There are 2 parts to this store. On the left is an Asian market. Its pretty average sized for a market and has a pretty decent meat section, but to be honest, I dont go there much.On the right there is a cafe that serves hot food and halo halo which is a dessert drink made from red beans. The hot food area is really nice. There is a nice selection of Filipino food like pancit (like chow mein), tocina (fried pork in a sweet sauce), longanisa (a sausage that has a great sweetness to it), spring rolls, lumpia (like a spring roll), and other foods that I dont know the name of. All of the dishes can lean on the fatty side.Theres even a cooler with drinks. They take credit cards, and offer hot plates that include two sides and either white or fried rice. The staff is pretty friendly, but I wish there was a better effort to identify foods to people who arent aware. Even something as simple as a paper label on the glass case.
This is the go-to store for Filipino food and groceries here in southwest suburbs/ Bolingbrook. They stock a variety of products and they have good service. The owners are nice too. Ive seen their growth from a small, basic store to having expanded with an eatery/ catering. Keep it up!
This place has the freshest, tastiest, and best priced take out filipino food you can buy. You can take out or dine in. We come here every Sunday to get our food for the week and they never disappoint. All the staff are very nice and polite. One in particular is Bernadette. She is always smiling and courteous. She and all the staff behind the counter make you feel right at home.Did I forget to mention they also have an Asian Grocery store? Yep, they do. Well stocked with fresh, frozen, and imported goods. I use to bounce all over until I found this place. Now I only come here. They know how to treat their customers. A+ to JoFen. Keep up the good work!!!As far as all the negative comments, Its obvious they are from competitors.Have a good day and god bless everyone.
4/1/20 visit :Good variety of food. Unfriendly Staff. We came in early so it’s not that the store was busy. Not one staff member ever smiled or say good morning or hello. Not even when another customer said Hello. Not the typical “filipino” welcoming trait. No “hellos” or “thank you” or “have a nice day” —- which i find very odd and frankly, rude for being in a filipino store. Combo meal price is also pricey compared to other asian stores in the Area, and most food items in their turo-turo are “not included” as a combo-choice. Hmmm...Prices on the marquee also not updated so it would actually cost you more that what is being advertised. Grocery area have good variety of snacks and condiments. And so far the items we purchased are not stale. The reason for my 3 stars is mostly because the customer service at this place is very disheartening considering Filipinos are known for their welcoming, hospitable, warm and kind personalities.
I have been going to this place for about 15 years, even before it expanded into what it is now. It is a grocery store with a ready made food counter. It has all the fresh ethnic foods and ingredients that an oriental store should have. The ready made food counter is the real hero here though. The food is always hot and good tasting. Cooked traditionally. I moved to Chicago, but I still choose to come here bc there is no other filipino food market that beats it. Its better than both seafood city and unimart combined. Highly recommend.
Never buy hot food after 330pm. It’s not fresh anymore. The best time to Buy a cook meal is when they open. Because it’s still freshly made. But still? be careful. It might be from 3-4 days old re-heats. I know because, I got food poisoning. Then, if you buy frozen Fish like salmon head smell it and look at the eyes. Because it’s spoiled too. when I got home and tried to cook it. It started bubbling. Always check expiration date. On everything you buy.
The service was phenomenal and everyone was very heloful, its not a huge store but theyve got the best snacks and some great seafood. A few of them smelled a little off/old but the prices for everything else where right. There is a HUGE selection of snacks my goodness, if you want oriental snacks go here. 10/10 will be back
You can find beautiful Filipino foods here you cant find anywhere else, from exotic meats to whole fresh seafood as well as freshly made, made to order on the go.....very nice people there....been back there again...now the made a small restaurant style store on the inside of the store...so now you have a great variety of so many delicious authentic meals and foods to choose from....not to mention their fish market ...omg...this store has merchandise from several different places from around the world..some even mention where ,for instances...it could be a fish for sale and on the tag for the fish it will say africa or some country ..just an example...very friendly people...please go check them out , a real original and authentic Asian market for the scale of it.My girls is in some of these pics from there....she was born in the Philippines and knows her foods...we live a good 35 40 minutes from this place, she insist this is the only one we go to. ...please leave a post or reply or something if you decide to go,let me know what your experience was. ...Ohhh...lol...one more thing...while I was shopping i witnessed an older lady picking through live crabs for I guess the perfect ones for her soup or whatever...thought that was pretty cool.
