Wonderful people and a unique take on fried food! This was the tastiest, most flavorful fried chicken we’ve had!!
Some of their food is good, although they do not always debone their fish correctly and Ive almost choked on the perch. There should only be one bone left in perch if deboned correctly.Their fries are inconsistent.Do not order the catfish steaks, they are disgusting and filled with bones.The catfish fillets are better.Normally coleslaw would come with my fish for free but when I started ordering an extra coleslaw I still only get one.When I order from doordash I dont always get my food from this location. There are two JJs fish right next to each other which makes everything confusing for no reason.
Great Wings and Chicken strips, Great Shrimp and The Catfish Tails were cooked to perfection! My kids and I liked this place over the competition! They WIN! Even gave us extra lemon pepper! Our spot!!!
The staff was extremely courteous and accommodating. The service was fast and the guy at counter double checks which sauces we prefer plus other details which shows he wants to please the customer. I would have given a perfect score if the tables were cleaner.

A great place to eat. Great food, quick service, and generous workers. I ordered 50 Chicken Wings with fries and 25 pieces of Catfish. My order was complete in about 20 mins. I am disabled so the worker was kind enough to drop the food off to my daughters car. Thank you for an excellent welcoming experience. Will definitely visit again!
Very disappointed. Ordered 100 wings for a family gathering. The wings were nasty. They were not fresh and cooked in old grease. I was very upset and had to apologize to my guest for the terrible food. Wasted alot of moneyI sent an email and i never got response .
Their opening times aren’t correct. Came by 30 minutes after they are supposed to be opened and the doors are locked. Their open sign was even on. Someone was inside but shoo’d me away. Not sure their actual opening time, but I’d say noon to be safe.
Absolutely disgusting place. flies everywhere, the restaurant looks like it has never been cleaned. the floors are disgusting, the walls are disgusting, about 100 dead fruit flies on the window sill (can just imagine how many are floating in the grease vats). i look over the counter into the kitchen and i see food on the floor, the grease vats look like they have never been cleaned...i got my food, looked at it and threw it away, didnt risk eating it. first time ive ever had to call the Health Department in my life time. dont waste your money or risk your health eating at this place.Edit: i have the right location, JJ Fish & Chicken, 184 S Bolingbrook Dr, Bolingbrook, IL 60440.
This place cook good! It’s fresh. However, I’ve been to a lot Jj fish or any fried fish restaurants. And I know what fresh taste like. When oil get changed weekly.
Ordered the family meal. 10 fish 30wings.with coleslaw fries and bread.. no fries no coleslaw no bread. First piece of fish mostly bones. No taste.in the batter. Called to complain about missing food said manager will call back. Still waiting........,... 67dollars through GrubHub had to send daughter to KFC to get coleslaw and fries. Another 15 bucks.
Straight trash I asked for extra lemon pepper Im pretty sure they charged me for some and they barely put any on there use to be good now they trash and over priced

