Hello everyone, I have ate here a few times in the past 2 years, the food was ok. I used to like the rice a lot but recently because of the increased price of raisins the owner stopped putting raisins in the rice. The hummus appetiser he brought out for our table of four was as big as a teacup plate. Plus on the menu we are supposed to get lentil soup with our platter but of course again because of the increased costs of food, the owner doesn’t give it out. Brother being cheap is haram. Ramadan Kareem Brother 🪚
Had a very disappointing experience here tonight, went with my family( husband and 2 kids )for iftar buffet, the food ran out before we could eat properly , when my husband expressed our feelings to the owner she blamed it on customers taking too much food, WHAT its a BUFFET!!! They have a sign taking about Haram but what is charging a family of 4 $130 dollars, and they didnt really even eat. The owner took no responsibility. Needless to say I would never come back
We were originally going to Al Bawadi.. but saw this across the street. We thought to give it a try. The appetizers were excellent including the sauces and naan(!!). The tea was perfect. We ordered the grills that came with the qabuli pulow - the taste was great but the rice was a little too hard. We also ordered the mantu, which wasnt nearly as good as the Kabul house/express one. Good overall and great customer service!!!!
This place is awesome. The appetizers were amazing. The lentil soup is so good you must try a cup . I ordered kabul mixed grill & it was so fresh and tasty. Even I was so hungry I couldn’t finish the plate.Very nice place for families or friends gathering. The prices are affordable.
First time there, they offer a buffet I think only for the month of Ramadan, the food too salty , and all they offer is rice, I was shocked by the price my self paid $33 , I dont mind to pay that price if it is worth it, disgusted, will never again enter an afghan restaurant.
My first time at this place. We ordered lamb chops , Kabul mixed grille, salmon kabab, naan, tea, appetizers which included a plate with salad, baba ghannouj, hummus and an onion/tomato/chilli based dip.The Naan arrived piping hot and fresh. The tea was spot-on with a hint of cardamom. The lamb chops were grilled perfectly. Not overly cooked or spiced..perfectly tender and juicy. Same goes for kababs (chicken/beef/salmon). The kabuli pulao accompanying the mixed grille was as authentic as it can get...very mildly spiced to perfection with super-long flavorful basmati rice.I have to say these were the best lamb chops I’ve had in a while. Will definitely be visiting again.
Loved it! We went here randomly and were genuinely impressed by the high quality service. The food was absolutely delicious - everything from the appetizers (pictured here) to the main course. The Kabbli Pilau was awesome as well as the Mantu. Also, the Naan was cooked to perfection and the best Naan Ive ever had in the Chicagoland area. Highly recommend Kabul Kabob! Will definitely visit again iA!
As always another amazing meal at Kabul Kabob!! We love this place and come here often. They NEVER disappoint!! The food is delicious, we always order way to much and have left overs that we cant wait to eat!! The appetizers are so unbelievably delicious and the meat is perfectly seasoned and cooked. The owner and staff are so helpful and friendly, many good conversations, theyre always so welcoming! The portion and quality is well worth the cost, even with the slight increase due to covid-19, which they explain when they give you the menu. As always, another great meal, would definitely recommend!!! Should have 10 stars!
This is a storefront restaurant, and is not at all fancy. However, the food is off the charts excellent. The kabobs are tasty and well-prepared. the badinjan (roasted eggplant) is fascinating, and the appetizers (hummos, baba ghanoosh, etc.) are quite tasty. The wait staff is quite attentive and personable. In sum, a fascinating evening, and an excellent meal!
It was our first time we visited this restaurant..not a very good experience…customer service is pathetic so as the cleanliness though food was okay. Not the original Afghani menu taste but okay.Afghani rice are not kabuli Rice…Prices have been changed but verbally not on the menu card and upon asking the manager said we are hoping thatPrices will come down…lolSince than you will be charging customer the new prices without even letting them know???Doesn’t make sense…Food quantity is quite less.
