Jewel-Osco in other cities:
It is unreal the horrific incompetent staff that I encountered today at approx 3:15pm at the Deli Counter...First off were were approximately six assovistd behind the counter 4 were engaged in other Hot food Preparation. That left 2 servicing hot chicken orders and the other for the Deli...Th I d fellow for the D we li had go be new he did not have a clue what was going on around him nor his duties and responsibilities.....WHERE WAS HIS TRAINER?????? Of the fellow was not new he should be terminated immediately!!!! The majority of the meat was thrown back into the he cooler UNLABLED....FORGET THE TRAINER....WHERE WAS THE MANAGER???? I realize do to Covid staffing has its challenges....However with the lack of service being offered this location cant expect to increase revenue...... Jewel may currently lack competition but surely you are being monitored by competitive entities. Im done with Jewel...sadly I was spending cash in excess of $200
Last week I ordered through the app for a pickup. In my order I placed it had 12 pieces of chicken hot from the deli to feed a family of 4. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized the issues. Not only did they substitute 12 pieces of chicken for 12 wings - WITHOUT letting me know first, but when I asked the guy at pickup if it was hot from the deli and he said yes, just a few short blocks from the store, the wings were cold, not even a little bit warm. In what world are 12 tiny wings a substitute for 12 full size pieces of chicken?!? I was irate and felt terrible for the elderly I was trying to feed that night. I’m grateful for online ordering and pickup theses days, but things like this are unacceptable.
The cashiers are awesome, they have been there a long time and know their regulars. Shelves are not always full, and bakery is not always up on fresh bread. Deli can be iffy, have only seen a couple employees that dont care about customers, try to avoid when they are there. Overall its a good experience
Time and time again I’ve had to ask managers themselves to please wear a mask. Today I tried to buy deli meat and chosen not to purchase due to the failure of mask requirements. What is worse is the fact I had to say anything in the first place! It’s your store please please please be a contributing factor for maintaining a healthy environment for OUR neighborhood!!!
Shopped at the Aurora West Galena Jewel today. First time Ive been there in many, many years! What a beautiful store! Fully stocked, clean and their produce department was wonderful! Really puts the Oswego rt. 30 produce department to shame! Ill drive further to shop this Jewel from now on! ⭐
We will never be returning back with the disrespect and discrimination we encountered as we exited the store. We just finished checking out at the self check out line with no problem. An employee (tall gentleman with long beard/mustache) stated finally, you guys are leaving. We were so shocked that an employee would speak to us that way when we just stopped at the store. So rude.
This location, while convenient, isnt the cleanest. Some very friendly faces there to boot, however, the old guy with the skeleton gave mask is rude and is very willing to show it. Ive observed him eyeing people negatively, pointing toward open self-paying registers without saying a word and giving certain people enough respect to verbally guide them. He should NOT be in customer service and should be relegated to stock or in the back. He makes this location look very unprofessional.
Im a diehard Aldi shopper, but their produce options are limited, it always seems to spoil quickly and I dont like the quality of their chicken. Jewel is the place to go for substantially better quality meat and variety. Aldis great for staples, but Im an avid Jewel shopper and have been for what feels like eons. Look for their sales. You can get some really fantastic deals.
This store is favoritism only if you dont do what they say they will get you to quit or get fired. Even your union wont do nothing for you.i brought up health concerns in the deli and cut my hours by 24 hours because of bringing up they dont wash there knifes in the deli.the manager Nora and angelica are very rude and will harass you at work until you quit. No one cleans the slicers the proper way. Theres food under the slicers no one cleans. Nora doesnt wanna train u as a manager . angelica 2nd manager will talk behind your back to other employees. Watch out. The guys at night are stealing food. The lady that opens the deli never washes her hands. The store director lets people stay workingng there who have been caught drunk on the job and others who do drugs while working.. This place is horrible.
This store has a decent delicatessen and prepared foods section but Ive been to much nicer Jewel stores. This store lacks a salad bar and always feels just a little dirty - like a martini but not in a good way. This location is also always crowded regardless of when you go and ever since the Jewel on Lake St. closed this location just went very downhill. I really only go here in a pinch as my dollar just doesnt go very far here.
This might be one of the worst Jewel locations. I understand they stock items that sell in the area they are located, but with the Boulevards District and the University right out their back door, they might actually attract more people if they cleaned the place up and offered a better selection of goods.
Clean and good deals on most things. Watch the expiration dates though. More than once I have made it home with expired food, but havent been worth going back for a refund.Jewel...the policy of locking the entry doors and forcing you to pull open the heavy automated exit door at night is ridiculous. Fina better method of security.
Every month we end up throwing out at least one entire meals worth of meat. EVERY SINGLE MONTH. We just had to throw away $14 worth of pork chops. Then, of course, we dont have anything for dinner so now we also have to pay for pizza. We cant continue to shop here and throw money away by buying bad meat. We wont be going back.
Very disappointed went to Jewel early this morning and waited for the chicken to get done I love shopping at Jewel but today July 19, 2020 I had to call bc the grilled chicken and fried chicken was still lil Pink inside the chicken I called Jewel let service desk No let them in the deli make sure your checking chicken make sure its done Not cool at all I just put it in the oven to cook it more make sure its done all the way. Not cool to receive chicken that way. 😢
Got some strange characters working at this location, I especially love when some odd ball cashiers talk to me about items I am purchasing, just scan them and put them in the bag!I usually approach the cashiers greeting them by saying “Hello, how are you?” and then I get some response like “well, I’m here, I do what they ask me...”Pardon me, I won’t ask how you or anyone else is doing anymore... these guys must be desperate for employees.
