Jewel-Osco in other cities:
Signs everywhere saying that they cut meats but then when you ask for them to cut the meat they state that its company policy NOT TO CUT the meat. Telling me that I have to come back another day because they are too busy. Also, If they do cut the meat to your liking they will upcharge the meat.Typical BAIT and SWITCH policy...
I went to jewel paco looking for flowers for my moms birthday..I was surprised to see that they actually had a florist on duty!!..I was trying to to something else besides roses..I have done a lot of roses in my lifetime!!..we came up with a beautiful arrangement. In addition the store is very clean and tidy!!..I love that makes shopping fun
I used to work here and no, it’s not the best. One time, I had this pack of face masks in my locker and I had it stolen so that’s one lol. The assistant manager one time recorded me for no reason because me and my co worker we’re pushing carts and got upset with us because we did a lot. The store manager always forgot my name and he was the one who hired me right away after my interview. The managers always had spare baggers inside and always forced me outside in the cold without help just pushing carts when I showed signs I needed help. This workplace to me wasn’t it because I grew up being a hard worker and this place itself is just for the ones who are lazy and want it easy
I love Jewel Osco Pharmacy the pharmacist is the best I have five family members that goes to the pharmacy store they remembers you as a customer and as a person. I never had any trouble with them get my medication on time, when they have a delay with your medication they will notify you.
I usually come shopping here since this is one of the nearest grocery stores to my house besides Aldi’s and I really like the prices. Unfortunately when I got out of my car yesterday night around 8:50 I saw a manager yelling at an employee who looked no older than 16 or 17 that was pushing carts. How does this company let management treat staff like that?? It’s harassment and shouldn’t be allowed. They should have more people pushing carts out instead of sending out only one person who’s super young. I know there’s people who are older or physically stronger to push carts. Definitely not healthy.
A few employees are friendly. They greet you, say thank you and are helpful. But there are a number of cashiers that are surly. No greeting, no smile and act as though youre bothering them if you ask a question. That just happened to me again. An item didnt come up with the sale price posted on the shelf. We were going back and forth. I was asking for the sale price, and she kept telling me it wasnt on sale. I asked if someone could check on the price. She never said a word just walked off to go check. I followed. We found the sale price tag. However, the sale had ended. She walked back to the register never saying a word. She gave me the sale price. I thanked her. She never looked at me or said a word. I had never been rude to her. I thanked the bagger and again no response. Most uncomfortable. The Jewel I normally go to is on 88th & Ridgeland. That one is a great store. This one on 79th & Cicero I try to avoid.
This SUCH a nice Jewel. Very clean. Very organized. There was staff every where. Staff that was communicating with each other and working on the store. The customers and the employees both seem in good spirits. The produce was in great shape. The deli and fish counters were very clean and well maintained. I will definitely be making this my new Jewel. Keith was my cashier and he was fast, friendly, and just a nice interaction in my day. Im glad I decided to stop in.
Whenever I walk into this place I get that feeling of Ahhh Big, wide and open!! I will not be crowded by tons of other customers here because they actually made this big enough for people to shop in crowds! I give that an A+. Also items are not hard to find, Isles are not hard to find or read. They have a good selection of Meat and vegetables. I definitely recommend that you try to come here. You will love the feel of the place!
This review is regarding the TCF Bank inside of the Jewel-Osco. I think that they are independent of Jewel-Osco and they didnt pop up on this app, despite the fact that I did visit the TCF Bank here! I think their staff is poorly trained, and I was particular bothered by the fact that they cant do something as simple as establish order for a line. I complained repeatedly that my privacy was being invaded and violated! I called TCF staff to back this person up, however they ignored me. I asked then asked this woman to backup, she looked at me like I was crazy. When I finished my transactions, I went to the teller window to request the supervisor. I was told that she was gone. My question is how does the supervisor leave before the bank closes? TCF Bank : Disgusting service!
I usually do not shop at this chain of grocery stores, Ive always thought that their prices were a bit bloated. I have family members that frequent here but not me..... then came COVID-19....I have been going to this location near 79th & Cicero since March, and I LOVE IT! Everytime I have gone (2x a month) they have had fully stocked shelves, they are still pricey, but paying for peace of mind is COMPLETELY worth it.....I just spent $250.00 there today, and didnt bat an eye because I left with everything that I needed, and everything my teenaged son wanted! The staff is friendly and the store is always clean. This is definitely my new store!
Whenever I go, I go early and theres never a line . I have my mask ,my gloves, and the carts are cleaned they have wipes at the entrance to re clean your cart if you choose to and your hands Ive been going there for years. You know with the covid19 the only thing they dont allow rain checks so when you go you have to go as soon as you look over there sales paper and pick up your items that you want to purchase especially with something thats popular and reasonably priced like the cherries because theyll sell out quick and its been hard for them to restock.
Employees are great, helpfull, friendly. They are remodelling the store making it pretty. Produce still sucks though. I like the prices and selection of produce at fair play better but the ghetto people starting fights 3 of the last 5 times I went there keep me at jewel.
Today I went with my son to purchase some cases of water, pop, and a few other grocery items. I thought the water was on sale so when it rang up a different price I asked the cashier KEITH if the water was on sale he grabs the paper slams it down and points and goes its part of a 3day sale and makes a face towards me like I was stupid. He then is finishing up my transaction and 2 more people start placing their items on the belt he turns to them and says well its obvious you all cant read and points to his number 2 light on his register lane and says my light is off Im closed but I guess I can take you since you are already here all while making a face of disgust. I then speak up and tell him why does he feel its ok to be rude to customers. He then smirks and tries to play it off and say oh I didnt mean it to come off rude. And the girl helping him bag also found his behavior funny I guess. I then tell him you do not have to speak to us with a rude tone we are paying customers and do not deserve this type of treatment. He quickly tried to act polite while giving me my receipt. I then passed the girl who was bagging and said its sad that you agreed with his behavior and went straight to his manager and let her know what he said. She said she was going to take care of it. I hope she does. Ive never had a problem there before but come on managers make sure your cashiers are treating everyone correctly and with respect. Keith you should be lucky you still have a job there.
Okay, they open at 6:00, but what time do the employees show up? I was there this morning at 6:15, hoping to buy bagels/donuts for our office. The bakery case was totally empty. I know theyre not baking these at the store, and I also know they get deliveries all night. Isnt it logical to have breakfast items in the bakery case available when the store opens because you know, people like to have breakfast in the morning.
They are supposed to close at midnight. After 10, they close all entrance doors with carts, therefore, leaving madness outside with customers scrambling to get into the exit doors. The cashiers were more interested in conversation across the way with each other rather than saying a simple hello to the customer paying. I will travel a bit further to shop.
