Jewel-Osco in other cities:
The store post the wrong price of Pepsi 2L ,2 for $4. in fact 5 of $5.cashier over charger $5.60 .Go to customers service talk to male manager about it . Then sara come talk about sad face to me.she mean I am lying the price to him to take advantage from the store. I and other floor manage have to go check the price twice. At two different area two price of same products. Go back to customers service ,sara really no respect to me .and asking the male manage are you sure you got this and the male manager wasnt happy either. I dont know what I did wrong to shopping my local store.they are attitude make me so uncomfortable. This is the second time in the same store.
Very crowded but still my favorite grocery store! The Only thing I don’t get is why they are always out of frozen breakfast sandwiches! It’s the only thing my husband can make on his own lol. I’ve been there on M-T-W’s and rare to find any on the shelves! Staff is nice and they have more checkers lately!
We used to get meat cut and had fantastic experiences with the prior butcher at this location however we have been very disappointed with the new butcherJarrod-the cuts are uneven and improper, when calling to point out concerns he was rude-disprespectful to my husband. We called to complain to the district manager- the store manager did not ever call us back, I’m not sure if the information was conveyed to him but it has been a disappointing experience. Grant, however has helpful and extremely professional.
The shopping program has been a good thing for us. By signing up and using the Jewel/Osco app from the Google Play Store and subsequently entering our phone number each time we shop, weve been able to collect points and redeem them for discounts on future grocery trips. Ive made it sound complicated but it really is simple. (Yes, I know they collect information but someone would have been collecting info anyway because I dont pay with cash very often)The store is clean, nearly all the employees are friendly. There are public restrooms in the back corner of the store.Near the Osco pharmacy is a small section set aside for floral arrangements, plants, and flower bunches. Not too far from the flowers are large racks of gift cards with a very respectable selection of cards on offer. There is (or was, before the quite great virus of 2020) a decent selection of products. There is the normal complement of bakery, deli, butcher/meat/seafood departments with dedicated employees, the front area near the produce houses a selection of freshly cut fruit and vegetables along with some other cold prepared items. There is a hot/cold food bar near the deli and bakery. (No place to sit inside the store for consumption of food bar items) There is a place tucked next to the deli with fresh sushi. And last but not least, my family prefers the fried chicken that comes from Jewel to any other in town.
Do not try to go early and get your shopping done. There is NEVER any meat available and usually the sales items are cleaned out and not restocked. I went there for chicken, chicken kievs and frozen egg rolls. Left with none of those items. The meat section is a big let down in the morning. That department doesnt get moving till way after the store has been open for a couple hours.
I usually go to the Kankakee Jewel because its close, but the Bourbonnais Jewel has more of the keto foods I wanted to try. Huge selection of groceries but I always feel disoriented in there. I think its the store layout. Only one employee bothered to greet me at all, not that I really minded, it just seemed unusual. Regardless, I got the stuff I wanted and self checked out quickly.
I had to get 3 different scooters because they kept cutting off on me in the store. Most of the time you go there the scooters arent charged I was over charged for 6 cans of tuna the sign said $.69/ can I was over charged I paid almost $12 for 6 cans of tuna. Went again no charged scooters
Great bunch of employees work here. We came in 30 minutes before they closed and they was very accommodating. One young lady grab a riding cart off the charger and brought it to my sister. Another gentlemen looked in the stockroom for us to see if they had any more pop we was looking for. Checkout lady was friendly and helpful. Store was clean, and parking lot well lit.
Just for you coupon savings are great. I spent almost $150 before sale prices and coupons kicked in but these lovely tools lowered my total to $104. And these savings are typical of our weekly shopping totals! Also love the efficiency of the express lanes. Overall, considering I live in an area with lots of shopping options, I strongly prefer this Jewel over even Aldis. No, Im not on their payroll!!