Food is ok, food is kind of expensive and can easily add up together, the price is not worth the amount of food, Kabab is good, chicken is good too, the Pulao is nothing special, though I liked the red onion sauce, the Mantu was not good, just tasted like flour and beef, I could not taste the Lentils or the bland sauce, 3/5.
We had the pleasure to be served by Mariam, some of the best food we ever had, super clean facilities, friendly staff, most delicious, generous portions of meats and vegetables, and the famous afghan rice. Must visit and try for yourself, we came two days in a row, Thank you KABUL KABOB, you are awesome.
Previously I gave them 3 stars for good grilled items, but not 5 star because of bad Kabuli Pulaw. Now Im gonna give them 1 star because the lady has attitude problem, instead of improving the quality she said that I am mentally sick. Due to nature of my job I travel and eat all over in the USA and know the price and quality of most of the restaurants in the US. If you cant take criticism than why you open the restaurant? people are gonna make good or bad comments. To other customer she replied, If you want to eat Halal then you have to pay extra Ok Zabiha Halal meat is only $1/lb extra what about Soda? did you import form Makkah so you gonna charge 300% extra that cost you only 0.15 cents? ridiculous. To other Middle Easterners customer, she replied, this is is America not UAE. She also claimed that I am fake Pashtun or Afghan and she is real one....OK if you are a real Afghan then tell your father be a real man because real man or Pashtun dont shave their beards. Have a nice day
An amazing experience at an amazing place. Absolutely loved the food and the service, they did not disappoint at all. The dumplings were to die for and let’s not get started on the kabob mix it was too good. Loved the fact that everything was freshly cooked. Definitely cannot wait to come again. 10/10 recommend.
We went first time to this restaurant and he charge me extra money compare to what he is showing on his menu. When I called he told me due to increase of the beef prices he charge me extra. He has two menus just to confuse you. I will never go that place again who charge me extra money. If you want to get ripe off visit this restaurant. Wish I can give them below one star. Please fear of Allah before charging extra money.....
The service we received was not up to par at all. We kept being ignored and when we did get the waiters attention, we were dismissed. The restaurant was not busy when we were there, so we took an extra table to accommodate our guests. After asking for the bill multiple times, I kept being asked multiple questions. That led me to believe that they were trying to divert my attention from the bill. We were shocked to see we were grossly overcharged, with the bill being $480. When I asked before coming, I was told the total would be $109 per platter, we ordered 3. No matter how much you overcharge, it shouldnt add up to 480. We went to go confront the management about the outrageous bill but kept being told that they were too busy to talk to us.They wanted to refund $20 but we refused to take it. Management was rude and dismissive towards us. They also claimed since we took an extra table, that we “took business away from them” (when that was simply not true). I was happy with the food and was thinking of coming again. Due to the horrible experience, I will not come again.
This place is great! Excellent food. Making the customer happy is their main priority. We had the Beef Tikka Filet Mangon, Beef/Chicken Kufta and Qabuli Rice. The flavors were spot on! The owners are very nice. They explain each dish to ensure we enjoy our meal. We are definitely going to return for another meal very soon with our family. We definitely recommend this cozy place.
Haji Jamaal and his wife are exceptional hosts when visiting this restaurant for top class service. Amazing food, great ambience and excellent hospitality are a perfect combination to not only a successful restaurant business, but also for an enjoyable and memorable evening!
Wonderful family own restaurant with delicious food at each visit! We have dined-in, ordered takeout, and placed catering orders here over the last 6 months - with superb/consistent quality and service. All the kabobs, Kabuli pulow, and Mantu are excellent! Recommended it to family/friends and they’ve been delighted!
I have had mostly good experiences, but there have also been a couple of times that they make the food super salty. That takes away from the taste as most of the time that it has been good had the perfect amount of herbs and spices including salt. It’s never bland or unseasoned so that’s good as I love flavor.
We had it for takeout yesterday. The food itself was good but the takeout packaging soured our experience. The hummus, salad, mixed in with yogurt and curry dishes/ rice dishes - as the food box barrier was hardly sufficient, and some of the liquid fell too easily in the takeout bag.