Went there last with my daughter last night to pick up a few items for dinner. We decided to use the self check out lanes which upon using the register, found problems with the register...it seemed to be a reoccurant issue with other customers as well. The guy working in the self checkout area seemed to be either overwhelmed with his job or he was lackadaisical in his duties...dont know exactly but he didnt seem very helpful or knowledgeable. I dont care much for Jewel Osco and could have found better service and better prices at Aldis...unfortunately they were closed for the night
Bad service, wrong price quote for a bouquet of flowers, the manager of the store doesnt seem to cares, Cashier took forever to check us out, we were short on time it took us an hour or hour and a half to leave the store with just one item fruit basket. All the employees including the store manager were very slow no speed no customer service and no efficiency at all. Never going back again for sure!!
This store is too small or shelves and tables are not organized well enough. Other customers and I have to squeeze between shelves/displays/tables and each other around the whole store. Makes a very stressful shopping experience! Also more expensive than other stores and sometimes they leave spoiled fruit out.
The young lady at the flower shop today, Wednesday, May 29 @ 3:30 made me two balloon bouquets with a bad attitude. She failed offer to place them in large plastic bags to avoid entanglement (I would have paid). The ribbons were all cut in different lengths and made the bouquets look awful. It took me 15 minutes to detangle them.
Why have a drive thru pharmacy if the your employees don’t run it? Waited in the drive thru for 30 MINUTES for prescription eye drops for my toddler.the dr office asked me if I wanted the Walgreens up the street or Jewel Osco. Confident I’ll just go to Walgreens next time
I go to this Jewel because it is close and convenient but I have had nothing but problems. First of all their produce is never good quality. I got some asparagus that once i got it home i noticed that it smelled strongly of fish. I threw it away. Ive had onions, lettuce, apples, tomatoes all of which either the day of or following day of shopping Im throwing away because they are rotten or moldy. They dont have enough employees. I went on last friday, middle of the day, two lanes open and the lines were 7-8 deep. Ive bought meat that has gone bad within two days, purchased an empty box of hydrocortisone that someone had stolen the contents out of. Just BAD BAD BAD!!! I felt encouraged when they reconfigured the store but it made no difference!! Ill drive to the Batavia Jewel from here on out, or go to Woodmans .
Not At All Friendly Customer Service At All... Went through the checkout line, pregnant just myself - Bag boy forgot to place my bag of potatoes in my cart.Pregnancy is in full effect... a few places to show... and finally got home - looking for potatoes and ready to cook before my partner leaves for work, and they are nowhere to be found. Calling Jewel several times because I needed to call and ask for a void/refund or even to try and pick the potatoes a different day since time was tight... Noone answers. After about 20 mins. I jump in the car and drive across town to grab these potatoes.I run to the line I originally checked out at, come to find a new cashier and he said they had been returned to the service desk, you need to go there and wait... come to find there were a line of employees... I waited a while and finally when its my turn to speak with the customer service rep and ask for the russet potatoes, she threw me the bag.I explained to her the situation and how upsetting it was - and a ton of time wasted... and how difficult it was just driving across town, 90 degree weather, super pregnant, I asked for customer courtesy coupon or something small like a gift certificate to be a returning customer, she simply said your upset over $3 potatoes?!I said... uhhhh.... yes! I dont want free stuff I just wanted a little bit of compensation since I shop at this place pretty often, and I wouldnt have been here in the first place if I had received all my bags from the cashier and bag boy. And as she mumbled a ton a words under breath she called the manager on the phone, and just very rudely explained briefly to him/her what happened. And just kept repeating, its only $3.00... a bag of potatoes! Finally after tons of back and forth with her manager, she said... all I can do for you is a $5 gift card I thanked her, and trying to hold my tounge I accepted the card and before going on my way... she said sarcastically Sorry that you had to come all the way back for $3.00 worth of potatoes...Look, I work in sales and customer service is everything. Yes there may be times I dont agree with the client, but I will never belittle, or disrespect my customer, no matter how bad of a day Im having - because at days end you just want to be sure they are taken care of so that they return to buy more... Guess this is not the case with this place. Just feel sad for that old woman - I can only pray that she has a better day, and hopefully realizes how much of an impact she can have on someones life. Definitely will have to pay more attention to what I take out in my cart more often.
Love this Store,Even to the Pharmacy,They Always Take Good Care of You,I went in with a Walking Cane and Neck Brace,And Without Asking for Help 2 young Employees Came up and Helped me,Even to the Point that they Ran through the Store and Got things For me so that I didnt Need to Walk ,God Bless You Guys,Keep Up the Good Work🙏🙏🙌

2022-03-15I saw the boss pushing a cart of small boxes of deli items. He works like his employees. His store had a recent remodel. I was happy to see slightly wider isles. There were fewer product placements on end isles or in main isles. This Jewel Osco is a smaller store but they strive to serve with friendly service and easy shopping. They make sure that there are shopping carts and baskets at both enterences.

2022-07-07Worst Costumer service from Peter at The Costumer Service Counter.Went in to get new Velcro straps for my iPass. I greeted Peter and asked for help, he started making smart comments threw the straps on the table and told me to get out of his store. Very uncomfortable approach from him, you would think Costumer Service Counter is there to help and not make customers feel like a bother.

2022-07-09This store has some good deals, but as for space there is none you can’t move in the front of the store when it’s busy

2022-06-06The size seems to be a little smaller than the other Jewel-Osco locations in the neighborhood. However, it has the same products and same great customer services as the others.