12/24/2019 I went into the Jewel Osco on 79th & Cicero. I needed to purchase 4 loaves of Vienna Bread for my Christmas Dinner. Well there were only 3 Vienna Loaves on a shelf. So I went to ask the employees if there was any more loaves. One lady was writing on a cake, so she went the corner of the bakery to let them know I needed assistance. The lady addressed me i asked her if there was any more Vienna Bread loaves, she told me to wait she was exchanging Christmas Gifts. My daughter and I then looked to the corner of the bakery where the ovens were and I couldnt believe my eyes. 3 ladies were opening up gifts. 1 lady opened up a gift which was a bottle of vodka and 1 lady was eating donuts pieces right of the baking sheet. 2 were just talking and laughing. I understand its Christmas Eve but thats why you have a break or lunch time. When the lady was finished exchanging gifts she asked the other ladies if there were more Vienna Breads. She told me thats all they had on the shelf. I told her its a sale item the store should had more on the shelf. They had 25 loaves of french bread on the rack and only 3 loaves if Vienna Bread.I found an manager in the frozen section and reported the incident to him. I told him I understand its Christmas Eve but that is why they receive breaks and lunches. I also informed him that the lady eating off the racks was unsanitary and it was a health violation. In my 5 years of working in a bakery I have never seen anything like today stealing company time to open gifts and not attending to customers, stealing food and eating off the racks. I was not the customer to see this either. The other 5 customers that were waiting to be help, witnessed it too. My daughter suggested I should of recorded the incident and put it on YouTube and Facebook, but luckily I was walking out of the store. But there is always next time.I recommend the Jewel Osco on 88th Ridgeland Ave. They always have what I need and treat the customer right.
They have an organized store, many helpful associates. Great sales , specially with the Jewel osco app. Just put your phone number and automatically use the coupons you clip on the app. This has been my only grocery shopping store for 2 years. I go to the one on 54th and Pulaski to buy bags of 6 bolillos, that this store doesnt carry.
My sole purpose was to purchase ginger root when I looked at the ginger root most of them was dried up and molding. I had the same experience when I saw the strawberries that was on sale for $0.99 they were also growing mold, so you really had to look through the package to pick one with no mold Im really disappointed because that location Jewel Store used to be much much much better than what it is now
Terrible service! Second time here and will be the last. First time had a terrible experience in the deli nothing was fresh and workers who were all teens were too busy talking and complaining about the no cell phone rule instead of serving all the customers. The produce section needs more of a variety. Also most importantly employees need better customer service.
Today in Chicago, weve had some inexplicably hot weather for a September afternoon. I noticed a young girl corralling shopping carts in the parking lot by herself. I mentioned this concern to the manager of the store and she couldnt have been less concerned about this girls safety. Her response was that she was relieving someone and was only outside for 15 minutes. I asked her if she could see it in her heart to let the girl come inside for a few minutes and the response was that shes not doing any work that a man wouldnt do. Maybe she could get a man to relieve the other man and not leave a young girl alone in a parking on a 95 degree day. This is in climate weather.
The staff was rude and talked to me as if I was a foolI asked for 2 rain checks and the process took longer than it took me to shop1st the person writing the rain check I waited for for at least 8 minutesThen it was checking for stock when it had already been defined by another clerk there was no more.2ndWhen asking for a rain check on the ice cream (which o checked with the person in dept.)I was curtly told there was ice cream and what flavor did I wantKnowing the flavors I wanted, I told this ms attitude an hour she call to the back and totally dismisses me and starts to assist another individual and was told to move to the side. Now time spent was going on 15 minutes. I told this unprofessional person that I didnt need to be abused for $1.88 ice creamIm sorry but this irresponsible treatment is inexcusable.
They got a good price for the grill or Jerk chicken, or their fried chicken, the only problem is that the kids they have serving the customers dont pay attention to your order and instead of giving you an 8 piece mixed chicken (2 wings, 2 thighs, 2 drumsticks, 2 breast, they give you whatever because they are so involved in their conversation. So you get what you get and that is it!!
14 people trying to check out with full carts. One lane open. Ridiculous. A few months have passed since the review you just read. I tried avoiding a return trip to this Jewel, but I guess I forgot and found myself in there again. It was after I filled my cart that I realized there was one lane open, again, this time 18 people were ahead of me. I abandoned my cart and left. Hey Jewel, if you dont want to staff this store why dont you close it!?!
You better hope they dont have your medications, baby formula or any special needs locked behind a cabinet. You will NEVER get a rep to help you. Theyll just tell you the cabinet doesnt have keys or go find someone who works in that department. Horrible customer service! Id rather take my business to another area grocery store where they dont mind helping and they HAVE keys on hand.
Terrible. On 100819 I tried to get some milk and a few things for my kids using WIC. Uncle Tomnina, who is way too old to be working at Jewels, she was managing tonight with her trans manager, some young dude who should just come out the closet, had the worse customer service skills ever. Held the line up, just ignorant, and the lady breath smelled like hot garbage. Fire them. Go somewhere else. You were warned.
If you want anything from the deli, be prepared to wait a LONG time for the employees to finish having private conversations. If you have a few hours to spare and are looking for sluggish, surly employees, you will be delighted with the Jewel deli dept. If you want fresh baked breads with paragraphs of mystery chemicals, do visit the bakery dept.
1) Often the food is not fresh. On several occasions I have purchased bread or cheese and gotten home and discovered mold on the food.2) The service is horrible. Today I entered Jewel to purchase some Pepto Bismol. Unlike other establishments, this Jewel-Osco keeps the Pepto in a locked case. They just started this. I asked the pharmacist for assistance. She paged over the loud speaker 3 times over a period 15 minutes but no one came to open the case. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was informed the only store manager and person available to open the case, was in an unknown area outside and would be gone for at least another 10 minutes. I left and went to a competitor.
This Jewel at Cicero and 79th has terrible service in the deli and meat departments. They are way too slow, keep you waiting 10-20 minutes. I had two incidents at deli and nothing has improved. Today, Oct. 4, 2017 I went there after 6 pm. A few customers at deli. The number up was 8 but the numbers to take started with 17. The number 8 never changed and only one customer took a number. Employees did not call numbers. I was next and employee said whoever has a number is next. I said Are you kidding? You havent been calling numbers. Others told her I was next, but she didnt listen. I said I dont want you food and left. I complained to Jesus Rubio. He called the deli about the incident. I hope something actually changes. Ever since Albertsons bought this Jewel, service has gotten worse. At the meat department, you also have to wait a long time, like no butcher is there. Also, there is no buzzer to call the butcher. When someone comes out, they act like they are bothered. I dont want to shop at this Jewel any longer. It only takes a few bad employees or not enough employee coverage to ruin the shopping experience!
When standing in the deli area waiting on a large order I had an associate Reggie to acknowledge me and remember that order was placed the day before, proceeded to say give us a minute and we will give you hot chicken that was great CUSTOMER SERVICE and being in retail and also human resources rep. That means A LOT !!!!
IF I COULD GIVE 0 stars I would. I went to the deli and bought three different things and when I got home it tasted spoiled, smelled terrible and old. I called the store and the man on the phone was like ummmmmmmmm this is a first. Like I just spent my money on old food. Instead of giving a solution. To top it off the ladies that worked in deli was RUDE. Never will I go there again.
She works in the deli department im not sure the correct spelling of her name but Diedda thank you for helping me today ! Working in the customer service world is a demanding job. People look at people behind a counter as just that... Someone behind a counter ! But just remember if you werent there to assist them they would have to do it themselves and in the world today people do not do things for themselves anymore they look for things to be done for them. So Diedda thank you for being you and for your kindness ! I appreciate you and what you do !
Im giving this Jewel a one-star because they have a MoneyGram symbol outside. Its not a real MoneyGram. You can send as much money as you want but you cant pick up as much money as you want thats a fake MoneyGram I have eyes all people if youre trying to receive anyting over $500 do not go there go to the Walmart Supercenter