Personal experiences!! Pharmacy all the pharmacist are amazingly nice they have always went out of their way to help me as for Walgreens down the road east of there are all rude and very rude. As for here they are honest and nice. The store typical grocery store they have everything you need or could want in a major chain stores that are hi she bye!!
Cashiers and employees on the floor are always nice and helpful but the people that work at the service desk are rude dismissive and snobby. They treat customers as an inconvenience and make you feel like you’re bothering them when in fact they’re only there to take care of the customers They need to be reminded of that or fired.
Hadnt been here in a while glad I came back. I stopped because of the sales on produce and was very happy to see they had some this store only sales. I got 2 wonderful cantaloupe for 99¢ each. I cut them up this week and they were so sweet. Also, the staff here are very helpful.
This Jewel is usually very pleasant. Its clean and friendly and most of the time they have everything. The only thing I have had a problem with is I have purchased there fried chicken a couple times when it was on special. Unfortunately I have been disappointed both times. Either there oil is old or not changed enough, because my chicken was excessively greasy and I will not purchase it again from here.
Ordered groceries last night and picked up after I left physical therapy. I marked no substitutions so we got the little pepsi w/real sugar. There were only two items they didnt have. One of which could have been substituted for another size of ICBINB. The other was no pumpkin rolls I wanted 2. Not too bad for my first try. I wish there was a substitution box by all items as well as the one at the top.The girl who delivered to my car was very sweet and polite and quick.
I love this store and have a lot of friends and past classmates that have worked and work here. The hourly workers are great and helpful. The quality of products are good and the store generally has the best produce in the area. The deli also has items that you can not find in other grocery stores around town. That being said, the reason I am writing a negative review is the store manager/director Mike. I have been in the store before and seen him speak disrespectfully to employees. His demeanor is rude and abrasive. He speaks over people and belittles those he speaks to. It was always offputting to see him act this way and today, I got to experience it personally. I had a problem and eventually got directed to mike in an attempt to resolve it. He did not take time to listen and assumed he had all the information he needed. He cut me off as I attempted to introduce myself and the problem I was having. He quickly offered his idea of a solution but not one that would reasonably work with covid happening. When I tried to explain this he cut me off again and was short and rude. He continued to speak over me and explain why I should be grateful to him.I’m not surprised by his behavior and demeanor. This is spot on. I am surprised that he has been able to get away with it for so long. I feel for his employees and others who come in contact with him. I will probably be going elsewhere after today, which really sucks.
The last few months Jewel has disappointed me. When you go there are boxes and carts of stuff in the aisles to be put on shelves making it hard to get through. Fewer check out people causing longer waits and the people at express are like they have a time limit per customer. Recently I observed a woman with a stop watch and clip board watching the express lanes and barking at shoppers to get in line when the previous customer wasnt even finished. I like the checkers there and appreciate being able to say a couple of words of friendly conversation with them. If I have to feel like Im on a marathon Im looking at other places to shop. Ive stayed loyal for as long as this store has been here. Employee moral has to be damaged. They are being treated poorly and as a retired manager I find it unacceptable
Great Experience! Today I went to my local Jewel in Bourbonnais. I spoke to the store mgr about purchasing some fruit for our upcoming Christmas Eve church service. I was totally shocked and greatful for his generosity. Thank you again for the help.Loyal Jewel customer .Jason
This store has everything from batteries to fresh wild fish. The produce is fresh as are the baked goods. There is a hot buffet bar which serves soups and chicken, which is pretty decent and affordable. They usually have sales on meat and the wine and beer selection is actually pretty good.
This is a great grocery store that continually seems to be rolling its profits back into improving. Every department, over the years, has become gradually better and better. Friendly staff (for the most part), and the location hires with true attention paid to equal opportunity.