Have ordered from here twice now because I couldnt stop thinking about it after the first time! Very tasty food! We were sick of the standard chicken over rice fast food style middle eastern(?) type stuff that the majority of places in the area seem to be and this definitley was a pleasant change! Im not sure what all the sauces and salads we received were but I have to find out because I have some new favorites! Cant wait to order again!
I paid $26.98 for mix grill i didn’t care because I thought it would be worth it but unfortunately it’s not worth it. The food was ok but definitely not worth the $26.98 I don’t wnaa hear it’s expensive because it’s hala meat because that would be the dumbest excuse ever. I do not recommend going to this restaurant. It’s way way overpriced. Plus I really don’t know how the owner responded to customers reviews absolutely not professional at all.
I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars!!! They have AMAZING food. And Im not exaggerating - not even a little bit. When I finally got to the try this place, the place was pretty lit. 3 big tables were taken and I didnt feel Covid-safe. But they were OK with me choosing where to sit.Staff gets swamped and it may feel like an eternity to get service (especially with the aroma teasing you), but once you get their attention they are extremely pleasant to deal with - despite the traffic and everyones needs.I will definitely be eating here more often. We were missing quality Afghani food on the south side.
This is the best middle eastern restaurant in the Bridgeview and Chicagoland area. Their kebobs here are juicy, flavorful, and FRESH. They use high quality meats and ingredients and everything we have always ordered is delicious. The environment is incredibly clean inside and out and they take great care with every order. If you are looking to cater a family event or party, I highly recommend ordering a few of the family platters. Everything is literally included with the family platters: different types of rice, multiple delicious grilled meats, salads, multiple appetizers, etc. I have ordered from them numerous times and have always been impressed. If you want a change from the same old restaurants in Bridgeview, stop by Kabul Kebob! They serve many homemade Afghan dishes that can not be found in any other restaurant in Chicago.
For food, I wanted to give 4 stars, but for the owners behavior, I am giving 2 stars. His behavior was very bad and he was complaining about COVID, inflationand also that we went to his restaurant on a very busy night and thats why he had a shortage of carrots and raisins which he didnt put over Afghani rice. Half of the menu items were not available including water and dessert and he charged $2 each for water bottle. He is thinking that he gave us food at a reasonable price which is not true.We went to Bridgeview from Skokie for Fattoush restaurant which was fully booked and we regret why we didnt go to Albawadi restaurant which was across the street. Their service is good and they never charge for water or rice. Their 3 platters are big enough for four of us.I think owner of Kabul Kabob should change his attitude if he need customers.
This place is great! Our appetizers were amazing, highly suggest the mantu and shrimp. The lentil soup is so good you must try a cup. I got the lamb shank everything from the lamb to the rice and the sauce was so good I ate it all. The staff and owner are so friendly very nice to talk to. Even had some tea after we ate which was a nice touch to the end of our meal. Highly suggest going here.
Wow, I was extremely impressed with everything here. This is a small restaurant tucked away in bridgeview. It was filled with delicious food and amazing customer service! I expected the food to be good but it tuned out to be great!! We got the 4 people family platter and they served us fresh naan with delicious appetizers like eggplants and baba ganoush hummus and a few others. Definitely stop by here!!!
Love this place!!! Highly recommend! The food was fabulous and taste delicious. The food was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. There is great variety on the menu. The atmosphere and aesthetics are beautiful. We had the family platter, and the serving size was very generous. The kabobs, the chicken and serloin steaks were seasoned and grilled just right. Great tasting rice. And the variety of sides were very yummy. Would only suggest more serving utensils, and higher quality stainless steel serving utensils. Otherwise the service was great, super friendly staff. We will totally be back again!
So we placed the order online but for some reason their system did not receive it, even though I received a confirmation email. anyway spoke to the lady at front desk who was accommodating and went ahead to place the order (reason for 2atars). Food was ok, the chicken pieces were extremely hard to chew so we barely ate that. maybe we caught them on a bad day, but I felt a little disappointed.
Nothing I say is any different from the rest of the reviews. Their food is spectacular! The inside is so warm and cozy. We tried most of their meat dishes and each and every piece of meat was succulent! Cooked perfectly and seasoned differently. The lamb chops were, by far, the best Ive had ever! This is the place to go, no joke!
