Kent Young is among the best acupuncturists Ive had the pleasure of using. And his herbal shop is second to none.Since the pandemic he now requests people call ahead to make an appointment, though if you call early enough you can call the same day and check his availability. The small waiting area is often filled with people from all over Chicago, a testament to his abilities. Hes a great healer, quite professional, attentive to his patients concerns, and adept at diagnosing and prescribing a treatment program. Like any real healing, it usually takes more than one visit, but depending on the condition one will often experience results within the first day or two of using the Traditional Chinese Medicine formulations he prescribes.His store is like many in Chinatown, filled to the brim with two packed aisles of packaged herbs and remedies as well as raw herbs behind the counter. He carries the Guang Ci Tang aka ActiveHerb brand of TCM formulations which seem to be a very decent brand, uniform and predictable, always fresh with expiration dates clearly on the package. And of course he has probably 2000+ products from other brands lining the shelves as well. And 2000+ is not an exaggeration!

I regularly get my vitamins (Ginseng/Royal Jelly) there, but my wife has Rheumatoid Arthritis and gets acupuncture there.I’ve never had acupuncture, but I do see my wife go in in deep pain, barely walking...and come out walking better and noticeably less pain!I’ve watched the doctor hold her hand, her wrist, and look at her tongue, and diagnose her as well as the university hospital doctors. He prescribes herbs that seems to strengthen and give her energy.I’m not a doctor, but I do know that this place is helping the quality of life, if not saving lives for so many.

I was living with a constant pain in my left hand thinking I had carpal tunnel, it felt like I needed to snap something in my wrist. I went there the acupuncture felt amazing, then he massaged it and pulled one of my fingers and I felt that snap I needed it was almost euphoric. Havent had pain in 2 years

I didnt know you needed to make an appointment, but I suppose I should have, he managed to squeeze me in. And I did not feel rushed or anything. Very professional was the Dr. as I overheard him interacting with other patients. Quarters are a little tight but he manages it well. And man do the have a ton of herbs and Chinese medicines in that little srore.

There are no words to describe how thankful I am to Dr. Kent Young for literally saving my life 10 years ago. I was in horrible shape and my mom was desperately seeking for help when she found Dr. Young. Doctors wanted to give up on me and told me to just wait to see what the medicine would do. Without going into my medical history, I was hospitalized for 3 weeks, taking very high dosages of strong medication and having to have 6 blood transfusions. My mom took me to see Dr. Young and he was the kindest man during my time of need. I was in so much pain all over, but he was very gentle and kind. One time when my mom took me to see him, I was not able to get out of the car. He kindly came out to examine me inside of the car. I will never forget that day. I was literally wobbling and squeaking when I walked and I was in so much pain. He checked my tongue and my pulse. And it was like after that, he knew exactly what I needed. He gave me 7 bags of tea that were filled with various herbs that did not look familiar OR appealing. He instructed my mother to boil all the contents of one bag each day. If you asked me what the herbs were, I would not be able to tell you, but I will tell you this, the taste was NOT appealing, but my mother and I were on a mission to get me well so the taste was the least of my worries. I could have been digesting bugs if it meant to get me well because I knew I did not want to be sick anymore at the age of 16. Also, he gave me some pills to take as well. I had just been poked with needles 3 times a day in the hospital for 3 weeks, hooked to an IV, and taking 9 different pills 3 times a day that had horrendous side effects. Not so appealing tea and some pills were easy breezy for me! One of my many symptoms was excessive water due to the medication I was on. I had gained so much weight, I went from being a sick 90 lbs going into the hospital to 180 lbs leaving the hospital due to my illness and medication (My normal weight at that time was 145lbs). Within 3 days, I was back down to my normal weight and all of the water was gone. Symptoms began to vanish as well after 7 days and I felt like a new person. Doctors were amazed and thought their medication helped, but me, Dr. Young and God knew differently. I continued going to Dr. Young, and I want to say within 3 months, what doctors saw previously in my body was no longer there. I still had one of the illnesses, but it had healed completely. However, the other illness I had had disappeared. Doctors were amazed. They couldnt believe how well I was doing. Then, fast forward 2 years later from that, I began to experience severe joint pain. Dr. Young gave me acupuncture and it worked as well. I just visited him this past weekend after not seeing him in 8 years and he still remembered me and my mother. Because of the grace of God for blessing this man with such an amazing gift, I am still here today doing better than most people with my same illness. I should have been wrote this review for Dr. Young. Words are just not enough to thank this man for saving my life back then. Please visit him if you are experiencing any sort of pain and struggling with an illness. He is so smart, kind and respectful-- my mother could not have found anyone better. I wish I could give him an infinite amount of stars! His staff is even nice! I love them all to pieces, and I like to think of them as my second family. Kent Young is hands down the best Chinese medicine doctor I know, and in my opinion the best in Chinatown. It is rare to find someone so learned even in China. Not only is he a master of his craft, but he is kind and generous with his knowledge as well. Chicago is lucky to have him!

I cant say enough wonderful things about this doctor. He helped me when my herniated disc was at its worst and I couldnt move. On my way there, the car ride nearly sent me through the roof with every bump in the road or slightest jostle. I went to see Dr. Young and he had mentioned my qi was blocked. I had no idea what he meant, but I was in such pain I wanted to jump out of my skin if I could. He proceeded with accupunture and cupping and it was like a miracle! He told me to bend over and touch my toes, I was terrified to do so because that movement couldnt happen for months and prior to the treatment I could only bend about 15 degrees. He reassured me that Id be ok and I WAS! The car ride home was a completely different experience and after numerous things I had tried such as muscle relaxers, physical therapy, cortisone injections, etc. I was beside myself that someone finally gave me relief. Need more doctors like this, I wish he was closer, but hes worth the trip and you wont be disappointed!

This review is well overdue. I have came here for several years. With No prior acupuncture experience ever performed i decided to give it a try. The cause was migraine headaches that instead of getting them monthly went to every 3-6mo. to rarely getting them.Also, everytime I have muscle tightness from weightlifting I still to this day attend.I totally recommend him.Not a blg place with flashing lights and markets by word of mouth only.

Dr Young is very quiet and polite but knows his profession!!! Ive gotten acupuncture treatment and cost is very reasonable!! He does not try to sell you unnecessary herbs but if he recommends some I would say take it!!!