Friendly staff. But careful at the checkout. Register staff gets overwhelmed with phone calls and ringing items & over charged you?! Double check everything and pay attention to what you bought at the register. I live in Indiana. I work in the area. We’re tired and it’s a long day. We want something quick!? We go here because it’s convenient. But not to suffer from getting ripped off and served spoiled, rotten food. There times!? we called in & asked if they have Salmon head available for sale. They said, yes! Now, the lighting inside the store not that great. I can’t tell?if the Salmon head was fresh?I bought 8 heads. Got home, cleaned it for cooking. All of the sudden the stench of this Salmon was horrible. So, we thought!? Maybe we boiled it?it can be salvaged. And then, the soup was showing bubbles.( we making sinigang) we even tried to fry it. Instead? We stop before cooking all together. Before,we get food poisoning. We called and was told to bring back. Now, I can’t bring the rotten cook pot. It was thrown out. I was told, that I should had brought it back with other uncooked food.!?🤮🤮😱😱 & was told those Salmon was fresh and freezes after removal of the head from the Salmon body. But even, Frozen food has expiration dates. We can’t control things sometimes. As far The restaurant?! Ohhh 😮!? Be careful. Because, they reheated food. 👨🍳 👩🍳 over 2-4 days old. My favorites was deserts (ginataan) gluten mixed with sticky rice, sweet potato, jackfruit, pearl ball. I got home over 1 hr. Drive. I heated it up for a minute in the microwave. It’s started bubbling and it has the sour taste & smells. I called & told them.My whole experienced was just bad. Never buy hot meals here unless it’s just freshly cooked & you see it just cook?! And sniff it with your 👃. never buy frozen food unless you bring a bright flashlight 🔦 and use your sniff test nose 👃. Prior to buying. I know that it’s hard to own a business without spending and wasting money. When it comes to food !? we aren’t supposed to wasted. But?!You better believe !? Food poisonings is REAL!? your customer Jofen will either die of it or SUE and closed this place. Again!?
This place has the most reasonable price on Filipino items! I have been in USA since 1999, I have lived in Darien, Chicago and Joliet, almost all Filipino stores are overpriced. Fortunately Jofen retains a very reasonable overhead which is probably why they keep expanding and getting more customers.. Im always recommending this place
We come here often after work or workout. When you dont want to cook when an exhausted day. We go here most of the time is everyday. My favorite -are hot meals. Especially, milk fish(banged). We buy and spend meals between $ 20-$45. I was told that most of the hot food arent fresh.Since, Ive moved in the area from Indiana.now, I resides in Romeoville. Ive been visiting this place. I had noticed that I purchased my favorites Bangus. When I got home getting ready for dinner. Heat for 5-7 min. 350 degrees. (the Fish Bangus.) its tasted like a chewy sponge. I was told it was fresh!? Its more like fresh recooked for another day. After I had tried calling but the store was close over the weekend for Holyweek. 4/14/2017. When I finally able to speak to someone(4/17/2017)!? I was told to return the fish with the receipts. Garbage truck picked our garbage over the weekend. I was just simply, want to say that I didnt want refund just cook me fresh hot meals. Not re-sell unsold hot food the next day till its sold. The eatery isnt fresh. Anytime the hot food isnt sold they re heat the next day.
Great little Filipino grocery with a hot food bar. All the classics are there and all really well done. The Beef Caldereta is especially good. My wife thinks their Totang Talong is a little bland (her favorite dish her Lola used to make) but is good. Every thing else is just as you would expect. Their butcher shop has a large selection of goat and other items somewhat hard to find in an American grocery. Maybe that is why there is a large number of non Filipino ethnic shoppers there as well.
Got in there at 6pm to pick up plantains, the staff rudely announced to that they are close and so cant help me. I mentioned to then that I will let others know about this poor service and then again the staff said they cant be bothered. These people are rude, dont shop there
I love the store plus the customer service since we know about this store, Recently i bought a box of mangoes which has maybe 10-12 pcs , out from that only 2 is ok - but the inside its only the half that can be eaten . ( the inside of the others is black and cant be eaten ) , Since we came from work , we dont have time to bring it back to show them- when i came in the next time - i have mention it and i was told -i shoud have brought it in which im supposed to , but then i explained why. NO RESOLUTION WAS DONE ON THEIR END which i think it was not fair on our side - its only almost $10 and we just wasted that. Kind f unhappy about that.

