Great Lake for a walk or run, even fishing. So much shade. I think a lap is close to a mile walk , I could be wrong lol
Fun spot to see some water, hear the highway and listen to the crackle of high tension power lines.
Every time I go here I never catch anything. There is some smaller bluegill but thats it.

2021-07-19It is not a terrible place by any stretch but I give it a 3 out of 5. It has bathrooms and the pier is nice, a map I saw online said it is about 16 ft deep just off the dock. The path around the old gravel pit turned pond is dirt and gravel/grass, not paved. The deepest spot is on the opposite side of the pond from the dock. I saw saw some dog poo that wasnt cleaned up and it smelled bad around the trail. It was also very loud due to the busy road on the other side of the pond, not to mention all the kayakers for such a small pond. I tried to catch fish while there but little pan fish kept stealing my worms. Id say there are fish there but not sure if Ill go back.

2021-07-18Yes its a small 1 mile trail, yes there are power lines but my dog likes to swim there. You do need to have them leashed when walking but I let my dog 🐕 go in the water to cool off as long as nobody is around. ( he is very well trained) its a quiet ( except for the highway noise.😄 ) small park for fishing and you can canoe there or kayak. ( no motor propelled watercraft allowed. ) so walk around 2-3 times.

2020-10-29Very nice one mile walk. Its a little slippery in the morning so wear hiking boots. It would be great if they would put some type of pavement down so its safer for the seniors to walk. All in all its pretty nice.

2021-02-02Happy the Lake County Forest Preserve. Has finally allowed boating (restrictions apply and for good reasons) and ice fishing. At this location. Been walking the trail for years. Very well maintained.