This is specific to Osco ... had transfered medication from Yorkville to the Bourbonnais location and had three issues so unfortunately I had to switch to another pharmacy farther from my home because their systems cant hand multiple months of a prescription. This is an older Jewel-Osco and has not gone through a remodel like so many others so it could be they have outdated software but Im not sure as I dont work there. My Drs Office even called to verify the prescription audit trail and the Osco still couldnt find the prescription. One issue the first time I get ... Im a new resident and new customer so thats expected. After the third incident within a 3 month time frame, its time to move on. Its a well kept Jewel but if anyone has a multiple month prescription I would highly recommend going elsewhere ... at least until they get remodeled. The remodeled Jewel-Oscos are really nice, Modern, the updated layout of the store is friendly and I liked the addition of self checkout.
The best staff ever. Cashiers are super friendly and personable as is anyone else you encounter on the floor. Fresh produce, good meats, nice organic variety. They offer a take and bake section.. preseasoned meats, fish, fajita kits, etc. that you just take home and cook. They have a wide variety of alcohol, including a build your own craft beer 6 pack.
I had a bad experience here. I needed assistance from customer service, but the older African American lady at the counter seemed ticked off that she even had to help me...I know times can be tough, but I was polite and I thought customer service people are usually the nicer employees at the store?
How they can get away with doing COVID-19 Vaccine shots and require customers to bring in their insurance cards so that they ( Albertsons) can bill the customers insurance company is news beyond me? If these shots are being provided by the United States government for free here, then explain to me why Albertsons can force the insurance companies to pay the cost then.
I can’t shop this store any longer. It’s an all day process. I used to come in for deli or bakery items but I can’t anymore. The lines are so long with so few registers open. I don’t mind getting rid of self-check registers if it means more people working. That isn’t the case though. The last three visits I’ve walked in, saw how much every line was backed up, and literally walked right out. No point in wasting time or gas stopping here anymore.
Excellent deli section, the kitchen here prepares a plethora of delicious ready to go foods. Superb meat and cheese. Beer is cheaper than the liqour stores and I would argue the selection is on par excluding some craft beers mostly in liter bottles and 4 packs. Make your own six packs variety needs to be expanded upon (why would I pay $10 for $6 a 6 pack beer?). Most other items are more expensive compared to competition.
Their produce Dept is much better than WM and I am able to check out so much faster than WM. I have grown to like Jewel over the past few years. I still go to WM but get frustrated as they have so many checkouts with so few in use. Thus, many long lines. Jewel is a much nicer experience in my opinion. Also they have competitive prices.
Horrible. The bagger put cans on top of bread and hamburger buns. My cheese from the deli was all broke up because of the way he packed it. I had brought my own bags but common sense he should have put leaking chicken in plastic first. Juices were over everything in the bag. Never had such bad bagger in any store.
Great fresh seafood. Only problem is that it is impossible to special order less than 25 pounds or so. Likewise, the meat department is good but again is limited in scope. But the butchers will recommend other sources for the exotic such as pork trotters, pork maws, beef cheeks, hearts, tongues. The selection on grass fed beef is limited.
Weve just relocated back to this area from Arizona and we have shopped at this particular location several times including today. The employees we encountered every time were not very customer friendly and we couldnt get multiple items we came for either because they were out or they didnt carry them. Our family will not be shopping here any longer. Definitely not impressed at all!
I cant wait till Meijer opens slow slow slow at Jewel.checkout was held up 10 minutes by incorrect prices in the system vs posted. Took that long to get someone to go to the display and confirm the customer was right. Wife would not let me walk away and abandon the cart.
Went in to get “soup” soon as I lifted the lid on the Cheddar Broccoli soup it was down to bottom of the barrel and it was burnt and brown! Same goes for the Chicken Noodle soup! Absolutely disgusting! If you’re looking to get soup later in the afternoon DON’T!! Obviously they don’t refill it throughout the day like Mariano’s does!!
HORRIBLE!! Dont ever order a custom cake from this bakery!! All the cakes come to them FROZEN!!!!I ordered a chocolate & whipped cream cake decorated with black and GOLD, for my Sons 40th birthday!! I got a yellow decorated cake with a few black spots, and they used black GEL for the bday wish!!! To top it off, it was BUTTERCREAM!!! My son doesnt even like buttercream!! I called to complain and at least get my money back. All I got was a bunch of BS!!!