Dining in J & J Fish and Chicken was a wonderful dining experience during my visit to Bolingbrook last month. I was amazed to see that the atmosphere is totally changed because of the NEW MANAGEMENT.... Food was so delicious especially Fish and Shrimp…. It’s a COMFORTABLE, HYGIENIC and BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED place providing a great taste and customer service and meets the level of customers satisfaction.I highly recommend you to go and see the positive change the new management has brought….. Previous reviews may misguide the customers, therefore I recommend you to go and feel the change overall. I am sure your views will be completely changed once you try it.
I bought a chicken and fish combo, when I got to my last piece of cat fish it had a brownish look where it suppose to be white flesh ! My guess is that they are cooking left overs too ! I brought it to the cashier/cook attention and she argued with me about it and Im the one who spent $13. I thought customers are always right but not at this place ! The interior is full of grease stains and dirty looking ! The health department needs to take a look in this place !
Ever since this location got new management and new employees, its gotten much better! The food is always made fresh and its delicious! Everyone who works there is much nicer and accommodating. The interior of this location is much cleaner and the renovations make this a great place to eat!
We are visiting from out of town and this place was recommended for their catfish. We went last night close to closing. We’re staying only about 6 minutes away. Upon getting home we realized the fish was not thoroughly cooked. Upset we headed back out only to get to th restaurant and it was already closed. No problem, we go back today with food in hand to addresss issue. Guy at counter was just like “oh you should’ve checked it before you left” and “you should’ve called and spoke to owner”. Well to say we just handed him the food and said just throw it away. Won’t be visiting here again during our trip.
My first time trying lemon pepper shrimp i must say it was good so good i almost went back for more . not a fan of the coleslaw my opinion it should be left off the menu but who am i snacks /cookies were tasty ..
This place looks amazing!! Finally decided to give it a second shot after 5 months to find out the management/owner changed...thank God!! Its so clean and welcoming inside. Employees are friendly and the food is DELICIOUS! Thanks for the awesome customer service and scrumptious food! Will definitely be coming a lot!!
I see so many reviews about the fish being undercooked. The order we placed everything was over cooked the fries were hard the chicken was hard and had no flavor. I used to love this place never again. Sorry
Hmmm...8 5-star reviews all at the same time...thats amazing!...Or complete BS. They just all happened to review at the same time and for all but one it was their first and last review of anything! I was going to order here, but a place that has to make up their own reviews is kind of scary. I checked over at yelp for anything within the last 2 months since that seems to be when they got their new management and great clean restaurant!...and there was one 1-star review.
Looking for some good fish/chicken wings meal, this is a place to be. The food is good, friendly service and their fires are best in town. You must try their unique buffalo chicken its mouthwatering/delicious.Seeking for a taste then this place is highly recommended
Went on lunch and ordered a small catfish fillet meal. When i got to work and opened the food, instead of catfish it was Talapia . Called them and he informed me to bring the food back. Got there showed him the fish and he still insisted it was catfish. The fillet was thin and it split down the middle just like Talapia and it also had a different texture than catfish. But he still tried to sell me on it being catfish. So they didnt switch out the food or give me a refund. So I wasted my lunch break and gas for nothing. I have went there for lunch many times and the food is good. But they will never get my business again. I could never go back to a place that tries to sell Talapia for Catfish.
Reeked of spoiled raw chicken. Owner got upset with me after I stated this fact. Told me I could just have my money back if I thought it smelled that way. Gladly accepted my money back and walked out. Will never eat there again.
Okay lets go what can I say, I ordered a full pan of catfish fillets for my first oder, had way to much seasoning,the second time I ask for no seasoning because the first time it was way over salted🤔 gave me a headache🤒I couldnt even eat it .the second time thats when I asked for the no seasoning and he still put so much pepper on it didnt make any sense😤 and if if it was catfish it was not soft like catfish? It was way too hard way too thin with a split down the middle as soon as I pick my fish up to break it,it fell apart straight down the middle like tilapia😵 thats sad. and I like catfish and Ive eaten tilapia it was way too hard so I know the difference and now that Ive read the reviews everyone says the same thing theyre great for chicken it should be chicken and tacos 😊😟....
Pros:- Taste of the food. (IMO, better than Long John Silvers, which is located on N. Bolingbrook Dr.)Cons:Filthy interior.No prices on the menu behind the cashier.No air conditioning.* I tried this restaurant on June 25, 2012.
Ordered wing and fry basket. Waited 15 mins and I was the only customer. Took food to go. Sat for dinner. OMG . What a disappointment. Wings appeared to be from cornish hens. Small. They were bruised, i.e., they had visible black spots thru the skin and meat. Everything was over salted. Lemon pepper was so old, until it was clumped in its dispersal. Inedible and unsalvageable.
The place pulls no punches. If you want ambiance go somewhere else. If you want good fried food come here. Its a stop and grab something for lunch type of place. Oh yes its clean.
Visited with my friends few days ago, and to be honest the meal and service was awesome. The food there is too delicious! i loved it ! and i bet other will like it too. The management of this store is really good, people should visit there!
Just a warning, there was a roach on one of the dollar bills my sister-in-law got in change from this place. Probably not the cleanest place.
I placed an order for 5 pc catfish steaks and received 10-12 pieces of chunked up catfish steak pieces. I was disappointed that the employees thought this was an acceptable meal based on the order I placed.I first decided I would just deal with it, but it was such an unacceptable mess that my conscience wouldnt allow me to let it go. I called and spoke to Faison was polite; however again they thought that any customer would be satisfied with that mess they called 5 pc catfish steaks. They offered to replace the meal, but it left a really bad taste and concern about the establishments quality control. The catfish was hard, brownish on the inside and just plain salty. Not sure if Ill every go back...?
Forget the fish, especially the filet catfish . The wings are great if nothing else , the smell of the place is awful @times , looks like the place could use a good scrubbing .
Purchased large order of cat fish steaks. Beware of small boney pieces. Contacted store. J&J didnt take responsibility for the lack of quality. They blamed small pieces on the vendor they purchased from.