The food is great but aside from that the place is way over priced and they include a “service charge” AND tips in the bill “regardless if you want to tip or not”. A meal for 4 people with no drinks and no desert will run you a minimum of $130. In addition, the silverware and plates were damp and they didn’t include any knives. Won’t recommend
Their minced chicken koubieb was awesome. The crunchiness on the meat was so delicious. Ordered two items, both were good. Its not pricey too. Recommend ordering multiple skewers of meat to get the best for your bucks. Their menu is small but the quantity is good enough for one person if ordering lunch or dinner kabobs.
If there was a zero star I would do. Coming on Ramadan weekend to eat kabab the place is not organized you can’t walk !!! Then extremely poor management 50 min no kabab. People behave really bad very low class just paid 50 dolors left the place HUNGRY MAD DISAPPOINTED and never ate what I want because people load a lot of food employees don’t know what to do no signs no control no management NO WATER !!!! You guys are extremely bad will never ever walk there again
Not only is the food amazing, authentic, but the service is STELLAR. We catered yesterday and there was a slight mixup. The manager was extremely nice, said I want your party to be perfect, and delivered me a tray of fresh kababs and rice! That too on a busy holiday. Thank you and we will be customers for life!
Tender meats, delicious rice, amazing sides.afghan bread was a little burned from the bottom not a big deal but something for owners to keep an eye on.we ordered fries for kids on side the amount they charge and the portion size was not fair something else for the owners to consider if they can improve couple of things this restaurant will go a long way.
I hate to leave a bad review but the service at this restaurant was unacceptable. We went for the Ramadan buffet. People got up to get food all at the same time since it was the fast break time. By the time it was our turn there were no more Kabobs. Even the rice dishes and the stews had no more chicken or meat left in them! The owner or manger was at her table having her dinner at her busiest hour. She told us from her seat that more Kabobs will come soon. We grabbed some hummus, rice and salad (Not Afghan dishes) and broke our fast while waiting on the promised Kabobs. When a man came out of the kitchen with a single plate of Kabobs and dumpedbit in the pan, we got up but a couple guests were faster than us. You either do a buffet right or just serve regular menu! You dont have a sit down dinner at your busiest hour. And when a guest complain when paying that they didnt get to taste the kabobs and didnt have a pleasant experience, you dont offer them to stick around and wait for kabobs! You comp a portion of their check. You also should not add gratuity automatically to your checks when your establishment lacks the most basic customer service skills.
My brother brought me along to this place and as soon as we entered, we were warmly greeted by the owner who was extremely enthusiastic and welcoming. The food was amazing as well but the customer service is what makes this place special. Prices are typical/reasonable as well. Check this place out, you wont regret it.
Hands down one of the finest customer service experiences I have had. From start to finish we were taken care of as if we were the only ones in the restaurant. We ordered 3 of their family platters since we had a large group and it was an overwhelming amount of food. But man was it amazing. Such delicious hummus, baba ganoush, and this tomato onion dip that blended all together on soft, hot bread. Then came the massive platter of delicious kabobs on top of rice cooked with spices and carrots and raisins. I couldnt stop eating. Highly recommend
I was very excited about this restaurant based on the reviews I have read but unfortunately We didn’t like the food at all. Chicken koobideh was too salty and my beef koobideh was tasteless. Giving three stars for the good service and fresh hot bread right out of the oven. I have eaten at better Afghan restaurants than this one.
This place is amazing we are always greeted so warmly by the owner. The costumer service is what makes this place special! the food is super tasty i ditch the al bawadi for this place. I will always be a customer my family and i love kabul kabob! Portions are big so much left overs to take home and lentil soup is amazing and the dips are wowzers!!!