2021-09-13I found the Ding Dong mixed nuts snack that I like here. I bought 20 of these since its a bit of a drive to get here for me.. I didnt find the Nagaraya Adobo crackers nuts here. That was the one I really wanted.I didnt try food in the restaurant side of this place. I remained strictly in the grocery side.I give 2 stars to this place because they have food here that you cant find in regular grocery stores.CONS: 1. The place is grimy and dirty. The floors are a bit greasy and have dirt and grime on them. The freezers are old, beat up, and very dirty. 2. Some of the products in the refrigerator section are being kept at too warm temperatures. 3. There are boxes, cleaning materials, merchandise, and other things being kept in the aisles. This is clearly a fire hazard.BOTTOM LINE: 1. I wouldnt buy anything perishable here for fear of food poisoning. 2. Prices are decent here. 3. Come here for hard to find, non-perishable items only.

2022-04-09I drove her far from my place , I asked the staff to make me halo2x but then she refused to take my order coz she said she have to cut the ingredients. I was upset. She always rush to take our orders and not even given us the chance to choose the orders. Customer is always right supposed to be however not in this restaurant. Also, widen the store ...needed enough space to move around.

2020-10-20I love this store, I heard about this store through word of mouth searching for some kopiko coffee candy, and they have them there. Their prices are very reasonable amd I cant wait to taste their food. They were closing when I went there but Thats just an excuse for me to pay them another visit. Ill probably go this weekend again. I just hate that I been out here for years and never been there. If you havent been, stop by amd see their fresh sea food, and grab some noodles while youre at it. See ya there!!!!!

2021-11-13Took a client to this store where she purchased some food and it was a plus for her. You can also change your money here from American to Philippine and visa versa. They also have a Philippine fast food in the grocery store if you would like to try Philippine food. I couldnt tell you how it taste for I havent try it yet. I was on duty.

2022-04-09The website posted closing hours at 8pm. Drove in the rain and arrived at 7:15 but store was already closed. I called to express my disappointment and they didn’t even have voicemail.

2021-04-14Filipino store that sells a variety of food. They sell meat, some produce you cant find at regular grocery stores, they have familiar snacks, baked goods, sauces, mixes, rice, drinks, frozen foods, beauty products, calling cards, etc. Worth checking out if you havent been. They also have a small restaurant within the store that sells hot Filipino food, but go early to get the freshest and also because they put away food at 4:00 pm even though the store closes at a later time.

2020-11-01Normally I love this place. But I worry that they are slipping a bit.Twice in a row I’ve bought the store made garlic peanuts. The first time they were raw and had a bitter taste. The most recent time they were undercooked and smelled of dirty oil as well. So... avoid the peanuts. There is an odd smell in the store that is getting worse over time. I worry that they need to do a more thorough job cleaning the butcher area. Also, inspect the meet before you pay for it to make sure you are happy with the piece. The kitchen had good food though. You can buy anything there and be quite happy with it. I will also say the store is quite well stocked.