I had their catfish fillets twice as did the wife and thought they were great. Want to try the whitefish someday. I use loisiana hot sauce cause I think its better than theres.
I called and asked a question on the menu about there combinations I said hold on cause I was not just gonna order for my self but for a group of people I said hold on so I could ask and I promise you not even 3 seconds later he had hung up on me I called 4 times right after and he never answered till the 5th time and when I asked to speak to the manager he said it was him I said you hung up on me not sure if by mistake he said no it was not a mistake I’m really busy and I don’t have time to wait around do you want to order or not ? Wow ! I said and your a Latino and treat your own race like that he said you want to order or not and hung up on me again !!! Will never ever eat from here ever again all of this was so uncalled for I have never been treated like this ever .
I dont like there fried food. Ate it once, never made that mistake again. Dont eat that food and dont like it. Only reason I went there was to pick up for someone else.

Their hours online and on the door say they close at 10 pm. We drove 20 miles to get here and they wouldnt take our order at 9:45. They locked the doors and turned all the lights off. Terrible business.

The new management has definitely done a GREAT job in cleaning up the place. And there food is GREAT compared to what it was prior to them taking over. Everyone should give them another chance.

2019-10-13If I could give zero stars I would My family went to the Joliet Location and FELL IN LOVE so for our Sunday with Family we wanted to try the one in Bolingbrook because its closer. ENTIRELY different experience. We got Gizzards , chicken strips, tilapia, and Catfish all were dry like jerky, the fries were black and cold, and the bread was moldy. I am never picky I love food and eat it all but this I couldnt even bite through 😥 Ill stick to the Joliet Location.

2022-07-02The restaurant stunk like spoil and burnt frying oil. Food was extremely overcooked and dry as jerky except the fries which were soggy. Long wait with no where to sit. Never going here again.

2021-12-08I ordered the small combo fish n shrimp and 4 pc leg n thigh chicken. Total was around $27.00. The smell was so foul from the bag i didnt even want to open it and almost puked at the strong scent. I opened the bag and the smell got a little better because it dispersed into the air or something. Chicken was over fried, way too much coating on top, chicken inside was dry as hell and you can see the blood. Tastes like something i cant even describe, one bite and i spit it out and had to drink something right away to take away the awful taste. The breaded fish was ok but too salty, the shrimp were ok too but something was off about them i cant pin point what exactly. The fries were super basic. The coleslaw was disgusting. Overall 0 stars, believe it or not i took one bit and tossed the whole thing into the trashcan nearby. Never coming back again no matter how hungry i get.

2018-05-08This restaurant is located near the Walmart of the neighbourhood so you do not have to worry about parking. The staff are very friendly and the food is really tasty. They have a halal menu and are Zabihah certified.

2021-06-24Take my advice. Bypass this J&J. My 1st experience at this Bolingbrook was terrible. Look like a whole in the wall. Floors hadnt been cleaned or mopped. Walls nasty and filty. Catfish tells were the size of goldfish and the Inside of meat was dark like it had been freezer burnt. 1st experience there was my last. Ill go to my regular J&J. Wish I had seen other reviews before I went there. Trying to get money back would have been a loss cause. So I just coughed it up as a J&J charity case

2021-03-27This is the worse chicken I had in 20 yrs. There was so much salt and grease in this food. Felt liked I was robbed of my money. Food was so bad, I should have called the police. Literally, I had to throw the food out. The chicken and fish was horrible. I advise everyone to stay away from this place. My actual rating is a negative 5!!!

2021-08-22Order 50 chicken wings horrible old chicken and re fired again and old fires. I am taking about this location 100% I ordered 50 wings today probably your biggest order of the day the chicken was black bad and old with looks like freezer burn the fires were super stale and hard as a rock want to try some ill bring it back by???