2022-06-10I usually have a great experience at this Jewel. Its a little far from where I live, but for the most part its worth going. However, today at the flower/balloon department, the lady there (which she is usually nice and welcoming) was really rude. Over the years, I have purchased so many balloons and flowers there due to their great selection. So this would make me a customer too. My request I was trying to make maybe was not allowed, but sometimes even if its a no, there could have been a nicer way in saying it. Now, I will go elsewhere.

2022-01-24I cant begin to describe how disappointed I am with my experience at Jewels hot food catering department. I was absolutely mortified when my husband went to pick up our HUGE order (that we paid for a few weeks in advance) and we were told chefs had not even started it. (Let me also add we called earlier in the day to confirm pickup time) My baby shower started at 3 and was scheduled to end at 6 due to the venue restrictions. Pickup was at 2:30 so we had planned for optimal transportation time. We did not receive the food until 4 pm and our guests did not eat til 4:30. The chicken was great, however the mashed potatoes and gravy were ice cold like they just pulled them out of the fridge. We had to heat the mashed potatoes in the venues microwave. I was so so SO disappointed. When we spoke to the supervisor we were given a $25 gift card and a couple extra Hawaiian roll packs.I am not only disappointed that half of our party was spent waiting on food, but I am upset that my husband was not able to spend that time with me, our family and our friends enjoying the party like he should have been able to due to him waiting on food that should have been ready before our guests arrived. I am disappointed that the party was pushed back and we had to pay for more time at the venue as well. And to be given $25 and Hawaiian rolls was a really cheap oops, sorry. Disappointed is not even the word. I spent my special day crying out of frustration. I am never and I mean NEVER catering from here ever again. The worst experience Ive ever had with a catering company.