Im always pretty happy with a Jewel Osco but they are definitely the priciest major grocery store in the KankaBourboLey area. I think their produce department has the best selection of the area. I also like that they have a lot of more artisanal prodects throughout the store (which are all pricey but its good to support smaller businesses).
Cashier could not get help on a up c #. The lady in black behind desk did not respond to her!!,I have never seen such utter snobbery and rudeness. Finally a guy came over and helped. Customers mad. Cashier frustrated. And customer ticked!!What a bunch of brats in the office!! Then they left her w no bagger!!
The store has an awesome array of your needs. When the line became long... *with 2 people waiting outside of the customer being waited on* the store management IMMEDIATELY started redirecting customers to other open lines with no wait!!! I LOVE WHEN AN ESTABLISHMENT IS RESPECTFUL OF YOUR TIME.!!!!!
Jewel has renovated the entire store... The bakery department has so much to choose cookies danishes pies slices of pies Donuts They cut up cucumbers tomatoes pineapples melons watermelon Jicama green peppers their selection for fruit and vegetables is large their meat department has a variety of everything their meat department has 3 butchers seafood too frozen department large selection Fridays they have fresh cupcakes to select at a reduced prices cookies and cream Oreo red velvet lemon caramel and many more they have a large liquor department wines Jack Daniels beers vodkas wine coolers E&J tequila rums Jewel also has a large deli department Fried chicken roasted chicken soups cole slaw many many items also large cheese section plus a food court with cook food to choose from and all the groceries you can think of... In addition the pack side with cosmetics medicines Pharmacy etc
I usually love going to this Jewel Osco but tonight I didnt have a good experience. I got my WIC items that I usually get and while the cashier was checking my items out she had a lady assisting her in bagging items and they were exchanging looks with each other like they were annoyed with me because I was paying by WIC. I didnt know that the items I get every time I get WIC were no longer on the list the lady who was asssiting the cashier by bagging made me feel so embarrassed by telling me in a rude way that I need to follow the WIC signs. I left feeling very embarrassed that I am a single mother of 2 and have to use WIC for my children. You never know someones situation and I hope nobody has to leave Jewel feeling the way I did tonight just because you use WIC.
The store seems disorganized to me. I have shopped at the Frankfort store but this was my first stop in Bourbonais. It might have been because I was already tired but I couldnt find anything without backtracking several times and ended up leaving without getting everything I had on my list.

2022-02-26This store is usually well stocked. Its produce section Is well organized and looks appealing. Today, an item I wanted was missing. An employee offered to go into the back to see if the product was there. He came back in just a minute to say that it was not. I appreciated his volunteering and following through.

2022-04-03I absolutely love this store. I drive all the way from Peotone just to shop the produce. The fruits and vegetables seem to last so much longer. And the heads of lettuce are light, fluffy, and green like lettuce should look. Thank you.

2022-05-29Try to dodge Jewel-Osco if you can. There doesn’t seem to be any emphasis on friendliness in customer training. All the workers seem to be a little on edge which makes buying groceries way more tense than it needs to be. This goes for the pharmacy too.

2022-07-21Best Jewel ever in Bourbonnais! This one seems newer but was at the Kankakee one also for vaccines and both are very nicely staffed and a person can tell the customers are very nice people.

2022-02-14Line staff is amazing; however Managers are a joke. I dont usually like to rate places low but something about these big box stores in bourbonnais have little to no customer service and professionalism. This store dont have anything on the urban side (when I say urban I mean Mexican, African American, oriental) dont waste your time simply go to Kroger or Walmart. I will say their Delly is why they get 2 stars. Their chicken is amazing. And service is awesome. Chicken is better than KFC 😋.
