues.
Very upset with this visit. when the lady put the acrylic set on, she left all the glue on the back. didn’t make any effort to take it off. and she cut my finger with her nail! and then the next lady who put the color on, she smudged it and didn’t even fix it when i pointed it out. will never go here again.
I would like to rate 0 this was the worst pedicure I ever received and I didnt get the basic one....i wanted the mud mask and he kept saying wax Im like no ......then i picked the color to go with my no chip ....I ask do you have perfect match he act like he didnt hear me.....he rush through my feet I was finish before three ladies that was here before me.....he got my shoes all wet ......then after i tell him I dont want the manicure now he wanted to change his attitude ...horrible just because a person is not your regular customer doesnt mean there service should be rushed .....sad
***WORST EXPERIENCE EVER**........the male who put my acrylic full set was very rude and heavy handed and also, he smelled like a dirty mop......very unsanitary because the water i dipped my feet in to get a pedicure was dirty........never again...theyre lucky i even tipped them.

2022-04-29Customer service is big to me. I tip well in order to show appreciation for good service (many years coming to this salon). I am a repeat customer when I get quality service. This is not appreciated at LANs. With prices rising for all services, gas, food, etc. it should be greatly appreciated when someone repeatedly spends their disposable income with you - NOT THE CASE!!! As Black people, we should support Black owned nail salons. Here are a few in the area that provide great customer services: The Nail Room - 10045 S Western Ave; Color Me Beauty Bar: 1810 W 99th St. Support those that truly appreciate the value of your $ and provide quality service!!

2021-12-22I enjoy coming to the shop for my pedicure and full set service. However, everyone there doesn’t have good customer service. 1. If you see a customer struggling ( especially elderly, it’ll be nice to step in and assist) 2. If a client is receiving a pedicure, don’t just leave the big bag of nails/color on there lap during the service. Once they chose a color, grab the bag!) 3. Don’t question tipping to clients ! It’s rude. Tipping is based on service; therefore, to come up to a regular customer and question them why someone gets more than another is mind boggling. Keep in mind, it was not the owner who did this but another worker.

2021-08-02Small environment but it creates a more personal experience. Great staff and I love their work. My no chip polish last longer than any other place. Definitely here every 3 weeks!

2021-10-12Great job by Lan! I needed nails done as I was traveling soon. She desperately needs some help though. Eight other techs and she’s still trying to everything, appointments, consultation, salon services…. Her work lasted it just took much longer than it should have 2 hours.

2021-05-21The only problem I had was that everything I wanted done was $5 extra. I had a square shape & wanted to change it up so I ask for a almond shape the lady which goes by Lan said $5 more i said to change the shape..?! So i left them square whatever then i ask for glitter on top of my nail just some gel glitter color she then said $5 more I told her for glitter it could be a gel color with glitter but she kept saying is $5 more. The place is not bad if you just want to keep it simple and lastly she said I like how they look on you much better than the picture i had shown her. Ok so the one who needs to be satisfied is the client not you. Everything i wanted done shouldn’t be added extra unless of course is some rhinestones or some other stuff I was asking for basic. In the end my nails were ok

2021-12-02Took my mom, and it was lack luster, at best. Everything about the mani/pedi we received was ok, but I wouldnt even call it satisfactory. Ive gotten much nicer results at Mimis nails just down the street, but since Mimis place was too busy, I went to LAN to try it. Doubtful Ill ever go back to LAN, tho, as you couldnt even tell the next day that I had gotten a pedi/mani. All I did was get up the next morning and get ready. My feet/heels literally looked exactly the way they did before I got my pedi done, other than the not so great-looking French tips I had them paint on. My heels still look dry and cracked and my feet didnt look like the cuticles had even been touched. They didnt even put cuticle oil Or anything on my hands, even though I asked them not to paint any nail polish on them. My cuticles looked so dry on my hands When I walked out, that I had to put some lotion on in the car just so they looked a little less terrible. My moms fingernails also got ruined by her just opening the car door, & she sat under the fan/light for quite a long time before we left. Asked her if she wanted to go back and said they could fix it, and she was so disappointed by the paint job in general, that she said not to worry about it because she would just remove the nail polish that weekend anyway. (FYI, I did tip both people very well, even tho the jobs they did were mediocre, because its just in my nature to overtip.)

2021-04-04I’ll start by saying, I’m huge in customer service because I’ve worked at a certified Nissan dealership since 2013. I’ve watched what a money-motivated person will do to someone who comes in asking for help. They can be very dismissive after they get the sale. It’s not about the money for me, I have that. It’s the way you treat people. My nail shop is closed today (Sunday), and I say that to say I’m trying to be as unbiased as possible. Not comparing. My point is, my girlfriend brought me here for Mother’s Day. It’s not a bad location as far as initial walk in. My problem came in when i was told that a regular pedicure would be $50 with non-chip. It’s overpriced, and no big deal as I said money, not an issue. They soaked my old nail polish off which was only left on 3 of my toenails not 10, and told me there’s an extra charge for that BUT only if I get the $27 one called “The Classic”. However, If I pay for the $45 no chip they’ll waive the fee. Then one of my nails was shorter than the other, so she asked if I wanted a tip. I say yes. The lady next to her says “extra $5”.... O...K... so all good.In my opinion, No one should have to pay $50+ to get their feet painted, but to each his own. As a big customer service advocate, I clearly read and share reviews. So as I’m sitting here I start seeing review after review (with pictures) about how if you go back in and show them something that needs fixed, they charge you for it, even if it’s their error. Some even said they charged them the full $55+ again. BoooooooooMy nail tech was great, I think she goes by Summer. She was trying to accommodate. It was the tech next to her. I’m assuming she’s the manager or “owner in disguise because I observed every tech going to her to confirm things. She was VERY DISMISSIVE. My nail tech asked this manager about the charge for the nail tip, and she said “yes extra”.I then asked that same woman, what if I just get the scrub, and the take off for my polish, how much would that be? (because I was just going to go to my spot tomorrow for $35 with non-chip included). She looks at me, and with a clear attitude now and said, “$32”.So to soak three toenails off, and scrub the bottom which had already been done at this time, she told me I’d have to basically pay for the whole Classic. .. that was it for me. So, I’m sitting here now for an hour and ten minutes, and Summer is almost finished.Again, Summer was great! But a Business is only as good as the person in charge of decision-making. Summer is the reason for two stars instead of one. Summer will STILL receive a tip from me, because this wasn’t about the money. It’s about the principal. No empathy whatsoever, and I absolutely know that whoever left those other reviews about their issue being dismissed and getting charged all over again just to fix it, were truthful in their statements. Everyone have a blessed day! I know I wrote a boom but that’s how long I’ve been sitting here. 🤷🏽♀️You have to care about your customers concerns like Summer was. It starts at the top guys.