2022-05-12I work at this jewel location and I Advise you not to shop here because the managers dont care about there employees or customers at all. The store has a lot of expired from 3 to 4 months past expiration date. because they put new products on the front and the old one in the back. I saw rats and Roaches in the stock room on multiple occasions I told my storeManager but he ignored it ever time.

2022-06-13One of the best grocery stores in the Midwest. Super clean store, very organized and very ample selection of groceries and household needs, amazing team members always ready to help answer any questions one may have. Enjoy

2022-06-11This store is open early and the employees are always helpful and cheerful!! And the prices are competitive and more often than not can get a great deal on items priced crazily at comparative stores

2022-02-12This place is a disgrace to the company. In particular the hot food staff. They are unsanitary and disgustingly rude to their customers. I’ve complained about this to management and they seem to not care. Very sad that this is going to corporateALSO, most of these five star ratings below are all employees trying to boost their ratings so corporate won’t be on them but your manager not that slick.

2022-02-19They have a lot of things on offer, the store always looks clean and organized, and the fruits and vegetables are always fresh. The service that the employees give is fast and friendly.

2021-12-18If these large retailers arent going to enforce mask protocols on staff and shoppers, they will soon be back to closures and empty shelves. 800,000 dead is fine as long as you keep raking in the cash. A&P, National, Dominicks, Omni, Ultra... All gone without a pandemic. Jewel is the big dog left in the yard. You can do better. If I can see your nose, you failed the test.

2022-05-19Always a pleasure shopping in this store. I find everything I need. Thank you.