Omg this place is hidden treasure the food is the best ever we went for lunch today and the foods taste are bomb I highly recommended this place the people are soo friendly guys dont walk run to this place i will bring my family there also the price are so good too 😍😍😍
So happy we stopped at this place tonight. I’m a sucker for Afghani food and this spot did not disappoint. They had a buffet for Ramadan, so we got to sample quite a few different dishes. The food was delicious, everything was seasoned and flavored perfectly. I tried their eggplant dish (borani banjan) and it was amazing, and I’m sure I will forever crave! Will definitely be back to see what their regular menu will have to offer!
Too pricey compared to other quality kabob spots, but generous portions, excellent service, friendly professional staff, quaint seating and exotic, yet upbeat music. This place is made for families with the set up of a North side Italian family restaurant.Plenty of parking and Grub Hub/Uber/Doordash friendly.
This place is hit or miss. not consistent. i came in about a month ago and was served by a guy by the name of Abu Shadi. brought my wife and kids a few days ago and everything was horrible. it look like the owner and his wife want to entertain guests that are not arab or muslim. i had the shrimp appetizer and it was very hot but stale. you can tell because it was very chewy. thats not how i had it the first time i visited. the first platter came out fast the second took forever. it seemed like they forgot about us. a nearby table got bread with their food , and when we asked the server she said that the refill was an additional charge and the first time its free with the food. well she never offered in the first place and i do remember Abu Shadi giving it to me the first time i visited along with my mixed platter. we asked for no carrots or raisins on rice. guess what we got carrots and raisins on our rice. poor service. food was ok. you guys are typical arab business owners. you guys put your own kind to the side and take care of the ajanib. i have more to say but the experience was so horrible i feel like im wasting my time. by the way you are out of straws, could you order some?
Kabul Kabob was amazing! The nan was so hot, and soft delicious. I ordered the chicken kabob. The entree came with hummus, salad (which had fresh mint leaves) white rice and a kabuli rice (a rice pilaf with shredded carrots and raisins. I called ahead for seating. During the month of Ramadan the restaurant is very busy. The line was to the door and every table was taken. I did not wait long as I called ahead and placed a to go order. The restaurant has an all you can eat buffet during Ramadan. The store closes at the owners discretion in Ramadan so that is great for anyone looking for late night eats. The food smelled wonderful and was equally as tasty. Very good customer service.I tried to reserve a table. The person over the phone informed me of what time I needed to arrive at the location. He did not realize initially he overbooked the table. Once he realized it, he called me back immediately to let me know all the tables had been reserved. I thought that was very kind and professional. I proceeded with my takeout order. This place is great! See for yourself.
Wow! The most delicious! Tried numerous dishes and all were oustanding! I cook at home foods from all over the world. I am a foodie. This is the best! The warmth, kindess, generosity, and attention to my pleasure was outstanding. I felt welcomed as with brothers and sisters. I live an hour away but will go often when I wish to be spoiled. Blessings to owner and staff! My husband and I are dearly grateful for you!!!
They cheated on us when we went to eat and We asked why you have a Buffett on SaturdayThey was dishonest And lie and said we honor the grand opening of our neighbor !!the buffet was already paid by the owner of the neighbor of the grand opening shop and Also half of the trays of the food was empty and she charge us full price.
Good place to be very expensive for the food portion you get but also I didn’t like how he treats his employees especially one waitresses by someone whom I guess to be the owner I watched several incident where she came to ask him something concerning business but unfortunately he showed her an angry face with bad attitude while also he was chatting and laughing with other employeeI hope this will be a wake up call to rectify your behavior

2022-01-12This restaurant has the most authentic Afghan food in all of Chicago. Their staff and owners are very hospitable to their customers. Their website is also very user-friendly and zabiha-halal certified. I highly recommend their Kabul Mix Grill and Mantu. The food is always cooked perfectly and their service is phenomenal. Definitely, a must-try if youre ever in the area!!

2022-05-15Great place, awesome food, been coming here and two years now. Not all the time.. like once every couple months. Owner is a great guy. I did however run into a situation tonight and, unfortunately, will not be coming back anymore. If you do order over the phone for carry out just confirm your order before paying and double check your order once handed to you. PS one bad experience can ruin and good place. Maybe in the future I’ll come back but as of now I think I’m gonna take a break.
